• 27AB (10/5): Fabulous holiday at this hotel - Stayed at this hotel from 15th to 29th September 2025 with my sister. From beginning to end it was a fabulous time at this hotel. We was made Very welcome on arrival. The room was quite small but we managed ok, we had a room at the front of the hotel over looking the sea & mountains. The breakfast was good plenty of choice but would have been nice to offer a choice of cooked eggs. They also served food daily if you needed it. The hotel was spotless always cleaning and plenty of bed change throughout our stay. Poppy & Marina 2 Sisters also poppy on reception was all adorable. All the staff was so friendly and nothing was too much trouble at anytime for them always happy to help that's what you get with a small family run hotel. The one thing missing was they had no entertainment the whole 2 weeks so had to go to other hotels for this. The pool was so lovely always plenty of beds, great for swimming or just cooling off. If I was in this area again I would stay at this hotel. Thank you sun hotel family and staff for making our stay so enjoyable. Annette Bell.

• NormaC1968 (10/5): Incredible value for money in a great location - Myself and my daughter have just spent a fantastic week at the Sun Boutique Hotel. Everything was spot on from the lovely warm welcome to the little keepsake we were given when we left, if only all modestly hotels we like this! Our twin room was large and airy with plenty of storage and sockets to charge phones etc. A hairdryer was provided. The en suite shower room was plenty big enough and I must say the whole hotel was incredibly clean. The pool area was a great suntrap and there were always plenty of sunbeds available if you didn't fancy a few minutes walk to the beach.(Where if you head to Frank's Beach Bar you don't need to pay for sunbeds/umbrella's as long as you have a few drinks and or food during the day!) The breakfast had a lovely choice and the fresh bread was delicious. All the staff were welcoming and always happy to help with any queries, as we had a 2am return flight we were even able to extend our checkout to midnight from 11am giving us a full day at the beach, I'm sure this isn't always available especially in high season but it really was appreciated and for only a small fee. I can't recommend this hotel enough, everything was fantastic - if you are looking for a 5 star luxury full service hotel this isn't for you, if you want a clean welcoming family run hotel at a great price in a great location you can't go wrong here. Thank you at you all who made our holiday so special.
• gavandstaceyland (8/5): Great Bargain - Hotel itself is great along with the food and we were half board. The beach is a 10 minute walk away and it’s beautiful, we sat all week at Blanco’s they charge €12 for two beds and a parasol. Found the hotel pool the most quietest and soulless pool I have ever sat around, but nice for a quick dip after the beach. The owners are very helpful but wish the two young girls who work at the bar and restaurant would smile and converse with you as they seemed quite miserable. Found a lovely cocktail bar called the wild rose not far from the beach, the owner is a lovely man and the best cocktails. There are only a handful of bars but please AVOID Alex bar and cafe as the rip you off. This was a bargain last minute holiday and worth every penny but would not return. The airport is really close so great for a quick transfer
• 842edenb (10/5): Cheeky week with my bestie - Have just spent a lovely week staying at this little hotel with my bestie . We were looking for a last minute deal & The Sun Hotel came up at a very good price , the reviews were excellent ,so we booked . This 2 star hotel is excellent , it is family run , predominantly by two lovely sisters , the rooms are fresh , cool & clean , we were lucky to have a sea view at front of hotel .. The food was lovely , some of the fruit & veggies coming from the family farm , super fresh. Close to the fabulous beach , bars & tavernas & a bus stop close by to visit Heraklion , which is a lovely bustling port . A great holiday , thank you 🙏 😊
• Romeo (4/5): - Very cocky personell but all-around Greece they are sturdy and cocky. Here they are rude and throws eyes. You don't feel welcome. Hotel is livable but i wouldnt pay more than 30 euro per night .
• Guide60402870381 (10/5): Perfect - Great hotel, staff are very helpful, polite and smiling. Rooms are perfect, always cleaned very well. We booked breakfast and dinner and food was very good, in restaurant everything was organized well. Location is also good, very close to beach. Please note there are no sunbeds on the beach and it is very hot and no shade, bring sunscreen and some towels or blankets to sit/lay on.
• Alice (8/5): - Das Hotel ist sehr nah an der Hauptstraße und ist trotzdem sehr ruhig zum schlafen - man hört nichts davon. Bushaltestelle ist direkt vor der Tür und bringt dich überall hin. Das Konzept ist gut und das Essen wird mit Liebe zubereitet. Aktueller Nachteil: Die Gäste sind anfangs sehr schnell und so haben die späteren Gäste keinen Salat bzw. keine Auswahl mehr. Das Abendessen könnte etwas abwechslungsreicher und griechischer sein. Es ist aber sehr lecker! Pool ist ausreichend, da der Strand schnell zu erreichen ist. Für Paare und Freunde ist das Hotel perfekt!
• ram20212021 (10/5): Sun Boutique Hotel Review - what a fabulous week - Just come back from a fabulous week at the Sun Boutique Hotel, Crete. We stayed on a B&B basis, the breakfast was great, loads of choice of food to eat. We also eat in in the evenings and paid for the buffet 3 course meal which was fantastic, compliments to the chefs, great value for money. Drinks were also reasonably priced. The hotel itself was very clean, bedrooms lovely and aircon, pool area great and always a free deck chair to seat on. The staff and owners, Poppy and Marina (the 2 sisters) and Poppy at reception were so welcoming to us, we cannot thank them enough. A big shout out to the waitresses and the night porter - they were lovely and very helpful. This hotel is a 10/10 hotel and we will definitely be coming again. Thank for a lovely week in Crete. See you soon.

