Guest Reviews
- Demetria (10/5): Staff was amaizing! Breakfast was great! Will def recommend!! - Clean and comfortable! The staff was amazing! Very proactive N/a
- YOGESH (10/5): -
- J591ZHerink (8/5): Solid stay with great staff and convenient location - This is a fairly standard Residence Inn featuring spacious rooms well-suited for living, working, and sleeping. The facility was very clean, and the staff was exceptionally friendly. It’s centrally located, with several restaurants less than a mile away.
While the hotel is an older style and could benefit from an update, it remains functional. Note that there is a fee for parking; however, it is a secured garage with direct access to the hotel, which felt very safe. There is limited street parking nearby, but it’s hit-or-miss, so we opted for the garage.
Amenities include a very small fitness room and guest laundry, both located in the garage. There is also a very small outdoor pool (best for kids) and a computer available in the business center. Breakfast was decent and met expectations.
- Zamudio (10/5): -
- dlaugh (4/5): Dingy and smelled of smoke - First room smelled very powerfully of cigarette smoke. Got moved to a new room on first floor. Pretty dingy. Faucet leaked, had a fair bit of road noise, and the towels smelled like they'd been in an electrical fire. I would not stay here again.
- Vacationer506259 (10/5): The perfect hotel in all aspects - Not even the smallest complaint. We have stayed at many many RI’s and this one was tops. It was immaculate everywhere ,never a speck anywhere including in heavily used areas. Everything is very modern and the suite is well equipped.
I would like in particular to give acknowledgement to two young women at reception:
Veronica and Theresa. We had a request that was a little difficult to grant and they each went out of their way to try and make it happen. They also remembered our names and each time we came or went they always addressed us by our names and asked about our day. Jun was the housekeeper who always made sure our recycling which was left outside the door was picked up promptly and always asked if there was anything extra he could give us from his chart.
In summary: the perfect hotel .
- Ritika (10/5): Friendly and kind staff, pleasant stay - The furnishings and interior, cleanliness, modern fittings, convenience, water refilling , home kitchen, good breakfast Too far from old town
- Nicole (8/5): Okay choice to choose if one needs a kitchenette for longer stay more than a week. - Location is convenient to where we need to stay. Hotel was in older condition than other Resident Inns. The beds were creaky, sinking, and uncomfortable. Couldn't sleep very well.
- I2297AWkimh (2/5): WORST SERVICE POSSIBLE - This was the worst experience we have ever had and we usually love Marriotts. I never write a bad review but decided to after our experience. The staff is very rude, do not care about the customers, just care about themselves and their bottom line. From the moment of our check in to the end. we had one bad experience after the other, I am sad they do not understand service.
- Eddie (10/5): - Adequate
- Jean (10/5): - This property works out great for us when we visit Del Mar. It offers easy access to the freeway and is a reasonable distance from Torrey Pines State Park and the Pacific Ocean beach. The generous full breakfast offered as part of the booking is a real plus. The staff at this hotel are exceptionally friendly and eager for your stay to be enjoyable. Parking in the underground garage costs extra, but is worthwhile as on-street parking is limited.
- Yearick (10/5): Outstanding service, great room for a reasonable price. - Close to the freeway. Easy parking and close to the room. Very comfortable bed! Nothing.
- Yegor (10/5): -
- Arturo (10/5): - Excellent service
- 437kyul (10/5): Super friendly, top-notch staffs. Best-in-class experience. - My family stayed at the hotel for a month. We initially planned for a 2-week stay but ended up extending it to 4 weeks as we had the most pleasant experience. I've stayed at many Marriott hotels over the years from Ritz HMB to St. Regious NYC and this hotel became one of my favorites, especially considering the cost. Most importantly, the staffs here are top notch, super friendly. Location is very convenient, right next to highway 5, close to plenty good restaurants, grocery, and shopts (Del Mar Highlands Town Center), 5 mins away from Torrey Pines state beach, and the list goes on. I would certainly stay here again when I visit San Diego/La Jolla area.
