- Claire (9/5): - First impression...warmth. and space. We had the family room. Beautiful bathroom. Really lovely. Lots of very hot water. Towels were good. Super bed. Big bedside lamps. Good blackout curtains. Space. Light. Sofas. ...all positive. Nice big wardrobe with lots of hangers. Tea & coffee. Complimentary nightcap. Easy parking Lovely staff. Very comfy, spacious room. Breakfast ok.. Charming server . Nothing much. Bathroom fafan is very loud. No coffee table (nowhere to put our drinks when on the sofa). Net curtains had mould on them, but seemed like old mould if that makes sense, they looked otherwise clean and fresh. Breakfast only TVok.

- Richard (9/5): Comfy, homely, luxurious rooms in a great location for getting close to nature - Great location. Big room. Dog friendly. Nice food Bathroom needs some maintenance to toilet flush, sink and bath plugs, toilet roll holder and toilet brush. All pretty minor. Decor was fine though.

- Henri (9/5): pleasant stay - I assume it is a Victorian building and although it shows its age, it has been sympathetically renovated to a good standard. The radiator in the room was not appropriately placed as it is just under the television and in front of the writing desk which can be uncomfortable and overheating the TV. It's only an observation but not a criticism. The night cap of whisky or port was a nice touch.
- Mandella (8/5): This is a lovely country inn with some hospitable touches. - The room was pleasant and clean. There was a lovely selection of tea and coffee and some unexpected surprises. The bar carried a good selection of beers, wines and spirits. The bathroom was a little small for a walk in shower, so everything got wet. The bathroom mirror was too low. The room was dimly lit.
- Sarah (9/5): Charming old Inn - Beautiful old building filled with charming features. Great location for exploring Dartmoor and the Devon/Cornwall borders. The staff are friendly and helpful. The food is great quality and they offer an interesting menu. The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable. Great value for money. We would recommend and will certainly stay again. Unfortunately the TV could only provide one watchable chanel. The WiFi connection was poor in our room. We couldn't get onto netflix or youtube. It was a minor annoyance but if we were staying longer I would have found it frustrating. The fan in the bathroom didn't work and the towel rail was painfully hot to the touch.

The food was exceptional, great menu consisting of really nice traditional pub style food done really well. Lovely friendly staff, comfortable beds and a great location... just what we wanted for a great night away.

- emmyd (8/5): Simple, comfortable and practical with little luxury touches. - Great family room - triple bunk beds. Excellent use of space. Clean with some upmarket touches. Great to be able to take the dog and have her with us for breakfast and dinner. Food was really good. Fresh milk always appreciated and the self service night-cap tipples were a lovely touch. All in all a well packaged experience, making a short stay feel like a little bit of luxury. Thanks All! Bit more information before we arrived would have been helpful but turned out not to be necessary.

- Hedley (3/5): mixed - not sure i'd stay again, but I'd go for the pub and food. - location, comfortable bed, sheets and towels complementary nightcap, coffee and biscuits in the room, bar and resturant area are lovely. we arrived at 9.30 and the barman was ok, but clearly more concerned with closing the bar at 10pm, we had driven 6 hours - and chose to stay on the way because it said online closed at 11. The room had a massive crack in the ceiling and mould around the bathroom window, but decor was nice enough and the TV worked. Doors and walls on way up to room were dirty - but they take dogs and walkers so it may that's the vibe. Service overall was a little off - people didnt really want to look after us as guests - we felt a bit in the way. The breakfast cost £35 for 2 on top of the room, which was a bit steep for scrambled eggs on toast and a basic veggie breakfast. overall a mixed bag. Resturant meals clearly where the business is really focussed - nice layout and vibes in pub area - would be easy to spend a day in there.

- john (1/5): Robbed - Because I was early I was asked for cash to avoid an early check-in fee, which I paid, unfortunately I did not get a receipt and a second charge was also made on my credit card, I paid twice, the Burrater Inn and booking.com would not arrange a refund. Also there was no TV and no toilet paper in the room.

- Lynn (10/5): Most enjoyable, would return without hesitation. - Good location for Dartmoor and surrounding area. The room was a very good size and comfortable with a nice bathroom. A nice touch was milk in a fridge on the landing for tea and coffee in your room (instead of UHT milk in the little pots that squirt everywhere when you open them). Also, a night cap if required. The Inn itself had nice seating areas and plenty of room in both bar and restaurant. Board games/cards are provided for rainy days. Our stay was on a Sunday and we enjoyed an excellent roast. There was also a good menu to choose from if that wasn’t your thing. The breakfast menu was great too and very enjoyable. We had a lovely stay and would certainly do so again if we were in the area. The inn is very dog friendly, with a dog/cycle wash in the car park if required. Overall, a very enjoyable stay and our expectations were exceeded, thank you.

