Guest Reviews
- Nigel (8/5): Recommend this hotel for those with a DEL layover - Great stay at this hotel. Good price, value for money and really detailed rooms. Would have no hesitation in returning here.
- Michelle (8/5): About a 15 minute drive from the airport - We needed a place to sleep for a few hours before our long flight back to the USA. Since we were not even spending the entire night, (our flight home was at 3:00am), this hotel seemed like a good option. It is very inexpensive and had decent reviews.
Luckily we chose to pay an additional fee for their airport pick up. We never would have found this place otherwise! This is not a typical hotel. It is more like a guest house. And there was no sign posted outside that we could see. In fact, the lobby simply consists of a small desk at the entrance.
But, our room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The shower was good as well. Since we were not going to be there for breakfast in the morning, I asked for some bottles of water instead. They were happy to oblige.
If you are looking for a very basic place to spend the night, we do recommend it!
- Paul (8/5): Great Value for the price - Colonel's Retreat at the Airport is in a residential area so, on the upside, you will be away from all the honking horns in the bustling traffic of Delhi, but you will also be far from restaurants. If night-life is what you want, this is not the place for you but if you are wanting to see the local culture and have a quiet nights sleep for a great price, stay here. The hotel staff was very accommodating. Our flight arrived 2 hours later than the 1:15AM time we asked the hotel to arrange for transport, and he was still there waiting. The sleepy staff checked us in and was helpful in allowing us to eat breakfast early to catch a tour. They were flexible with us on all accounts. The breakfast was basic but good. It was a hot meal (not continental) and the staff was kind. The room was large and included bottled water and a teapot for making coffee or tea. The room was nothing to shout about but it was clean and the sheets smelled fresh. The bed was hard. The strange thing was that even though we were there for 3 days, there was no maid service nor towel change. I am sure if we asked, however, they would have done it. So perhaps that is just Indian culture. The area is pretty residential and although there is a "mall" within walking distance, it is just a bunch of outdoor stall-like stores and street food eating places. Take an Uber to another part of town to eat!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Close to international airport. They arranged airport pick up and arranged quick lunch. Very impressive.
- PG (8/5): - Clean, spacious rooms. Close to airport.
Affordable. Good to use for short term transfer days to/from airport.
- Pam (10/5): - Lovely big clean room, with large en suite. Lovely simple breakfast. Staff very friendly and offer good knowledge where to visit locally.
- Alan (10/5): - One of the best places I've stayed in my trip. The staff were helpful. The breakfast was great and the location was close to all the things I needed (metro, airport).
- Carl (6/5): - The english dificult and the staff the rooms are not to clean and dont have aircondition just fan
- michael (6/5): - Definately not close to the airport, the meal we ordered came from outside the hotel and my friend got food poisoning, not what I expected.
- Mike (8/5): - We spent a night here only because we were in transit and needed a place close to the airport. Arrived very late at night and so it worked out very well. In the morning the desk person helped us get Rupees. All in all it suited our needs perfectly. Also the breakfast was good, and the shower was also good, and fairly near the airport and they also arranged for taxi.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Manager extremely helpful, very clean, great in-house meals . One stop on the metro from airport and a 300rp taxi.
- Edmundo (6/5): - the hotel is so far from city center, nice hotel but i took over one hour and half to go to downtown...
subway is over 30 minutes by walk..
- Verified traveler (10/5): Clean quiet good food - All good but taxis find it extremely difficult to find. This is not my first time here and drivers struggle to find the place in the middle of nice urban development. I would suggest owners give precise instructions so guest can show taxi drivers
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good breakfast, cold ac, great water pressure. My airport shuttle to and from the airport was reasonably priced, friendly, and waiting for me when I arrived. I arived late at night and the hotel was very accommodating.
- Lauren (8/5): Great B&B Feel in Delhi - A friend and I stayed at this hotel for one night between our flight from Hyderabad to Delhi and then Delhi back to the United States. Although we were there for less than 8 hours (our flight to the US was super early in the morning), I would definitely stay here again and wish we had stayed here when we were in Delhi for a few days at the beginning of our trip. I really appreciated that the hotel reached out to me immediately to see if we needed a shuttle to and from the airport, even though I booked the hotel months before our trip; they could not have been more helpful re: the shuttle arrangements. Our room was adorable and very comfortable, and the staff were helpful re: making sure we were situated in our room when we got there. After having had a less than desirable shower experience at another hotel in Delhi, I really appreciated how nice the shower was in our room at the Colonel's Retreat (and there was plenty of hot water). They provided plenty of complimentary bottles of water and the
WiFi was good enough to handle downloading multiple videos onto my tablet to prep for our long airplane rides back to the US. Overall, the room was very affordable and worth well more than the price we paid. would recommend Colonel's Retreat to others and will definitely stay here if I return to Delhi in the future.
