• Hassan (8/5): - This is a beautiful resort hotel. Good for leisure but not so much for business as the rooms are too far from the main lobby and the reception/breakfast area. The rooms are spread across acres of land close to the lake.
• Diana (6/5): - The service was ok but some of the basics were missing from the room such as slippers and dressing gowns . One phonecall and the slippers were delivered . But , i didn’t expect a 5 star hotel not to have dressings gowns .

• Michael (4/5): - This place is not cheap. The level of service was not commensurate with the price. Beautiful grounds and facility. HOWEVER, they could not find my reservation on arrival (booked through Expedia, I provided confirmation number) and kept us waiting for 30 minutes while they worked it out. Rooms were available so to keep us waiting was needlessly vexatious. The front desk staff blamed Expedia, without taking responsibility for their role. Water pressure in the room was low to the point of having barely a drip for shower. Despite booking for 2 adults, breakfast was included for only one. Just a low level of service that one would expect from a cheaper hotel, not worth the $400 I paid.
• Verified traveler (6/5): Nice but not worth the price - On the surface this is a lovely resort. However, rooms are a bit grubby and noise all night from construction. Air conditioning did not work very well.

• CHRISTINE (6/5): - Great staff, great food, good rooms, but weekend nights have to be the worst nights for staying. Multiple events and wedding receptions are held right next to the accommodation residences from 10.00am to 11.00pm. Don't expect a restful day and evening if booking for the weekend.
• Jean Bernard (8/5): - I didn’t like the fact that room services left plates at my door for more than 3 days. This is so unclean. This is risk for travelers to pickup bugs and cockroaches in their bags and bringing it to their homes .
• PAUL (8/5): - VEry well run and top class. Managers seem on top of things. At price I paid it was good value. Bathroom, matress, desk, room size, wifi, food quality were all high,. It is however too spead out.Gym and pool were 690 m from my room. some rooms would be even further - and it is somewhat uphill outdoor in heat and rain
• Léontine (2/5): - They made my parents visit a painful one. I booked for my parents to stay there and I paid the airport shuttle and we had to remind them to pick them up and when they checked out they tried to scam them and charge them again a 53$! They thought they were going to pay because of the rush of checking out! Fortunately I took a picture and I had the bank proof!! You are scammers!! No slippers in the room and my dad had to pay a 20 000 Ugandan shilling for slippers! I celebrated my birthday over there and forgot my phone at the security point bucket at the hotel entrance and it got stolen,we are all convinced after the shuttle issue that it was stolen there! And the location phone is showing last seen there! We spent a lot on birthday and my dad wanted to enjoy the birthday celebration and asked to put the bill on the room and he would pay later and they made it an issue saying he could leave without paying as his room was paid in advance,yes because a important person from another country is going to leave without paying a miserable 250$!! The only decent person in that hotel was Samuel the server!! He treated us well and his service was amazing. The management is disorganised and they are crooked!! All scammers!! I will not recommend this hotel to anyone! If you choose to book,take pictures of every receipt as the wifi too may not allow you to check your bank account statements!
• Carmen (2/5): - This is the last time I will ever stay here. It has gone downhill the last few years and this is the last straw. (Between 2017-2023 I have stayed here 13-15 times and I will never return). The internet was so bad I had to use my own data from Canada - the exact thing happened last year May 2022 when I stayed here and they told me it was because they ‘had a conference’. That is no excuse- they need to buy more data if they have more people on the property. The same excuse was given this time - I’m on a business trip and it’s unacceptable to have no workable Wi-Fi for a hotel that charges this much money. Second, I had booked an upgraded room from the standard room and when I looked at it it was on the ground floor and the screen was broken and the room had a very strong smell of cockroach/ pesticide spray. I asked for a second floor room and was told I would need to pay an extra $110 a night! To not be in a room with a broken screen and terrible smell! Unbelievable. Third, everything feels cheap and falling apart. The shower this morning had no water and then no hot water for half an hour. If it was a cheaper place I would understand but at this price point you actually need to work to keep the place acceptable. When I first stayed here there was matching toiletries with an African brand - now it’s all mismatched with many in what looks like a blank toothpaste tube with just the word shampoo. This is not acceptable at this price point. I will be moving to stay at Latitude next
• Christine (10/5): Pamper yourself and enjoy Lake Victoria. - Lush resort with relaxing spa and beautifully decorated rooms with crisp sheets luxe amenities. Dining on the terrace was enhanced by a wide array of international offerings. Staff was welcoming, courteous and helpful.
• Isaac (6/5): - Nice calm place. I did not like the complex business processes and the staff have passive rudeness (they are polite in speech but often ignore instructions and orders, sometime pretend they have not heard what you have heard). Another thing, the internet in the residential rooms and the restaurant is horrible and frustrating. It is however very good in the conference centre. Hence, I can never go here as a business travelller.

