• Ele (6/5): Didn't meet expectations despite the owner is so lovely - The location is incredible. Right in the centre of Lecce and lots of restaurants nearby. The property is originally from 1400, then restructured in 1800. It is beautiful and very Italian (I am Italian myself). Despite the owner being an incredibly lovely lady, she needs help organising all guests and being up to speed. Communication is quite hard as I presume she has hearing issues. There is a man helping with cleaning but the property would benefit from some love. Bathrooms were not clean, we thought we had a private terrace but it wasnt private (shared with other guests) and full of dust. Definitely NOT like the pictures. This is a beautiful house full of wonderful memorabilia from their family, however if you expect something more "hotel" vibes I would go somewhere else. The price for a night doesnt not match what you receive. From the facilities to the customer service. Again, everyone super lovely but it is not what is advertised.

Das historische Gebäude mit seinen 29 Zimmern, eingerichtet im Stil des 18. Jahrhunderts, ist ein echtes Juwel. Alles ist perfekt gepflegt, liebevoll restauriert und strahlt eine einzigartige Eleganz aus. Die Lage ist absolut zentral im Altstadtkern – alle Sehenswürdigkeiten, Restaurants und Gassen sind fußläufig erreichbar, und dennoch ist es im Palazzo angenehm ruhig. Eine perfekte Kombination aus Komfort und authentischem Lecce‑Flair. Besonders hervorheben möchten wir die Gastgeberin, die uns mit großartigen Empfehlungen versorgt hat und unseren Aufenthalt noch persönlicher und angenehmer gemacht hat. Für uns war es ein unvergessliches Erlebnis. Eine klare Empfehlung für alle, die Lecce auf besondere und stilvolle Weise erleben möchten. wir haben nichts auszusetzen

Generous breakfast portions, huge rooms and fascinating furnishings in Palazzo turned B&B Nothing really apart from a little confusion in the room allocation meaning we changed rooms though it was fun to check out each room with its own character!
• Kevin (10/5): - Isabella, our host, was sweet and kind. She put out an impressive spread for breakfast and doted on everybody making sure everyone was happy. She made an AWESOME recommendation for dinner that was the best of our two weeks trip. She presented us with a pumo on our last day. The place is absolutely incredible! It truly was like sleeping in a museum, but in a very good way. The location is perfect, a five to 10 minute walk to everything. The wifi was not very good. It didnt work in our room so we had to go into a common room to use it. Thats the ONLY complaint during our wonderful experience.

Sadly I have mobility issues, hence having to use stairs to get into the property wasn’t easy for me - there is however a sturdy hand rail on the stairs ( about 17 steps).

• heidi (10/5): Simply perfect - This was an absolutely exceptional stay! Isabella (the host) showed us so much kindness and truly made our trip so special. The palazzo is beautiful, decorated with so much wonderfully curated art, which makes staying here magical and unlike anywhere we’ve ever visited before. Moreover, Isabella truly went above and beyond for us, we requested a vegan breakfast (which we are aware can be difficult to accommodate so did not expect much) but when we came to breakfast Isabella has prepared an absolute feast with every possible option you can imagine - it really is the best hotel breakfast we have ever had! We could not recommend Palazzo Bernardini highly enough, it is truly the gem of Lecce!

Isabella was a charming host, very helpful in recommending restaurants and booking them for us. Location is very central, our third visit to Lecce and still amazes us with its beauty! The property is in the ZTL (limited traffic zone) so beware of the timings in accessing the property.

• Scott (8/5): A very nice stay in a highly personal family home that just happened to be a B&B. - The breakfast was a good traditional southern Italian breakfast. Very attentive service. The Palazzo was super central. The initial access to the Palazzo was a bit hit and miss. We knew it was the building but were unsure what floor or side of the building was the entrance.
• Lana (10/5): A surprisingly delightful, informative stay, learning about Lecce through Isabel’s graciousness. - Location is excellent in the old city, away from bars, or restaurants ‘ sounds. The host, Isabella, is such a gift. She is open, friendly, and curious, with such an intelligent mind. She is eager to help make your holiday the best possible. For breakfast, you may receive prosciutto, speck, fresh mozzarella, or provolone , different kinds of breads or toast, different preserves, and honey, yogurt with a little cinnamon and honey Greek style that you can add a nice fresh banana to. If you want eggs, she can do that for you as well. Coffee is lovely and you have a choice of natural or frizzante water. There’s always a bowl of fruit for you to enjoy throughout the day. In the cool season, I love having the radiators turned on to keep the room warm and to dry my clothes that I need to occasionally hand wash out. Beds: I think she’s putting memory foam on all the mattresses. It’s in the room I stayed in. The bed was comfortable and I slept well. There are mini splits in the room for your own temperature control if you’d like it. If you do have your own body wash, shampoo, and conditioner, bring that. Basic soap and a liquid body gel of some kind is supplied, but you may want to bring your own. Wi-Fi is good other than when you’re in the bathroom. What makes this stay a 10 is Isabel. She is multilingual and will try to speak English with you if you would like. She was a professor of Greek literature and Greek dialect and has a love of European history, especially Greek, Turkish and Italian. Her home is decorated with antiques, religious artifacts, and delightful contemporary art, and hundreds of years old religious oil paintings. Staying in her palace is like living another life for a short time. It’s wonderful. Hopefully your timing will be good and maybe you’ll be able to share a meal with Isabella and discuss all kinds of topics of interest. She’s a wonderful host. I like more water pressure in a bidet. Otherwise, everything is just great.

