Guest Reviews
- Paul (8/5): - Very nice stay
- Tim (10/5): - This is a well kept, beautiful place to stay -- not far from the northern bit of Imerovigli and with easy access to the Fira-Oia walking track. There's plenty of parking at the property and access to a rocky, dirt track to walk up to the town, avoiding the busy road (no pavement). Closer to home, there's a smashing traditional Greek taverna, just four minutes walk away. Some nearby places deliver to Meli Meli on request too.
My elderly mother struggled a little with some of the steep and rocky paths, but we managed! Getting in and out of the gorgeous pool was a little harder for her -- there's just the one set of steep steps with a handrail.
- Veronica (10/5): - Meli Meli is a beautiful and relaxing property decorated with unique style. The swimming pool area is fantastic. Jackie was very accommodating and easy to get in touch with.
The only down side was that the road next by could be a bit noisy at times but nothing to worry about.
- Daria (10/5): - room was very nice with 2 balconies, one had view of the east coast. also the property has a pool. all in all perfect.
- Anna (10/5): - Smooth from start to finish. Jackie is very helpful in arranging car transfers and local information. The property is right next to the Fira/Oia coastal walk. Walking distance to the town with good selection of restaurants. Our east facing room is perfect to see the most spectacular sunrise and moon rise.
- Alice (10/5): - Such a great time at Meli Meli hosted by Markella and team. Cannot thank them enough for making our stay so wonderful.
- Kristy (10/5): - This stay was spectacular. The Owners at Meli Meli are amazing and so helpful. They were available for questions at all times and provided us with their phone numbers so we could text them with any questions we may have. We had never been to the area before and they gave us great recommendations and information about the area.
- Colin (4/5): A long walk to the village - Meli Meli is a long way out of the village - something not mentioned on their website. It takes a long walk along a busy main road and a mile walk up a very steep hill. As the village is the only place to get food and the local buses do not top near Meli Meli this was a bit of a holiday downer.
- Donna M (2/5): Meli Meli or Sleepy Sleepy - It was the worst place that I have ever been. I would like a refund on the purchase of the days (4) that I could not stay there! The sheets were piling, could not even sleep the sheets were so old. It was so far away from everything I had to rent a car. By the second day I had to get another hotel, Katerina's Castle, which was so much more accommodating. The owner of Meli Meli was gone most of the time. Also I waited for my breakfast till 11:00am and went down to the kitchen area, to find that he just woke up. It was the worst experience of my life!!!!! The photos are a lie. It's not what is advertised.
- irem (8/5): super friendly staff - We stayed at Meli Meli for 5 days and enjoyed it a lot. The staff is amazing!
- Joseph (10/5): Great value for money, nice and clean - Absolutely great value for money.
The team at Meli Meli were very helpful in organising different aspects of our trip, including airport transfer. All ran very smoothly.
Imerovigli centre only 10 minute walk.
- Sam (6/5): Would not stay here again - The hotel is up an hill, so problematic for someone with mobility issue. Room require many steps above the main lobby / eating area, so again, if you're older and using a cane ... this would be problematic. Great view of the ocean, but the rooms are very basic and plain. Road to room is unpaved and little bugs crawl into room. Room is like an outhouse. Breakfast and pool area is really nice. They had a nice spread for breakfast.
- Chris (10/5): A pleasant, clean and quiet oasis - Compared with several other hotels on our recent trip to Greece (4 and 5-stars), Meli-Meli was a pleasant surprise; whoever takes care of the property and the building does an excellent job. While the room size was average by Greek standards, it had an airy and open atmosphere. Staff was helpful and very nice.
Located on the main road just north of Imerovigli, it's not quite a Caldera-view place, but it does not cost an arm-and-a-leg. Oh, and it's a quiet respite after the incredibly overcrowded Fira and Oia. It's a 6-7 minute walk to a nice spot right on the caldera, right in the middle of the Fira-Oia trail: just walk north to the Tasos taverna and turn West.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Too expensive for what it offers - The place looks nice, but I would not recommend it. First of all, the location is not convenient. You would need a car or a motorbike, or walk to Imerovigli (with suitcases it can be too long). You can use the bus though. But, the staff could not provide us with help regarding the buses (timetables or directions).
