Guest Reviews
- Joellen (8/5): Lovely hideout that feels far from civilization - The lodge was lovely. A few nice hikes directly from the lodge and plenty of additional activities can be booked directly with them. The lodge is quite remote ( which we loved) but meant eating on site is strongly recommended. They offered a reasonably priced meal plan which we took advantage of for our stay. The plan only offered one non vegetarian option and vegetarian option. Most of the time neither option appealed to me.
- Jean (5/5): Over-priced - The grounds are beautiful. The room was quiet and private. Nice design touches throughout. There are 2 things I would say: location and price. The location is fairly far out of town, which should have made it perfect for bird-watching, but very few birds came by. There did not appear to be enough open space for them to want to come, so we were remote without the benefit of being so. There were no feeders, so there was no advantage to being at this lodge than any other. Which brings us to the second issue: This place is way over-priced for what you get. Other eco-lodges in the area are considerably less expensive for a comparable experience. Likewise, while free fruits were on offer throughout the day, the meals were atronomically priced ($25 each for dinner? The same food could be had in town for $10.) AND, they charge you $2.50 for tea and coffee outside of breakfast hours. That's for hot water, folks! The whole thing felt like a money-grab and it left a bad taste in my mouth.

- Nina Lynn (10/5): Beautiful spot to unplug and connect with nature! - Beautiful grounds and welcoming staff with delicious food offerings on premises. N/A
- Sharon (9/5): Great eco lodge experience - Beautiful lodge. Amazing staff. Superb location for birdwatching. Set menu dining good value and very tasty. Superb tours offered through lodge via Sabina tours A little too far from Mindo to easily walk into town. Missed having a kettle in the room for morning drinks for birdwatching from our balcony (although drinks were always available in the lodge).

- Antoinette (7/5): Bel environnement, magnifique bungalow spacieux.
- Rohini (10/5): Awesome location, awesome to read and watch beautiful birds - Beautiful location with awesome customer service None
- José (10/5): -
- Julie (10/5): Loved it!! - The setting in the forest! The birding - they’re magnificent!

- Estefania (8/5): Overall, a pleasant and relaxing stay, but there’s room for improvement in comfort and value. - Really nice eco lodge with a great atmosphere. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the place felt cozy and comfortable. It’s a lovely spot to relax and enjoy nature. A few small things could be improved, but overall it was a very good experience. For what you pay, you can find better places. The massages were nice, but since it was a cold day, it would’ve been great if they’d made more effort to create a warm, spa-like vibe, it just felt a bit standard.
- Barba (10/5): Mejor escape en Mindo. - Un lugar increíble. El servicio fue excelente, el personal muy atento y la habitación preciosa. Perfecto para una escapada de la ciudad.
- Allison Jay (10/5): Wonderful eco lodge makes the Mindo experience even better - Location, ecological values, passion of staff, quality of construction, setting, lgbt friendly Nothing at all to say here
- Michael (10/5): - Excellent place to relax and enjoy. Ephesians was great and helped identify so many species of birds in Mindo. Definitely want to come back!!
- Blae (9/5): A wonderful peaceful retreat in the forest - The setting is idyllic. Our room was really comfy and wonderful to not need air conditioning, or even the fan on, in the evenings. Considering the location, I was pleasantly surprised to find that a combination of my eco bug spray and their eco bug spray (provided in the room) did indeed prevent me from getting bitten. We did the evening walk and the morning bird watching, both were highlights of our trip. The meals were wholesome, delicious and the portions were very generous. I felt generally like staff were not very present outside of meal times. There was a bit of confusion with our request for a packed lunch on the final day. I had asked if this was something they did and they had said yes, but then when it came to us checking-out there was no-one around. Once I had tracked someone down, it was clear it hadn't been made. They seemed reluctant to use single use packaging to provide it to us. I totally agree with this sentiment but don't understand why they said they could do it in the first place.
- Nancy (10/5): A truly beautiful lodge in the heart of the forest of Mindo. A wonderful retreat! - This is a beautiful ecolodge in the heart of the forests of Mindo. It is a distance from the town itself, which is walkable along a dirt road or a short taxi ride for $2-3. The food is delicious and prepared with great care and the staff (especially Erika and Efraim) are lovely and very helpful with all arrangements. We took a terrific night walk through the forest which was incredible with all the wildlife to be seen. Nothing! Note that if you have any physical challenges walking it may be tough for you to stay here as it is on a hill and the paths are through the forest.
