• David (10/5): Super homestay with friendly host - I was worried about turning up at two in the morning after my train from Madurai was delayed, especially as the booking confirmation said check-in was until 10 pm. But luckily two Spanish women flying from Delhi arrived at the same time, so we only had to rouse the friendly manager-owner once. The place is the best I have stayed in the country since arriving more than four weeks ago: clean, cheap, friendly, breakfast included

What a lovely, warm, and hospitable family! Homemade breakfast in the morning was a great start. Room was decent size and very clean! Hot water shower was powerful. The host family was such nice people. Love the granny especially! Hate that the dogs were barking so loud into the wee hours at night... but maybe just those few days I was there. I think 2 day stay is sufficient as there’s not really much to do in Fort Kochi.
• NICHOLAS (10/5): Highly Recommended! - Perfectly located in the centre of Fort Kochi (but off the main road), all the sights are within a short walking distance. Mr Abu and his son were very helpful in suggesting where to go for the New Year's Eve celebrations, breakfast was filling and the water was always hot. I very much recommend staying here!

• Veronika (10/5): einwunderbare entspannter Aufenthalt bei Mr. Aboo - Wir waren 2 Wochen im Honolulu Homstay und hätten uns gerne noch länger aufgehalten. Das Homestay ist eine einfache, saubere und nette Unterkunft im Herzen von Fort Kochin. Der Flughafentransfer klappte hervorragend. Herr Aboo, seine Frau und Team waren sehr herzlich, hilfsbereit und in allem außerordentlich entgegenkommend. Herr Aboo hat uns eine Backwater Tour vermittelt, die sehr schön war. Außerdem hat er uns Karten für ein indisches Musikkonzert und bei Bedarf ein Taxi besorgt. Wir haben uns dort sehr wohl gefühlt. Wenn wir einmal wieder nach Kerala fliegen, werden wir bestimmt dort wieder unseren Standort wählen. Die Lage war super. Manchmal sind wir mit der Motorrickscha gefahren, das ist günstig und nett. Von dort aus haben wir einige Unternehmungen vorgenommen. Die öffentlichern Verkehrsmittel, Bus, Zug und Fähre sind sehr pünktlich und wurden viel von uns genutzt. Auch mit dem Taxi haben wir längere Strecken unternommen. Das Taxifahren ist sehr günstig. Wir hatten wien sehr netten Taxifahrer, der hieß Joseph. Die Menschen waren alle außerordentlich freundlich und hilfsbereit.
• Karen (10/5): This is such a nice place to stay! - All the staff are particularly nice, helpful and friendly. Mr Aboo Taris goes out of his way to suggest activities and help you plan them. Activities which go beyond the guide book. There were some particular places I wanted to visit, that others may not be interested in, and he made it possible. He arranged airport transportation/pickup which was helpful for me since I was travelling by myself. Also he knows and can recommend other good auto and car drivers. It is a place to feel relaxed and comfortable.

• Verified traveler (10/5): Convenient location and great service - Shrumps (sorry, not sure about spelling) and Taris were great hosts, offering advice and organised a great tour of the Backwaters for us. They would go out of their way to be as helpful as possible and go the extra mile- highly recommend staying at Honolulu Home for excellent service. As with everywhere we've stayed in India, cleanliness is not top priority but sheets were clean and by India standards the room was certainly clean.

• Trudy (8/5): Genuine home stay just off the main road. - The owner and his family were super friendly. We enjoyed trying both the Western and Indian style breakfasts. Aboo was most helpful and had some useful tips and options for getting around. Tours and theatre tickets could also be purchased from him which was quite convenient. We enjoyed meeting other travellers over breakfast. Our room was comfortable with a lovely balcony and the air conditioner and fan both worked efficiently. Cold showers in a hot climate is Ok but the Honolulu will be even better when the new solar powered hot water system is installed. For female travellers and families Kochi Fort had a safe friendly feel and security at the Honolulu was excellent.
• Bishwaksen (8/5): Nice cosy homestay with very helpful owner - We had a nice time here. The rooms are clean, though a bit spartan. The ac worked fine. The tv was a bit of a problem. We were charmed by the pleasant and helpful nature of the owner. He helped us a lot. The wifi was decent and the complimentary breakfast was good.

