- Man In Helena (8/5): Comfy room and nice beach setting - Spacious room, good sea view, very comfy bed gave me good sleep. Excellent location with the long beach just outside the hotel. Overall well maintained except a bit rusty around edge of show marble ground. My room is still clean a d good but my sister’s room got a big cockroach near the bathroom. Breakfast just so so because most food is not hot, and fresh enough with the heater or steamer to keep warm. Changing room facility a bit dated with the sauna and steamer not working properly.

- S8029TMshawnh (6/5): Fantastic Staff, Nice Property, Awful Beach - The GOOD: Management staff (hello, Carson!) were wonderful and super dedicated to making our stay pleasant; the property (pools, green space, etc.) is in relatively good shape; the "Ocean View" room was actually great - offered a fantastic view of the water and smelled nice and clean (no residual cigarette smell despite ash trays present in every room); consider springing for the suite - the extra space is worth the money; the golf course next door was very, very nice; tennis courts were available on the property. The AVERAGE: Only one buffet restaurant on or near the property and it was 80% local food; in-room dining is available but they were often sold out of the Western options; about three staff members could speak English - but they always made an effort to find an English speaker for us. The spa was fine but not great. The BAD: The beach is absolutely terrible - the hotel's "private" beach space is completely overwhelmed by non-hotel companies selling jetski rides, parasailing, and other water "adventures." There is no room on the bench to set a chair or towel because it's covered in these vendors' canopies... and they hassle you to buy something the minute you set foot on the sand. Further, the hotel recommends you stay OUT of the ocean because of these companies, which makes me think that swimmers are in danger from these "adventure companies" zooming back and forth along the coastline. The beach is a rotten experience that will make us think twice before returning.
- Veteranito (10/5): A nice short break - It’s a fabulous resort with all the facilities you need to chill or explore with your children for a short break. The room is spacious with a balcony to refresh and overlooks the long beach that is beautiful. The beach waves is a bit rough, so is not recommended but the outdoor pool (they have an indoor too) is just next to the beach so the breeze is great! Would suggest for a self drive for easy accessing the island’s restaurants and other places.

- EverlastingSong (10/5): Nice hotel with great facilities - Enjoyed my stay here. The hotel is very close to the beach and not too far from other scenic areas. It has two swimming pools and I do recommend the outdoor one if weather permits. The lobby provides stunning sea views, a perfect spot for photos. Breakfast includes lots of choices. The buffet is also as good. Membership recognition was effortless and I enjoyed all the benefits. Staff were friendly and helpful. I would like to thank Winnie from the front desk, for a smooth check in. All in all, this hotel provides great value and hospitality.

- Blabbott (10/5): Go off season for some royal treatment - We visited this hotel mid-November, long after the crowds had left the island, but the weather was still very pleasant. Most of the pools and hot tubs were closed (some due to a recent typhoon), but it was warm enough to swim. The service was absolutely fabulous. With just my Gold membership, I was treated like an emperor, with free drinks at the bar, an upgrade to a spacious luxury suite and a balcony overlooking the ocean. In the room was a fresh fruit basket and cookies and milk at night. The free breakfast spread in the morning was truly befitting a high class establishment with many choices both Chinese and Western. I'm certain I wouldn't have received such treatment during busier times, but because we were one of the few visiting mid-week, we were really taken care of at a level I have never seen before in China.

- Andreas (10/5): Crowne Plaza - nice hotel to relax in Hailng Islan - Crowne Plaza is a nice big hotel with spacious rooms. We had a so called family room ( 70 sqm) . These rooms have a small privat pool in front of the terrace . Perfect place to relax. Big garden and live music in the evening in the lobby.

I stayed in room 2718, and the climate control could not keep up with the heat and humidity, no matter how low I set the temperature. The room was comfortable, but smelled strongly like a moldy basement. I found the room light controls difficult to use, but after some practice I was able to figure out how to turn the lights off. The hotel staff was friendly, even though they did not speak any English. Google Translate was able to get me checked in and fed. The buffet quality was pretty poor compared to other hotel dining options at international hotels.

This hotel is really nice and clean...one word...great place and excellent breakfast too...weather too cold to venture out to the beach. There is an indoor swimming pool but no time for such leisure. The room assigned to us..with an excellent view of the garden, pool & sea........

- Ellinmamma (10/5): Exellent hotel for a family or honeymoon - This hotel is in the middle of the paradise, next to the beach. Very very friendly staff, and they can speak english. Breakfast was delicious and the breakfast restaurant was on the ground floor with huge windows into the garden and pool area. Very quiet hotel. We had a standard room with garden view on the upper floor. The view from the balcony was amazing, it was sea, mountains and garden view. The room was beautiful, but quite small for a family with two teens.