- Penny (6/5): - The sofa bed was not made up. No sheets or blankets. Did make it up when I asked.
- Zenaida (8/5): - What i like is i can cook my own food. what i dont like is the breakfast food.maybe, more options of food.
- Teresa (6/5): - There was a few flees on the couch, someone kept knocking early in the morning and we looked through the peep hole and it looked like someone was at the wrong door.
- Galina (8/5): - Everything was great except the pillows, they were terrible and super soft, I thought all hotels have changed to memory foam ones.
- Lilimarie (9/5): Great place for families. - Location was great. The staff was very friendly. The garbage truck came early in the morning and woke us up twice.
- Jacqueline (10/5): - Quiet area near restaurants.
- Andrea (8/5): - Good location for my plans. Nice clean hotel! Lots of road noise, but was to be expected given the location. Was pretty quite otherwise.
- Ghatani (10/5): - I love how was easy in easy out. I enjoyed the quietness and efficiency of getting to my room. The staff was really nice as well
- Raul (10/5): - Great time
- 162garimar (4/5): Clean tasting water should be a basic. - We stayed in a suite, but the sofa was so uncomfortable that we could hardly use it. At check-in, we were given two complimentary water bottles—regardless of whether the stay is for just a day or for 20 days. After that, we were told to get water from the fountain near the gym, but even there, there's no working filter. The water tastes just as odd as the tap water in the room.
They mentioned that room service would be provided every other day, but apparently, they don’t come automatically on the second day—you have the right to call every second day to request fresh linen. The location and suit size, however, was good.
- Fe (8/5): Very good - The manager and staff telling me the neighbors could not sleep cuz of the barking of my dog. When the truth is we were with him all night and he never barked. He barked a few when we leave but is quiet after that. The manager and staff telling me that the neighbors could not sleep cuz of my dog when the truth is my dog was with us all night and he never barked.
- Fyregurl (10/5): Exceptional -
- caraf604 (10/5): Incredible stay and wonderful staff - We had a block of rooms for my daughters wedding on memorial weekend! The staff and manager went above and beyond for our event. We had booked at a different hotel that was closer to our venue and about 8 weeks before the other venue had cancelled on us. We reached out to the Residence Inn and the manager matched our rate and were INCREDIBLE!! Even it being a holiday weekend! The staff was so accommodating! We even had bags for our hotel guests that the staff was willing to give out at check in. The breakfast staff was so attentive and not once was any of the food items out. The staff went above and beyond!! The rooms were spacious and having full size refrigerators really helped! They even offered to give us ice when we found out our accessible room did not come with an ice maker in the freezer. I would highly recommend this hotel! I love Residence Inn’s but I have never had this kind of exceptional service before!
- Gerard (10/5): - Comfortable pillow and bed as well great breakfast. Will be back. Thank you!
- Alyssa (10/5): - Loved this stay! Room was super clean. Loved the mini suite aspect. Spacious! Continental breakfast was good too, the workers were very on top of making sure it was stocked and clean.
- Elua (8/5): - It had a dog potty area and we were located close to it. Not sure if this was on purpose but it was so convenient.
- Graciela (10/5): - Absolutely wonderful stay!! Staff is super friendly! Property is neat and clean. Breakfast was the best I've ever had at any hotel I've ever stayed at. Great service!
- jewelld457 (2/5): No security. No safety here. - Please do not be lulled into a false sense of security by the gated parking garage. There are no cameras or safety measures in place to protect guests from break ins or assault. Our car was broken into and the staff was not helpful at all. Worst experience ever sadly.
- RAFA (8/5): - Will stay there again.
- Gaurav (8/5): - Gym is very very basic and underwhelming. Otherwise things are good like any residence inn. Would recommend it
- john (4/5): - I reserved a one bedroom suite but was given a handicap room when checking in . I went downstairs and they told me none was available, I checked in online one day before .Seniors we had to step over a bathtub not safe . Not good . They wanted to change rooms the next day after we settled in .