We were B&B but also ate dinner in the evening some nights and it was all locally grown and home made food which was all delicious. Pool lovely. Close to beach maybe 6 minute walk. Would definitely recommend and stay they're again. Close to Heraklion airport. Very clean hotel.

We were b and b Bed's Very comfy and breakfast had lots of choice and delicious. Would highly recommend as the team (family) are very friendly. Everywhere is spotless. • G507JPkarenc (10/5): Lovely, very friendly and clean, family run hotel - What a lovely place, they could not have been friendlier. This small hotel was perfect for my first time ever travelling abroad alone. It felt safe, Maria helped me when I tried to speak Greek, she attempted to speak various languages with the different guests. All the staff I met spoke some English. My simple room was clean and the bed was made daily, bins emptied daily too, towels and bedding were changed during my 7 night stay, not sure how many times and I put up the do not disturb sign twice so was left on those days. I had a single bed, took a bit of getting used to, it was firm, I had 2 pillows a sheet and a throw, the sheet was enough. There were complimentary soap, shampoo and shower gel, sewing kit, shoeshine and tea/coffee facilities in my room, a dressing table, stool, wardrobe and suitcase stand. The wet room was fine with a wash basin and towel rails, if you are obese then it would be small and awkward using the toilet as it’s close to the wall and the shower cubicle is not large. There was no where to put soap and shampoo on the shower cubicle which was awkward. The shower doesn’t have a door so the rest of the floor can get wet but does have a drain hole. There was a fridge in the bed room too. The aircon was lovely to have. Tv wasn’t used as I don’t understand Greek. Sliding French doors onto a tiny balcony, with 2 plastic chairs and a table, I couldn’t use as I have vertigo and it was very narrow the side I was on. My view over the tops of the surrounding buildings was the beautiful mountains and the sea, with amazing sunsets and sparkly lights at night in the distance. I sat by the doors just inside the room and enjoy the breeze and views. The pool was perfect, I swam and spent a few hours on the loungers everyday. The lift is tiny, room enough for 2 people and 2 suitcases if you aren’t obese, but claustrophobic for most people I would think. There are some lips between doors and a couple of steps directly from the reception to the restaurant but sloped access if you need it, outside and round to the front. Smoking is allowed in and around the hotel. The beach is a 20 minute flat walk away, the beds can be hired from various cafes but there’s plenty of space to just lay on the sand. The beach was reasonably clean, I did see cigarette butts and some dog poo. The sea was beautiful, a bit of a slope into it, people seemed to walk out quite far and it stayed at chest height, the slope was a bit of a challenge when coming out but manageable by most. The location is great, bus stops, shops, restaurants, cafes all within half an hour walk, all on the flat. The trees are low on the pavements so a bit awkward if you are over 5’ tall, the pavements are not wide and the kerbs very high. Kerbs and dropped kerbs are painted bright yellow and easily visible. The road outside is very busy and the noise of traffic is heard all the time, it’s not the easiest to cross but it is possible to cross, you just have to wait sometimes. The hotel breakfast had a wide variety it was the same every day. I only ate 2 dinners there and a lunch and was disappointed- the swordfish tasted muddy, the beautiful looking shrimps (huge ones) had not been deveined and both these meals came with a jacket potato which was fine and raw carrot slices with green pepper and a balsamic dressing. The mushroom soup tasted ok but didn’t come with any bread or anything. The traditional Greek donut dessert had very well cooked centres on some and runny raw centres on others. The chef was not friendly and never smiled or spoke, even when I tried to acknowledge him. They make fresh orange juice here €4 from their oranges. It had a real family vibe, I felt like they valued and appreciated all of us guests. It was a child free hotel. I would be happy to stay here again.

