Guest Reviews
- Arlin (10/5): - Love the breakfast, the cava, the room, the views, it was the most perfrct getaway for me and my husband. We really enjoyed our time there.
- Carolina (10/5): - Excellent Hotel!
- Sabrina (10/5): - Lovely property
- Lynn (10/5): - Everything about it was unique!
- jason (6/5): - For the money it is per night I really don’t get it. Yes it’s a quirky building but there is literally nothing to do around it and we weren’t allowed to enter the dining room unless we wanted 8 courses. If you wanted a couple of courses the only way to eat is in your room. I certainly would never book again. Couldn’t fault the staff but I just don’t understand why it’s 400 quid a night.
- Kevin (10/5): - Cool architecture! Very, very accommodating staff. The food, both dinner and breakfast were excellent. We also did the winery tour (need to reserve in advance) which I'd highly recommend.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Eveeything was perfect! Beautiful hotel, great food especially breakfast. We will definitely come back.
- Christine (10/5): Modern oasis - We loved this hotel in "Cava country" in Catalonia Spain. The room, staff and view were amazing.
We took walks and drives into the countryside to the west of the hotel and found some cute vinyards.
There Cava at Msr tinell is great and their restaurant is amazing

There Cava at Msr tinell is great and there restaurant is amazing
- Volker (6/5): - Eco Hotel in nice landscape, but you can hear the race curcuit very loud.
The restaurant is far away from the expected 5*-standard.
Interior without any charge, food and presentation of food just average.
- Flávio (10/5): Excelente - Excelente o atendimento, o conforto e a alimentação
- Emma (10/5): 5 stars! - This was amazing from start to finish. 5 star service. The staff treated us amazing and the hotel was so romantic. If you are considering it for a special occasion absolutely go for it. They left us a bottle of cava and macaroons in our room! It’s only a 5 minute taxi from a train station and the train took 1 hr from Barcelona. We did the wine tour and Alex our tour guide was fantastic - I’ve done alot of tours before but this one was so gripping. 10/10 from start to finish. The food at dinner and breakfast was delicious.
- Stuart (10/5): - Staff were fantastic. Welcomed by josep when we arrived with a glass of cava.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Not a warm, welcoming place. - Found this hotel to be way too quiet and not very interested in ensuring guests have an entertaining stay.
Some details were wonderful, but often felt like we were all alone. If we wanted a drink at the pool, we had to come find someone, and then once we got one drink, no one followed up. I felt bad asking for anything.
There was one woman at the front desk that was friendly and helpful, but even she didn’t have any recommendations for things to do in the area when we asked.
We couldn’t event do a wine tasting here, on a winery.
Beautiful space but would not recommend because the warmth in the service was lacking.
- Alessandra (10/5): - Excellent building, fantastic breakfast
- oscar (10/5): - Amazing and spectacular place. The rooms are very romantic and comfortable. The service is very personal and welcoming. High regards to Andrea, Carla, and Luis for making us feel at home. Did the wine and cava tour with Nico, that introduced me to a great cava to take back home. Can't wait to come back.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Amazing property. Outstanding service. The amenities and the rooms of the hotel are incredible. You must stay here on your way to Barcelona
- Anna (10/5): - Great experience!
- Louise (10/5): - The Architecture is really interesting, the wine tour made me look at Cava in a whole new way and the breakfast is excellent and substantial after a busy evening drinking wine! The pool is a lovely extra touch.
- stephen (8/5): Hidden gem - Fabulous hotel and the service was excellent
Good tour of the cellar and evening meal superb
Excellent value
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful quiet property with charming well thought out rooms, great client attention, super interesting wine tour and wonderful dining experience.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - A very unique property set among a combination of vineyards and at a distance industrial complexes. The design of the building is extraordinary. We chose a large suite that was very well appointed. A few constructive comments are; the room lacks lighting at night, the only pillows available are foam non allergenic and the one sitting space the sofa is curved and not very comfortable. That said, the staff in particular Carla is outstanding, friendly and helpful. The Proprty is quiet, the parking is easy. The caves and Cava production are on site. A good stay.
- Montse (10/5): Mas Tinell a great place for a relaxing weekend - The stay was fantastic. Everybody extremely friendly and helpful. The massage was great
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This hotel is amazing! I wish our stay was longer. I highly recommend eating dinner in their restaurant as well as doing the Cava tour onsite. This hotel will not disappoint!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Amazing service, room was a incredible, wound recommend to anyone. Also recommend the Cava tour.
