Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (8/5): - good guesthouse clear nice territory clear and deep pool
- dale (8/5): Nice and relaxing - Stayed for a week then went to another resort for 3 days. Planed on going somewhere else after that then change of planes and returned to stay for another 10 days you can't beat the price for what you get
- UNSAFE (4/5): Unsafe not recommended for Western or Europeans - No refrigerator very dirty shower area poor drainage large pool of water always in front of sink and toilet NOT SAFE back area and beaches not secured against terrorism attack we had to leave only after 2 days of a 10 night stay because the staff did not show up for work in fear of being involved in a hostage situation only a couple of kilometers from us a western couple were shot by rebels gangs in their rooms we did not get a credit or refund such a pity
- Wenifredo (8/5): Escape to Countryside from busy City Life. - My son enjoyed his stay in Aqua-Landia's version of local swing. We noted the Hospitality of every staff. They could well understand the client's need and performs their each duties efficiently. The food was nice and served hot. There's plenty of space to roam inside the resort area and secured. I will recommend this place to other travellers especially to a Family group.
- J & C (6/5): Nice........but not nice. - This resort was difficult to rate.
The following summary reflects my opinion. My wife would have less favourable ratings.
The easiest way to do this is to list the pros and cons.
Pros/Good
Aesthetically quite pretty.
Located close to Dumaguete and to the boat launch to Apo Island.
Nice swimming pool.
The food was pretty good in the restaurant but a little expensive.
Some of the staff were friendly, others not so.
The rooms were quite nice.
Showers and bathroom were fine. Air conditioner was a little noisy but worked.
There is a diving shop that provides diving adventures.
Cons/Bad
The resort is not quiet.
The resort is less than 50m from the highway and about 200m from the ocean.
So instead of the relaxing sound of ocean waves you get highway traffic noise.
The resort has a barn yard atmosphere. Roosters crowing day and night, barking/fighting dogs, goats and cows.
If crowing roosters might bother you do not stay at this resort and most definitely not in rooms 5-8. The roosters sound like they're in the bathroom.
Stay in rooms 2-4.
Room 1 is for management.
We moved from room 8 to room 2. If we couldn't have made the move we would've left.
The roosters were loud.
Restaurant and bar close early.
Not much to do at the resort. The beach is a 200m walk away but not worth going to.
The wifi doesn't work in the rooms but does on the resort property.
After all that, would I come back?
No I wouldn't.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice hotle to stay for short weeked or holidays - The time at bar restrunent is limted only up to 9 pm,
The hotle is quite and nice the beach only for diving not good to stay or swim.
- Brian (6/5): - Hotel was OK. Bed mattress was uncomfortable and not up to western standards. Food is mediocre and expensive for what you get. They offer airport transfer but is expensive PHP 750 each way.Is to far from the city of Dumaguete if your wanting some night life. However the Staff and Manager Alex were delightful people to deal with.
- Paul (6/5): Ok if you want to get away from EVERYTHING! - A pleasant enough looking resort with spacious rooms, but most accommodation in the area is pleasant and spacious.
It is not really a dive hotel and is 4km from the best dive operators. The evening meals are basic and average at best. Phones and WiFi don't work in most of the resort except in the restaurant, and then they aren't reliable.
That said, staff and management are friendly and helpful and will do what they can to assist.
Next time i would stay at Mike's Dauin Dive Resort - better food, WiFi and phones and right on the beach.
- Aaron (10/5): A Hidden Treasure - This resort is a bit outside the town of Dauin, but you are not going here for nightlife. The rooms are bungalow style and even thought we had a couple right next door we never heard any noise from the other guests. The food at the resort is very good. And the staff was always accommodating. They went as far as setting up a Apo Island dive trip for us for the next morning.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good resort. We enjoyed all. The only problem is they require Philippine Peso for payment,no credit card and no foreign currency.Overall a good place to stay for the money
- Jack (10/5): Beautiful cottage settings and friendly staff - My 8 night stay here was very enjoyable and relaxing and I would recommend a stay here if you're in the neighborhood.
- Terence (10/5): Wonderful and relaxing romantic weekend stay. - We enjoyed a wonderful and relaxing 2 day romantic stay. We promised ourselves to come again.
- David (4/5): Not for us! - This property is a series of cottages. The grounds are lovely, and the food is good. The rooms are basic to say the least. The TV did not work, the internet was so slow as to be useless. No telephone, no cell service. The "memory foam mattresses" are 3 inches thick. In the U.S. we call that a mattress topper, not a mattress! There was very little water pressure to shower with. But the worst was the all night long chorus of chickens! Impossible to get any sleep there! We paid for 3 nights, and only stayed 1. 5 minute walk to the beach.
- John (10/5): a good place to stay - the grouds were well designed and maintained
the room was large and comfortable
- Cindy & Mario (10/5): Most relaxing vacation.. - We really enjoyed our stay here at Aqua-Landia. For the price, this place was better than I expected and will stay here again in our future visits to Dumaguete.
- Verified traveler (2/5): worst experience - This place was horrible. Shower was falling apart. These guys are scam artist. Charged 500 for the "free breakfast". Tried to come to a resolution on the breakfast and they wouldn't budge. Tried to call management and got no answer. There are plenty of other places to stay that actually care about your satisfaction. These guys only want to scam you for money. 1 star at best. Nice pool but don't be surprised if they charge you to use it. Don't believe what they say on the phone. They get you when you leave. I would never recommended this place and warn all who stay to beware!
- tarik (10/5): best staff , clean rooms, good breakfast , - 3 good nights with a nice breakfast 20mn from town which is not a problem as transports is very available
- Verified traveler (8/5): lovely place - enjoyed our stay here very much , really is a lovely place with great staff , beach is a few minutes walk , food is great , as is the swimming pool , so i would recommend this place , only prob is getting there from ferry terminal , but even that isn't too difficult , jeepney , then bus , if you go take your own face mask and snorkel as the ones that were on the boat for trip to apo island left a lot to be desired ! oh and the beach is not white sand , its pebbles ! whammy n whabby
- Nick H (10/5): Great staff and food - This is an excellent resort from which to visit Apo island. The island is about 40 mins by boat from the resort and Ron will organise it at 1000 peso per person for snorkelling. Highly recommended. Food was excellent as we're the staff. We stayed 4 nights over Christmas 2013 and it was a great choice.
- Philip (6/5): Simple dive resort - A nice relaxed place with diving on hand. Good tasty breakfast and some nice options for the evening - with a good pool. Maybe too relaxed for some, our airport pickup never arrived but life's too short to fret...
