Mark (2/5): - Worst hotel I have her stayed in, and I travel a lot! No towels, no soap, no shampoo, no Wi-Fi. Cannabis dispensary across the street made the whole area smell. I had to go and buy my own towel and shower supplies. The staff said “their shipment didn’t arrive”. Doesn’t explain the lack of towels! They didn’t seem to care. Staying at this hotel is like going camping with a bunch of hippies in Herald Square.

Nikolay (2/5): - Where do I begin – let’s start with the positives. We arrived around 11:30 AM and were able to leave our luggage until the room was ready. The staff member who helped with our bags was very kind and cheerful, and the housekeeper on the 12th floor was also lovely. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. We returned around 5:30 PM to check in after a long day in the heat. The receptionist was unfriendly and arrogant. When we asked for the Wi-Fi password, she told us the internet was down and would be fixed on Monday — for now, it only worked in a converted lounge room on the 4th floor. No problem, we thought. Then we discovered there were no towels in the room. When we asked, she bluntly said they had none because the laundry service was delayed — no apology. I told her this should have been mentioned at check-in, and she responded, “I don’t care.” Elevators were also an issue. One is reserved for rooftop bar guests, and one of the other two wasn’t working, so we waited often. The Wi-Fi never got fixed. On Monday we were told it would work on Thursday (our departure day). It didn’t. We were on a business trip and had to work from cafes just to get a connection. I do not recommend this hotel.
Gabriella (2/5): - DO NOT BOOK this hotel. This property fraudulently advertises amenities & services they do not offer. No WiFi, no towels, no toiletries (shampoo & conditioner OR SOAP). The phones in the room don't connect to the front desk, management, nor emergency services - this place is a safety hazard.
amy (4/5): - I am extremely disappointed with this Hotel. It was nothing close to what was advertised. Upon arrival at check-in we were notified that the main Lobby was closed due to repairs and that the WiFi throughout the hotel was also not working. This also meant that the TV and phone in the rooms also weren’t working. Additionally, we weren’t provided ANY towels in the restroom, so we had to find the housekeeper to ask for towels. Lastly and worse of all, the restroom was gross. There were dried streaks of a brown liquid looking substance on one of the walls. Entirely gross experience at this place. Had I know the true condition it’s in, I would have never booked a stay here.

Alexander (4/5): - Going to this property we checked in and got no information on anything about the hotel regards to service, rooftop dining hours, usually hotels will make sure you are accommodated from the jump and give as much info. The room had a nice look but after being in there for no more than 2 minutes I noticed stains on the walls, the bed sheets had hair all over them, and then on top of that the chair was broken and so was the air conditioning. There were no towels in the room as they “are trying to save water” when doing laundry. There was no soap or any amenities. When I had to ask for towels they look at me like I was a lunatic. There is no accesible deck because they are bolted shut. Only thing is the nice rooftop dining, but if we never asked about it we wouldn’t have known. The location was great it was close to Times Square but the service and looks of the hotel room were horrible. Oh and I almost forgot, please expect the lovely housekeeping (respect you for your job) to bang on your door 2 hours before check out time lol.

Verified traveler (8/5): Convenient, clean and comfortable. - Great location/ kind and helpful staff- nice rooms, but old rug and sofa, needs a little updating but more importantly- clean beds and bathroom- and a small gym; those are my top preferences and this hotel had that. Not super quiet- but it is close to 34th street and that is a lively/touristy area. I loved the ease of getting around and to work. Not great for working in the room if you are big on remote working and zoom meetings. That said, I would stay here again.👍
jane (8/5): Short stay May 2025 - The welcome we received from Johnny and his colleague was amazing best we have had in USA. The room was generous to NYC standard and the location is fabulous. The wifi did not work for the entire stay (nor did the TV) no ability to make a cuppa but a great little fridge. We would definitely stay again and compared to other same range hotels I stayed on this trip in NYC it was good value. Both the men whom helped with the luggage were great. G

Although the bed and bathroom were clean the walls and sofa definitely weren’t. The price was definitely high for the facilities, but it’s good in a pinch.

