It was quiet and peaceful compared to the tourist packed Fira which was 15-20min walk away. The owners treated us like family and welcomed us. The property provided free breakfast and free mini bar. I enjoyed the sunset from the balcony with a beer. Highly recommended place!

• Adam (10/5): - Smaro studios is a beautiful property with private suites facing the caldera. It's worth noting that it is a 10-15 minute walk downhill to Fira, although the bus stop is close and viable, and that each evening you'll fight the uphill on a full stomach. The manager/owner is helpful and the suites are kept cleaned daily. Ultimately a very nice getaway and would rebook again.
• Noah (10/5): - The property was in a perfect location. We found that our sunset view of the caldera was best from our hotel balcony and private hot tub. The only things we would request be improved are the temperature on the hot tub as it was more of a “cool tub” and the simple addition of a “Do Not Disturb” sign for the housekeeper. The owner and son were wonderful and very delightful to work with. Unfortunately, the housekeeper would come without fail every time we would take a shower which placed unnecessary pressure on us. All can be solved with the addition of a DND sign. Overall phenomenal stay with minor improvements. We loved Smaro Studios.

The team there is also great. They went above and beyond in helping to make all requests and accomodations. Whatever we needed we asked and they made it happen. They are very nice and allowed us to stay on the property and even use a Jacuzzi after we checked out and waited until our flight in the evening. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone searching for a great place to stay with good views and a very friendly staff!

The coffee was absolutely delicious along with the instant packs. A full breakfast served daily on your terrace. Every morning, we had our incredible breakfast while sitting on our deck looking out. Wow. That view will stay with me forever. Loved the location, Fira was great and the sunset from my deck was just as great as the one in Oia. If you are on the fence, this place is 100% worth it. Just a note, if you need to communicate prior to your reservation, send an email if you dont speak Greek! I called multiple times and the nice lady simply couldn't understand me, nor I her. Email was the best way to get answers.

Maria and son Mike (owners) were awesome as were the cleaning lady and the man who brought breakfast to our balcony each morning (didn’t get their names) and the view is fantastic. Room nicely clean each day. Loved having a private balcony even though we had a courtyard room. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. Views are fantastic. We spent a couple of nights just sitting on the balcony to watch sunset because it’s as good as anywhere. Don’t get why people think Oia is so great and it’s a gong show at sunset, good luck escaping after lol. The area is quiet in the evening compared to Fira but Fira only 10-15 minutes walk, uphill on way back. There’s a gyro place a minute away that serves a variety of to go meals and some nights we just got a 6 euro gyro and ate it on the balcony with drinks watching sunset. It was actually better than the 75 euro dinner with a view we had in Fira. The view wasn’t better there, just different. You don’t need to go broke on Santorini if you don’t want to. Maria helped us with finding a caldera cruise and we did the King Thira ship that goes to the volcanos in middle and lunch/swim on Thirassia. It’s all you need and cheap. Walk to Oia is cool too and bus back cheap. Also rented an ATV at Tonys (Maria suggestion). It’s nearby and cheap, awesome fun way to see the island. At end, walked to bus stop and got to airport for 1.6 euro each. Highly recommend Smaro.

• Zoe (10/5): - Really enjoyed our stay here. The room and view is just as pictured. The breakfast was delicious even as vegans. They really looked after us meeting us to help with luggage and having lovely robes and slippers in the room, it felt like a 4 star service. Room is fairly compact but really lovely, bed extremely comfortable and view amazing, hairdryer powerful and bathroom toiletries good quality. The only small thing I would have liked is hair conditioner. If staying for a while you’d probably want to book a room with some outdoor lounging area rather than just table and chairs but for a short stay this was ideal for us and great value for the location with volcano views. Firastefani is fairly quiet which we really liked too
• Danielle (10/5): - Must stay hotel in Santorini, absolute hidden gem! The hosts were extremely warm, welcoming and professional with rooms that are modern, fresh and super clean. We had been island hopping around the cyclades islands as part of our trip, and this has been our best hotel BY FAR. The view is a priceless element of your stay! Every morning we had breakfast brought to our room which was a beautiful mix of continental options. Then in the evenings to avoid the crowds we should stop by the shops to grab a bottle of local wine and enjoy the sunset in peace, away from the crowds and expensive sunset bars. We even went to Oia to see the Blue Dome Chruches at sunset one evening and wished we were just sitting on our perfect sunset balcony instead. The location of the hotel is also a stones throw away from the center of Fira (5/10min walk) this meant exploring the local town, restaurants, and museums was super convenient and easy. Could not recommend staying at Smaro Studios anymore!
• ANNA (10/5): - Great stay at Smaro Studios in the luxury suite! Looks better in real life than in pictures, immaculately clean, beautiful view and fairly private as well. Breakfast brought to the patio every morning was wonderful and different each day - omelettes, pancakes, fresh fruits, coffee etc. They are able to store luggage as well. Located in Firostefani away from all the hustle and bustle of Fira, but within 10-15 min walking distance from the numerous restaurants and the bus station in Fira. Highly recommended property and great value for the price.
• Ketan (10/5): - I saw the prior reviews and went with very high expectations and I must say they were still exceeded beyond any in recent memory As others have indicated you could go to Oia or to a nearby ‘restaurant with a view’ ( we tried both of these) for the sunsets or you could just sit on the balcony outside your room for a comparable if not better view It was an amazing experience at Smaro and if you are considering a trip to Santorini would highly recommend Smaro for your stay The Firostefani location the specific vantage point of the studio and the personal care from Mike and Maria all work in its favor

Short walk to Fira bus station, shops, and restaurants. Only complaints are the hot tub wasn’t very hot and we had some difficulty finding the hotel reception.

