Mucha comida China y muchas salchichas,huevos.Pero al ser un Hotel de la Categoría del Mandarín no era bueno el buffet. No había ni salmón,ni camarones ni carne magra. La carne que había era una con mucha grasa cocinada en el sector de la comida China. Una gran desilusión el desayuno buffet!!!

• haoyanc2026 (10/5): Quiet and comfortable stay with my parents - Traveling with my parents in their 60s, we had a wonderful stay. Our room faced the Huangpu River in Pudong, offering a fantastic view. The room was very quiet, and the bed was extremely comfortable—my parents slept very well and truly enjoyed their stay. The hotel is conveniently located in Lujiazui, with short rides to all major points of interest. A special thanks to Angela and Jack, who took great care of our room every day. They were friendly, attentive, and very considerate of our needs.

We always book the children’s room whenever we come — the patterns on the glass are a lovely touch. The staff were so welcoming and couldn’t have been more attentive. • German_Tesla (8/5): Lovely hotel with occasional service lapses - We stayed at the Mandarin Oriental with a group of six in order to attend a board meeting. We were delighted by the location, the rooms, the impeccable cleanliness, and the excellent breakfast. The standard of service, however, was decidedly inconsistent: at times exceptionally courteous and proactive (concierge), at others virtually absent. For instance, it proved almost impossible to obtain drinks at the bar at 9 p.m. Although two waiters were present and, besides ourselves, only three other guests, we were scarcely attended to. We repeatedly had to walk up to the bar ourselves and ask a waiter to come over. The breakfast service, too, appeared at times to overwhelm the staff: even though half of our group was already seated and had reserved a suitably sized table, the other half was initially denied entry to the breakfast room on the grounds that there were no seats left. Only after a prolonged discussion were we finally able to have breakfast. It is a pity that these issues (along with several smaller service shortcomings) detracted from an otherwise very pleasant stay.

• Guillaume (8/5): Séjour agréable au cœur de Shanghai - Le personnel de l’hôtel est particulièrement accueillant, toujours souriant et attentif au moindre besoin des clients, ce qui rend le séjour très agréable. On se sent réellement pris en charge et choyé tout au long du séjour. Les massages proposés sont également d’excellente qualité : relaxants, professionnels et parfaitement exécutés, ils ajoutent une vraie valeur à l’expérience globale. Une adresse que je recommande sans hésitation pour un moment de détente et de confort. À la piscine, on m’a imposé le port du bonnet de bain pour des raisons d’hygiène, ce qui m’a été expliqué avec sérieux. Pourtant, j’ai été franchement surpris de constater que, dans ce même bassin, certains comportements beaucoup moins compatibles avec ces exigences étaient tolérés, comme le fait de cracher dans l’eau. Difficile, dans ces conditions, de comprendre la logique des priorités en matière d’hygiène. Par ailleurs, l’établissement commence clairement à accuser le poids des années. Les chambres ne sont plus au niveau des standards actuels des hôtels de luxe : moquettes tachées, signes d’usure visibles et salles de bains qui manquent de fraîcheur. C’est d’autant plus regrettable que l’ensemble pourrait offrir une bien meilleure expérience avec une rénovation et une remise à niveau plus cohérente.

Pros: - Staff are friendly and helpful specifically Nicole at front desk and Lucas at concierge - Good location - Free shuttle service within 2km - Spacious rooms - Nice view - Good price Cons: - Breakfast buffet was very lacking in terms of quality and taste. - Hotel and rooms are weathered. Water stains on the carpet along the corridors, linen was limp, torn corners of bed frames etc, it desperately needs a refurbishment. Would stay again if the two cons are improved upon.

Jerry and another manager from concierge as well for the food delivery. Even the intern from Hangzhou was really helpful. I have stayed at countless 5 star establishments that I have gotten a little desensitised lol. Ritz’s in Singapore, Tokyo, and Shanghai. Okuras in Kyoto, Bangkok. Palace Hotel Tokyo. Park Hyatts across Southeast Asia. La Réserve in Europe. Even MO Lucerne. Yet I still find myself feeling impressed every single time I come back to MO Pudong. Whatever the GM is doing, he definitely knows what is up. Sometimes, even without business, I fly to Shanghai for a few days over the weekend just to stay in MO Pudong at my favorite Mandarin River View room. Thanks guys!

