The constant in and out every time you just want to stop by for an hour to change for dinner or something is a hassle with dropping the car off and requesting it again. Other than that it was fabulous!

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL, very poor service, the staff is not trained.,behave arrogantly.I'll start in order, my wife and I decided to stay for one night, I paid all fees and taxes through the booking site, it turned out to be $ 2000 per night.When we arrived, we were met by a smiling guy, asked for an ID and a credit card, while not saying that we had to pay a deposit of $ 500 on the booking site, this information was also not there. When I went to my account, I was shocked.Then it turned out that they have paid Parking on the territory. This is a 5-star hotel and a paid parking of $45. It turned out later. They didn't tell me about it, I accidentally asked, after that I raised a scandal and called the manager to settle the scandal, they gave us free parking and immediately returned the deposit. The story does not end there. When we checked out at 11:00 the next day and went to the reception. They made us pay a resort fee of about 69$, note this is in addition to the amount that I already paid including all fees and taxes, they said some kind of resort fee that is not included in basic payment on the booking site. Don't go to this hotel if you don't want to ruin your holiday. They will try their best to deceive you

- Kristy (10/5): New Favorite Hawaiian Resort - Our new favorite Hawaiian resort by far and maybe the best tropical location resort we've visited. The 2 bedroom ocean-view villa was exceptional. Gorgeous views over the pool and ocean. Beautiful decor, comfy furniture, and especially the amazing balcony with daybed, loungers and large dining table. Kitchen well stocked. We could have cooked complex meals and would have had everything we needed. Coffee was very good provided in the room with a very nice carafe style coffee maker. The resort grounds are beautiful. The pool is the most amazing pool we've ever seen. Very private with lots of hidden lagoons. Loungers around the pool were outstanding. Large with very thick cushions. Towels poolside were the only thing I found lacking, stained and small. Loved the adults only pool but no staff seemed to do anything to limit kids access so there were occasionally kids screaming through the pool. Also, I found it odd the entire top level of the pool complex isn't adults only since there is a hot tub and a little lagoon area to the right of the Serenity pool which was full of families and loud kids which made the Serenity pool not so serene. Pool service was good not great. Definitely not attentive. In room dining food and service excellent. Valet/Bell services were excellent. Very helpful, always addressing us by name. Loved the private transpiration within the Kapalua resort. Very convenient for dining and the occasional run up to the general store.

I felt like they could have had more options for food on the property but I guess I just being picky but really that is my only complaint. Restaurants were good but quite pricey.

In 2018, Montage Kapalua Bay created an unparalleled experience in Maui. However, our last vacation there (2019) had some major inconsistencies, and it was very disappointing. It definitely fell way short of the World Renown Reputation of Montage. I can't say if we will be back again. And I say that with a heavy heart, because I actually love Montage Resorts. I feel like I lost confidence in Montage Kapalua Bay's ability to deliver that World Class Experience that Montage is World Renown for. We purposely select Montage Kapalua Bay as our destination because of their philosophy of "an ultra luxury hotel", "devoted to delivering that World Class Experience to their guests", and a place where you and your loved ones can "create lasting and cherished memories". Additionally, Montage Kapalua Bay describes on it's website, "Hawaiian lifestyle at it's finest", and "luxury, rest and relaxation across 24 acres of tropical paradise." Needless to say, that was not our experience in 2019. Since I am limited to only a certain number of characters, I'll be brief. We had cockroaches, Eco-Lab came to spray, the dishwasher overflowed and had to be replaced twice, we got moved to a room with a poor view, and we heard hammering and sawing both on the lanai and inside the residence (in the new room we were moved to), etc...

We we arrived at the hotel we were greeted with lei’s and fresh pineapple and there was a welcome banner for my kids in the room as well as a cake for my husband and my anniversary!! Amazing first impression! We stayed in a two bedroom residence which was spacious and beautiful - two master bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and a full kitchen and laundry with a beautiful balcony and view. Our family of four was so comfortable! We loved the beautiful scenery around the resort and enjoyed the pool, beach,gym and restaurant. It was walking distance to Merriman’s restaurant next door which really had fantastic food. We will definitely stay there again next time we are in Maui!

