- Barbara (8/5): - This property is just a few minutes out of town, not really walkable. Parking available right outside the room. The room was clean, the beds were comfortable and the towels were fluffy. Hot water immediate and plentiful. Tiled shower was spacious, with products provided. Room had a tv, air conditioner, microwave and fridge. We didn’t need the radiator, we visited in August. It DIDN'T have clothes hangers, bath mats, or anywhere to sit inside (except the beds). We did enjoy the view from the Adirondack chairs outside. It was reasonably priced, well located, clean and comfortable. I'd stay there again.

Not fun at 10 PM at night when its below zero. It took me 10 minutes to finally get the door open. Room next door to me had a dog that barked during the night and in the morning. . Disappointing experience

- Susan (6/5): - I expected a bit more based on previous reviews. That being said, the location is great and it has a lot of potential with little fixes. The outdoor space is nice. My biggest complaint is no towel rack or hook in the bathroom! No place to hang towels or clothing. There were holes in the wall where they used to be, but no longer there. No cups in the bathroom, no tissues, the mini fridge had a big block of ice that blocked the freezer and part of the fridge. There was a very strong air freshener smell - not unpleasant, but if you have a sensitivity to fragrances, it could be a problem. I didn’t realize they recycled until I saw the dumpster on the last day…a sm separate bin for recycling would be good. They were “out of” tickets to Hildene. When I asked at Hildene, I was told that they no longer have a membership. Maybe they don’t ever have discounted tickets anymore? Keurig coffee in the office, not in the room. Complimentary snacks and water were nice.

No other introduction. I was either unable to figure out how to work the air conditioner, or it was broken -- the room never did get down to 76 degrees. The "grab and go" breakfast was a Keurig with coffee and tea and a granola bar -- not really a "breakfast'". I was disappointed.

- M2384LBjulieb (8/5): Cozy, clean and affordable. - We discovered this great place to stay by pure coincidence and we would definitely return. Affordable, recently and tastefully renovated, the beds are very comfortable and the room is exceptionally clean. The bathroom has been renovated with a large tiled shower including shampoo, conditioner and body wash. The owner is super friendly and the staff are very attentive to detail. Snacks and a light grab and go breakfast are offered. It's fun to sit around the fire pit and watch the stars. We found the location great as it is close to shopping, good restaurants, hiking and site seeing. We would definitely give it a thumbs up!.
- PamelaF1969 (10/5): I’ll be back!!! So clean and just what we needed. - Just wow! We came to check out the hiking and get away and couldn’t have picked a better place to stay. Their grab and go breakfast had Keurig a coffee maker and enough food to get me through to lunch. The rooms were clean, super comfortable bed and pillows, air conditioning and so quiet. We were able to hike Equinox, visit Abraham Lincoln’s son’s summer home and gardens in full bloom, and have 2 gourmet meals a few minutes away from where we were sleeping. A bonus was their fire pit when we got back after dinner. Happy to meet our hosts. I’ll be back.

- cull_family (6/5): Bring ear plugs! - Just because you want to go see the fall colors in Vermont is no reason for inns and hotels to charge people half a month’s mortgage or rent payment just to sleep in a comfortable bed for one night. This is what many places in Vermont do. Stanford Motel was NOT one of those other places, so this is what attracted me in the first place. This may yet change after they are finished with all their renovations. But for the moment, they are charging reasonable prices and not the $300+ per night price tag that even a “moderately” priced hotel, such as Hampton Inn or Holiday Inn Express, are charging during the month of October in the state of Vermont. This all being said, I didn’t find the Stanford Motel to be a “comfortable” place to sleep. The mattresses were comfortable enough for sleeping, but not equipped to handle “marital relations” with their split king beds (actually two twins slammed together). But the motel comes up short on room temperature controls and noise. Our room was HOT. We were in room #6, which is located right over the boiler. The thermostat on the wall meant nothing. I had to sleep with the windows open all night long and this allowed to conversations of noisy neighbors to come into our room or cigarette smoke from people smoking outside of our window. The comforters on our beds were also unhelpful. They use those stupid duvets that many chain hotels have resorted to using. I am not a fan since they trap your body heat AND your partner’s body heat underneath and don’t allow the body to cool down. So I had to go out to my car and bring in one of my thinner blankets from home. Noise: BRING EAR PLUGS in case you are in one or the first floor units. The people in the room above us either were trying to get “their steps in” or had horses with them all night long. There was constant “clomp, clomp, clomp” overhead as we were trying to relax and sleep. I was happy with their renovations, except for the floor coverings. They really need, at the very least, a couple of throw rugs. I don’t like walking on hard floors in my bare feet. But they do have fridge and microwaves in the rooms, and this is a plus.