- david (10/5): Countryside Paradise - I loved this hotel, it is the perfect blend of sophistication and relaxed atmosphere. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The hotel is clean as a whistle and has a small but very comfortable swimming pool. The hotel also has a great hiking trail that will take you in the vineyards and the top of a summet with fantastic views. The hotel is within walking distance of a village town, perfect for afternoon espresso or glass of wine/cava. I recommend L'Angelus Bar a Vin in town(Vilafranca del Penedes). This is a new bar and they have a completely committed staff to organic wines and farm to table tapas. You can sit outside in the square and the shadow of a beautiful church. I also recommend Torres winery just down the road from this hotel. It has beautiful architecture and one of the best wine tours I have ever taken. I strongly recommend the five wine tour and a taxi:). Enjoy!
- Randy (10/5): - Hotel Mastinell was a very nice property, located in a quiet area just outside of Villafranca del Penedes, within walking distance of the town. Has access to some nice walking trails as well. Located very close to other wineries if you wish to visit. Restaurant food and wines were very good and the staff had plenty of recommendations for other restaurants and or tours. We visited in May so it was cooler and rainy some days and the pool area was not open.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff provides a true luxury experience and the property delivers as well. The building itself is exquisite - the rooms are divine. For the bathtub alone, I would recommend this facility. We dined in the restaurant and were equally as pleased. A lovely hotel!
- Shawn (10/5): LOVE, LOVE, LOVE... - This is an absolutely must try when in the Penèdes region. Cannot say enough about the place, the service, the area and the food and wine.
- Beverly (10/5): Boutique Gem in Cava country! - Had an amazing time at The Cava & Mastinell hotel. The design of the hotel was amazing. The food delicious and the Cava out of the world.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Cava Hotel - Excellent - This was our little treat of the holiday - and it was certainly a treat we felt like royalty for our two night stay. All the staff were attentive and polite. The rooms were quirky and comfortable. The food in the restaurant was very tasty and the little touches, like a morning chat with the hotel manager, made us feel very welcome
- Olivia (10/5): Cavas paradise! - Everything was just amazing! We where through of lot of cava tasting and tours, but Mastinells was the best!
- lance (10/5): Amazing - Amazing hotel, amazing grounds, amazing staff, and amazing restaurant.
Everyone was friendly helpful and knowledgeable.
Not to mention the 7 course gastronomic dinner was an amazing addition!
- Philip (10/5): Romantic Getaway - Beautiful, small boutique hotel in Penedes wine region. Welcoming, helpful staff took care of all of our needs. Had the good fortune to be in area during Taste Cava in neighboring town, but could have stayed in our suite during the entire 3 day stay! Property has a Cava and worth the tour offered. Close to Torres winery and other cavas and a short drive from Barcelona. Highly recommend.
- Thomas (10/5): Friendliest staff! - Beautiful hotel, VERY friendly and helpful staff.
- Kyle (10/5): Amazing hotel, great service, a gem outside of Bar - If you go to Penedes, stay here! The staff is amazing, the Cava tour is great, complimentary cava during your stay. We tried every type they had, and it was all on the house. Hotel is quiet, comfortable, and the breakfast is very good.
Best hotel in the area. Its shows that they want you to enjoy your stay, rather than trying to nickle-and-dime you on every little thing.
- Jana (10/5): Very cool hotel! - By far the BEST hotel we stayed in on our trip to Spain. Such a cool thoughtful design inside and out. The breakfast was great. The staff, especially the general manager Maebel, were wonderful. They were caring, attentive and professional.
We want to make this a destination and stay for a week next time.
- Erin (10/5): Wonderful stay at the Hotel Cava Mastinell - The Hotel Cava Mastinell exceeded our expectations. The staff were friendly and helpful and the setting beautiful and relaxing. We took the guided tour of the winery and learned about how cava is made. We also rented bikes from the hotel (complete with GPS systems) and biked through vineyards and olive groves to a castle. The restaurant was outstanding - 22 euro a person for a fantastic three course dinner paired with their delicious wines. Highly recommended.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Room facing main entrance and totally cannot open shade when dark for can be seen clearly what's doing in room from outside during evening and night time.