I suggest renting a car or motorcycle for a day or two and heading North to see some of the nicest beaches and bathing spots around. You won’t need a vehicle for your entire stay as you will want to enjoy alll of the on property amenities.

Our stay was complete paradise from the time we were greeted at the valet. The residence was spacious and well appointed. The extra large patio provided a lovely setting to take in the ocean view and ground of this property. The design of the heated pools was unique including waterfalls. The location provides for access to beautiful shoreline, tide pools and vegetation. Our experience with all staff was excellent; guest experience is their priority and it shows. We enjoy luxury properties and this one is our top choice for luxury resorts. We look forward to returning again soon!
- Manoj (10/5): One of the premier hotels in Maui. - Between the grounds, the staff, the service and being in a heavenly location, The Montage does not disappoint. The rooms are suites with kitchens and massive lanai’s. The view? Unparalleled. The beach? It’s Maui.. if someone is staying here and finds reason to complain, that person would complain anywhere. Our bags, groceries or whatever we gave to the valets regularly was arranged in our room before we got there. Shampoo, hangers and towels were requested and brought, promptly and on a platter. Close proximity to great beaches, restaurants, golf and everything else Kapalua has to offer. We even came in via the Kapalua airport and were in the hotel minutes after landing. Every request was met with a smile. It’s going to be hard to stay anywhere else when in Maui!
- Verified traveler (2/5): Not 5-star service - The staff and service is definitely not a five-star level. Upon checking in, we weren't given ANY information about the property. Our room wasn't ready (which was fine) but we had to pry and ask to get any info on where we could store bags and hang out. They didn't even give us a map until we asked. Beach: the beach is PUBLIC access, so it's more like a 3-star vibe. Just fair warning. We called for a late checkout and they informed us it would be $150 for just one hour more. Keep in mind, we are paying $2,000, two THOUSAND dollars and they demand $150 for a one hour late checkout. You would NEVER get that at other properties like Ritz Carlton. This was my first and last stay at Montage, it's far from a five star experience.
- Greg (8/5): Not up to Montage Laguna Beach Standards - We like to say that Montage Laguna Beach is a “6-Star” resort. Amazing staff, great facility and property, complimented by outstanding restaurants ranging from casual poolside to once a year special occasion destinations. Kapalua Bay is a beautiful property but the experience disappointed. Staff was not nearly as friendly and professional, aside from Bell Staff. Really only one restaurant, with bar attached. Food was only okay, worked out to $50 each for breakfast; more for dinner. In the bar area, fabric cushions were soiled. Really? Having to leave the property for a good meal/dining experience was not what we expected!
- James (8/5): Couples' pre-Christmas vacation on Maui - The Montage is a wonderful facility, with an excellent staff. Our room (one bedroom suite) was spacious and well appointed. The grounds and pools were beautiful. Our only disappointment was in the noise created by young children -- essentially unattended (parents at the bar, not paying any concern) -- running around and screaming in the area adjacent to the restaurant's outdoor seating. Not just a 'one time' incident, or for a few moments. Rather, for nearly the entire time of our dinner. Back and forth -- chasing each other, even multiple times brushing by out table -- for over ninety minutes. It was difficult to have a conversation -- and it certainly ruined the mood of the evening. Later, we went to play billiard in the bar and the children then came and ran around their parents' table, still shrieking and screaming. We understand that children cannot always be kept quiet. But, it would be helpful if parents displayed even a modicum of concern for the experience of others in the vicinity.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Beautiful Hotel - This hotel is really beautiful. The check in was flawless. The staff are really amazing and take care of anything you should need. The resort never feels too crowded and there are many spots to relax. We checked out the spa and it was a beautiful experience, I highly recommend it. The room itself was huge. It has everything you could ever want, so spacious. My only complaint is that I had to ask twice for a nightly turn down service (as we were a party of 3 and we needed the couch folded out to a bed). The kitchen was also not stalked daily with cream etc and I think it should be. I would definitely be back.

