Guest Reviews
- S9029HW_ (2/5): terrible - Dangerous dirty, in the corridor it stinks so much of homeless people, the feeling that they go into a dull place right in the cabin. terrible smell. when I entered the room, he was covered in dog hair, including on the bed. this is terrible. Also in the afternoon I called the hotel and asked to change a room for two for me, the hotel confirmed what to change, and when I arrived at 22:00 they made me pay for 2 rooms and gave me 2 keys, it was already night and there was no time to argue and somewhere to go. very rude
- vicki2902 (8/5): Lovely little find with a lovely art display and nice terrace - This was a wonderful find. It’s not on the lake so you might miss it, but don’t. They have a lovely terrace out back. They were really friendly and welcoming, the service was great and not too invasive. Dish after dish that passed by smelt delicious. I had the Frutti Di Mare pizza and my partner had the ham and mozzarella calzone. Both were delicious. We ended off our meal with a tiramisu to share.
- 21budw (10/5): Cernobbio Gem - We walked 15 minutes from our hotel to Cernobbio. The restaurant was tucked back on the other side of Cernobbio. The food was wonderful and the service was great. We had a type of “frutti de Mari” pasta dish that was out of this world. The prices were very reasonable and the wine prices reasonable.
- Sugary25 (10/5): Great restaurant - amazing food and atmosphere - We went to the restaurant 3 times during our holiday and couldn’t get enough of it. Always fresh local food, smily staff and great atmosphere. I would recommend linguini with crab and grilled selection of fish. They have beautiful selection of deserts too. My picky 2 year old loved her pizzas and also had some tasty spaghetti made for her. I would certainly recommend the restaurant.
- davecW9606KC (10/5): Kenilworth WheelersCC- DC - 8 of us from Kenilworth Wheelers cycle club enjoyed a well deserved meal after 100 km bike ride.
Fantastic food and drinks super service best place in town
The owner Filippo treated our table to an after dinner drink
Ask to see the private dinning room
- Assya1980 (6/5): It was ok - The location was good (for my needs - business trip to a company near by). The staff was friendly. The restaurant has a nice garden and house wine which I enjoyed very much. However the room was the tiniest I have ever been to..small and dark. It felt as I was in a basement although I was on the 2nd floor. If all single rooms are like this one I would recommend single travelers to book a double room. The opening for the shower is extremely tight - I dont think it can be used by any person (in the picture you see the maximum capacity). The breakfast was by far the most boring one I've had in years. But the price was good compared to other hotels in the area!
- WheresEZNow (10/5): Outstanding Hotel and Restaurant! - I can't recommend this place enough! Very comfortable hotel, and the restaurant has a fantastic menu. The service at the restaurant and the hotel was top notch. Everyone, all the way up to Filipo the owner, was extremely attentive and friendly. Filipo's daughter Alessia also works there and was so kind to me and the friend I was traveling with, giving us directions to different places and helping us find a place to exchange our US dollars. 5+ stars for this magnificent place!
- evasM7278XI (8/5): Friendly and fun Hotel in the heart of Cernobbio - Excellent value for money, friendly and helpful staff, good breakfast and good location. Just make sure to have your earplugs nearby in case the church bells start ringing too early or the aircon makes too much noise.
- TravellerBillyDee47 (8/5): 2 nights in Cernobbio. - Spent two nights here recently and overall not too bad. Didn't have curtains in any of the rooms we saw, just a heavy lace. Couldn't figure that out. Very little storage and a small bathroom but overall room size and the bed was good. Brekky was ok, just a bit cramped for room on the tables as the food items weren't spread out enough. Hot water takes a while to come through so turn the shower on 5 mins before you get in.
The staff were good, the location very close to where the bus from/to Como stops so overall ok. Not sure we would book here again as I think Como itself is a better option for us.
- HarrisonJR001 (4/5): Functional. Very much lives up to it's Two Star Status! - Unfortunately myself and my party didn't have a particularly pleasant experience in this establishment.
We was put onto the 2nd floor ( of three floors ). It was antiquated, dark, not particularly clean, room 202 had an awful, very noisy, AirCon unit that soaked the floor!!. There wasn't a blackout curtain facility, so in the morning the early sun shone onto your prone form, there were shutters, but these were louvred, so they let in the rays!