- Roz (8/5): Not what we were expecting - Having read the other reviews on this hotel and confidently booked for our arrival in Delhi, I think it fair to point out that our impression seemed to differ from others somewhat. It is a long drive from the airport, not easy to find, and our driver finally discovered it was inside a private enclave (more of a building site) with a metal gate preventing access, we had to wake up the guard to get the gate opened. From there it is a short drive to the hotel, which has a metal gate locked across it. Once on the other side of the gate, the reception area is a desk at a back wall with no side walls.
I could not fault the staff, they were really helpful, but it was not the hotel we believed we were coming to. You would have had to order a taxi and leave the enclave if you wanted to find somewhere to eat. The room itself was fine, although the first room had no air con control, and the second one (we stayed before and after going to the Taj) no TV control! The window blind could not be raised in either room. The rooms themselves were clean enough, but while waiting for a cab in reception, there was a mouse roaming around behind the desk. Probably not much they could do about this, as there were no walls!
Breakfast was basic, no fresh fruit apart from a banana each, orange squash instead of juice, and an offer to cook eggs.
If you are a backpacker, this hotel would probably be fine for you, but it is not the three star hotel we thought we were booking.
- Paul (8/5): - It was about as I expected. Thought it would be closer to the airport. Overall, I was pleased with. A good deal for the price.
- Simon (8/5): - Stayed for only one night, 25 mins from the airport, nice room, clean conditions, and helpful staff. Would go there again.
- Keith (8/5): - Clean, comfortable option within easy reach of Delhi Airport but not impacted by noise from airport. Good value for money for an overnight stay near airport before morning flight back to Europe. Whilst shown as 3km from airport, it was actually a 17km taxi ride due to roads layout and Uber drivers for both trips from and to the airport were unable to find the property, however Uber taxi trips were cheap and relatively traffic free.
- Anirban (10/5): Nice bnb near to airport. - Great value for money. Staff was excellent, breakfast was very good. Location was excellent, near to airport in a very nice residential neighbourhood
- Sunitha (8/5): Clean and Neat place to stay - Used it for stop gap stay between travels. Room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast options could have been better (Aloo partha with coffee or Eggs with coffee was the only option given) but for stop gap it was fine.
- pb (8/5): Friendly and clean. Good value. - Nice, clean, hotel, near (20-30 minutes) the airport. Friendly. Home-cooked breakfast. It worked perfectly for us, as a place to get some rest after a long flight (from the US) and before a short one (domestic). Good wi-fi.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The room was dusty and smell bad like too many time with use, or a mouse.Sorry I could not differentiate the smell. Manager was friendly and helpful he makes a big effort. But the cleaning conditions need to be perfect
- Maaheer (10/5): All good - All good and no complaints:) friendly staff.
- MV (10/5): Near Delhi airport great value for money - After a month motorbiking in Ladakh (Indian Himalayas) I needed to spend a night in a Delhi hotel prior to my international flight. Was not interested in anything but rest. This hotel is well appointed, clean and with tasteful modern decor. Breakfast is great and dinner as well. Dwarka is an affluent new neighbourhood of high rises and good international schools. Not much to see but it suited me. Twenty mins fr airport at peak hour. Don't be put off by the Lobby. ( i almost walked away when I saw it). They need to improve this. But rooms are excellent! Soacious, light and comfortable. A real find. I'll come back...
- Miriam (10/5): Excellent - Amazing guys at the front desk and at the restaurant, very clean and nice rooms
- Verified traveler (10/5): Close to airport - Very welcome and great service. Will definitely stay here again
- GEROME (8/5): - Good guesthouse Bear métro station block 21 ans airport.
- Baiju (8/5): Excellent Place to stay at Dwarka....... - It was a great experience to stay in this hotel..... Neat and clean, good ambience, peaceful. Those who have work in and around dwarka, it is very good to stay here.
- Andy (10/5): A Little Out of the Way, But Worth It - It's just a really nice place. The room and bathroom were amazing, clean and well-appointed and unlike anything we'd encountered in our -- admittedly budget conscious -- 3-1/2 month time in India; kind of like a "boutique"-style hotel in the U.S.
The food they serve there is very nice and there is also a really nice restaurant -- called Fire & Ice if I recall correctly -- in the nearby mall, as well as numerous other shops and food stalls.
Neighborhood is perfectly fine if unexciting: lots of broad boulevards and new high-rise buildings.
Staff was extremely courteous and helpful. Arranging a ride to the airport at 3:00 in the morning or so was no problem at all.
To get to the hotel we took the Delhi metro airport express line and then an auto-rickshaw to the nearby shopping mall (because we figured it would be easy for the driver to find, which it was) and then just walked around the block to the hotel. Having looked up maps of the area online before heading there, made all of this no problem at all (in contrast to others who seem to have had difficulties).
Just a great place to stay before or after a flight from or to the Delhi airport.
- Ruzanna (10/5): Clean hotel with honest treatmebt of customers - It was my first trip to India. Despite all the things that I was warn about, the hotel surprised me with its earnest attitude towards the customers, and readiness to assist even with things that sre outside of their customer service area.
