Guest Reviews
- Kaimoon (2/5): - This hotel is not even accepted by Expedia. They took my money and left me on the street at 1:00 at night in a dangerous area. They said they don’t use Expedia anymore but somehow they are listed on Expedia. DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL. It had another name and you won’t even be able to find it. It’s actually an adult hotel with extremely rude staff. They wouldn’t even let me book a room, after they scammed me. I want a refund!
- Francis (4/5): - The room was small and cold with no heating.
Window with no view.
But staff (probably husband and wife) were friendly and helpful.
- Paul (10/5): - Great place to stay and give your money to locals instead of corporations!
Amazing hospitality and people, and communication was great leading into stay!
They also helped us out greatly with local taxi .
Overall great place to stay that is safe.
- Luis (10/5): - Me senti muy comodo .
- Luis (10/5): - Cool
- Luis (10/5): - La recomiendo es bueno el hotel.
- Ernesto (6/5): - alright for a short stay
- Sarah (8/5): - I liked the location and the king size bed in the Suite room was very comfortable. I didn't like having to wait for the door to be opened to us every time we wanted back in and I thought it was a little strange that we had to leave our room keys behind every time we stepped out. We had a Suite room with a mini fridge and cupboards but there was nothing in those cupboards, no glasses or utensils. We could have borrowed some from the common room in the lobby but nothing was in the room. We only stayed for two nights so it wasn't a big deal. The comfort of the bed made up for it all.
- Remi (4/5): - It's a sex hotel. Not very clean, but the manager of the place was nice.
- Maglio (6/5): Disappointed - I couldn't sleep well there is a roaster in the back of the hotel and you can hear him everyday at 5am, they got problems with the tv cable so i couldnt watch tv ,on my last day some people look like have a party , also the rooms are not sound prove
- Mohammed (4/5): Inconsiderate - It was ok but I think there are better options. Also, they gave us a room in front of the receptionist desk and were socializing loud late at night. I asked them to quiet down as it was late and it made no difference. This was on top of hearing the door bell and street traffic.
- HUA (4/5): - Like - the price is great and the staff are warm and friendly.
Dislike - we booked this place to rest for a few hours before our late night flight. We were given Room #1 and now I understood prior reviews on Expedia about this room. It was really noisy - we could hear the staff talking and laughing, anyone going into and leaving the hotel, and cars/motorcycles start outside.... And the noise was non-stop. We couldn't rest at all. I don't think it's wise (or border line ethical) to use Room #1 as a guest room because of the non-stop noises.
Other parts of the hotel look fine. My review is only for Room #1
- Robert (8/5): For the price it was OK. - Very friendly staff though they DO NOT speak English. They did not answer my texts or emails. It is a Hotel/Hostel. The only way to get in is you have to ring a buzzer and be buzzed in. The gate is ALWAYS locked. I was greeted by a young man we definitely did not understand me and had to call his mother to come check me in. If you do book this hotel do NOT let them put you in room number 1
You will hear everybody walking up to the hotel and then all night long you hear the buzzer for the door. The check in desk is literally right under the interior bathroom window! I had to close the bathroom door to try to muffle the sound but it really didn't work. Not only that, you can hear the family talk as if they are in your room. I could hear every single person check out and then hear them walk down the hallway and out the door all morning long. The room was comfortable and clean as was the bathroom, but the room has no Heat or Air con! Thank goodness I found a blanket in the closet! Would I stay again? NO. If I had a different room maybe the answer would be different. But the owners are very nice.
- Caroline (4/5): - Rooms did not appear like the pictures online. Checking in was a hastle, they said they didnt have my reservation even though they confirmed in email and even messaged offering transportation from the airport. Once checked in they gave us the wrong room and when we were set up to work they made us pack everything up and change to a different room. Once finally working the wifi was terrible and cut out frequently. The woman at the desk did try to help and let me use a different area of the building but the wifi was still bad. In the new room they switched us in to there was urine on the toilet seat. Loud guests, you can hear everything going on through the hallway. We were under the impression this was a bed and breakfast. But this is a Hostel. We feel as if we were "catfished" with this property. It was such a hastle checking in especially since the person there only spoke spanish (they advertise as speaking english and other languages as well as Spanish) that we didnt bother asking for a refund. We ended up buying another hotel to stay in for the next 7 days after we stayed there the first night.
- Eligible (10/5): - Personnel were very pleasant.
- Jorge (4/5): - Room not what it looks like. When a hotel has no pictures of the exterior I should know better to stay away.
It’s not a hotel. It’s a house converted into a “hotel”.