• Ladarius (10/5): - From the amazing location to the breathtaking views and super luxurious suit our experience with the owners was nothing sort of amazing! I will be returning and staying here again. When I say there is so much to do in the area from shopping to eateries and clubs are all walking distance. We stayed in the exclusive suite which had a shower downstairs and one upstairs with an open concept.The bed was super comfortable and the water got super hot in the shower . Unfortunately, for the jacuzzi that wasn’t the case it was warm no where near hot. But everything else about this property was top tier. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

He shared the history of his beloved grandmother Smaro and the significance of honoring his family heritage which is now also his business brand in the hospitality industry. The studio is perfectly nestled alongside the magnificent Caldera cliffs. The room is impeccably clean and well maintained! Breakfast a daily feast is served on your own private patio overlooking the Aegean Sea and some of the most exhilarating views endlessly stretched out for miles. Above one’s head literally is the famous To Briki restaurant. An April stay in Santorini guarantees a reservation or a walk in. The food here is delectable! Both your palate and your stomach will simultaneously dance as they engage in the tantalizingly fresh well flavored selections. Octopus and Mousakka are a must have! The staff is attentive and after dining there multiple times they become your extended family! Also within walking distance is Mama Thira, another amazing restaurant with fresh fish selections! Your server will even debone your fish upon serving! You can also walk to Fira easily from Smaro Studios. You will be mesmerized for miles as you inhale the breathtakingly awe inspiring views. The shopping in Fira is exceptional! Run, don’t walk book Santorini now! This has been one of the most amazing vacations ever; definitely ten out of ten! Do go to Santorini and stay at Smaro Studios your heart will thank you for it💕

• Diem (10/5): - Our flight arrived early in the morning and the room was not ready. The owner was very nice and offered us breakfast on the terrace outside our room. It was a big breakfast too not just a pastry and juice. Once we were able to check in, she showed us everything in the room. While the room was small, it was comfortable and clean. The view of the water is gorgeous. I was able to watch the sunset.

• Yekaterina (10/5): - This was probably one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. First of all the location is perfect. It is very close to Fira and all the shops but Firostefani is quieter and the hotel is tucked away in a street that most tourists don’t visit. The view of the caldera is stunning. On top of that the hotel staff were very sweet and accommodating. We arrived on an early flight and they gave us breakfast while we waited for check in. Breakfast was delivered throughout the stay on a large tray to the patio. It was delicious and I think they took it as a personal challenge to give us more food than we could eat. We were also given complimentary Vinsanto wine that I’m still thinking about. The suite itself was amazing. We had a two story room with a private hot tub. One of the coolest experiences was sitting in the hot tub and sipping Vinsanto with that view. Honestly, no complaints. This was our honeymoon stay and it was absolutely perfect.

• Brennan (10/5): - Smaro Studios is probably the nicest hotel I've ever stayed in - clean, comfortable, friendly staff, and incredible views! The property was a bit hard to find because the signs on the Caldera are for 'Santorini Sea View' - but once I found it staff were there and happy to show me to my room. Great experience!

Mike was very helpful with everything and had breakfast plus my favorite espressos delivered to me each morning. If this is available during your stay don't hesitate book this!!!
• Kathryn (10/5): - Views from our room were absolutely stunning! Staff were very friendly and the complimentary breakfast served to your room was great. Parking was a ways offsite. Be prepared to walk/carry your luggage through the narrow streets.

Maria and her crew are very kind and do their best to make sure you have a pleasant stay. They welcomed us with a mini fridge with water and pops. Their breakfast was good too. I'd go back to this place over and over.

Cannot praise enough the location and staff.

I can’t say enough nice things about the staff as well. They were so nice and helped with restaurant recommendations and with arranging rides from the ferry and to the airport. I also love that the hotel is a little away from the crowds of Fira. It was quiet, but still an easy walk to get into town or to the next village over. Highly recommended!
• Angelina (10/5): - Property is clean and staff are very accommodating. Love the setup of personal breakfast set up outside with the view of the caldera and the sea. They offer transfer for 10 euro per person which is a good service. They were helpful with picking up and dropping of luggage to taxi and accommodation.
• Janet (10/5): Smaro Suites was perfect - Everything about Smaro Suites was perfect - the location, the view, the balcony, the amazing breakfast, the kind staff, the proximity to the car rental place, the free parking nearby, the central location on the picturesque walkway, the proximity to shopping, restaurants and bars, everything. We drove into Oia, to check out the sites, shop and dine to the sunset and frankly, it just didn’t compare to what we had at Smaro Suites. Oia was much, much more crowded and less intimate. One time visiting Oia was sufficient. We look forward to staying at Smaro Suites again!