• janetdianeb (10/5): Sun Boutique Hotel is Perfect. - What a lovely family run hotel, I was a solo traveller with minor disability needs, and this hotel was perfect for me, and of course many other guests who were perfectly able. TUI arranged with them I have a room on the ground floor which was really great. I had A lovely large comfortable bed, a lovely modern walk in bathroom with shower. The The hotel is adults only, very peaceful and quiet, the hotel restaurant at the front of the building is where B&B guests like myself ate delicious breakfast, and I ate al la carte there most evenings, their food being absolutely delicious. Home cooked fresh food served in an impeccably clean restaurant. The hotel pool is large enough and with plenty of comfortable sun beds annd umbrellas and double cabana style sun beds. Also another very clean area around the pool. For those wanting the beach it’s not far to get to across the road and along a bit, you either turn left or right out of the hotel. I will definitely be returning to this hotel and would love to thank Marina Poppy and Eva and your sister for making my stay at your hotel such a pleasurable one.
• N9455YLvincenzod (10/5): Sun Boutique is classy (Vincenzo) - I totally recommend the Sun Boutique Hotel because is 5-10 min walking distance from - Ammoudara beach, - Bravo Water Park - and little supermarkets, pubs, car rental agencies, ATMs. Marina, her sister and the staff are nice, lovely and helpful. Their breakfast buffet is sumptuous and delicious. There is also the restaurants where the chef cooks wonderful greek dishes. The rooms are clean and beautiful, with air con, tv, fridge and hairdryer. They have a nice pool with very cool beds, long chairs and a pingo pong table.

Food, I has breakfast, was plentiful lots of choice and refreshed regularly. Location for travel was excellent with a bus stop outside. Pool was clean. Sunbeds could do with a refresh. A very pleasant stay and would recommend.