• JULIE (8/5): Good position, safe, clean and good value - We stayed for 3 weeks the second time to Fort Kochi. It was a great base to come back to after local and interstate trips. This homestay is in a great position, centrally located among indian homes. We walked (10 min)to Princess St (major tourist centre) and the ferry pier. There is an auto stand at end of the street and the bus stops at each end if you don't want to walk. The front balcony mosquito proof room and ensuite was clean and had the basic comforts. Weekly housekeeping. The internet and hot water had ups and downs during our 3 wk stay.
• Chris & Julie (8/5): Friendly atmosphere - Frendly atmosphere and staff. We were greeted with a friendly welcome even at 2am. Centraly located within easy walking distance to everything you want to see and do in Fort Cochin. We felt safe and secure in our mosquito proof room with a nice breeze coming in from the balcony. This is not a fancy hotel - just down to earth accommodation for a reasonable price.

Mr Aboo consider each and everyone who comes to honolulu as their guest and treat them like anything....the tlrooms were spotless and the hospitality was tremendous. Wifi is free of cost and has a high speed connection. Mr Aboo and his son Taris really makes your stay enjoyable and honolulu provides you a home away from your home.....

• Verified traveler (10/5): Great location, great pricing - We stayed at this place for 3 nights. Its location is in Fort Cochin, the tourist hub in Kochi. All the major tourist landmarks of Kochi are located a small walk or a cycle ride away. The hosts are really courteous and very helpful. What you get here is exactly what they promise during online booking. All in all a value for money place.
• Verified traveler (2/5): Don't go there. - Dirty room and smelly bathroom. Mr. Abo the owner gave me a non A/C room and insisted that I did not pay for A/C. Only after I presented my online booking did he give me the remote controll!. There are plenty of better home stays at half his price. Must check out rooms and bathrooms before you checkin.

• Amritpal (10/5): Friendly Home Stay...Excellent Service - Our family, (2 adults and 3 teenage children), traveled to Cochin in July 2014 from Canada. We booked 2 rooms for 3 nights...had considered booking a fancy hotel for our remaining 5 days in Cochin. We loved our stay and ended up staying for one week at Honolulu Home. Mr. Aboo and his family were very hospitable...made us feel at home...The rooms were clean... had fans and air conditioners which made our stay very comfortable. Internet service was very useful as it helped us stay in touch with family back home. Daily breakfast was either South Indian (Idli, Vada, and Sambher) or North India (Puris with curried potatoes), and excellent masala chai. One night, they cooked us dinner which was delicious. Aboo was very helpful as he booked our trips to Munar and Alleppey backwater boating as well as tickets for Kathakali dance and classical Indian Music which was great. Aboo and his family were excellent hosts who looked after us and served as very resourceful guides about local sites and area. Aboo's family also arranged to have our laundry done and a car/driver for our trip to the Airport. It is walking distance to nearby restaurants and shops in Fort Kochi. We would highly recommend Honolulu Home and would stay there again.

• michael (10/5): Super Centralt - Alle Indiske byer er larmende og beskidte, så hvis man for venter fred og ro er området ved ford kochin heller ikke stedet . Det der gør det interessant at bo på Honnolulu home stay er helt sikkert mr. Abo. mega søde og imødekommende mand der gerne fortæller om sit liv som sømand og giver gode ideer til steder man bør besøge. Selve kochin er egenligt ikke vanvittig interessant som familie destination men helt sikkert et besøg værd for et døgn eller to. Så Aboo har vores hjerte, men det bliver dejligt at kommer ud til stranden..... Prøv iøvrigt stranden nord på ( carai, eller sådan noget) Maj, Michael og drendene

• Ravikumar (10/5): Comfortable and safe home stay - This is my first stay in Honolulu Home Stay at Fort Kochi. Though I reached there beyond the time I promised to them the owner Mr.Abuu was so helpfull and caring about my journey. He is very hospitable and welcomed us with warmth. As I went to the airport to pickup my relatives and returned with them past 02.00 AM he was there waiting for us and helped us to get settled with our heavy baggage . A sumptuous breakfast was also provided to us. The place is very close to all the important places in Fort Kochi. The rooms are very neat and tidy with clean and colourful linen. If you are on the lookout for a nice and safe place to stay this is the place I would recommend though two bed rooms are a bit small in size. A neat and spacious hall with a TV and a computer with Internet connection. As the road in which the home is situated is a bit narrow parking a van may be a bit difficult during day time, but cars no problem. Mr Abuu provides dinner also but only on request. Overall a very pleasent experience for my family and for our relatives from abroad.
