Kathy (housekeeper) warmed up to us easily enough and both the housekeeper and manager were helpful with suggestions for tourists. Accommodation was spacious. Good for people who are lovers of antiques. Even the cutlery was a blast from the past. We felt like the reviews calling the breakfast superb were wrong (which is a major reason why we booked). We had high hopes, but the breakfast experience was a let down. No eggs, no pastries (only bread and quiche), no alternative sweeteners. The first morning of our stay, no fresh fruit. Basic fruit like apple, bananas and pears would have helped (not a fruit salad). Perhaps we were expecting hotel standards, since people raved about it. If you love croissants, salmon and quiche, go there. After taking a shower that first night, we found that the bathroom floor and carpet had what seemed like animal hair. The breakfast and cleanliness of the rooms were the biggest let down.

The only thing I would comment on is the additional cover at the end of the bed had a big stain which given the quality of everything else was a little surprising. - Jill (9/5): A luxury B&B close to the centre of Hobart - The room and bathroom were both spacious and very well appointed. It was a treat to have a bath and separate shower, and the quality of the towels and bed linen was excellent. The breakfast buffet offered a reasonable choice, though tended to get a bit crowded. There was only a bedside table and light on one side of the bed, and the coffee at breakfast was disappointingly weak. Also I did not receive the door access code, but luckily there was a number to call so we were able to get into the building and there find our room key.

- Roger (10/5): Lovely old world charm - It's a little more laid back than a hotel and appeals to an older demographic which works well around the communal breakfast table. This place needs a stay of at least 3 nights to get into the vibe of the place. We stayed 6 nights, it was starting to feel like home. The coming home to a glass of port is something I can get used to. We stayed in room 4, it had two steps down into the bathroom. When you're pushing 60+ and even with cyclist legs, I would have really liked a hand rail because if you get the step wrong you'll be headed straight at the ceramic vanity pretty fast, especially in the middle of the night when you prefer not to turn lights on to wake your partner more than necessary.

Lovely fresh breakfasts, with very friendly staff. In a great position, 20 minute walk into Hobart CBD, close to Sandy Bay’s beautiful waterfront. Loved our 7 day stay there and would definitely stay again.

It made me think, if you hate doing the job so much, don't do it. The coffee at Breakfast could not be described as coffee, we're currently in an Air bnb with a rain water tank and the warm water here has more colour than the coffee served at the rivulet. No taste whatsoever. The price for the night was twice as much as a place we stayed at in Hobart 4 weeks ago and that place was twice as good. No cups in the bedroom.

- Karen (4/5): Cannot recommend an unresponsive hotel. - We were in the strand alone cottage, Waratah. The facilities were nice and the location was great. There was a strong unpleasant odor we think was coming from the frig or A/C due to a refrigerant leak. Management was absolutely unresponsive. Local staff brushed us off because previous guests had not complained. I thought it was bleach or a strong cleaner at first. The smell aired out and was worst went the cottage was shut up for awhile. We were very disappointed to be ignored.

Belle balade le long de la côte pour découvrir les petites rues avec les belles demeures anciennes (Arthur circus park) et de nombreux restaurants dont un grec "ATTICA" fabuleux et un Italien "DON ANGELO" pour ces deux restaurantspensez à réserver il y a également un très bon restaurant indien tt à côté . A proximité des départ de randonnées juste à côté du terrain de sport. Il y a des lapins le soir dans les rues, des cacatoès et des petits perroquets gris et roses qui sont en totale liberté. Rien

No bench space to put toiletries etc in the bathroom The lounge room configuration and sofa set up made it difficult to watch TV comfortably. There was no WiFi access and smart TV wouldn’t connect to WiFi so we couldn’t access streaming platforms.

- Kate (9/5): Beautiful, warm, and comfortable – highly recommend - The room was beautiful and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. The breakfast was fantastic – truly a highlight. The location was lovely and the communication was great. The bathroom had a great shower, but there was very little space for managing toiletries. Obviously space is at a premium, but just be aware! And the television requires mirroring (you can't screencast or log into your account on the television) – again, absolutely workable, but if you have an iPhone it might not work as well.
