Gode, pæne og rene værelser og dejlig morgenmad. God lille atriumgård og en dagligstue til fri afbenyttelse. Wifi kunne dog ikke nå vort værelse på 3. sal længst væk men virkede eller upåklageligt alle andre steder. Et hotel vi gerne kommer tilbage til.

O café da manhã foi preparado gentilmente pela proprietária, bem antes do horário estabelecido, pois iriamos sair muito cedo. A única surpresa desagradável, mas acredito que o erro tenha sido do hotéis.com., foi com relação a reserva. Através do site efetuei uma reserva para 4 pessoas e a acomodação sugerida informava que o quarto acomodava os 4, porém ao chegar ao local essa informação não estava correta. Tivemos que arcar com os custos de mais um quarto, por sorte havia disponibilidade, porém não deixou de ser desagradável, já que não estávamos preparados para essa despesa adicional.

Propreté, chambre très confortable, salle de bain avec toutes les commodités, décor soigné, salle à manger coquette, petit déjeuner préparé avec soin. Personnel souriant et très accueillant. Bruno, notre hôte, est entièrement dévoué à sa clientèle et à l'écoute de ses besoins. Il nous a aidé à planifier notre journée en réservant une croisière sur le Douro et en nous proposant des sites à visiter. Excellente situation géographique pour quiconque se déplace en voiture pour visiter la région. Paysage à couper le souffle. On nous accueille avec un verre de porto sur la terrasse. L'ambiance est chaleureuse, relaxante et propice aux rencontres et aux échanges, ce qui contribue à enrichir notre séjour. Je garde un excellent souvenir de cet endroit et le recommande fortement. Un merci tout spécial à Bruno!

Bruno recommended a great local restaurant with superb grilled lamb dinner. Quinta do Popa was a great winery we visited, don't be put off by the steep driveway - the view was superb.

Five stars plus !! - This is an outstanding guest house equivalent to a 5 star hotel but with more ambience and the very personable Bruno as your host and wonderful staff. There is a reason why they have won so many awards. The guest house has been beautifully restored, with a very comfortable court yard, large sized rooms and bathrooms & very lovely lounge with books, magazines, television, and board games. The morning breakfast is a gastronomic delight with fresh fruit from Bruno's farm plus local bread meats,cheese and jams. The guest house is located in a small town, maybe a little out of the way, but very convenient for touring the Douro Valley area. If the Douro Valley is your destination do not miss the opportunity to stay here - you will not be disappointed.

Bra gratis wi-fi i fellesområder, men dårlig på rommet.
- jennifer (10/5): unique hotel in vino verde area - This authentically restored house will make you feel like you have entered a movie set. the host Fernando is friendly and helpful and will give you a custom tour of his vineyard and winemaking facilities, followed by tastings on the terrace... not to be missed! He was also very helpful about things to do in the area, but you might just want to hunker down where you are, it is truly beautiful.

The breakfast includes fruits, nuts, jams etc from his farm and are delicious. He is a fantastic guide as well and will provide maps and suggestions for each day to explore the area. The house is impecably maintained. We will be back to visit again.

The room we had was oversized as well as the bathroom. The breakfast is interesting, delicious and abundant! All in all, if you are going to the Douro Valley we would highly recommend this hotel and we hope to return to it again one day!
- Sherley (10/5): Fabulous B&B / Fabulous Host! - After travelling the winding, steep mountain to the quaint town of Armamar, we arrived at the Casa da Farmácia and we loved it instantly! The beautiful iron gates, the welcoming courtyard and especially our wonderfully charming, witty and welcoming host, Bruno, made our first impression a very good one. We arrived a little early, but Bruno immediately checked with the staff to see if our rooms could be readied for us. The rooms were cozy and comfortable and tastefully decorated. Once settled in, Bruno gave us a tour of the B&B and we moved into the bar for our 'welcome drink' and treats. There is a great lounge with a large television, games table, books and fireplace; a very nice bar; a great dining area and a cozy courtyard. Bruno takes great pride in his establishment - which is a historic home built in 1904 and renovated into this beautiful B&B. Although we had our itinerary planned for our stay in the Douro Valley, Bruno provided us with additional sites to see and suggestions for places to dine... all great suggestions. He even arranged for a boat tour up the Douro River - which we quite enjoyed. The Casa da Farmácia is perfectly located so you can reach many wineries, historical towns and sites, the Douro region (World Heritage site by UNESCO), and much more. You would definitely need a vehicle to get around. An unforgettable, very enjoyable stay at the Casa da Farmácia. I would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the Douro region. Thank you, Bruno!

