• Ernst (8/5): Prima standhotel. Ontbijt wel elders. - Locatie was prima. Mooi aan het strand. Wij hadden een kamer met zeezicht en balkon. Het zwembad was ook erg fijn. Wij hebben 1 keer ontbeten in het hotel. Voor 2 kleine yoghurtjes, 1 muffin uit de magnetron - akelig - en 2 kleine koffie betaal je - plus de verplichte fooi - zo’n 45 dollar. Walgelijk duur. Tip: ga lekker ontbijten bij de Sunflower Bakery in Galveston. Toptent voor goed, lekker en gezond ontbijt.

I was lied to several times before arriving about parking and price talked to the asst manager but she kept calling me a liar. I reported her and others to corporate. Normally I just let things go but being called a liar didn’t set well to me. We had issues with staff at both Marriott properties. I’ve been a member for years with my business and never once complained.

• L5578UEkellieb (8/5): Excellent staff, great value for money - Friendly, helpful staff and good food/drinks in the bistro area. The bistro is far beyond what one might expect from a hotel in this price range and the staff were attentive and kind. The patio and pool areas were also surprisingly upscale. Location is perfect if you want to be on the seawall, but away from the crowds and traffic further east. Close to public access points for the western beaches. My only reason for not giving this hotel a 5/5 rating is that I did not find the bed and pillows to be quite comfortable. For my taste, the bed was too soft and the pillows were too firm. However, this would not keep me from returning giving the high quality of other amenities and excellent staff.
• billbQ4188CZ (4/5): An IMperfect Cruise Experience - We booked a package titled “The Perfect Cruise Experience”. It was anything but. The elevators from the garage was broken causing us to lug all our bags up a steep dow/up ramp to the lobby. We were allowed to park our vehicle there for the week we were on the cruise. A free shuttle was advertised but since it had limited availability we would have had to wait 3 hours to take us 8 miles to the cruise port. We took an Uber to the port. The room was comfortable. Spartan, but adequate with a loud wall mount A/C unit. A $20 credit was part of the package to use in the minimal coffee shop. We bought two coffees and were charged over $15. No credit applied, the charge was added to our bill. At the termination of the cruise, the shuttle was to pick us up. It was a “no show”. We took an Uber back to retrieve our vehicle. This was a poor showing by Marriott and after communicating with the front desk, they indicated it would all be taken care of by the manager. So far, nothing has been done. We do NOT recommend hotel for your pre- or post- cruise stay. There are better properties at a lower price rate.
• rickbI3710PQ (6/5): Too far from restaurants and shopping. No breakfast included. Pass on this motel. - Hotel seems clean and staff nice. Floor noise is loud so get a room on the upper floor. No breakfast included however they do have a kitchen. The prices are outrageous. Also, this motel is far from restaurants so plan on spending a lot on transportation. Probably better to pay higher price on motel where you can walk to shop or eat. The gym is nice. Two treadmills but only one works. Same for elliptical only one of two works. Overall I would pass because of location and no breakfast.

• Rhonda (2/5): Did not meet expectations - That it was across the street from the Gulf. It was beautiful during the day. The toilet leaked (towels were used to keep from flooding the bathroom. The refrigerator had food from previous guest(s). The only charger was on the couch away from the bed. So, had to pull the night stand out only to see that it was filthy. You could not see the Gulf at night because the parking lot lights were so bright. The night desk charged my card $40 at 11:30pm. I called and inquired about the charge. He stated that it was in the fine print that they charge $20/day for incidentals. However, I was only stating one night. When I brought that to his attention, he said he guessed he looked at the guest count instead of the number of nights. I was not told at check-in that my card was being charged. At check-in the front desk gentleman just stated it was in case of incidentals (which is usual at other hotels). For the price and the company name, I expected much better.