- Yelena (6/5): Okay stay in a great area - We have stayed here before and it was better. The food quality was not great. They have conference rooms downstairs and sometimes decide to enforce if you can eat in there and sometimes they don't. They also have let us reserve them for free many times for work and suddenly informed us they would charge $30/hour for a room that had no sign indicating that and no one ever using it. The pull out is very uncomfortable so I wouldn't rely on that for another adult to comfortably sleep on. The bathroom did not ventilate very well. The staff are nice and it's a good enough hotel - we were just there for over a week.
- xiaotianvertex (2/5): Rude staff (Maegan) told us "go back to your room" - We stayed at this hotel for five nights with our 4-year-old, and unfortunately, our experience was deeply disappointing. The primary issue stemmed from the unprofessional behavior of the front desk staff, particularly Maegan, and her manager, Hetal Patel.
We had requested an additional cleaning service for our room, which was initially denied in a curt and dismissive manner. After raising the matter with Mr. Patel, he eventually agreed to our request. However, instead of providing the promised extra service, they simply moved an existing cleaning forward and canceled the one scheduled for our final day.
When we returned to our room, we were disappointed to find it had not been cleaned as promised. Upon calling the front desk for clarification, Maegan bluntly stated, "My manager told me not to clean your room," in a provocatively unprofessional tone. This escalated into a heated exchange, and later, during an in-person encounter in the lobby, Maegan rudely told me to return to my room after another argument.
The lack of courtesy and professionalism from the staff left us extremely dissatisfied with our stay.
- Marina (10/5): - Great service, quite
- Ricardo (10/5): - It was great
- Dajka (9/5): Superb -
- Muhammet (10/5): - Very clean. Although mattress and pillows could use an improvement. Helpful staff. Good parking. Good breakfast.
- Vadim (8/5): - Good for the price !
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We found our room to be comfortable and well appointed. The facility was immaculate. The staff members were exceptionally friendly. The daily breakfast offered an excellent array of well-prepared foods.
On-street parking was possible, and we preferred that option.
- John (10/5): - Excellent experience. Friendly staff, great breakfast
- Lauren (9/5): Great location - friendly staff - clean rooms - limited breakfast choices - Friendly staff - clean rooms The breakfast choices I felt were limited.
- Jim (10/5): - Facility was great room was great. Staff was wonderful.
- Sonia (10/5): - Great stay
- Ben (10/5): - it’s a very comfortable property and room. Very good breakfast. The only things I did not like was that there was no safe in the room and no free parking.
- Sergei (10/5): - Good breakfast, comfortable rooms ,quiet air-conditioning, friendly helpful stuff
- KELLY (10/5): - I would prefer to have had a larger patio or outdoor space to relax.
- Jaelyn (5/5): It was decent. - I did enjoy the bed. I also enjoyed how friendly the staff was. I did not like the extra hidden fees. The website said 570 but ended up charging us around 800 dollars. I also didn’t understand paying for parking. The hotel was way too costly for what was provided. The housekeeping rule was very odd to me, you would have to either request it or wait two days for your room to be cleaned. The couch in our suite was very hard and uncomfortable. The membership was also heavily forced onto us. I will not stay here again.
- Maayan (8/5): Very good -
- Paul (7/5): Decent - Value for money Unclean towels. These were replaced with clean ones.
- OnAir48897378954 (10/5): BEST team hotel stay ever!! - I am writing this review as a parent chaperone who travels all over the USA for youth soccer and I can honestly say this is the BEST hotel experience we have ever had as a team. The staff here are AMAZING and went well beyond what they needed to in order to make our stay the absolute best. Every little thing was taken care of from ice to opening up the breakfast area early so the boys could eat before an early game. If you are planning a team trip to San Diego/Del Mar this is the place to go. Thanks to everyone at the front desk (Maegan, Ana, Dhel/Susie, Ketan, and Bernard) for all of your help and great recommendations for places to go and for your general kindness and patience with our large group! Big thanks to Jennylyn, Jude, and Marian in the breakfast area also! You kept these boys fed and happy and you always did it with a smile! The service here feels like what you would get at a small boutique hotel...everyone working here was smiling and engaging and positive and helpful. It's really amazing. We could not be happier with our experience at the Residence Inn Del Mar and we will certainly be back next time we are in San Diego! Thank you guys!!