• Emma (6/5): - It is a beautiful hotel and grounds which are nicely kept. They also have a lovely infinity pool and a larger pool. The food was good and great that you can order food from the restaurant at any time. However, there were a few things I was not happy with give the expensive price: - we did not have wifi in our cottage until the last couple of days - we didn’t have hot water the last couple of days - all the managers are Asian. None are African. - our cottage, which is set back from the hotel, is near a nightclub which was playing loud music most nights until the early hours. - pillows were hard. I don’t think I slept well any of the nights

• ELAINE (6/5): - The resort was beautiful and quite peaceful. A good getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. The hotel staff should be given a refresher in good customer service. It was lacking particularly for those serving in the restaurant. Quite disappointing
• Kim (10/5): - Beautiful property and very clean. Active webbing hub on the weekend, but noise was not an issue. Helpful, accommodating staff despite a couple of mishaps. Spa was lovely and the 50M pool was a favorite.
• Carmen (2/5): - Every time I check in they do not recognize or honor the room type I have booked on Expedia. They try to convince you to ‘upgrade’ to a worse room they call ‘executive’. They did this in February as well as this trip- only because I have stayed here so many times (this will be my last time, they have no record or memory of regular guests) I need to remind them I know which room I booked and paid for. This is such bad service. Be warned travelers - they will offer you an ‘upgrade’ to a worse room with no balcony. Not staying again here after it being my regular place for 5 years.

I asked one of the staff members and refused to open the room or provide any additional help. Overall positive experience; rooms were very clean, and comfortable.

• Verified traveler (8/5): - The children’s pool kept our grandkids and their friends of various ages happily playing all day with a wall dividing two depth levels, they could choose which side to play in while the 2 and 3 year olds were kept safe. The Olympic size pool gave so much space for swimming and games with older kids. The pool service was excellent and I enjoyed a massage inside the massage tent.

• Verified traveler (8/5): - I have to admit that I was a little disappointed with our accommodation when we first arrived but by the end of our stay I had warmed up to it. We stayed in one of Speke's suites which overall was clean and comfortable but there were areas that would definitely benefit with being updated. For example, the kitchenette could do with an upgrade. The fridge in our suite didn't have handles which made it difficult to open and the facia on the top of the fridge was missing which made it look unclean. The floor cupboards didn't have backs to them which could provide an entry point for insects. I know we are in Africa and you have to expect the odd insect every now and again but reducing their entry points helps to avoid the situation in the first place. The bathroom seemed to have been partially upgraded but the shower pressure was poor and the floor tiles within the shower were very slippery when wet. Textured tiles in this area would reduce the possibility of guests slipping in the shower. On a positive note, the outside spaces of this property are amazing. It is situated next to Lake Victoria and has beautiful lush green gardens and views. However at night the outdoor dining areas are a little on the dark side which made it difficult to read menus. This could be a deliberate ploy to avoid insects being attracted to lights and causing a nuisance to guests whilst dining. Overall this is a nice hotel in fantastic location. I would stay here again but maybe in a different room.

• shirley (2/5): Not a Tourist hotel - After having booked this hotel over 12 months prior to the stay, we were more than disappointed not to have been notified that most of the hotel and its amenities would not be accessible due to a large conference with important officials. We were unable to access the swimming pools, riverfront, gardens and was put in a room at the back of the hotel. Every time we went into the hotel foyer we had to go through a security check and our bag were searched. The main reason we booked the hotel was that it was on the shores of Lake Victoria. We could not even see the lake from the hotel due to the security measures for the conference
• Johanna (6/5): - Service was inconsistent. Some days they did quite well, and other days they did not. They don't really seemed geared toward a business traveler. They do a lot of events, weddings, etc. and seem more focused on a vacationing traveler. The events mean really loud music late into the even, especially on the weekends. Some of the good things: the place is beautiful, nice pools, great security, good food, and lots of things to do are available. It is a very family friendly place. Some of the downsides: They seem to struggle sometimes with not having effective internal communication among their staff and that resulted in service that was lacking or non-existent a few times during my stay. I tried to overlook it, but it happened repeatedly over the course of a week. I did talk with management, when asked about it, but still had additional issues. It seems to be an older property so there were things like, the bathroom sink barely drained, the AC unit had to be reset several times each day, and adapters (which they do provide) are needed for international travelers. They were doing some renovations in some areas while I was there and it seemed like the main building was much more up to date. Wifi was in and out a lot as well. Staff's intentions seemed quite good but follow through was a recurring problem.