They were the most accommodating staff I have ever had the pleasure to stay with. The pool is open 24 hours a day which was great after our trip that the kids could go swimming at 9pm. The hotel itself is amazing & the rooms beautiful. Love, love this hotel! Will definitely be back.

The path to the room was through the outer edges of the property near a garage, walls were filthy. Elevators have gone decades without renovation and seemed more like service elevators. There was a rust covered, dirty steel door directly adjacent to the entrance to the room. Room was spacious. Robes provided by the hotel had numerous stains, not sure if they had ever been washed. Too high of a price for a low end resort that operates with complete disregard for cleanliness and the comfort of guests

- Verified traveler (10/5): - Montage Kapalua Bay is a new resort, and you can tell they have studied a lot of other resorts and have done their homework. Montage Kapalua Bay is all about quality over quantity. And I mean this in the best of ways. Some resorts strive to offer a vast array of amenities that I have found can sometimes be overwhelming when you're trying to relax on vacation. But Montage Kapalua Bay focuses on a few key areas, and they excel in each and every one of them. Not to mention the location and view and the beach next to the resort are incredible. In the middle of winter when supposedly the swells are too much to snorkel most of Hawaii's northern shores, I was able to experience some of the best beach snorkeling I have every seen. The rooms are immaculate with sweeping views of Molokai. Also, the whales -- I can't forget the whales. Where they decided to put this resort must be a whale's favorite spot. Right in front of the resort and out your window, we saw probably 10-15 breaches a day. We will definitely be recommending this resort to our friends and family.

- Dee (6/5): A disappointing experience - My fiancé and I stayed here for four nights and although we had an amazing trip, our experience at the Montage was disappointing. We came directly from another (less expensive) five star resort on the South side of Maui so it’s hard not to directly compare the two stays. PROS: Large room (it was more like a condo, complete with separate living room, kitchen, and laundry) Excellent dining options nearby - Cane & Canoe, Spa Montage Juice bar, Merrimans is a short walk. Gorgeous views and balcony Nice Spa facilities with steam room, sauna, and additional pool/hot tub area. Beautiful beach nearby that was great for snorkeling CONS: Our internet was down when we arrived, and spotty the day after. ATT coverage stayed at 1 bar or no service. Valet forgot that they offered to have our car ready for a reservation and we ended up running late as a result, beach towels were often missed when we returned the car, and they got the gender wrong on letters sent to the room. We had to deal with theft on the hotel grounds while distracted, so you will need to pay attention to what you leave on the side of the pool or in your chair. During rainy seasons, this side of the island seems to get a lot more rain (on rainy days, it seemed to clear up significantly about 30 minutes south). The quality of the photographs from the hotel’s no obligation photo session were poor. We were given two broken coffee makers in a row. The nearest hot tub was out of service for our stay.

- Eddie (10/5): Perfection in comfort home away home - We came to Montage Kapalua with great expectations. And we were not disappointed. Our suite is facing the pool and ocean, with direct view to Molokai. From the position of each of the 5 buildings, I believe almost all suites are ocean facing. The large lanai is one of the popular spot in our family, the kids just hope on to the chairs all the time. We setup the in-room breakfast there, and it is better view/comfort/relaxation compared with going to the restaurant for breakfast. All in all, great resort, very well cared ground, new facilities. Great onsite restaurants and pool side bar/lunch. New crowded at all. The Kapalua beach is just next it, and resort guest can get free chair/umbrella, it's a great site for snorkeling.
- Cole (10/5): Montage Honeymoon - Our overall stay at the Montage was fantastic. However, I recommend that no one ever stays in room 4305. All you can hear is movement in the lobby. We lost 4 nights of sleep because of this room and all they offered was to cover our resort fee/valet parking after paying a lot of money to stay with them. The staff was fantastic and moved us in the end but the Montage claimed there was nothing they could do about room rates since we booked thru expedia. I highly recommend the montage due to their services but they need to have a better policy when people are spending close to 1K a night to stay with them. It makes you not want to book thru expedia if they claim it limits there ability to make things right!!!

Have stayed at Ritz Carlton Kapalua and 4 Seasons Wilea - Montage Kapalua Bay exceeds both across the board. Expensive but so worth it!
