Guest Reviews
- Craig (10/5): Tierra Bomba Island - Rocio was a wonderful hostess. Ruby and Fanny werw great cooks for us. It was a very relaxing stay. We will stay there again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): The retreat to relax and totally disconnect - The staff was great they are attentive and will take care of all your needs. If your looking for a place to diconnect and just relax this is the place for you. It is very quaint the rooms are nice the shower is expansive and cold A/C in the room. Only had one problem the water is not very hot but it is not like taking an ice bath. Overall I had a great time here it was relaxing and felt safe and well taken care of. I would visit again.
- charles (8/5): Unsurpassed personalised service - Awesome personalised service, from greeting to goodbye we where pampered by Aleris the hotel keeper and very good chef. Great view directly on the water, waves almost crashing in room. Gret balcony and terrace on top floor. Only caveat, the place needs a bit of TLC and upkeep. NB Good to realize that Isla Tierra Bomba is very secluded and still undevelopped (not even an ATM on entire Island) bring cash ! But it has a lot of local charm and allows to witness real life !
- Stefan (10/5): Relaxing - If you want to be treated like family, this is the place to go.
The Island of Tierrabomba may not have a lot to offer, but if you like to relax, read a good book (or 2), experience amazing local cuisine away from the hectic city of Cartagena, this is the place.
Simplesmente maravilhoso!
- Rodolfo (2/5): House on a trash-filled, abandoned, unsafe beach. - Don't be tricked by this property's photos & price. This property is nothing that it says it is. We wasted a day of vacation at this dump. We understood from the listing that our stay would be a safe, quiet, and relaxing getaway on the pristine, sandy beach where our kids could play and enjoy safely.
The boat that brought us to the island approached a dock in front of the house. The house looked similar to the pictures on the website. Minus the grass and cleanliness. However the beach was a trash-filled (glass, plastic, dog feces, etc), dangerous & nothing like the pictures. The neighbor's regeatone music was blasting (a shack about 2 mtrs to one side of the property & an abandoned lot another 2 mtrs on the other side), and the back yard of the "hotel" basically looked like junk storage, with a water tank.
The room inside was generally okay, except that the air conditioning was not working. Cartagena is 100 degrees + and air conditioning is absolutely necessary. The water that came out of the faucets was brown, and we felt dirtier after we showered than before. The downstairs kitchen & living area closed at 10pm, so you were confined to your room that was too hot, because everywhere else was unsafe & dirty.
- Manor (10/5): Lovely oceanfront retreat - Everyone is very hospitable and friendly--from the pickup at the airport to arrival and throughout our stay. Food is basic but tasty--especially the coconut rice! They will arrange any activity you want, we took a boat ride to playa maman, a secluded beach on the other side of the island. Lovely hammmocks and swings to relax in, and a very nice balcony and rooftop with a great view of Cartagena.