- Sara (10/5): A delightful hotel, with a forever connection - If you're lucky when you travel, you might meet someone who enhances the whole trip due to their thoughtfulness. This would be Bruno, from the Casa da Farmacia. He welcomed us, helped us, treated us to a wonderful breakfast and other goodies, guided us to other good places, and made us sad to leave. The hotel was delightful, clean and comfortable. It is not on the Douro (although close), but has numerous interesting places recommended to visit and experience very close to the hotel. I did not anticipate being able to visit a very good sparkling wine company and have a free tour and tasting. We hope to return, as soon as possible.
- Kathleen (10/5): Love love love Casa Da Farmacia - My husband and I stayed here 2 nights. Bruno is an ourstanding host. He treated us like we were a queen and a king!!! Took a wonderful boat cruise, had a grand meal, and drank wonderful Portugese wine. The pastry shop is to die for!! The room was huge and wonderfully decorated. Breakfast was traditional and more than we could ask for!! Love love love this place!!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Old dated rooms in Armamar - We stayed here for 1 night in May 2015. Our reservation was made few months ago for a twin room, based on the good reviews in Expedia and Tripadvisor! On arrival, we realised that the room we were given was a tiny (hardly room to move or put more than 1 suitcase!), claustrophobic, dated (even the TV was small old type) double room. Very disappointing! Also there are many stairs with no elevator! Parking is near by and even though we reserved a spot, we didn't have one. Wi-Fi is not available in the rooms because of the thick walls. Breakfast was of good standard. We would not recommend this place!
- JOSE (10/5): Lovely hotel on Douro region - We loved this hotel. The staff Ana, the lovely Spanish lady and the owner Bruno did everything they could to make we feel like our home. The welcome Porto wine worth the price w paid for the stay. The breakfast is really good with everything fresh, including “Pastel de Nata”, fruits, squeezed orange juice and much more. The places to visit and restaurants recommendation was a plus. I always ask myself: Why we don’t have places like this in US?

The thoughtfully modernised property was a delight:comfortable, spotlessly clean and located in the lovely Douro area, The proprietor was endlessly obliging, offering advice on outings etc, We would absolutely recommend ordering dinner in the casa, prepared and served by the owner. It was absolutely delicious, reasonably priced and with an excellent choice of wine. This stay was a highlight of our Portuguese tour.
- Jason (10/5): Excellent value on the quiet side of the Douro - A fantastic place to stay, worthy of all the praise it has been getting. Casa da Farmácia is located in the small town of Armamar, a ten-minute drive from the south bank of the Douro, in the middle of breathtakingly scenic wine country. The town itself, though old and dramatically situated, is not as well preserved as some of the others in the region. But this also means that it is a bit off the radar and very quiet and peaceful. Casa da Farmácia is located right in the town--so if you prefer one of the historic Quintas with a pool on a giant tract of land this may not be the place for you. That said, it is less expensive than most Quintas, and gives up nothing in terms of charm, comfort, cleanliness, and food. Ah, the food. José (who owns and runs the inn with his wife Marlene) is a very knowledgable, creative cook, and for 20 Euros per person he will serve you a top-notch four-course dinner worth at least twice the price (I mean this literally: my wife and I ate dinner at the Michelin-starred DOC just down the road during our stay, and José's cooking was just as unique and sophisticated). What is more, he and Marlene are two of the most unpretentious, gracious and helpful hosts you will ever meet. They go out of their way to give you the best experience possible, from detailed day-trip itineraries to tasty snacks for the road (the latter for a very small price). José is also flexible with the menu he offers, and can accommodate dietary preferences.

- Verified traveler (10/5): We loved it!!! - We were a bit skeptic - could it really be so good as all the people described? It was BETTER. It is not only the location - Jose is the person, who turned our stay into the best experience we had so far. He was really taking care of us, we arrived late without lunch and before dinner. He prepared DELICIOUS tapas for us, offered us glass of GOOD porto... Than dinner was exceptional, breakfast as well - we did not want to leave but stay another night, unfortunately it was already booked out. Thank you Jose, you make a difference - it was the best experience ever and we will come back as soon as we can.
- AC (10/5): Superb! - We have spent one night in the Casa de Farmazia. We could not wish more from the small and warm mini-hotel (10 rooms): Jose (the owner), his welcome (with port wine), the cosy room. Every corner of the hotel (reception, reading/TV room, dining area) well thought and architected. The room exceptionaly clean. The breakfest plentiful and rewarding (cold dishes only). We could not wish for more!
- Matthew (10/5): The Most Romantic Hotel in Portugal. - We arrived at the hotel a little early and were met at the front gate by our host/proprietor Jose. He helped us with our baggage and told us that he had upgraded our room. This came with stone walls, 10 foot ceilings and a huge balcony overlooking Armamar. The town takes some work to get to but is on top of a mountian in the heart of what my wife and I have decided is the most beautiful wine region in the world, the Duoro Valley. After we moved in he offered us two glasses of a 15 year old tawny port made by a local friend from his own vineyard. We were able to enjoy these in the building's beautiful, courtyard while Jose set up speakers outside to play Fado and jazz. Jose also cooks dinner if you wish, a personal passion and labor of love. It shows in his updated traditional Portuguese fare. Breakfast might have been even better, homemade yogurt, jelly's, jam's and pastries with coffee and fresh squeezed orange juice. Take the effort to get here as it is hard to find nearly as much value anywhere in Europe.