• elainedV5349XT (6/5): Too far from where it’s all happening - Whilst the hotel is clean (with an amazing view over the Gulf) and staff friendly it’s too far out of the way. If you want to be where it’s all happening this isn’t the hotel for you. Nothing around it, no diners or coffee shops (little restaurant not open til 7am on weekends so can’t even grab a coffee) The $1 Trolley Bus doesn’t even come down this far… it’s a 2 and half mile walk to nearest bus stop or you have to keep calling cabs. Personally, would have preferred being near the Pleasure Pier or Stewards Beach areas.

The morning we were checking out I was in the shower and I spotted a cockroach. We were able to capture and flush it down the toilet. Glad it was the morning when I spotted it or we would have not been able to sleep. I mentioned to the front desk clerk at check-out and he said there isn’t much they can do as cockroaches are in the area due to being near the seawall.

We also report the wifi which doesn't work. Shouldn't offer free wifi on that conditions. We chose courtyard over other options even more cheaper because we thought it will be a better experience. But we were wrong. In the end, no one apologized for the inconvenience.

• 832Timbo (8/5): Great Island Place to Stay - Fantastic experience. The staff was great and always upbeat. The pool was enjoyable and the food was not your usual hotel fare. It was very good. A lot of cruisers choose this hotel even though it is not real close to the cruise terminal, but I understand why. A couple of areas of improvement: No welcome gift offered even though we are Gold Elite. The window in our room was fogged over restricting our view of the Gulf of America. Use caution, the room doors are insanely heavy and close with a vengeance.

• Verified traveler (8/5): Cleanliness is important! - The room was beautiful and spacious with a great view of the beach. The only problems were the cleanliness of the room. Paper was torn off the bedside tablet, bunched up and left on the bedside table when I arrived. The cleaning staff did not trash it when they were cleaning the room. Also there was a small amount of trash left in the trash can in the bathroom. The cleaning staff did not do a good job of cleaning the room. When I conveyed this to the front they were not apologetic and didn’t seem concerned.

I used to be a Marriot frequent member before I retired, this was the worst hotel in all of my travels across America.

• Munira (2/5): Massively disappointing. What is advertised is definitely NOT what you get. - Just location - close proximity to the beach, parking and the cleanliness of the rooms. The pool area was also lovely. The fact that they didn't fulfil the request for a wheelchair accessible room where the child is unable to walk. They said breakfast was included but when we got there and went down for breakfast this was not the case. The hotel staff at the reception area were not helpful at all.

I’m only 5’4”& it was ridiculously low to the floor! Funny thing was the lobby women’s restroom had a normal size toilet! No hot tub but pool was used by both Marriott’s, which I’d pretty smart. No coffee, unless I want to pay the Bistro $4 for a coffee. Miller,s doesn’t even charge that!

• 476alexisj (4/5): Downhill - First off: the pool was a horrible experience. The pool water was cloudy. But my kid really wanted to swim so we cross our fingers it won’t make us sick. On our second visit to it was about 7pm and was an okay vibe with about 25 people. But then about 30 minutes later a whole bunch of families came in that were obviously not staying here (17+ people) and had no day pass bands or resort bracelets. They had multiple band aids on and one girl kept messing with her open sores on her legs. The kicker was: We saw a woman ROLL A JOINT. They were trying to hide it and a couple of the men she was with were blocking her from view. Their kids were throwing the landscape rocks, for my child’s safety we just left. Second: Our room door wouldn’t shut. Every time we wanted to leave our room we spent ten minutes messing with the door handles. We had to call maintenance to help us leave. The coffee maker didn’t work at all. The light would come on then turn right back off. Third: the staff. Lukewarm staff. No smiles from anyone. The coffee bar was never open. Our room wasn’t ready on time. We have stayed here at least once a summer for 6 years and are Bonvoy gold members with the Amex. We will not go back.

• Lcd (10/5): Great stay...again. - This was our third stay. The staff is great. Our room was very comfortable, very clean and stocked with enough towels, etc. for four. I cannot think of one thing.