We had to stay two more nights at Santorini (because of external reasons) and we paid for a much cheaper hotel, which provided free shuttle to airport or port. Meli Meli did not provide this service for free, but charged 14 euro approx per person. We also received this service for free at one hotel in Mykonos, so apparently it is pretty common.
In addition, the room is nice, but the air conditioning was no well located. As it was just above the bed, we froze if we let it on during the night. The bathroom had a hole on the floor, which had a lid that would move all the time, so it was easy to step on that hole. Really uncomfortable.
Also, the reception is not always open and when we needed their support there was no one there.
I am really sad to write this review, but I hope it is useful for the hotel to improve.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Hotel and staff were lovely.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Mixed feelings about our stay... - I have mixed feelings about our stay at Meli Meli. It's right on a major highway so there is lots of traffic noise. On the other hand, the grounds (especially the pool!) and the view are very lovely, and there is free parking (you definitely need a car to get around Santorini). The reception staff was very nice and helpful. That being said, there were several negatives. The worst was the fact that our A/C didn't work at all so it was warm, damp and musty in our room (#3). Every time we ran water in the sink, a drain in the bathroom floor would gurgle and there was a nasty smell. The "kitchenette" consisted solely of a mini-fridge with a small sink. We had reserved a "superior" room and I question whether that's what we got.
- Hein (6/5): Wish I was still there! - A charming guesthouse perfectly set up for exploring Santorini or relaxing by the pool on the lovely terrace.
Very convenient as it is on the bus route from the Harbour via Fira on the road to Oia.
Great, super clean, peaceful location on the way to Oia. A car or even better an ATV is required, as it's a short, but not pleasant (along main road) walk to the nearest village.
The room had a small kitchenette - but was missing the tea/coffee making facilities. Even so, breakfast was served in our room every morning and it was delicious. There is a swimming pool on the premises, free Wi-Fi
Tania is absolutely amazing. She together with her colleague makes Meli Meli very special.
She went out of her way to make me feel at home and helped me familiarise myself with the area.
The sunsets at the vibe at Oia are definitely a once in a life time item to add to your bucket list of things to do!
- Sum Yee (8/5): - Lovely small hotel with friendly service.
- SUN YOUNG (8/5): Great Great Great! - Have reviewed other comments, I was a bit worried about noise outside since this lovely petite hotel is near by the main load. However, when I visited there in early June, I did not have any inconvenience reagarding it, instead we enjoyed calm atmosphere in Imerovigli a bit apart from Fira and Oia area.
Reaching those areas took us just 10~15 min. by car and nor more than 30min. to the furthest, there were not may people in Imerovigli but beautiful scenery and a promenade of the back side of hotel. Location seems to be just great if you like calm and slow environment.
The room is spacy for two, and they provide the flips, and basic amenities, and the delicious breakfast TO THE ROOM EVERY MORNING which was the best part of this hotel. Tania at the receiption was soooo kind and a informative guide for the neighboarhood. I strongly recommend this hotel and would like to visit there again :)
- Pella Law (8/5): Nice little hotel - My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights in room No.1. Though it was close to the main road, it was very quiet at night. We loved the spot as it was easily access to other towns like Oia and Fira. The bus stop was just 3 mins away from Meli Meli and the bus was very on time. It was not crowded as Fira and very peaceful staying at Meli Meli. Mereanthi, the receptionist (sorry, forgot how to spell her name) was very nice and helpful. She helped us to look for car on our immediate request and the car is available for the next day. She recommended us to good restaurants as well. Every morning, breakfast would be brought to you. The total stay was a good experience to us.
- Jojo (10/5): Melimeli was the perfect place for us - Service was far beyond good, it was exceptional: arranging transfers, scooter booking, tips on what to do and where to go, doing washing and ironing a shirt for a wedding.
It's a great spot if you want a calm place and have a vehicle to discover the island. The hotel is just by the main road so there is some traffic noise. The taverna 200 m down the road (towards oia) from melimeli is very good and just behind it is a remarkable spot if you want the sunset to yourself far from the crowds in Oia or Fira.
Value for money is great!