• 656martinh (2/5): Look at other options, if you stay here you’ll regret it - I wouldn’t recommend this hotel under any circumstances. We upgraded to the so called “superior room” when we booked with TUI Upon arrival the hotel looked pretty crappy, down a dirt track The lift was about 100 years old and barely fitted my wife and I plus 2 suitcases Room was tiny, and I mean tiny Bathroom even smaller Beach is NOT 5 minutes walk away, more like 20 minutes Pool area small and unwelcoming We lasted 3 hours before ordering a taxi and leaving for Stalis which is around 20 minutes away Managed to get a room at La Luna apartments, a million times better Cost an extra £415 but couldn’t stay at this hotel one minute longer
• PompeyAnnie (8/5): Ok for a short holiday. - Stayed here with a girl friend for 10 days. Mixed review as some things were good and some not quite so great . This was our second visit to Ammoudara as a resort . We had stayed up the other end of the road at a different hotel last year but this was a last minute break and we just wanted a relax and chill with no frills cheaper holiday this time round . We arrived in the early hours . The room was very small, no kettle , teeny bathroom, not good tbh. The next morning we managed to upgrade our room for around 100 Euros to a larger one, they put 2 dressing gowns, slippers and a kettle in with coffee and tea which meant it was now a superior room. Still a basic room though . This was fine for us . The air con was excellent , so were the beds, very comfortable and appeared new . Downside to the room was although it was facing the sea in the distance the hotel is on a very noisy road which constantly had traffic from the early hours to very late at night . Most annoying were the occasional loud motorbikes racing along late at night . Luckily we both had brought earplugs . I’d def recommend rooms at the back or sides of hotel. The small shower cubicle has 3 sides , no curtain so constantly flooded the floor, there was a shower mat replaced every other day but after the first few days they kept forgetting to leave one in the room , along with the towels , also a bit hit and miss as to if we got one each . Sometimes we only got one left and I had to go and ask . They weren’t great, mostly very worn and tatty, I didn’t get a belt with my dressing gown either , my friend did , but hey we were in Greece so went with it , wasn’t a game changer . I’ve seen a few reviews saying the breakfast was good . Maybe we were spoilt at the other hotel last year but this was very basic . Bread was fresh , coffee was great . There was Jam, chocolate spread etc . A few slices of dried up ham and cheese put out with olives . Some fruit and that’s about it . Enough just to tie you over . But don’t come expecting a hearty breakfast . Most of the small hotel has been upgraded , I understand by a few locals that this hotel is one of the oldest in the resort . It shows in places. The pool at the back we used once after being at the beach , It was very tired looking , not modern, beds a bit tatty but fine for a dip . The staff who ran the hotel were lovely , the ladies were very friendly and the little man just went around the hotel working hard , they were all very sweet . We had a small problem with our loo not flushing and it was fixed the same day . Overall the hotel is ok, very clean everywhere, but run on a shoestring I would say , maybe upgrade the breakfast to some authentic Greek yoghurt , fruit yogurts , better quality fruit , larger pastries, fresh croissants , (not the small hard inedible ones that were there) I’m not sure what boutique hotel means to the Greeks , but small and friendly would be a better description . The hotel is situated up the quiet more run down part of the resort which runs along a busy road, but only a 5-10 min walk will take you to the better part with beach bars , shops etc . Mostly all beach bars have sun beds free if you order a drink . Our favourite was Eden, 7 min walk along the road then down a side street. The hotel is very close to some excellent quality restaurants. Rigaterra is 3 minutes on same side . There is a dodgy bar to the LHS of the hotel as you face out , it looks derelict in the day but after midnight, we noticed it was frequented by a lot of single men, we only noticed this on the day we left when we were waiting for our coach at 2am so it didn’t bother us generally . Overall we had a good time . Resort had hardly any entertainment or bars with Greek nights, mostly young Greeks out in the evening just chilling with friends . I think most holidaymakers stayed in the larger hotels with entertainment , we usually just went out to eat and came home as nothing else to do We had a good time nonetheless .
• U9685EJanthonyc (10/5): My kind of hotel - This is an excellent hotel, situated near the beach and also a good bus service to the centre of Heraklion. The rooms are scrupulously clean, there is good wi-fi and a small pool. I opted for half board which proved very satisfactory, with a choice of main courses for dinner. The staff are very helpful and friendly. I am particularly grateful to Marina for patiently listening to my attempts to speak Greek. One aim of my visit was to visit archaeological sites and the staff helped me to book a taxi to Tylissos (no direct bus service) and advised me about transport in general. For example, a new, direct bus route to Knossos began during my stay. i was told about it and was thus able to travel there and back for 5 Euros and explore the site in my own time without having to bother with an organised trip. There are still places in the vicinity of heraklion that I would like to go to so I hope to return to the hotel one day.

The varied and excellent food from the hotel tavern is another important aspect of a successful accommodation experience. Such a quiet and comfortable experience can significantly contribute to the quality of a vacation.