Yes, it was mentioned that there wasn't a Lift, but, you kinda miss having one when there isn't one, especially as the communal areas wasn't air conned, and in the hot late summer, it's a bit of a chore climbing those stairs!!
I never personally ate at the restaurant, but my son did, twice, and was not impressed by the fayre.
The plus side was that the staff were efficient and helpful. The WiFi was adequate. The first floor appeared to have been refurbished/updated, and maybe the Albergo experience would have been more satisfying if we had been situated on this floor, but alas, i'll never know!!
The location was good for access to the Lake, but in a very quiet area of Lake Como with limited resources and not a lot to do/see/eat/be entertained....
With that all said, I guess you get what you pay for!!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Quirky little place. No curtains in any of the rooms we saw, just a heavy lace. Your door was either deadlocked or open, no snib lock, turn your hot water on 10 minutes before your shower or it will be cold, very little storage space and small bathroom. Breakfast tables were cramped for room, selection ok but no room to put your plate down anywhere to put anything on it. Size of the room and the bed were good. Location close to where the bus from Como stops so really, the place is ok just a few little issues that have you scatching your head and wondering why.
- bertpalmer (10/5): Great budget hotel - It was the cheapest hotel I could find and it met my expectations.
Everything was functional but quite old. An okay shower, good WIFI, quite a nice receptionist and very helpful Air con worked well and not noisy.
I would stay again if I wanted a budget hotel. It is right in the middle of the town so excellent location.
I didn't eat pizza there - they were fully booked.
- Susan (6/5): Old hotel but nice pool - Room was old and needed updating. Bathroom was tiny and cramped. Best part was the pool! Had a lovely view from the pool of the lake and mountains. Staff was friendly. Breakfast was average.
- batukaratas (10/5): Lovely - We are advised to go Albergo by our guide.
Unfortunately we had short time. Next time for sure , we will spend longer.
Too much to say, better to experience.
The view is also so nice, kind and polite people.
- 670christophg (6/5): Average italian restaurant - An average italian restaurant with Pizza in changing quality without abundant covering. Pasta is better in my view. Crazy mixed interior with hints of the 80's is a matter of taste in some way unique. Stuff is friendly and funny.
- LOrry_AB (10/5): Great artistic food - Our last night at villa d'este and we wanted casual. The concierge suggested gardenia and what a hit. Sleek and modern. My husband had a pizza for 8 euros that he couldn't finish and I had tuna encrusted with black sesame served over sautéed spinach. Gorgeous plate. Mine was about $18 euros. We shared an apple tart which was magnificent. The art was fun the service was super.
- IrisAnne (10/5): Perfect Pizza - Recommended by locals, this is a modern, sophisticated restaurant with charming management and staff. Lovely decor, fantastic pizzas and a great friendly atmosphere. Highly recommend. Pizza chefs also very professional and friendly. Very reasonable with a great choice.
- DDFarnham (8/5): Lovely, Friendly Hotel with a Great Location - The Giardino hotel and restaurant is located on the main road through Cernobbio just a few minutes walk to the lake and the ferry stop. The road is very busy and I would recommend asking for a room away from the road.
The small town of Cernobbio is very classy and everything including many restaurants, bars and coffee houses are within walking distance. The room I had was very basic and simple but had everything I required and was warm and comfortable. The shower was good and the water always hot.
The staff of the hotel are very friendly, and the food offered both at breakfast and in the restaurant is very good. Recommended.
- NiklasBorg (6/5): Great location and friendly staff, but slightly older room - The Giardino hotel and restaurant is located on the central walking street of Cernobbio, a 2 minute walk from the promenade on the lake, where the ferry to Como also leaves.
The location is excellent to walk around the beautiful small town of Cernobbio, but be aware that it is on a one-way street with heavy traffic. This became evident during the evening and the morning when the room became quite noisy. Additionally, the blinds did not block out enough light, and overall the room felt a bit dated.
On the positive side, the staff of the hotel is very friendly, and the food offered both at breakfast and in the restaurant during other meals is very good.
I would stay again at this hotel because of its great location that allows you to walk around Cernobbio and get to Como quickly with the ferry, but request a newer room, which the hotel has.
- EconomistGuy (8/5): Very Good Pizza - Enjoyed a great pizza and a carafe of house red blend..... both very good. Staff was attentive and place had a good vibe.
My only knock is the decor. Super bright lights apparently to highlight art combined with modern decor isn't my idea of a relaxing evening in Italy. We like the old cantina atmosphere... stone walls, wood tables. Next time we'll to takeout.