The property was undergoing renovations when we stayed, so understandably things were a bit out of sorts. I would definitely stay there again. It was just fine for us, and the renovations will only make it better. Very cute property!

The rooms are always clean and comfortable. Nippers is always delicious and convenient. The owners are always friendly and accommodating. The location is perfect for a few different mountains, and Manchester is a great town.
- 628pearld (10/5): A true taste of Vermont! - I love staying at the Stamford! It's everything you expect and enjoy in a Vermont family owned establishment. It's like staying at Grandma's house but with all the modern amenities. Extra bonus, gourmet food on site! Right off scenic Route 7, it's convenient to all the leisures of downtown but you still feel like you're off the beaten path! Highly recommend!
- leftwing (8/5): Good place to stay - A great choice to stay if you don't want to spend a lot on lodging in the Manchester area. Our room was spotless and nicely appointed. The bed was very comfortable; it was quite high off the ground (take note if that could present a problem). The bathroom was great and the shower is beautiful. We heard no noise from the room next door. The motel is on the main road, so it can be noisy, but with the windows shut it was fine. There was nice seating outside the room and we chatted with our neighbors. We got there a little too late for dinner, so I can't say how that was. It's a shame that they aren't doing breakfast at this time. When we left nobody was in the office. I would have loved to connect more with the owners. One small negative is that the parking lot needs some repair.

The hosts are welcoming and accommodating. I will stay here again! As of this writing the cafe is not open until fall. According to the locals, the food is great.

The room was fantastic with lots of personal touches that went above and beyond. The shower was amazing! You had great views, a comfortable bed, solid air conditioning when needed, and quiet. Despite being on the main road, we rarely heard noise from outside (guests or traffic).
- RMA1984 (10/5): Great place to stay and a wonderful view - We booked our stay here for a wedding in the area instead of going to one of the more expensive hotels and we were not disappointed. The room was very clean with a large shower and a comfortable bed. Just outside the door were two chairs where you could sit to read and enjoy the beautiful view. The restaurant had just reopened when we stayed there and they were no yet serving breakfast. We did, however, have a delicious dinner there the night we arrived. In fact, we had such an enjoyable time, we have already booked a weekend to come back up in the fall.

- johntpage (10/5): Clean, comfortable place to relax - I loved staying here. The hosts are genuine and friendly, and they keep the building and grounds very well-maintained. The location was ideal for me because it is near all the conveniences of Manchester and is only a ten minute drive to the beautiful Bromley Mountain long trail. Additionally, I felt that the motel was especially safe during the pandemic because I never had to enter a common area or have close contact with others in order to enter my room.

- 115cheyannef (10/5): One of our Favorites - We travel to Vermont very often, with Southern Vermont being a great weekend get away! We have stayed at the Stamford may times because it is one of our favorites. The location is perfect, Being close to the center of town while be out far enough to have your space. The little fire pit out front is perfect for those fall nights. We love how it’s a motel setting, so each room has its own door outside. Help or info is always just a quick call or text away. When we last visited, we had texted for some ice, it was outside our door in less than 5 minutes! Check in and check out are always quick and easy and contactless! A good choice!

I stayed at the Stamford once before, so it was an easy decision to go back. In COVID time they had contactless check in and check out. The room was comfortable and clean as well as recently renovated. It was a great landing spot for the hiking and walk about town that we were there for. If you’re heading to the slopes, it’s a comfy place after being out in the cold

- Verified traveler (4/5): - This is just a roadside dated motel. No cafe or restaurant open during Labor Day weekend. Not the cleanest. They will charge you earlier with the excuse of contactless checkin, which by the way, is nothing more than arriving at your unlocked room with the door keys hanging on the outside. I made the reservation through Expedia and wished to use a different CC when checking in but the extremely rude person who contacted me, Karen (ironic!!), demanded my CC # over the phone, which she was writing down on a piece of paper when talking to me over the phone, while away from the property (her own words). She would then run it at a later time when back to the property. She also did not see what the problem was with this scenario. Very rude, unpleasant, and unprofessional, as a got a personal text message at 9:43pm on my first night questioning me about my review on Expedia. To sum up, find a better place to stay.