Bad experience.
- Colby (8/5): - We stayed two nights but barely spent time besides sleeping due to late night arrival and early departure. Not too far from Plaza Des Armes and two blocks from the Larco Museum where we went for late visit and dinner. So the hotel was perfect for that packed day. The driver they put us in contact with for airport transport was excellent and someone was there to check us in at 2am no issues.
- ERIKA (6/5): - Close to Museo Larco Herrera and main avenue.
- Joe&Goretti (10/5): - Great location. Very clean. Peiter was terrific host and had great recommendations. Large spacious rooms. The beds were the best ever. Nice simple breakfast. Really enjoyed our stay.
- Ayanna (8/5): - Great stay for a solo traveler. Peter was absolutely the best host. Great authentic Peruvian restaurants near by. Location is good for short stays near the airport.
- AllyB (10/5): - We stayed here as we had a late flight in to Peru. We arrived after check in hours- midnight and there was someone there to let us in. You have to notify the hotel prior to arrival so they can accommodate any late arrivals. The room was Clean- very clean. The room was perfect for the night and the bed was very comfortable. This isn’t a luxurious hotel so if that’s what you’re looking for this isn’t it. But it is clean comfortable and accommodating. The owner, Peter was VERY helpful- giving us the inside perspective of the culture and how to maneuver through the city. Even was able to set up a ride from the airport for an additional fee and called out Uber. The property was what we needed to get our trip started. Thank you Peter !
- Verified traveler (8/5): - THE most comfortable bed I slept in in Peru. Within easy walking distance of Museo Larco and only 20 mins for the airport. Reasonable selection of restaurants within easy walking distance. Hospitable host.
- Sarah (10/5): We had a great 1 night stay! - We had a flying visit here literally. The owner Peter arranged to have his driver collect us at the airport at 10.30pm, which was great. He dropped usto the guest house showed us our room. All super. The next morning Peter had the driver there and an early breakfast for us @7.15am without us having to ask
This was great. It's about 20 mins from the airport.
- Elizabeth (2/5): - We booked this hotel because we needed to get out of a disgusting hotel fast. UNFORTUNATELY, we had no service to call and booked using wifi. When we got there.... This site DID NOT open the door and their call button did NOT even work. We knocked and nobody came out or bothered looking out the window. They charged my boyfriend’s card anyway so we were down 70 bucks. Don’t understand why they couldn't just turn down the reservation before we got there so we didn’t have to waste time. Would not recommend.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The bedding and room were very clean, but the bathrooms could use some work. Peter was a great host and was very accommodating. Fernando, our driver was very helpful and always on time. Thank you for making our trip a great one!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Manager was extremely helpful in arranging pickup at our seaport arrival, driver and tour guide for the day and our eventual departure at the airport. All was seamless.
- Lidia (6/5): Good - A little hot for us. Beside that e everything good
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location near multiple museums and a very nice part of Lima. All ameneties were very good.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very nice and helpful owner, clean room, comfortable bed, safe area. Highly recommend!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Peter and the hotel staff are very nice. It is located in a safe and a good area of Pueblo Libre. Close to museo and Catholica University. My room was nice and well furnished, but the bathroom was a completely different story - very small, not much water comes through the shower, and the shower curtain smells bad. Very low powered lights makes the room and especially the bathroom dark.
Note that Pueblo Libre is somewhat of a middle class area, but it is closer to the airport. If one is looking for a Eurpean/American style accommodations, Miraflores area is the neighborhood to look for.
- Jason (10/5): Enjoyed my stay - Bed was super comfortable. The manager (Peter) speaks both English and Spanish and is very friendly. Nice breakfast. I would stay here again when in Lima.
- Devony (10/5): - We'd been working/travelling in Lima for a multiple weeks, and had late at night (mine 23:45, husbands 02:00) long flights home. Rather than book another night at a large chain hotel (crappy and in Miraflores), we took a chance and reserved at Aika. WELL worth it. Just needed some quiet time and a shower, and got more than we expected. Fabulous host, great neighbourhood, extremely clean, quiet and safe, arranged a fabulous airport transfer from their driver. We'll stay here again the second we are back in Lima on holiday. Thanks, Peter!
- Adnan (10/5): - It's located in a quiet and safe area. Nice place to stay if you're traveling to lime
- Brooks (10/5): - Fantastic room. Peter the manager was incredibly accomodating and friendly. Would recommend to anyone and absolutely stay again.