We had pillows and towels. The suite had 5 windows with excellent views. The bed was comfortable. I would gladly stay here again. It is not a “luxury” hotel but provides a lot of value at the price.

Patricia Maria (6/5): - You get what you pay for. A relatively clean, relatively comfortable place to sleep and that’s it. A bathroom with a bit of soap and no other amenities, no towels, shampoo, nothing. If your focus is to enjoy the city and just get some shuteye at the hotel, this is a good place for you. There are many options to shop and eat around the area and the subway entrance is right outside. The rooftop bar gives you a wonderful view of the Empire State Building so that’s a highlight. I stayed here for its availability and location as I’ve stayed in the area before. Probably won’t come back if I find a better option at a competitive price. It could have been worse, an OK place to stay.
Elizabeth (4/5): - The staff was friendly and helpful. Room was shabby, we stayed on 17th floor, a lot of ceiling damage along the window side of room. NO toiletries, or hair dryer. The pullout bed had a damaged mattress, stuffing coming out and stained. I reported it and they brought a topper while we were out. Main bed was clean and comfortable. Not worth $500 !!!

The room phone had designated buttons for various services, but would not connect to the front desk, to the cleaning, to the manager...to anything! The room had no coffee maker, not even any cups of any kind. I spoke to the nice fellow at the front desk and he told me the staff has been complaining to management for a very long time, they hear these kinds of complaints every day.

No shampoo, only two bath towels, no hand towels, no bath mat, no coffee machine, no iron and no hair dryer. Bed was comfortable. Housekeeping staff were lovely. Front desk staff miserable. Location great. Poor amenities. Ok for somewhere clean to lay your head after a long day but don’t expect much else.
Verified traveler (6/5): Great area - Average stay - It was in a great location & our interactions with the staff were friendly, but it could use some upgrades. We only spent one night, but there were some major cosmetic issues, some strange stains on the headboard & the TV didn't work at all.
Leo (2/5): Do not believe 10/10 reviews - This is possibly the worst hotel I have ever stayed in, it’s even worse than the motels along the interstate. It’s in desperate need of an update. The rooms are sterile and extremely basic. The window didn’t close so it was extremely noisy. The other reviews must’ve been staying in a different hotel or paid to make a positive review because their reviews do not reflect the true state of this place. I do not recommend this hotel.

Asked for a room changed and went from 2 double beds to a king bed with pullout couch. Room was better, pullout was ok but not overly comfortable. Had to ask for bedding and towels. Staff was very friendly.

Wai Chi (10/5): A home away from home hotel very down to earth . - Stayed here before . Came back this time as a couple to stay 2 nights pre-cruiseWe arrived at the hotel in the morning . The girl at the reception ( forgot her name ) on Feb 7 was very nice and allowed us to check in early so that we could settle in and have a rest from our early morning flight . Room is comfy and clean and large enough to do its job . The hotel location is unbeatable right beside subway station which can take you anywhere in the city . Not to mention it has nice gym which is really something for me . All in all , will stay at this hotel again when coming to NY again .

Laura (10/5): Impressive! - It was crazy to read some of bad reviews of this place beforehand and it had me a bit nervous before I booked, but was looking for a budget friendly hotel for 5 days in the city and wanted one in this area, so I took the chance. It was phenomenal! The room was incredibly generous with its size for NYC, including a small couch table and chair, plus desk, fridge, safe and wardrobe closet. Nice size bathroom as well. Bed & furniture were very comfy and the views were outstanding. There were other reviews saying problems with : heat, cable tv, no towels - I did not encounter any of these issues at all. All staff encountered during my stay were friendly, helpful and polite - but especially Jonathon who was so welcoming and made my stay even better. I stayed on the 15th floor, corner room King suite and would recommend! There is a lounge one the 4th floor, room 412, that offers vending machines and a few couches & bathroom. Entrance is marked by ‘8 Herald Square’ & glass doors have hotel name on them. This entrance is shared with Monarch bar which is separate elevator, that offers food drinks and a breathtaking rooftop view of the city. The lobby is small, but check in/out was efficient, plus security present. $2 per bag luggage hold which was fantastic as well as i had a late flight out. I will definitely stay here on my next visit! Amazing bargain for the quality of hotel!

