Guest Reviews
- Rebecca (10/5): Perfect for what we wanted - A lovely quaint little place. We had a room located across a court yard which was the perfect size for me and my daughter. We also had dinner in the pub and breakfast in the conservatory it was all lovely. Nothing
- Philip (7/5): -
- Clare (10/5): -
- Georgina (10/5): - It was just the location we needed, dinner was excellent, as was breakfast and the selection of whisky
- Ann (8/5): Warm hospitality in a lovely part of the country. - The Farmers Inn is about 8 miles south of Dumfries in a quiet rural location with the rooms set at the back of the car park chalet-style so the lovely pub, which is very welcoming, doesn't get loud in your room.
The breakfast was lovely served in the conservatory.
If you want rural in beautiful scenery but a bit of life too this is for you!
- Stair (10/5): - The rooms were warm and comfortable. The breakfast was very good. The food in the bar was terrific. The hosts were chatty and friendly.
- andy (10/5): - Absolutely everything the owners and staff were amazing absolutely wonderful hosts couldnt of made us more welcome
Lovely home cooked food
Clean and practical rooms
Quiet and scenic location not far from so many tourist attractions and wonderful walks
A proper old school country inn with a charm all of its own we will be back ASAP Nothing at all
- Roland (10/5): - Alles war super! Die Zimmer sind wirklich groß und die Betten sehr gemütlich. Parken kann man direkt im Hinterhof vor den Zimmern. Es gab
nichts zu beanstanden!
- Tara (10/5): - Amazing little pub surrounded by great countryside. The room itself was spacious and clean with a decent shower. The food in the pub at dinner and in the conservatory for breakfast was great! Would definitely recommend this place to anyone. Nothing against the property or the owners at all! The issue we had was the taxi service as there isn’t really one which meant we had to drive to and from a local wedding we attended but it was still worth the stay.
- Dockerty (10/5): Lovely staff brilliant location. Would highly recommend if with your partner - Lovely location of Scotlands scenery
- Amanda (10/5): Would go again - The room was very spacious the food was good and people were very friendly Nothing
- John (10/5): Perfect-ten out of ten! - The fastest and smoothest check in ever! Perfectly appointed room-everything you could want for an overnight stay.
The bed was so comfortable and the room was exactly what we needed after a long drive-cup of tea, comfy chairs, lovely lighting and hot shower. Absolutely nothing!
- Annie (8/5): We enjoyed our stay here. - Friendly and helpful. Good breakfast. Great location for us.
- Grant (10/5): -