- john (9/5): Stayed here before and shall return . - Location perfect for us .This stay was for a naval passing out parade at hm s Raleigh , however also perfect for enjoying Dartmoor and also the nearby reservoir . Ideal for a summer trip . Bar is good with friendly staff and locals. Evening menu was fairly limited but We were all very happy with choices and quality of food . The breakfast menu was a thing of beauty , the full English was worth getting out of bed for! Rooms spacious enough, not flashy but very cosy . Our bed was so comfortable and large enough for me at 6'5'' plus wife . On the landing were decanters of whisky and sherry for a nightcap. Nice touch although we didn't partake . Parking very good Just a couple of potential hazards , firstly in the main bar there are two tables in an alcove , there is a fairly high step leading in from the bar . I think going back into the bar could be a hazard especially for a fool like me with a few pints inside of me , forgot the step and stumbled down , almost fell could have been nasty but as I said I maybe am just daft . Also up stairs there is a banister rail that is coming away from the wall and if depending on a bit of support walking upstairs could cause problems . Small observations and made no difference to our lovely stay
- Frances (9/5): Excellent value for money. - I was brought up in the area and regularly return to spemd time with friends and a family member. I got the room on an offer and it was excellent value, with a big comfortable room and bathroom. The breakfasts were excellent - eggs cooked to prefection. There were a couple of tiny spaces in the room and bathroom which were a bit dusty - but that dodn't bother me. Neither did it bother me that the hallway was a bit drafty/chilly.

Lovely additional touches to make the stay even more enjoyable - loved the night cap option! Breakfast was amazing in the lovely restaurant and evening meal was delicious. All round a great place to stay for our special anniversary, especially to explore the beautiful moor as well. There was a small leak in the bathroom sink pipe and single glazed windows were very damp in the morning, but it really didn't affect our lovely stay.

- ROGER (10/5): Lovely stay and the staff were exceptional. - The choices for breakfast were good and the food was excellent. Do not eat as much as I used to but the cook provided extra as he did not want us to be hungry. Cannot praise this attitude enough and the service provided was second to none. There was nothing that we did not like at the Burrator Inn and would not only stay here again but recommend it to friends.

Whilst not exactly something I didn’t like, it would have been handy to know they had EV charging stations available for guests. I found out when I was checking out which was a little annoying.

- Janine Bailey (7/5): Nice accommodation and venue but could be amazing with a bit of TLC. - Location, size of room, toiletries, kettle, USB sockets. Milk fridge on landing and night caps. Very dog friendly and dog wash is a genius addition - we may return with the dog. Shower over bath. Old fashioned tap to shower head style with wobbly fixing for shower head - resulting in a flood whenever it was used. Minor things than need sorting. Only one bedside lamp instead of two, leg fell off sofa, hook missing from behind bathroom door.

There really wasn’t anything to dislike! The only thing that I can say is how at breakfast, the staff were quite loudly complaining about some minor building work that they are currently having around the side door. Perhaps a conversation to have a little more discreetly and without the swearing 🤫

- Benno (9/5): für diese ecke des dartmoor; immer wieder gerne! - das burrtator inn ist nicht nur als ausgangspunkt für moorwandwanderung super gelegen. auch mit dem bike gibt es hier zahlreiche möglichkeiten. zudem bietet dieses local-pup auch feine mahlzeiten, schöne und grosse zimmer, ein helles bad mit grossem fenster, genügend parkplätze und auch eine waschstation für dogs und biks :) nichts

- Bruce (1/5): An overpriced disaster...avoid at all costs...stay somewhere else - Location only. Stayed for a family wedding elsewhere Check in was a disaster. We stood around at the bar with our suitcases and wedding apparel for at least 10 minutes before any of the staff decided to greet us and check us in. Room 2 stank of fish. The only window in the bedroom ( which could not be closed because there was no handle on it) overlooked the roof on the kitchen and the kitchen extractors vented directly into the room making the air in the room unhygienic. The don't disturb notice was tatty and stained The plaster on the celing of the bedroom was cracked and falling off. The paint on the bedroom wall was stained with filth.The bathoom had mould around the window and on the shower screen. The toilet was filthy. Toilet roll holder was falling off the wall Breakfast was requested at 08:30 ( as per hotel protocol) on the day of departure because we needed an early start to get away, yet there was nobody present when we arrived. Despite our order being put in the day before, we were only served at 08:45. Staff was young and poorly trained ( and not interested in serving!)