CLARIBEL (10/5): Best location - The best thing about the hotel is its location, literally next to the station to take any of the yellow or orange lines. It is close to the main stations such as Penn Station and Grand Central. It is not a luxurious hotel, but it is comfortable and very well located. The lobby staff is very friendly and helpful.
Verified traveler (6/5): Hotel was basic - Basic hotel that met our one night stay needs. Some things were lacking... Charge to leave bags after check, no yissues in the room, pillows were flat and when we asked for extras they were not available, only trash can was in the bathroom, shower curtain is too short so no matter how careful we were the floor got soaked

Jeffrey (8/5): - The location is perfect. Right next to the subway, the walk to Times Square is not too far, Macy’s and other stores are also very close. The property was hit and miss. Staying there during winter I was grateful to have a working air conditioner that allowed for both cool and hot air. The servicing of the room was inconsistent - sometimes clean thoroughly sometimes not. Would I stay here again, I probably would. The overall experience was great, same as the location. It’s just that the consistency on the upkeep of the property could be worked on.
gen (10/5): - Out of the three hotels I’ve stayed in. This was the most convenient hotel! Right next to time square and koreatown. It was the best place to be if you were looking to shop and eat. Staff was also super nice! The room was not as modern as I’m use to but we had an excellent view!! 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking to stay near time square.

Alfredo (8/5): - The toilet was leaking water nonstop; the doorstop was broken off the wall and someone just pushed it in; the lamps cover by the bed was torn, the lamp on the desk didn’t work. The elevator button had broken and it was glued back in (upside down lol). Room was clean and bed sheets were very clean and very tidy. Everything looked old. There was a homeless man sleeping outside the door of the hotel; with bed comforter and everything. Location was great.

Jonathan (2/5): DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL - The first issue is they don't take AMEX for the incidental charges so i used my debit card. They next my debit card was compromised and being used at a cvs in Houston TX. Second issue the first room i was put in was a handicap room with scaffolding hanging from the ceiling in the bathroom. Was moved to another room that was the size of a shoebox. Third room was a normal size but had a mildew smell but at this point i just wanted a shower. Go in the bathroom wood missing from the counter finally take a shower at the water doesn't drain

Lawren (2/5): Not worth the money - The room was spacious and pretty comfortable. The internet was down for all of day one and part of day two. I had to cancel a work meeting because of this. Additionally the TV didn't work the entire time. I also had the DND tag on my door and housekeeper knocked on the door repeatedly I finally answered and pointed to the DND sign she asked if I was checking out. Ridiculous. I booked this last minute and the rate was way too high for the quality. It was definitely worn and in need of some updates and repairs.

Vivian (6/5): - Near subway & other attractions. I picked the hotel due to the location near subway & other top attractions. Beautiful view from the rooftop bar, but it seemed like a separate restaurant and not just for hotel guests. We did not have a reservation on a Friday night, but lucked out and was able to spend about an hour there before a scheduled reservation arrived. The hotel is not clearly identified on the outside. We walked by it twice and went to the hotel next door that told us where it was. Our room was clean but very basic. No refrigerator, no microwave, no washclothes. We asked at the front desk twice for washclothes, but they couldn’t find any. This seems to be a common problem from other reviews. Ended up giving us an extra hand towel. The rooftop bar next door was right outside our window & played extremely loud music very late. It was a Friday night, so not sure if that’s just a weekend thing or not. Overall, it was just ok for one night. Not sure I would want to stay longer than that.

It is a good location, close to Times Square, Penn Station, State Empire Building, Macy's. The room is big and clean. The power point to the freezer is broken. We paid security deposit $150 that was returned when we checked-out.