- Vincent (10/5): - The property was very quiet and near a beautiful park and bakery. The manager and staff went out of their way to help me get around Lima. They went out of their way to make my stay outstanding. The shower was huge and the water was “hot”. The breakfast was fantastic!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - A nice intro to the city. We were picked up by Fernando and given info to local attractions by Peter. A bit pricey for the amenities, but a solid place to stay!
- Lindsay (8/5): Casa Aika - Casa Aika is a great hotel, local to many parks and museums. It seems a bit away from the airport but once you're in the neighborhood, you realize how much there is to see and do. We especially liked getting lost and ending up at Museo Larco for an amazing tour and dinner. It's easy to get twisted around to be sure to orient yourself to where you want to go!
- James (10/5): One night in Lima - Only stayed one night... Had a stopover in Lima. The place was immaculate, bed was super comfy, overall a phenomenal experience. Peter, the owner, cares so much about this property and the guests that come in and out. Really a great guy and a pleasure to talk to. Will definitely stay if/when I visit Lima again.
- James (10/5): Excellent choice for a stay in Lima - Casa Aika is a place of pride for its owner. Pieter, its Dutch owner, is fluent in English and Spanish, and is devoted to making his property a great place to stay in Lima. Everything was very clean and comfortable. Our host was very friendly and helpful, assisting us with transportation and information. A bar and breakfast area are available on the first floor. There are a number of restaurants in the area, including a KFC to Origen, a wonderful coffee house with offerings like Quiche or Souffle, a delicious layer cake with whipped cream and fresh fruit. The highly regarded Larco Museum is less than a 10 minute walk away, and the National Museum Of Archaeology, Anrhropology and History is about a 20 minute walk. We felt safe and secure in the area and recommend that you stay here while visiting Lima..
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The owner was AMAZING. He was very accommodating to our late night arrivals and a constant need for a taxi. His drivers and security staff were wonderful and friendly. The room was comfortable, clean, and very modern. I would absolutely stay here whenever I am in Lima.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Casa Aika, great B&B near airport & Museo Larco! - Peter, the host, is personable and aims to make your stay perfect! He set up airport transfers to and from the airport, which was so nice because when you land in Lima, hundreds of taxi drivers descend on you and it was nice to see my name on a board and go with that driver! The room was very comfortable. The hotel is about 2 blocks from Museo Larco, which I’d highly recommend! The local area doesn’t have much else to see, but it is closer to the airport than most places and it’s a safe neighborhood with good restaurants.
- Anonymous (8/5): Safe, clean hotel. - The owner, Peter, was very helpful and pleasant to meet. Knowledgeable about the surrounding area.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very accommodating. Would book again next time I am in Lima
- Barbara (10/5): Best hotel in the neighborhood for the price - Peter was awesome, friendly, fun. He even accommodated our suitcases while we spent 3 days in Machupichu. Would absolutely stay here again!
- roy (8/5): Nice location with nice staff here - Enjoy the stay here cause I have had a very good rest , meanwhile the staff here is so welcome and nice. This is a nice safe and cozy place to find in Lima.
- Zafar (10/5): - The owner is a very nice, helpful and friendly guy. I read in other reviews some people complaining about the hot water. I didn't find any such issue. I picked this hotel because of its proximity to the Larco Museum.
- Christina (4/5): - This hotel does not have a sign, it is a converted house. I arrived and the gate was locked. The woman who came to the gate said that they were not expecting me. She would not let me in, my cab driver and I just looked at each other. I handed her my itinerary through the gate hole and she made a phone call. My cab driver asked if he could drop off my luggage and myself and she said no. This lasted a good 10 minutes and then once I got in I had to wait another 5-10 minutes for the host to arrive. He couldn't figure out my name on my passport and said " I can never tell with Chinese names"... I am not Chinese and when I said that he just ignored my comment. He also rounded the cost of my stay on my credit card which was only a few cents, but it would have been nice if he said he was going to do it. My room was on the first floor. The bathroom is right next to the lobby and I could hear every conversation had in the lobby. I was also rudely awakened when a driver taking another occupant banged on my door at 4:30 in the morning. The car is also right outside my window and the owner and the driver were talking really loud. I will have to say that the bed is super comfortable and the TV was nice, but that is about it. It is close to the airport and Larco museum and that is it. It is not in the best part of town either. I met some locals who were surprised I was staying in that part of town.
- Beau (10/5): IfIf you go to Lima, this is the place to stay - Peter was an amazing host the house is extremely clean he was very attentive to detail and the staff was excellent at accommodating my needs!!! If you go to Peru this is the place to stay!!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great Owner - Owners are very helpful and friendly. Arranged pickup to and from airport. Very helpful in recommending restaurants.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Museo Larco - must see in Lima - is short walk - Peter is an enthusiastic and helpful host.