- Dena (9/5): would recommend and would book again on our next trip to Dumfries -
- Ann (10/5): Lovely room and location - The room was lovely, comfortable and clean.
Location was perfect for visiting my parents.
- Claire (10/5): -
- Petra (9/5): - Cosy Inn with lovely owners. Great service. The room is a little cottage at the back of the inn. Comfortabel, luxurious bathroom and comfy beds. It's not located in Dumfries centre but I didn't care. It has everything you need right there.
- Lorraine (9/5): - Warm welcome. Genuine. Very fiiendly. Good parking. Authentic. " a proper pub". Excellent food and beer. Room was quiet, very clean, warm and comfortable. Excellent breakfast. Will stay again. Recommend.
- Geoff (8/5): Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, easy access from the M74 and an ideal stopover on our way further north. - The owners were very welcoming and friendly, great shower and accommodation very clean. We had to use both double and single beds as the double was only 4’6”.
- Gareth (10/5): - Colin and staff were absolutely great and very welcoming food was great good size portions Nothing
- Regula (9/5): -
- Megan (6/5): Sweet & Remote - I did like the room, this was very spacious, comfortable with modern amenities. The food in the pub for dinner was lovely and was perfect for hiding away from storm Amy.
This location is quite remote, but perfect for walkers or travellers with a car to get about. I didnt feel very welcomed to the site, whether that was because we're a younger couple or not, I dont know, but it did make me feel a bit awkward, but that could of been because of how busy it was, as despite the weather the pub was full.
Unfortunately I didnt get to stay for the second night of our stay as had a family emergency we needed to get home for, so this opinion might of been changed.
- Jennifer (9/5): - The owner was very helpful as we were arriving late. We arrived to have a delightful pub meal and headed off to bed. Breakfast is a bonus included in the cost. The rooms were comfortable, and parking was just outside our room. 7th
- Frances (8/5): - A warm welcome and a cosy room
- Anna Margarete (8/5): Ein ruhiger Aufenthalt - Großes, geräumiges Zimmer. Frühstück und Abendessen gut. Außerdem ist die Lage gut.
- Colin (10/5): Excellent stay - Quiet location but central to Annan and Dumfries and Ideal for Kinmount house for weddings Nothing
- John (10/5): An ideal stopover - Very convenient with spacious rooms, meals a few yards across the car park and friendly hosts No complaints
- Margaret (10/5): - Everything
- Robert (10/5): -
- Nicola (10/5): - Always a warm welcome here , super cosy rooms which are very comfortable. The food is great value and delicious , I wish it was my local. I have no complaints
- Ken (10/5): Will be back - Great room, food excellent and reasonable priced.Staff friendly and could not do enough.
The breakfast could not of been better.
Will definitely return if in the area.
- david (10/5): If you are looking for a place to rest and be happy. Stay at the Farmers inn - Breakfast was really good. The only thing i would change would be that like black pudding, mushroom and fried bread. However what was provided was really good produce. The rooms are chalet type. Roomy, clean and a wonderful shower. Nothing.
- Anne (8/5): Good value for money but limited facilities. - Breakfast was very good.. nicely presented and good portions My only criticism is that it was served 8 to 8.30..not too early but not long enough to enjoy relaxed breakfast. .by 8.45 the host was wanting to clear away the tables. Another guest also made this comment to us when we had to cut our conversation short!! Our room was spacious as was the en-suite bathroom. .we were very comfortable. .however we had to ask for our hospitality tray to be replenished as it appeared our room had not been serviced each day , clean towels were also provided on request. The hosts explanation was that they had a new member for housekeeping in training. The info stated that the Farmers served breakfast, lunch and dinner but lunch was only available at weekends. This meant that the bar area only opened at 5.30 and there was no lounge area available .We ate evening meals on two nights of our stay. good quality pub grub and good value for money.

- Janet (4/5): We won't be going back. - Nothing too much to like to be honest. No food after 8 pm. Breakfast between 8.30 and 9.00.
Limited breakfast menu which had to be ordered the night before. I asked for gluten free toast and was told the bread was frozen. I was not actually having a cooked breakfast so ended up with fruit juice, a cheap Supermarket yogurt and coffee. Location is a bit far out from Lockerbie which is where we wanted to be. I looks unkempt around the rooms situated in the car park. When we got back in the evening it had been raining and there was a great big puddle to try and negotiate to get to our room. The room and en-suite were ok - bed not that comfy.
Funny bit was the chairs with signs on them telling you not to sit on them in the conservatory! Also a sign in the bathroom Please don't pinch the glasses.
- John (10/5): Our regular overnight haven - A cheerful and friendly host and a cosy bar for our evening meal No comment
- Dawn (9/5): A great place to stay if you are in the area - Owners and staff were super helpful and friendly. Breakfast was great
- Amanda (10/5): Fabulous would recommend - Fabulous place to stay, there was a group of 6 of us staying for just the one night, very spacious and clean rooms, excellent private parking around the back of the pub, just in front of the rooms, quiet location and the pub restaurant served excellent food, both in the evening and for breakfast. Owners were very friendly and helpful, we would definitely stay here again Nothing to not like

- Richard (8/5): -
- ple (6/5): A great stop-over on our way to Skye. - Breakfast was good, evening meal in the pub was good too. Nothing!
- Eurona (8/5): - Comfortable room. The convenience of having a pub that served lovely home made food with very nice staff. Great breakfast. Nothing to dislike
- Phyllis (10/5): Lovely hotel - Lovely room with large bathroom, breakfast was really good, we ate in the bar/restaurant in the evening, food was very nice although large portions, the service around was excellent, would definitely stay here again if in the area. Nothing