- Adrien (9/5): Fantastic stay in Mindo with fun activities for the whole family, - Great location, away from town in the middle of the cloud forest. Very good food - breakfast and dinner. Outstanding nature guides - Efrain and Peter. A bit too “pushy” on the sale of their tours in the beginning, although some of them are - in the end - outstanding! We did the Morning Birding and the Night Walk tours.
- Stephen (10/5): Real gem in rainforest setting - Efrain is a wonderful host! Lovely setting in rainforest, great food and comfortable rooms. Nothing, all good
- Elian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Meera (9/5): A lovely and peaceful place - The general feel of the place is very homely and welcoming, fresh food lunches and dinners and very accommodating staff
The surrounding areas are very peaceful with lots of bird life!
The location is also very close to all activities within Mindo
- Christiana (10/5): Heaven in middle of the cloud forest - This was heaven! Most relaxing place. Birds all around. Spacious and comfortable room with many details and small amenities. Lovely stuff!
I regret not to stay longer.
- Linsey (10/5): - The lodge was comfortable and very quiet
- Jacqueline (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sophie (10/5): Perfect getaway in Mindo - Casa Divina is the most beautiful lodge and a perfect getaway in Mindo. It is nestled right in the cloud forest so you can do some bird watching right from the balcony of your room. The property is absolutely beautiful and the staff are fantastic and so welcoming. The dinner and breakfast were fantastic. Highly reccomend for a relaxing stay in Mindo.
- Marcia (8/5): Perfect location in the cloud forest - The location was excellent. Property rustic and rural. Delicious breakfast Prompt laundry services Efrail the bird guide was fantastic It was a bit chilly and damp while were were there so a space heater might be helpful.
- Robin (7/5): Magical setting, more basic than expected - Location was magical. Bird watching tour was excellent. Inadequate pillows, should have a robe in room as there is no heat, food just okay.
- Scottie (10/5): Awey - Beautiful. Located in the heart of the cloud forest. Food was excellent. So peaceful Nothing
- Michael (10/5): Live on the other side of the world, and would happily go back here.n a heartbeat. I - Speechless as to how immersive this location is in its surrounds. I wasn’t there long enough :(
- Dara (9/5): Superb -
- Acosta (8/5): Very good -
- Cheryl (8/5): Lovely cabin surrounded by forest - Wattled Guan, rufous motmot on property
Wonderful room with balcony and hammock overlooking jungle
Staff accommodated our early departures and late arrivals from adventures Dusty road to town with a lot of atvs but only on weekend. Rest of days are very quiet. Food is pricy compared to other places we have been, but it is a resort area.
- Kathryn (10/5): Wonderful peaceful cabins - Really wonderful and peaceful stay in Mindo- could not recomendad this more. The lodge is in beautiful reserve about 2km from Mindo town (so you get to see all the best of the wildlife). We took a tour to the waterfalls with the guide and owner Efraín, it was a once in a lifetime opportunity! We started off at 6am on the top floor of the main lodge bird watching (the most incredible and colourful birds) followed by a wonderful day out with Efrain, who is super knowledgeable about Mindo and the wildlife. We also had dinner and lunch here - great quality and tasty. I would definitely recommend staying outside of the town as you get a true feel for the nature and you are closer to the waterfalls etc. this would also be a great place to take kids. We also got to view some amazing wildlife at the lodge including some agoutis which was a highlight. Nothing- we were so well looked after with super communicate hosts before and during our stay!
- Ramon (10/5): - Excelente atención y buenas instalaciones
- xiaoyu (10/5): - A harbor for the soul, a paradise on earth for me!
- Emilio (9/5): Fantastic stay in beautiful location - The location is beautiful and feels very peaceful. The hammock on the balcony was a favourite.
Lady was very useful on WhatsApp as you can message her and arrange taxis / restaurant recommendations/ laundry etc. It would have been good if food (even cold sandwiches) are available to buy during the day. we arrived at 2pm to check in and were very hungry after travelling from Quito but kitchen was closed and had to then get a taxi into mindo to get food when we would have liked to have been relaxing in the beautiful room
- Lance (10/5): Exceptional -
- Laura (10/5): Highly recommend! - Incredible. Such a wonderful place to stay in the Mindo area. Really tucked away in the forest but only a 20-25min walk or $3 cab to the town. We stayed in the upper level of the lodge which was wonderfully positioned to watch the birds. Excellent service really recommend.