- Humberto (6/5): - very good service
Good staff attention
Good furniture
Excellent cleaning conditions
- Elizabeth (6/5): - in the morning our hot water broke but the staff let us use another suite. Breakfast was nice. Was pretty close to the airport ad it was easy to get a taxi.
- Dante (10/5): good and satisfactory - The manager was very attentive to our requirements and very friendly.
- Carl (10/5): Nice Hotel in the middle of town - We stayed 3 nights here, my wife arrived super early, and was given complimentary early check in. I left super late and was given complimentary late checkout (9 pm). So the owner Peter was willing to accommodate, order taxis that were very good, and same price as the run down old taxis you get from Green Taxi for airport transit. Location is close to Museo Larco which is a great place, with a great restaurant and the Natural History Museum, we walked to both. It's also located equaly far from the MainSquare in central Lima and Miraflores and Baranco, thogh it takes a while to Taxi to either location. The hotel is super clean, and could use a woman's touch to liven it up a bit. Otherwise a great stay, and super comfy memory foam beds...
- Konstantin (8/5): Very good - If you stay in Lima a couple of days or so, this would be probably the best solution. Located in a historical center of Lima, it is safe and for good price.
Peter does the best he can, very friendly, it was very nice to talk to him.
Senora Megdalena knows almost everything about peruvian food, Lima and Peru.
- Nathan (8/5): Excellent Overachieving B&B! - Excellent and personable hospitality defines this little B&B. The manager is a very friendly ex-pat who understands what it's like to be in Peru. Very helpful and very nice gentleman. The rooms are very clean and the bed, bedding and towels are top notch. Some very small details like a soap holder in the shower still need to be added but the overall quality of the accommodations far exceeds the price point. WiFi is strong in every part of the building. Breakfast is excellent too. Will be my first choice for accommodation when I return next month.
- Jesus (6/5): n/a - nice hotel but there is no customer service desk , no bar no lounge space , no tv, overall, for one night, i wasn't that bad
- walker (2/5): Not as good as it looks - It is still in process of building work and not a great service. No dinning room, so very poor breakfast in the room. The owner seemed nice but cheated on a taxi bill, so cancelled two more days of stay
- Patricia (8/5): Comfortable, Clean, Safe Room near Larco Museum - Had a three day layover in Lima en route to Machu Picchu. Could not have picked a more convenient spot for my needs. It is only 4 miles to the airport and the hotel offers a pickup service for $20 American. Best of all, it is only a few blocks from the Larco Museum, a must see for the history of Peruvian culture. Simple breakfast is brought to your room daily and a wonderful coffee house 2 blocks away if a latte or French press is a must for you.
Also close to farmacias, a mercado, banks for money exchange and restaurants. The hotel is very clean and upgraded regularly. Some rooms were painted while I was there. This is a B&B, so no hotel lobby, but Peter was available whenever I needed him and was friendly and helpful in all regards, as was all the staff.
I went to the Centro one day to visit the SF Monastery and Catacombs and have lunch and it was 15 Soles each way.
If you are looking for a comfortable, clean, safe room, I recommend Casa Aika.
- Calina (8/5): Comfortable for One Night Stay - Reasonable Price - Casa Aika is a very basic bed and breakfast with minimal amenities but good for a one night stay in Lima before taking off to Cusco really early the next morning. The B&B is in a safe neighborhood about 5 min walking distance to Larco Museum and a less than 10 min ride from the airport. For $20, they can arrange a taxi driver from the airport using one of their drivers who was really nice.
We stayed in their king room that had a nice comfy bed, a window that opens into the street, a mini fridge, and a nice bathroom. Again, there is no toiletries provided by the B&B. We went to Lima during the rainy season but it was still hot in Lima. There is no air conditioning in this B&B but there was a manual fan. However, for us, it was still hot during the evening. Good wi-fi! Peter, the owner, was really nice and gave us a few recommendation for places nearby to eat. There is a delicious coffee shop within walking distance. He also bagged us some breakfast since we had a 6:50 am flight out the next day. Before we left real early, Peter met us to make sure we were set. Great hospitality and good for a one night stay.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice, but... - Peter, the owner was exceptionally friendly. My room was small, downstairs, and offered no real natural light or air circulation. Rooms upstairs looked considerably nicer. Breakfast was good, served in one's room. Also, the neighborhood seemed to quite safe and clean. But the main drawbacks were that the hotel is not near anything, except a few local restaurants. Price was the main complaint. There are a few hostels within two blocks with much more reasonable rates. This is not Mira Flores!