• Mikaiah (10/5): Breathtaking Views! - My husband and I stayed in Smaro Studios executive suite. Upon arriving, we pulled in from the back of the hotel, with views of the land and sea from a distance. Nice... but not the views you go to Santorini for, so I was concerned. Two gentleman that work for the hotel came to grab our luggage, and lead us up the stairs towards our room. When I turned the corner, I was blown away by the caldera view and the sea of white homes on the cliff. Then we entered our room. We were welcomed with tasty wine sitting on a desk area. There was a jacuzzi in the front, which we enjoyed every night. A bathroom on the first level, with a TV. The second floor was huge, with a nice open shower. The bed was comfy, all I’m all It was a nice room. But the view from the room is really what you pay for. I haven’t traveled much, but I can’t imagine there being too many more views in the world, better than this one. I was so sad that I missed the sunset the first day, and it was too hazy to see it the day before we left. A tasty breakfast was served to us every morning, the staff was helpful, and two of my favorite restaurants on the island are in walking distance. I would stay again!

Nice and quiet in the evenings and only a 10-15 min stroll into busy Thira town. Breakfast on the balcony each morning was very nice. Assistance with carrying bags up and down the steps to/from the car was greatly appreciated.

The place was clean, had good wifi and came with a stocked fridge of beverages for the first day. There was a complimentary breakfast the first day that came with coffee, grapes, eggs, bread and even more! The hotel arranged for a taxi pick up service for 10 euros a person from the port to the hotel. Overall it was very accomodating and great for a Santorini stay! 10/10 from 3 travelling students.
• Tony (10/5): Excellent views, reasonable price - Excellent location, the service was good, they arranged a shuttle for us from the airport and had someone carry our bags down/up from the road. Showerhead had no wall attachment which was quite annoying, breakfast delivered outside your room was good. Really good views from the room we had, sunsets everynight!

The male receptionist was very friendly and after learning we were overcharged for our transfer from the port he arranged for us to get a free transfer to the airport. (sorry I didn’t get the mans name). However there was a communication issue with the older woman who was sometimes on reception as she doesn’t seem to understand much English at all. But after a while repeating myself and using google translate it was fine. Our room was very nice and spacious. It is a bit of a walk to the main town, it is fine on the way there but on the way back it is all up hill so something to bare in mind if you do not like walking. But didn’t bother us much. Overall I would stay here again:)

• Coby F. (10/5): Honeymoon stay - The property is lovely! The caldera views from our suite were unbeatable. That said there are two suites that would not have the same quality views. The rooms are very tidy and are equipped with all you need. The neighbourhood is lively with restaurants and shops but the property is quiet. Breakfast was substantial and changed a little every day. Reception was helpful in organizing transportation when we needed it (even with a language barrier). I would absolutely recommend staying here, assuming I would get the same views again!

Private balcony with caldera views. 15 minute walk to Fira bus station to connect Akrotiri Red beach as well as perissa & Kamari beach. Many shops & restaurants nearby. Will definitely go back & stay at this hotel!!
• francesca (10/5): Absolutely amazing - This property is absolutely amazing the photos do not do it justice. From the moment I arrived at this hotel I was filled with joy, the manager showed us to are room with private balcony and had a bottle of wine with fruit and told us that everything in the mini bar was complimentary. The view of the caldera is one of a kinda, every evening we did not go anywhere but are balcony to enjoy the sunset. Breakfast was provided every morning on are balcony and wow absolutely amazing we could hardly finish. This property is a 12/10 and such great value for money I did not want to leave.
• Nicole (10/5): Amazing stay in Smaro Studios - Smaro Studios was a perfect choice for our time in Santorini! It was a small, boutique hotel that served us breakfast on our balcony every morning. The view from our balcony was spectacular...especially the sunset! The location is perfect: I actually prefered being in Firostefani, a few minutes walk outside of Fira. There was enough in the area for our needs (including an amazing sushi restaurany) but not so much that it was over run with people. Our room was comfortable, clean, and quiet. I believe we were in the Katerina suite. The only thing I didn't love about the room was that there was no place to put the shower head other than at waist level. A minor inconvenience and one that was easy to get used to. Overall, we had an amazing experience here. A huge thank you to Maria and the rest of the staff!

Big free parking lot 5 min walk away. Only downside: the shower was tiny and there was no overhead hook for the shower head, so you had to hold it over your head with your hand.

Thanks Maria, Mike and Mariana. The hotel also provide free wifi and they can arrange airport transfer, 10 euro per person one way.

• Verified traveler (10/5): Seaview room is a must - Take the bus from Fira bus terminus & get off at the first stop to reach the hotel. It looks more beautiful than on the photos. The room is decent，even equipped with a dove & tiny pantry. It is worth to upgrade to a seaview room. Afterall you can't miss the romantic sunset view at Santorini (& that what makes you fly all the way there）. Enjoying the declious breakfast at the terrace is another unforgettable experience. Love their free dessert wine too！