• ian (8/5): Great hotel, quiet and out of town. - Great hotel, huge area with lots of sports facilities. Restaurant great, the room can be patchy dependant on if you you get one of the upgraded rooms or the old ones. Tip: don’t feed the monkeys they are terrorists...only downside is it’s out of town, so access to local restaurants is subject to Boda or taxi, but if you like a quiet location, probably the best hotel in Kampala.
• Verified traveler (6/5): - Unfortunately, I doubt I would stay at Speke again. My room was not as depicted on pictures. The washroom was old and thus not looking clean. There was a strong smell in the room which I believe was mosquito repellent. Not pleasant. WiFi is very spotty. It is not a 5* hotel. The staff is all very nice, breakfast is fine and the location and amenities are great. It could be a good option if you need a very large group to stay at the same hotel. But unfortunately that is not enough for me to stay there again. This hotel gets a pass but no more. It needs upgrade of bathroom and use some other way to keep the mosquitos away than spray.
• ian (8/5): Probably the best choice in Kampala and good value - Great hotel and complex, it’s huge, in a good way. I stayed in a deluxe room, which I thought was great value for money. The food was good and the swimming pool and gym area are excellent. I was working and initially thought I should be near the centre of town, but it was better for travel to stay here. So don’t think you need to be in the center. The internet was fast and sustained. Only minor complaint was a lack of sports channels on the TV, which I was told was a temporary issue.

• Tracey (8/5): Hoima's Hidden Little Jewel - Older style large resort property with some newer features and very good service. Check-in was slow, our triple room room was double booked, but the staff and manager was very friendly and helpful in relocating us. There was also some painting on our building which was messy. The pool, playground, trampoline, gym were all good modern features and the staff was very sensitive to serving breakfast to every guest. They have lots of plans for horseback riding and there was an event for the UN.

Before I continue I have to say I give their staff, the grounds and food 9/10. I wish they put the same investment in the room I was in. The room was terrible. It had a bad bed, beddings and poor lighting. If I had to judge that hotel based only on the room, I would give it a 5/10. Please update room 552 because it doesn’t belong in a hotel that’s 3+ star category
• damani (10/5): - Amazing and memorable stay. A resort all the way and all grades of staff with their friendly and excellent service made our stay extra special. If in Kampala this is definitely the place to stay.
• Phillip (4/5): - This is one of the worst resort I have ever stayed. A big disappointment, the bed is hard, the pillow is neck breaking. In the night the floors where my room was, was so noisy, the house keeping staffs were making noise talking and cleaning the rooms between at 1, 2 and 3 AM in the mornings. When I spoke to the receptionist about the noise at that time in the morning, he explained the time the airlines staffs are going and coming. The rooms are not insulated, when other guests or house keeping using the pipes in the bathrooms it sounded very loud in my room. The grounds are clean and beautiful.
• Linda (8/5): - Stayed at the Speke Resort for 3 nights following a tour through Uganda and gorilla trekking. It is a large complex with beautiful grounds right on Lake Victoria. Activities abound with great gym facilities, spa, horseback riding, Olympic pool and boating. We stayed in a newly remodeled superior room. Fantastic!! Large room with comfortable bed. Beautiful marble bathroom with awesome shower and double sinks. Food in the restaurant was alway wonderful, particularly their Indian and Asian menu. This is a very busy hotel on the weekends because they host anywhere from 2-5 weddings and receptions. During this time The service can be quite slow in the evenings. Otherwise the overall service is excellent, very friendly and always with a smile.
• Peter (8/5): - Hotel in general is OK, The room however did not meet my expectations for a deluxe room.
• Vincent (10/5): - The staff is very accommodating and helpful. From the GM, to the doormen, they do serve the guests.
• James (8/5): Beautiful Hotel: However... - Really lovely hotel, beautiful grounds, good rooms apart from the bathroom looked a little dated. Definitely feels safe if safety is a concern for you. However, the service is rather poor and both my girlfriend and I contracted terrible food poisoning from the hotel restaurant (we both had different dishes), being violently ill for 2 days really compromised our week in Uganda. We have since been told by expats that food preparation is frequently substandard across the hotels, however we expected better from a 5* resort. The general service leaves a little to be desired - just small things that one would assume is common sense, e.g. we arrange for late check out as we had food poisoning, on returning from breakfast the staff were cleaning our room and had removed the towels. We also found a lot of the staff, particularly in the restaurant, a little subservient. I think most westerners would prefer a smile and some lighthearted chat. Maybe the Chinese guests might prefer differently.
• Verified traveler (10/5): Probably one of the best hotels in Africa. - Very modern resort hotel close to both Entebbe airport and Kampala City
• Sally (10/5): - Lovely gardens, with the restaurant terrace going right into the gardens with their fountain and flowing water. Restaurant was good. I only ate the Indian dishes, and the tandoori chicken was excellent. The pool for residents only is right next to the lake so swimming there is like swimming in the lake. Very quiet and secluded.