- Sherie Amor (10/5): Great Stay, rooms, internet, breakfast all efficient - Peter is amazing and so dedicated to this staff, when the taxi driver was not sure where to take me with directions, Peter took time out of his day to get in the taxi with me to make sure I got to where I needed to be. Very Organized & Smart, of Course being European you will not have to worry about communication problems as such normally experienced, after seeing I was here with work, he moved me to another room which more suitable for business task. He understands the headaches one goes threw after being here for a long time and is excellent in trying to head that
off and help the problem your having.
- Terry (8/5): Pleasant stay in Pueblo Libre, Lima. - This basic yet lovely B&B is located in the Pueblo Libre district of Lima, very close to the Larco Museum. The room is basic, but clean and comfortable. We felt very safe. There are not any amenities such shampoo or hair dryer, but for the price that is okay. We did receive a yummy breakfast in our room - hard to beat the service!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Ok Hostal,a little bit overpriced - When you are ready to pay be aware of the extra % from the total room price if you pay with a credit card, by the way they have a MasterCard sticker but they did not accepted it.
- Melinda (8/5): Good b&b not too far from the airport - This accommodation is not a hotel, but rather a bed and breakfast. There was no sign out the front which was a little alarming to begin with. I wasn't sure if I was in the right place. The owner came to meet me and check me in. Quite friendly. There was a problem with the wifi at 1am and he came back to fix it no problems at all. I would of liked to have some amenities at this accommodation. Shampoo and conditioner would of been nice. Overall the bedroom was nicely set up and the bed was comfortable.
- Amanda (10/5): Couldn't be happier - Peter was an amazing host. He is more than happy to show up any moment you need him. They arranged a taxi to pick us up and take us back to the airport as well as sent a picture of the cab driver we should be looking for. Peter gave us many suggestions of where to go to eat or play and walked us to our room to make sure we had everything we needed. Just one example of his attention to detail, when he walked us to the room, he saw the blanket on our bed and mentioned that it should be facing the other way so the fibers could lay correctly. The cleaning lady was very accommodating as well, although she didn't speak any English. Breakfast is delivered to your room at a time you specify on the night of your arrival and consists of delicious bread, freshly squeezed juice, coffee and tea. The surrounding neighborhood is very safe and has lots of delicious, cheep food. There is also a very interesting museum about Peru very nearby. Worth every penny.
- Matthews (8/5): Overnite in Lima - Casa Aiku is a close overnite to airport when staying in Lima. You can not beat the service offered by Peter at this hotel. I would not hesitate to return here again. Thanks again Peter.
- Maux (10/5): - Peter was such a help. Proximity to airport a lifesaver. Will definitely stay again.
- pjvrey (8/5): Basic but adequate - Casa Aika is a very basic B&B with small rooms and a limited breakfast but the service was friendly, helpful and efficient and we enjoyed the one night we stayed here.
- yahoo.com.au (10/5): well satisfied with services, the owner was ready - good value for money, quality of service by owner excellent, he was available any time
- email (10/5): the best was the service provided by the staff - very enjoyable and amicable
- Verified traveler (8/5): It is good a prod for a price - The staff is by-lingual and very welcoming. new building with clean rooms and modern rooms.
- Ann (6/5): Very nice, modest hotel. - This hotel is a family-run business. It is very nice and modest. The proprietor arranged for a taxi to pick me up at the airport and to drop me off, for a reasonable fee. He also sent me a photo of the taxi driver so I would know whom to look for. I arrived late at night and had to leave early in the morning, and his arrangements re: transportation worked out perfectly. The room was simple, but quite comfortable and very clean. Although I had to leave quite early, the proprietor brought up hot water with coffee and tea samples. Also, there was wifi in the room. The whole experience, short though it was, was very pleasant.
- ed (6/5): - Nice people; helpful and attentive. Room basic but clean. The bottom room maybe it was a converted garage...OK but cold and could use a courtain at the door. Do not know about other rooms. Surrounding neighborhood not all that but pretty close to a couple of neat museums (larcon and antropologico). If you are arriving late I advice you make arrangements to meet outside otherwise you will be stuck waiting until the security guy calls the owner.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Perfect for airport stop over - Nice place. Transfer service good and relatively priced. Rooms new, tcomfortable and clean. Its not actually that far out of the city centre. Yeah perfect for a stop over.