- Terence J (6/5): - Location was ideal and centrally located for trip itinerary; however, there was "one complaint": no housekeeping beyond the first night of six night stay..unacceptable for a Marriott facility.
- Igo (7/5): Good - Food and location.
- Suprateek (10/5): - Staff (especially front desk) was great and very helpful. Free breakfast service was very good. Overall, excellent and very well maintained property.
Underground parking was quite convenient but pricey. There was a bit of noise from the adjoining gas station and its car wash at times but nothing too terrible.
- Lisa (10/5): - Perfect for what we needed.
- Chinapong (10/5): Exceptional - Everything
- Kristina (6/5): - The air conditioning was so loud you weren't able to sleep. Asked for toilet paper the first night and they didn't bring it, had to go downstairs the next morning to get it.
- kellycK8056RV (10/5): Lovely Staff and Experience - I am taking the time to write this review because of the excellent staff at this specific Residence Inn. Everyone has been wonderful and gone out of thier way to make sure our stay was excellent. The management has put together a great team from house cleaning to front desk.
Thank you for a pleasant 10 day stay and local recommendations!
- Sylvia (9/5): Excellent service, comfortable and clean, great location! - Great location, great room and amenities. Staff was great. The sofa bed was truly awful. We had to go out and buy and twin blow up mattress for our daughter. She was very sore having slept on the sofa bed.
- Vanessa (8/5): - I have nothing to add.
- Frederesa (10/5): - My mom and I had a wonderful stay! The staff was just amazing, especially Ketan and Ana who helped us check in and out. Ana greeted us every morning and Ketan helped us with an early check in. We will be staying here every time we visit San Diego! Breakfast was great and the staff made sure to keep everything stocked and tidy. Perfect space for a 4 day trip.
- Yigal (9/5): Superb - breakfest was good, and i love the location The internet WiFi was very bad,
- Hayden (10/5): Exceptional -
- Julie (10/5): Exceptional - The location was perfect for what we needed. We used the conference room each morning. The motion sensing light came on whenever we got up during the night. We tried to shut it off but did not stay off.
- Qiana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Patricia (8/5): Enjoyable stay, close proximity to many great restaurants and beach. - Nice studios, clean and comfortable Unattractive pool area with small pool and no spa.
- Emmanuel (10/5): - staff friendly
- Akihiro (8/5): - It is close to the office. The sink in the room has a drainage hole, which looks rather dirty and smells a bit. It would be good to sanitize it.
- Mary (10/5): Exceptional - Nice property, small stocked kitchen space, excellent hot shower. Friendly staff
- Mark (8/5): - Nice quiet, hotel friendly staff my only issue was they would not offer me a late checkout when I requested it
- Michael (10/5): - Good overall stay. Would stay at that location again!
- Olgaeagle (1/5): Bad -
- Sasha (8/5): Very good -
- R3QVryans (10/5): Customer service is second to none - Solid breakfast. Great location and the best customer service. If there is one knock (maybe) I thought the room was a little small for three people, but we also had lots of bags for a wedding, so that may be a moot point. Keaton (I think that is the assistant general manager) is awesome and accommodated us like none other. Would book again!!!
- TeheranbornCanuck (8/5): Served our purpose - Basic accommodation that was what we were looking for, near family. Room was large and well laid out, also well lit. Enough in room facilities (kitchen) to allow for very convenient long term stay. Standard type breakfast was served. A missing star is because our complaints about lack of hot water were not addressed.
- Helen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Orange_CAAdam007 (10/5): Great resort with nice rooms and awesome service - All I can say is good things about this hotel. I rarely leave a 5 star review for anything. The front desk check in staff went above and beyond. The customer service was top notch. The room was comfortable and updated. The breakfast was tasty and the staff working it were amazing; very friendly and attentive. The lobby was kept up and small conference rooms were available. All around this was a 5 star stay at this resort. I highly recommend it.