- markwithb (8/5): Enjoyable business trip - three nights with breakfast - Three pleasant nights at the hotel in a single apartment with breakfast:
- friendly service: (early) check-in/-out, socket-adapter, trip information etc.
- extensive breakfast
- top restaurant and possibility for take away (e.g. pizza)
- great WIFI
- central but quiet
- cozy room (functional bathroom with static shower head)
It did not feel like a business trip thanks to the location, the hotel and the friendly staff. I will come back and recommend everyone to try out at least the restaurant.
- artnbarb1288 (10/5): Great Location for A One Night Stop Or For A Few Days - We were travelling from Switzerland to central Italy and this hotel was recommended to us by a fellow traveler. The location was perfect, much smaller than Como, easy to walk around, and easy to catch a boat to tour the lake or visit Como and surrounding towns.
I missed the notice to reserve a parking spot - they only have 3 spots - but we found paid parking right up the street. Free parking is available a few streets over, but you'll have to carry your luggage since there's no place to stop and unload in front of the hotel.
The room was clean and adequately sized for our 2 night stay. (For a longer visit I would have wanted a dresser with drawers). The AC was welcome, and the street noise died down after 10 p.m., but if you go to bed early and/or are sensitive to noise, ask for a room in the back.
The staff was always friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was very nice, and even included fresh eggs to soft or hard boil. We ate dinner at the restaurant both nights and the pizza was delicious. Service was good for both breakfast and dinner.
The hotel offers good value for money, and is easy to reach for those just passing through. For those staying longer, Cernobbio is much quieter than Como, but still well connected.
The artwork featured on the walls ranged from modern to funky to bizarre, and was quite a surprise.
Be warned: there is no lift/elevator.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel close to Centre - Nice hotel. Everything was perfect. Friendly staff, central location, nice restaurant. Good price value balance
- Philip (8/5): Lake Como stopover - Stayed for one night on route back to Hook of Holland travelling by m/cycle. The receptionist was very helpful and cheerful and our room was clean, bright and well fitted out. The restaurant was very busy with two large parties so we decided to eat out at the Miralago by the lake- an excellent choice of food and good service. We did use the bar on our return, small but again friendly staff and good service. Other guests seemed to have enjoyed their visit. Would like to have stayed longer and would definitely use again. Would make an ideal base for touring in the area, only a short walk to lake ferry stop.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Restaurant gut, Service ebenso. Sehr nettes, freundliches Personal.
- Seniors (8/5): In the center of town - Because this small older hotel does not have an elevator, we requested a room on a lower floor. Our room was on the third floor. Room was nice and breakfast was good.
Despite the third floor room, we would come here again.
- EM (6/5): Totally OK for price - I would stay here again, though I would ask for a room not on the street side, because it's noisy day and night.
- Frances (8/5): Convenience of hotel location - Hotel location and good service.
- Verified traveler (8/5): We would go back. - Only complaint would be there was no window, but there was a skylight that opened. Staff was very helpful, Nice restaurant. Great location, one block from the lake.
- beth (10/5): Great location, nice hotel, ALL GOOD! - Albergo Ristorante Giordino was wonderful. located in a charming smaller town next to Lake Como, and very close to Como City itself. the hotel is really lovely, excellent price for the value, our room was clean and spacious and we too were pleasantly surprised that we received the room with the private terrace facing the mountains. great for us as it was at the back of the hotel away from the street, providing a more quiet stay. wifi worked seamlessly. dinner in the restaurant (we had pizza) was delicious, and breakfast was fine. really nice staff. all good!
- Vern (8/5): Appealing hotel at moderate rates - The hotel is an appealing option at a great village in one of the most beautiful areas of Italy. The hotel has a very attractive restaurant in a beautiful garden. My room was good, but a little bit too exposed to the main street.
- Marjon (8/5): short walking distance to the lake of Como - We did not know what to expect as there were no previous reviews. After a drive of 900 km we really enjoyed the nice convenient location of the hotel. We first went in to the wrong place; there seem to be several Albergo's in the area. The other Albergo was also a restaurant with hotel facilities and was more at the entrance of the village. We found our hotel simple but cozy. The room and bathroom were not big but ok for 1 night. The staff was friendly and helpful. It was only a few minutes walk from the beautiful lake and nice restaurants around the lake.