The staff is very kind and helpful. The pool area is very comfortable and clean. In this hotel we had all what we needed. We will definitely go back.
• stuarth742 (10/5): Married couple break - What lovely chilled hotel. Absolutely fell in love with this hotel. Stayed on a bed and breakfast basis. Lovely choice off a typical Greek breakfast. All staff we encountered were ever so friendly and helpful. Pool lovely . All areas were spotless. Beach wonderful. Lovely tavernas in easy walking distance. Our particular favourite the lotus taverna. Planning on returning in may next year for our birthdays.
• petensade (8/5): Wonderful 2 weeks - We had a wonderful two weeks here. The hotel is very clean and everyone is very friendly and welcoming. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis and the breakfast was continental with plenty of choice available. The bar opened at 1 and prices were very reasonable. We loved it and would be happy to go back again. The only minor criticism would be the lack of storage space in our room.

The hotel is a family run hotel everyone was very friendly, it was spotlessly clean,food was good and plentiful. In the room there was a hairdryer safe and fridge. The pool area was so relaxing you could always get a sun lounger and kept very clean. Thank you so much to the sisters Poppy and Marina and to Poppy on reception for a wonderful week's holiday. This hotel is worth a 5 star rating.

Lovely breakfast and plenty to choose from. The restaurant food is quality, we ate here on a few occasions. Very quiet,but a lovely atmosphere always. Will definitely come again.

Room was clean and fresh looking and had a fridge , kettle and good air conditioning. Balcony was narrow but enough room for a table and 2 chairs. Maid service daily and towels changed every other day . We had booked half board as we were unsure of location and it suited us perfectly. Breakfast had plenty of choice and our evening meal was the same . Buffet for starters and desert and a choice of 4 main courses . This choice changed daily . . The food was great , couldn’t fault it . The pool area is kept really clean . It is quiet and plenty of sunbeds available. Staff who are all family are friendly , helpful and they keep the hotel to a very high standard. We had a fabulous chilled week . Thank you .
• dharris2015 (10/5): So good we went a second time!! - Friendly family run hotel. So relaxing & welcoming. Nothing too much trouble. We visited in June 23 & returned again September 23. Rooms clean, food good & plentiful (we went half board) Close to beach, lovely swimming pool and sunbathing area, enough sunbeds for all. We hope to return this year, we've found a little gem.
• rowley136 (8/5): Great Stay. - We stayed end of August begining of September the weather was good as was the hotel .We booked B/B so it seemed the rooms for this were on the ground floor ( 1 to 11 ), a corridor just off the Reception/Restaurant the room it self was ok smaller than we have had in greece,we did live out of our suit cases as the walldrobe was on the small size ( Safe and Fridge in it ).As we were on the groud floor the small balcony out look was not good large bushes with a building behine.The staff were great nothing was too much trouble, beds/Towels change regularly .We eat in their restaurant many times food was good and just enough for us no waste.The pool area can get full more so when people are leaving that day they tend to stay around the hotel.Our home transfer to the airport failed to turn up and after a couple of phone calls the hotel arranged a Taxi I will say we are still waiting for TUI to reimburse us with the Taxi fare.Would we stay there again most DEF.
• M1881DEtonyr (10/5): Just chill !! - If you want a basic, clean and friendly small family run hotel then look no further. The rooms are a bit on the small side but perfectly adequate as you only sleep in them anyway !! Lovely spotless pool area with plenty of beds, never busy and great for just taking it easy. I ate there on a few evenings and the food was always plentiful, quick and tasty. The only downside that there wasn't a bar to have a nightcap in but understandable as all the fantastic staff & owners work incredibly long hours as it is. Always very easy to find fault with anywhere that you stay at but you're in Greece and on holiday, just chill !
• Z6796SQjuliew (10/5): Loved our holiday at the Sun Hotel - We have just returned from 2 weeks at the Sun Boutique hotel... we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there...Marina, the 2 Poppy's and all the staff are lovely ... very friendly and helpful... genuinely want to look after you and make sure you enjoy your holiday.. The hotel is spotlessly clean, pool area is well looked after...lots of sunbeds...peaceful and private... We were half board and the food is excellent... If you are looking for a smaller family run hotel for a relaxing holiday on the beautiful island of Crete...would definitely recommend the Sun Hotel We had room 212...overlooking the pool..Great air con which was much needed...would definitely go back...x Tony & Julie