- 684naveedr (6/5): This place loses 1 star per year - This is our 3rd time staying in this hotel. Once per year. The first visit we were taken aback and were so impressed we couldn't contain ourselves. Unfortunately things have gone downhill in a short time for this once fantastic hotel. The good: Grounds are huge and rooms are spacious If you get a room with a beach view it is lovely The kids play room is fun, spacious and nice Breakfast is edible, not good but not terrible. The bad: This list is much longer unfortunately. - apparently the hotel is trying to save some power costs so they don't turn on many lights anywhere. Gives it a cheap feel. - Service: our first year here there was an excellent non Chinese manager. Seems that it is now 100 locally operated and there is very little signs of true Crowne Plaza standard customer service. From check in to the pool area you wouldn't know your at an international hotel. We visited post typhoon so pools were closed and grounds were a mess which I can understand, But the hotel made no effort to make up for this and even though 90% un occupied we were moved from one mildew infested room to another even after complaining. My request for an upgrade if possible was ignored. By the way don't expect English. From room service to pool areas your out of luck if you don't speak Chinese. The spa area staff men were quite unfriendly and down right rude at times. One example was when we asked to take a towel back to our room a very stern Chinese reply of BU Xing (means nope) was all that was given. To be fair a few staff were friendly and smiley. The grounds and details: while spacious and beautiful the details and upkeep are really sad for a hotel just a few years old. Couches in the hotel bar area are very worn and unclean. The railings all need paint and the carpet in the lobby is extremely stained yet they haven't changed it in over a year. Rooms are still ok but details are still not great. Wall paper peeling, frig not cold, etc Food: if a hotels food is good and reasonably priced it can make up for a lot of those small details. Unfortunately the food here is polar opposite of good or reasonably priced. Room service took an hour for completely ice cold, oil drenched fries and over cooked tasteless noodles which looked like mush (I thought noodles are Chinese yet they couldn't even deliver these right). 3 people without drinks were over 120 each person for simple no frills noodles and sandwiches. Rip off and poor food I am sorry to say. The main problem actually with visiting Hailing island is even though it's pretty there is nothing good to eat. Anywhere. The beach: this is why people come here but this has also take a turn for worse. It's littered and the Crowne plaza doesn't even bother providing any beach service for guests. No towels no chairs nothing at all. Ridiculous. To make matters worse is locals are trying to rip you off to sit in there pink uncomfortable plastic chairs. ATVs (for rent) are zooming by making any chance for a quiet, safe and serene visit to the beach impossible. The beach and the lack of care is our biggest disappointment. Summary: if you have the time go to Thailand or the Philippines or even Sanya if you have to. In the past I would always recommend this hotel to ever friend who asked, Ibut as of Oct 2015 I will put a huge disclaimer on any discussion with a friend about Crowne Plaza Hailing. What's funny is I noticed that the "Crowne plaza management" attempted to respond to some previous feedback but the response didn't make much sense as was not helpful....This further highlights the serious lack of professionalism taking place here.
- 190trevorm (8/5): Beautiful Location...needs some work on service. - Booked this hotel as I had some business in nearby Yangjiang and figured it would be a nice break to stay near the beach instead of in the city. Pictures of the hotel on the internet made it look like an attractive resort. I will say that the with the exception of a few things, the hotel is excellent. First of all the grounds are very nice. Typical of a Crowne Plaza in China. Rooms are large, with comfortable beds and good appointments. Maybe a bit too simply decorated and a bit sparse feeling due to hardwood floors instead of carpet, but that's really being opinionated on my part. We got in around 9 pm for check in and similar to one of the other reviews, there was a serious need for better staffing at the front desk and lobby. No doorman, lobby reception, bellman, concierge, greeting and we waited in line for 20 minutes to check in. I had a long day of travel and meetings, so I was a bit impatient. Behind the desk seemed chaotic and when I checked in they couldn't find my reservation. It was definitely not the kind of experience I have come to look forward to at a Crowne Plaza hotel. Especially since it was mid September on a weekday.....not peak season. Additionally, they had karaoke going in right in the front lobby. So while waiting for 20 minutes to check in, I was subjected to some seriously awful loud drunken singing. I love karaoke, but it doesn't really set the vibe for a lobby at a 5* hotel. Just my opinion, I could have been a bit more sensitive due to the long day as I previously mentioned. Anyways, I wanted to bring these up in a review. I definitely recommend this hotel as the area and facilities are really great. Tons of construction going on around this stretch of beach as it looks to be the new go to resort area due to proximity to GZ, HK and Dongguan etc.
- MarkM1847 (10/5): Hailing Island Yangjiang China - As you would expect from a Crowne Plaza property, this hotel is in an outstanding location and has all the vibe of being a resort location. Having the pleasure of staying here albeit only for one night I can not fault anything I have seen here.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - 酒店位置、 房間整潔度都滿意。但酒店服務質素有待改善，入住當天氣溫約29度，但酒店房間沒空調，只有風。電話向酒店反映，無反應，到大堂接待處，仍不得要領，只分咐你到房間等15-30分鐘應會好些。最後調來了一技工到房內檢查，檢查結果係話機房未接到酒店order開空調。再到接待見當值經理，答案一樣...等 晚飯到餐廳時仍未有空調，風扇欠奉，整餐飯大汗小汗。 直至8點回房才感到一點點微涼，整體酒店服務水平...失望。