• Stephen (8/5): - The grounds were beautiful, excellent food service and the rooms were nice.
• Summermkhululi (8/5): Great definition of a getaway resort - The experience was as expected though the poolbar experience needs to be re-engaged to the old ways it used to be.
• Brenda (10/5): Well established. Excellent management! - Love this place!
• Jonathan (8/5): - This hotel has a really lovely setting next to Lake Victoria and is an obvious place to stay, with good facilities and pleasant, friendly staff at all levesls. However it was a little disappointing as this time it was extremely difficult to get wi-fi in the room, which was also short of expected items like hangers for trousers, and things like slippers. Otherwise I cannot fault my stay.
• Rajakumari (4/5): Mouldy mattress and leaky roof - Checked in and found mouldy mattress and also very torn mattresse. 2 mor rooms offered that were not optimal and then checked into the 4th room and woke up at 5 am with a leaking roof over my bed . In less than 24 hours I packed and unpacked 7 times !! GM apologised and upgraded me to another room in the main building. Also compensated for the inconvenience but had to complain hard before any action. Expensive hotel but lacks quality for the price. Staff are very nice and friendly and food was reasonable Resort so you are stuck but on the lake location is nice. Shame about the cleanliness and leaking roof.
• John (8/5): - very good hotel. Peaceful but within reasonable distance to city of Kampala.It will be even better when the expressway opens.Breakfast was adequate and the a la carte dinners were excellent although the English style fish and chips were not good. Outdoor activities were good and the pool was excellent and very clean. The garden areas were always being attended to by the local staff. I would recommend this hotel to anyone for a relaxing break.Also for the business person who can work in comfort. It may not suit anyone who is looking for the razz a mataz of downtown Kampala.
• Verified traveler (2/5): - Unkind without any smiles. So old bathroom and dirts on the floor. Pick up tip first and clean up later.
• Patrick (8/5): Nice hotel, a lot of good facilities - The general experience of the hotel was quite good. But we were allocated a suite on the inner road side (noise of anything passing on this path, including noise of suitcases rolling on the pavement) and close to another building under (very active and noisy) renovation, including on sunday morning ; it made the stay in the bedroom very unpleasant, terribly noisy. But that was the only black point, all the rest being at a good standard level for this category of hotel.
• Andrew (8/5): would never ever go back again - never 5* service was good but rooms were 3* conference with poor internet just does not work
• Xiaohai (4/5): May be my last time to this hotel - Seevice was too slow, whether it was to check AC or pick up luggage, all took very long time.
• Jordan (10/5): Good oasis - Two of us were traveling to Uganda for work, and stayed at Speke Resort for the weekend, before beginning our work. The staff was immediately friendly and helpful in getting us to our room. We stayed in a two-bedroom suite with one bathroom, a living area, a kitchen area, and a balcony. The rooms were clean and large, and the hotel provided bottled water. We spent a lot of time by the pool, exploring the lakeside, and enjoying meals at the lakeside restaurant (which is not quite lakeside, but is near enough). The food is delicious, although the service is sometimes slow. But there is no need to rush when you are relaxing at the resort! Ibrahim even helped us book a rafting tour on the Nile in Jinja! Everything was exactly as he said when he booked the tour for us. We really enjoyed our short stay in this oasis in Kampala!
• Greg (8/5): Nice stay with friends - The resort itself was very good overall. I booked a two bedroom suite to share with friends which was spacious but basic! Staff were friendly and restaurant served good meals overall a good stay in a nice location. I rate it 4 out of 5.