- BERTRAND (8/5): - La qualité de l accueil. La chambre. Parfait rapport qualité prix
- Adrian (10/5): -
- Curtis (9/5): Great food, great atmosphere, great hosts! - What a fabulous little find. Pub and food were really tasty. And the hosts were absolutely lovely. Nothing really.
- Sinclair (9/5): Great little out of the way hotel - Nice peaceful country location, but quite remote, so don't expect much to do outside of the hotel.
Plenty guest parking available to rear of pub.
Our room was in the chalet type block to the rear of the pub, which was clean, spacious and comfortable.
Staff all friendly and helpful.
The hotel pub is "ye olde" style, full of charm and evening meal was excellent.
Breakfast the next morning was also very good. Nothing to dislike.
- Stephen (10/5): Beautiful accommodation in a gorgeous location - Excellent old pub in a beautiful location
Lovely food and real ales
Rooms are in the style of chalets and are located at
The back of the pub..
The rooms are beautifully equipped and are really comfy Nothing
- Jackie (10/5): Would stay again and recommend - Had a lovely time and felt well looked after. Friendly and helpful owners and staff.
Traditional inn set in lovely countryside, loved the Motel type accommodation. The rear of the pub was slightly unsightly, especially when sitting outside our room.
- James (6/5): Very good - Breakfast was ok It did not open at lunch time here between 12 and 2 30
I think it could do a bit more
- Paula (9/5): A great place to stay for a few days staycation. - A warm welcome awaited us from the proprietors, who went out of their way to accommodate our wishes. Wheelchair friendly. Room was comfortable and food very tasty. Though the Inn is situated on the main road, there is little traffic and no noise. The inn is set in some truly beautiful countryside, bays, nearby castles and Lochs to explore. Wifi difficult, though was able to use guest Wifi when necessary. The Inn is the only eatery for miles but the food thankfully was really good. Local attractions are several miles away.
- Rick (6/5): Basic, should be cleaner. Friendly staff - Quite peaceful location. A nice character pub. Bed was comfortable. The room was tired, and not particularly clean. The carpet had not been vacuumed, the blind was full of dead flies, shower tray floods. Some might say “ why didn’t you complain to the host ? “ , because you shouldn’t have to , and we’d just driven 6 hours from London.
- David (8/5): Really enjoyed the unwind and my boys enjoyed the food. - Quiet location. Very comfortable room. Very friendly staff. Breakfast was lovely as was the evening meal. Room was very warm !!
- Graeme (8/5): Very good - Staff and food and room Middle of nowhere and needs updating
- Tim (10/5): Exceptional - Very quiet and comfortable room. Food was excellent. Very hospitable host
- Paul (6/5): Pleasant - Clean sheets and spacious room. Mold in shower. Drain not working in the shower so it fills up with water. Room cold, no heating on on a cold day. Carpet dirty. Door with a single lock and does not fit so there are gaps around the door. Ratings indicate a better room standard but clearly it isn't. It doesn't life up to the reviews and properties with similar ratings are alot better.
- Michael (8/5): A good place to stay with nice pub atmosphere. - Nice atmosphere in the bar, evening meal was brilliant (homemade steak pie!), breakfast was really good (local produce?) and given choice of large or small breakfast.
Comfortable bed, good facilities. Initial entrance to room (lobby) bit unwelcoming, but ideal for wet coats/clothing.
All else was really good.
- Paul (6/5): Pleasant -
- Andy (9/5): We had another wonderful day at the farmers Inn, the staff and owners Colin and Jack did everything possible to make sur - I’ve stayed here before and the food is still exceptionally good, the room was very comfortable and in extremely warm conditions the room was cool and also very clean
- Linda (9/5): Superb - Made to feel welcome by the owners, the evening meals of chicken curry and sweet and sour chicken was delicious as was the breakfast
- Megan (10/5): Quiet and beautiful place to stay. - I loved the property, it was clean and well equipped with everything we needed. We loved the area and the ease of getting to it.
- PHILIP (6/5): - We found the beds to be too firm and therefore had little sleep. Everyone was friendly and the food was good
- ian (8/5): - nice room in small detached block to rear of pub, almost like an American motel. Great local pub with good food menu and great cooked breakfast in the morning
- Debbie (5/5): Only go if your not a solo traveller - Breakfast nice, location good The staff were off putting with me, wanted money upfront for my room and food , said he wasn't there in the morning but he was, so lied to me. Don't think he liked solo travellers
Breakfast at 8.am had to be gone by 8.30 and checked out by 9am... shocked
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (10/5): First visit to this area, really friendly locals - Lovely people Leaving
- Andrew (8/5): Very good -

Lovely little pub, great food and superb accommodation which was clean and comfortable. Enjoyed talking with Jackie the owner at breakfast. Would thoroughly recommend.