• Jessica (10/5): This was one our favorite stops in Puglia, we would love to come back and would be so happy to stay here again. - Isabella’s space is absolutely stunning, it’s like getting to stay in a museum. The room itself was very spacious and the terrace doors that opened onto the quiet street were beautiful. Isabella is so warm herself and gave us really good recommendations in the town. We loved it — only thing If you have a car, the parking inside is a little bit tight but still doable and so nice to not have to worry about/search for parking.

• Bretton (10/5): A Magical Stay in Lecce - From the moment we met our gracious host, Professor Isabella, at Palazzo Bernardini we knew we were in for a treat. It truly was the highlight of our week's stay in Puglia. Isabella was always friendly and helpful with recommendations and served a delicious and varied breakfast herself with ease and charm making us feel as if this was our home. The accomodation was truly elegant and palatial with beautiful antique furniture throughout and wonderful artwork which had been handed down over the centuries adorning every wall. The location of the palazzo in the heart of the historic centre was close to many excellent restaurants and the sights of interest. We would love to return one day. Everything was perfect!

• Stephen (10/5): An unbelievable find in Puglia's most beautiful and enchanting city - Our stay at Palazzo Bernardini Suites was the highlight of our three-week vacation in Italy. This beautiful 15th Century palazzo in the heart of Lecce's historic center was an unbelievable find, with every wall adorned with impressive art from various periods (including a 15th Century fresco that was uncovered in the course of some restoration work) and its proprietress, Professoressa Isabella Bernardini, is a font of local and historical knowledge, and a truly wonderful host. The accommodations were just outstanding, as were the plentiful breakfasts of sweet and savory choices, juices, and cappuccino coffees served by our hostess herself. She went out of her way to recommend restaurant choices and things to do not only in Lecce but in some of the other towns we were visiting in the course of our stay. If I should ever return to Lecce, this is the only place I would want to make absolutely sure was available before I booked my trip.

Palatial, elegant, eclectic and the location is right in the heart of the historical centre, with nearby bars/restaurants and a 10-15 minute walk from Lecce Train Station. Isabella, owner, looked after us. Delightful. Breakfast is exquisite and prepared for you. Highly recommended if you would like a grand palazzo experience. Nothing. All good and suited our needs.

My husband and I enjoyed perusing the personal decor in the main living areas. We had some difficulty finding our way in to the actual suite area. Our GPS got us to the address with no trouble but there was no signage to direct us up the stairs/ring the bell, etc.

• Rudolf (10/5): Brilliant , Magic , - Oh my god….to stay in a Palace owned for many generations was epic. Amazing furniture and history throughout. We felt like King and Queen during our stay. Signora Isabella was the perfect host. Nothing was too much trouble for her…..even our early start breakfast wasn’t a drama. She also arranged for us a transfer to Brindisi Airport when we left. A very touching parting gift from her was magic and totally capped off a great honeymoon stay for us. Nothing all was perfect.

The Bernardini family has owned this palazzo since the 15th century. The location is excellent. Quiet street but very close to the center of the old city. If you enjoy having cocktails there is a great bar down the block called Quando Basta. We loved stopping there on our way out to dinner or for a nightcap. Our room was spacious & very clean. Breakfast was simple but adequate. Isabella Bernardini is a gem of a hostess. Lecce is a beautiful city & great to explore. Unfortunately the garden & terrace areas are a bit overgrown.

Aussi, c'est impressionnant d'être reçue par la propriétaire des lieux ... tant d'histoire dans ce lieu. Aussi, Isabella est tellement charmante et ne demande qu'à nous aider, conseiller. Quel personnage, vraiment. Toujours et encore le parking .... nous ne nous sentions pas très à l'aise de traverser les zones interdites aux non-locaux.

She speaks five languages fluently. It is full of items and paintings that have been in her and her late husband's family for years The bathrooms needed upgrading. It is very hard to find the entrance so a bit more ground floor signage would be helpful

You can sit and enjoy the various sitting rooms which are very elegant. We had a large junior suite with a terrace and it was lovely and so comfortable. Our hostess, Signora Isabella, is very caring and attentive. The garden and terrace are beautiful with masses of trees and plants. It was so nice to sit there in the sun. The location is close to the very impressive Duomo and bars and restaurants. The breakfast has the usual sweets plus yogurt, fruits, cheese, hams. Recommended. Nothing!
• Darrell (10/5): - You won't have many opportunities to stay in a 500 year old palazzo, so here's your near unique opportunity in terms of the property and your hostess. The stay will be a standout of your trip. For parking (in the courtyard), it's best to have a small car.

She was warm, funny, and offered us much information on where to go in and around Lecce. Stepping into her palazzo is like turning back time, as it is appointed in old-world fabrics, texture, furniture, and icons. It’s hard to find fault in our wonderful stay! That being said, WiFi was spotty and new mattress needed in suite.

Found in the beautiful historic center of Lecce, the palazzo is just steps away from museums, cocktail bars, wonderful walks and a fabulous array of dining experiences, and at the end of the day, you return to the warm and welcoming rooms, full of art, legacies and love. … and each morning you are treated to a wonderful spread which Signora Isabella lays out, including freshly baked cakes, fresh fruit, and milky foam to top your steaming cup of coffee. Isabella had the table laid out in a precise order with everything you would need, (and more), for a continental breakfast. Isabella was a fantastic hostess very helpful. Car parking was little tricky and the one way street system in the old city hard to get used to ... but if you are nervous about driving in the old town's streets, you can get parking outside of the old city walls.