• hmunye (2/5): Poor communication - Check-in was unfortunately quite confusing and not the smooth experience I expected. I arrived around 1:45pm and was initially told my room would not be ready until 3pm, which I understood. However, shortly after, I was offered a paid upgrade for immediate access, which I declined and then a complimentary upgrade to a higher floor that would still require waiting. Communication between staff seemed inconsistent, as I was later told again that no rooms were available, only to suddenly be given a room key a few minutes later. I also requested a private space to pray, as I needed to do so at a specific time. This request was not clearly understood and I was directed to the spa and then the gym. While I appreciate that this may not be a common request, it would have been more helpful if staff had clearly communicated that no small, private space was available, rather than sending me between locations. When I used a translation app to clarify my request, there appeared to be some confusion and staff reacted in a way that felt dismissive, including some laughter, which made the situation uncomfortable. While I understand there may have been a language barrier, a more respectful and solution-focused response would have been appreciated. There appeared to be a language barrier, which is understandable, but I feel the situation could have been handled more efficiently if this had been acknowledged earlier, for example by using a translation app to clarify the request. In addition, the room itself felt somewhat dated, with visible wear such as cracks in the wall tiles, which is not what I would expect from a Mandarin Oriental property. Overall, the issue seemed to stem from communication and coordination rather than intent, but it did impact the arrival experience at what is otherwise a well-regarded hotel.

The views across the Huangpu River are, quite simply, a key differentiator. By day, it offers a sense of openness that is increasingly rare in Shanghai; by night, the skyline comes alive with depth and energy. During my stay, this was complemented by a beautiful stretch of cherry blossoms just outside the hotel, adding a seasonal softness that elevated the overall arrival and departure experience. Another thoughtful advantage is the nearby pier, which allows for easy access across to the North Bund. It’s a small detail, but one that enhances how effortlessly you can experience both sides of the city. Service is where the hotel consistently delivers. The team operates with a clear sense of confidence and structure - present, attentive, yet never overbearing. There is a natural flow to the service, which suggests strong alignment behind the scenes. What stood out most for me was the warmth of the staff. Friendly, approachable, and genuine - interactions felt easy and unforced, which is often what defines a truly memorable stay. The breakfast venue Zest is a must try! Overall, a property that understands its positioning and executes it well. Strong fundamentals, elevated by thoughtful touches - delivering an experience that feels both refined and comfortably human.

I booked a river view room, and the floor-to-ceiling windows offered an unforgettable panorama of the Huangpu River and the Lujiazui skyline: The service – special thanks to Laurel: From the moment I arrived, Laurel at the front desk was incredibly warm and welcoming. She was efficient, professional, and took the time to explain the hotel facilities and nearby attractions. Her friendly attitude set the tone for a perfect stay.
• Brbrbfbrbr (10/5): One of my favorite hotels. - Hotel have a nice location near the river. Staff have a great level of English. Hotel rooms are large and very clean. But restaurants for the dinner closing at 9 pm, and if you are having diner late only option is room service

Отель расположен в шаговой доступности до многих популярных мест, но в то же время это место тишины и комфорта. Вечернее обслуживание номеров проходило в районе 22:00. В один из вечеров нам настойчиво звонили в дверь, когда мы уже спали, чтобы спросить: «все ли в порядке, не нужно ли что-то, например, воды». В последующие вечера эта проблема была решена с помощью клавиши do not disturb.

• ruijunw2020 (10/5): Best hotel I’ve stayed in Shanghai ever - The experience here is perfect, what I love most is the light up when I enter the room, and the room service is great, our room server Tina did a great job to keep everything in sort, and she’s very friendly and kind to us when we meet her cleaning our room. The manager Mimosa is also very helpful, always respond very quickly to any request we have.

• mikeyytokyo (10/5): Faultless, apart from…… - I chose to stay at MO instead of another hotel because of the great experiences I have had at other locations with MO. The welcome and check in were great and the room was beautiful, spacious and well appointed. I ordered a club sandwich through the in-room dining in the evening which was delicious and generously portioned. There was a welcome gift of pineapple cake left in the room which I was saving to have after I went out for a walk along the riverside the next morning. Unfortunately, housekeeping visited before I returned and took the gift away - I was so disappointed that I couldn’t enjoy it with a coffee in my room. That day, I decided to try the Riviera Lounge for coffee and cake. However despite taking a menu from the staff, nobody ever returned to take my order and after trying to catch someone’s attention I left after 30 minutes of being ignored and went to the nearby mall for coffee and cake instead. I was going to try the restaurant for dinner but the lounge experience was irritating and so I decided against trying the restaurant in the end. I do recommend booking a Mandarin Room which is very spacious and has a beautiful round bathtub. The room I stayed in had a great view of the riverside skyscrapers and Oriental Pearl Tower which were all lit up at night. Overall a very nice stay despite the Riviera Lounge experience (or lack of). It’s a difficult balance of not being intrusive but also being attentive. Why didn’t I get up and chase around the lounge to find someone to place an order? Well it shouldn’t really be necessary. One final note, a wonderful birthday cake was delivered to my room which made my stay even better. So, if it wasn’t for the lounge, I would say the hotel is faultless.