- Shekhar (8/5): A nice hotel close to the International Airport - Colonel's Retreat is located very close to the international airport, in a quiet residential area - Aditya Enclave of Dwarka. A Four Storey Building, having 12 rooms on offer. It's not a traditional hotel that we tend to see around, but it offers much more space and privacy. The rooms are large with a nice attached toilet & bath. It also has a large common seating area on each floor. Simple breakfast but very tasty and well cooked. Lunch and dinner can be provided, cooked by the hotel staff, if its ordered in advance. The staff is very positive and helpful and do their best to make your stay comfortable. A large shopping complex is just 100 m away is a great positive too. Overall a very comfortable and nice stay at the hotel. I would strongly recommend to all variety of travellers.

- Julie (10/5): Nice hotel close to the airport - I chose this hotel because it was close to the airport, had good reviews and was a reasonable price. It is in a very safe area, staff are very friendly and helpful and the room was pleasant and clean.
- Rohit (6/5): Ok hotel. If you take taxi it is about 40 min one - Ok for one night
- Brian (8/5): Comfortable accomodations near the airport. - Bed was good, appears to be newly renovted. Neighborhood was a bit out of the way with not much nearby. Took 20 minutes with Uber to get to airport.
- Thakur Ankit (8/5): Overall good stay !! - Overall the stay was good. Victor as a Manager was helpful !!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Basic hotel dormitory style - Basic rooms off a common area dormitory style. Hard to find so have hotel send a taxi. Fine for one night for airport transfer.
- Harjinder (6/5): - Only stayed for 3 hours had to fly out of delhi was ok for price
- Verified traveler (6/5): A bit of a distance from hotel. - Transportation that I had requested was not arranged. Had to wait an hour and then arrange my own transportation. But the owner was very nice and helpful once I got to the hotel.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great ending to time in India - After a night at Tourist Hotel across from the train station, Colonel's Retreat was much nicer. It's out of the city but staff helped me get to the metro (10 minutes away by Rickshaw) which connects to airport and city. 5 minute walk from hotel was small shopping area with stores and a few restaurants. Room was very good. Staff very helpful. Inside housing complex with guard so it felt very safe. Would recommend for all as overnight stay near airport or for a few days of seeing Delhi. Rooms were full the night we stayed and I can understand why.
- Andrew (10/5): Love Colonels Retreat - Very helpfull staff and a really comfortable hotel.
- Sam (8/5): Clean and nice rooms but not an airport hotel - The rooms were really nice and clean and the staff were very helpful, however the title is misleading. It is not an airport hotel. It took us 30 mins in a rickshaw which cost almost the same as the room. Apparently there's a shuttle bus or train which only takes a few minutes, but you don't find out about this until you get to the hotel. Also there's no signage so your driver probably won't be able to find it. It took our driver 40 mins of driving around Dwarka before finding it. it says it's about 3km from the airport on Expedia, which is why we booked it. In reality, it will take 30 mins to drive there and then you probably won't be able to find it.
- Dr. Dipendu Bhu (6/5): Behaviour of the manager was dissapointing - I booked this hotel through expedia.com . I was travelling with my wife. When we reached at this hotel manager refused to give us a room and he forcefully transferred us to another hotel nearby colonel's retreat hotel. We denied to stay at that hotel and i told the manager that i'll take action against him. After a long conversation he provide us a room in colonel's retreat. Our check in experience was really bad.
- AMIT RAJENDRA (10/5): nice place - Great place for a quiet stay away from the crowd in Delhi.
- AMIT RAJENDRA (8/5): Nice place - Great place. A little out of the way but very quiet and very well laid out.
- Verified traveler (8/5): EXELENT rooms &service, but 20 km to AirPort - Good !!! But is not to 4 km to the AirPort , its much more. The room is exelent ! An the stay people so Good.
- Emily (8/5): Good little night's stay- hard to find - Great stay for a night's sleep before our flight. They provided a taxi to transport us to the airport the next morning- about 20 minutes or so away. The hotel was pretty difficult for our driver to find at night though- we spent over a good hour driving around asking for directions trying to find it and no one seemed to know where it was. It is in a gated community though- so very safe!
- Hedwig (8/5): Silent nice place - Quite, very nice to be in contact with other (indian) guests at the big breakfast table!
Advise Taxi: Inform the hotel to send you a taxi to the aeroport and dont't take a prepaped taxi at the aeroport. My taxidriver was very kind, but he need too much time to find the way to the hotel. So I didn't feel save at all.
- Howard (10/5): best deal near Delhi airport - I stayed here on all 5 of my trips to Delhi. I love the people and they are very kind and considerate. If I ask for a bottle of water they bring two. If I ever moved to Delhi I would live here. Try the Masala omelet it is included in the very reasonable rate.
- CSingh (10/5): Best budget hotel in the vicinity of Delhi Airport - I was in the hotel for 4 days, the room was true to the pictures listed online. The room was very comfortable in every way, the back balcony of room overlooked a green garden and quiet sorroundings, sipping coffee in the balcony during mornings was a great way to start mornings.
I was impressed by all the staff within the hotel and "home cooked" food which they serve in hotel is true to its name. Staff was really courteous and and always had smile while serving to requests promptly. The house keeping staff was also very good and upto the mark.