- Roberto (10/5): Very good for solo traveler. - Clean with friendly and helpful staff. Extra fee for parking.
- Josh (7/5): We were at the horse show so was good. - The beds need to be replaced. The mattress were not comfortable.
- Lawrence (10/5): - Limited street parking
- karenlynndunphy (2/5): Meh. Some good and some not. - Room was cheap looking. Dirty carpet, multiple dents in the refrigerator, lack of bedding in room. Embarrassing.
Breakfast staff was sweet.
A couple of the front desk staff were sweet and attentive.
Sweet cleaning crew.
Overpriced and value was not there.
- Blanca (10/5): Great place - The entire room is so nice, the beds are sooo comfortable as well as the pillows. The breakfast was really good. Easy access to the freeway.
- Debra (10/5): - Very nice place close to Del Mar race track just stayed 1 night. The breakfast should be available unti 10.00 A.M.
- Kreis (10/5): Exceptional -
- Samra (10/5): - everything was amazing, from the room to the front desk. Ana helped me out so much and i will forever be thankful to her! definitely will stay here next time i am back in California!
- Alfonso (8/5): - Fast staff
- Robyn (10/5): - The customer service was one of a kind. All staff was attentive and very friendly. They made us feel welcome.
- Chihi (10/5): - It was a very pleasant stay. The room was clean and comfy. And all the staff we met were very nice and sweet. Will definitely visit again in the future!
- Michael (6/5): - Too Noisy, either from the freeway, refrigerator or air conditioner. Bed was uncomfortable. Was like sleeping on a giant marshmallow with two sunken in holes on both sides. Staff was great and place was clean.
- Carlos (4/5): Not up to a marriot quality - Hallways had a bad smell. Sofa bed was impossible to sleep in. It was disappointing comparing to the photos.
- Kimberly (8/5): - Limited street parking so had to pay fee
- Robert (9/5): Close proximity to relatives, shopping and restaurants. - Belle at the front desk was wonderful. The first night, our room was very noisy with outside noise. Belle helped us secure a better room and it met our needs. She was professional, courteous, and personable. An asset to the property. Nothing
- Patricia (8/5): Cool but loud - Very comfortable and quiet. Service was excellent. The AC unit in the bedroom was extremely loud and Internet was weak. TV buffered and Tech support could not get my kindle on line.
- william (10/5): - The Residence Inn was a very nice and clean place to stay. The front desk person that checked me in was very helpful and made a great recommendation to get a tee time for Torrey Pines and it worked! I highly recommend stay at this property if your in town..
- Verified traveler (8/5): Friendly - Was very convenient going to and from different locations. Easy access to many fun things. The staff was amazing specially the breakfast service staff. They took care of any amd all requests and helped out as much as they could with smile on their faces.
- lifestorye (10/5): Such a great hotel! - We came to San Diego the summer of 2021, looking to move into the area. We landed at this long term stay hotel and never left: Residence Inn San Diego Del Mar. As I’m writing this it’s March 2023. We are very focused on our work projects. The idea of looking for housing and furnishing it, seemed daunting. So we decided to stay and we’re immediately back at our desks flowing. We retooled our businesses during Covid. Having this perfect place while we get it built and ready for market, made us high level functioning. It’s a great home office environment, with minimal distractions. All bills included besides phone makes it so easy.
Our one room studio has a two burner stove top, with a deep sink and large refrigerator. The walls are thick, and our loud business calls aren’t heard by any of the neighbors. We’ve checked. It’s quiet, very clean. Three minutes to coast by car. It’s in a very calm neighborhood. Pets are very welcome. It’s was one of the main reasons why we stayed. Finding housing for pets as renters is a issue.
The people who work in and run this hotel are truly great people. All of them. They run it like a ship, and all is always in working order. If not, the repairs happen quickly, which allows us to not loose focus at our desks. Each and everyone of the people who work here have so much care and intention in their work. Always professional, with sincere smiles and loads of warmth. We are so grateful.