- Jen (10/5): Happy in Penedas - The nicest hotel we've stayed at in a very long time! The service was amazing, the GM greeted us at the door with a "welcome home" and a glass of Cava to enjoy during check-in.
The food in the restaurant for both dinner and breakfast were over the top good too.
We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area.
- Daniel (10/5): Wish we could stay forever! - Great place for a relaxing getaway. Beautiful, funky hotel. We had a great bike ride through the vineyards exploring.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Wonderful hotel. Take the tour of the winery, well worth it.
- Verified traveler (10/5): attention to detail in modern luxury - What a beautiful hotel! I only wish that I was there in the summer to see it all lush and green. We had a fabulous valentine's day stay at the hotel. We got to our room to find our bed and tub covered in rose petals and special treats (bottle of cava on ice, macaroons, chocolates) would magically appear every time we left the room! Make sure you eat at the En Rima restaurant downstairs - what a steal!!! great price for a fabulous meal. We were lucky enough to get a private cava tour (arrange ahead of time) and tasting and it was really interesting to see the more modern approach to cava making compared to the older sites we visited. The shower and tub was just wonderful! I wish we had more time to just relax and hang out there. Also breakfast the next morning was perfect! Everything plated and served was a nice change over the usually buffet with sneeze guard - make sure you try their fresh juices!
- Sharon (10/5): The treat of our trip! - Began our first trip to Spain at this stunning small hotel in Vilafranca. We doubt there's a more beautiful and comfortable hotel elsewhere! Only 12 rooms, but each has a Gaudi-inspired window looking out over the vineyards. The Mastinell cava and wines are exceptional and theres a complimentary bottle of the cava waiting chilled in your room. A wonderful breakfast awaits you each morning in their pretty restaurant. We had the chefs choice dinner one evening and it may be the best we've had in Spain. Its a short walk into town for tapas or other meals. The staff is uniformly great!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Better than five stars! - Amazing, exemplary service, even better than the Four Seasons. Great location.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent Location and Sleek Design - We stayed for 2 nights last month and the staff were fabulous, the room was fabulous, attention to detail fabulous the restaurant was excellent value and really pleasant. On the first night the restaurant was closed (Monday), and were had a picnic on the terrace with glasses and plates kindly supplied. Views over the vines and proximity to larger but not necessarily better cava houses perfect. The cava is very good and the staff faultless.
- mark (10/5): Architecturally beautiful...excellent cuisine - The service is exceptional, the room was super but to restaurant is a treasure.
- Rf (10/5): Spain - Amazing
- Pauline (10/5): 5 STAR - Excellent hotel with amazing service. The food was superb and amazing value for money. The dinner and breakfast courses went on and on.......... Beautiful rooms with spectacular views ideal location to your Penedes. We cannot wait to return.
- John (10/5): Great hotel! - We travelled with friends and booked this hotel for one night only. It would be nice to stay there for longer. It's a beautiful hotel, great design, very comfortable room and an excellent food (breakfast and dinner). Very interesting tour of cava making that increased our appreciation of cava.
- David (10/5): Possibly the nicest hotel I've ever stayed in - The Layout of the hotel and rooms were absolutely gorgeous. The land surrounding is also breathtaking. We had dinner here and it was probably the best meal I have ever eaten. The cooking is all done in front of you and it is very cool. The servers were friendly, the food was amazing. We also took the tour and it was a lot of fun. Their cava was delicious and the staff was very knowledgable about what each was and how it was made. It is an expensive hotel, but very worth the money. My wife and I stayed only night but we wished we could have stayed a few more. Can't say enough positive things about this place. Overall, quite simply one of the best hotel experiences I have ever had, if not the best. We will definitely go back
- Allison (10/5): Pure Luxury! - During our visit to Vilafranca del Penedes, we stayed at Hotel Mastinell. The newly opened hotel is absolutely beautiful. There are 12 spacious rooms, each looking out through a window resembling the bottom of a cava bottle with wonderful vineyard views. The hotel offers a cava tour and will help schedule other wine/cava tours in the area. The breakfast was delicious (not a buffet, but it has several courses) and the lunch was one of the best meals we had in Penedes.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Amazing room - How beautiful to wake up looking onto the vineyard. Staff incredibly friendly and helpful for the most part.