- Laura (10/5): Truly Devine - The most superb facility, owner/host, staff, food and natural surroundings that I have been to in Ecuador. We've been here in Ecuador nearly 5 months now and I can easily say that this is the best overall experience I've had so far. Efrain's science and construction/building background has made this a super place to stay in the paradise of Mindo. The beautiful structures blend right in with the wonder of it all and seems to beat out the other lodges we noticed around. These precision buildings strategically positioned are set back from roads yet easily accessible to walk to other areas of interest. We took the bird tour which was stunning. Efrain's equipment and guidance to see and what to look for was smooth and fun. He grew up in this area witnessing the protection of this nature preserve which made his knowledge invaluable. We learned so much and enjoyed the privilege of such spectacular wildlife creatures and plant life. As far as the food and staff goes the unity, love and respect for wildlife and environmental running of the grounds (solar, composting, water cleaning systems) made obvious the passion which is put into action with team effort and cooperation that was shared generously with us in a quiet patient enthusiasm in true and exquisite Ecuadorian fashion. Food so delicious and made to order, all our requests met, made it fantasic to come to home base to eat there between excursions or pleasant walks. We will be back and hopefully with other friends to share such a unique and once-in-a- lifetime experience that will be forever memorable. We will be back and continue to explore the area from Casa Divina as our home base. Happy trails to all!
- Jorge (10/5): - Excellent
- Raia (10/5): Cloud forest serenity - Beautiful location in the rainforest. Lovely room at tree top level with deck and hammock. Stream and frogs lulled us to sleep.
Excellent dinner and breakfast - thank you for arranging late breakfast so we could go on a dawn birding tour. -
- Troy (10/5): Loved every minute I was there - It was situated in the forest There was nothing to dislike
- Kelly (10/5): Fantastic!! - Casa Divina was fantastic. It was tranquil, clean, and the staff was extremely friendly and responsive. I would highly recommend. The food was very good and it was a pleasure to be able to have such a good breakfast in the morning.
- Katie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Peter (10/5): Not long enough; a week might have been good. - The location of the hotel was not far from a small town, but far enough that it was completely quiet at night. The fact that the original owners built it in a forest, while clearing only the minimal number of trees, helped maintain this illusion. Also, our individual room was only a few metres away from the main hall/reception area, but again because of all the trees that had been left, it seemed completely private. Not really much to say here. I suppose the check-in employee could have given us a choice of rooms, since we were the only guest at the time. We were assigned a first-floor "cabaña", and I would have preferred an upper-floor one, but it didn't make a lot of difference.
- Paola (10/5): Exceptional -
- Pamela (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (10/5): Wonderful oasis with lovely staff and owners. Attention to sustainability and thoughtful design and details. Felt so we - Location! Staff and food were fantastic.Accommodations were private and so comfortable. No complaints!
- Omar (10/5): Exceptional -
- Matthijs (8/5): Great lodge, but disproportionately expensive guided tours. - The lodge itself is great. The cabins are large, very clean and comfortable. The lodge is in a very quiet area with many birds and has an observation deck for birdwatching. The location is easy to reach with a small car. Very helpful and friendly staff. They charge a disproportionate amount for guided tours. A 3 hour birdwatching tour with a local guide on their own terrain costs much more (~80$ p/p) than a night in a cabin including breakfast. They were not able to explain to me how their tours stand out from other operators.
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good - Birds, plants and animals.
It was very nice
- David (10/5): Exceptional - Good location for birding, very helpful staff
- Benjamin (8/5): Very good -
- Csaba (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing location, in the middle of the cloud forest - falling asleep and waking up to the sounds of the jungle. Perfect location for someone looking for peace & quiet to recharge. Staff was friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend!
- Yuzo (9/5): If you feel like traveling to Mindo, go and stay at this place. - This was our second stay since March and it felt very comfortable as if were our first visit. You can hear and see only what is called nature, birds, trees and flowers, sun and the sky, nothing else. Nothing much to mention.
- Rebekah (10/5): Gorgeous spot - Cada Divina is a beautiful lodge in a beautiful location . The food is fantastic and the staff is super helpful with suggestions for what to see and do and how to get anywhere . We enjoyed the rooftop birdwatching deck in the mornings and evenings
- Roy (10/5): Just brilliant so enjoyed it here, if you love nature & come to Mindo stay here - Everything, so relaxing, in among nature, excellent facilities, all the staff, great communication before & during the trip. Food was lovely too. Its location is great close to town, butterfly farm, chair ride, river. Taxi easy to get around locally. Mindo is a very safe area. So enjoyed our stay here.
Staff spoke english which was really helpful as we had no Spanish. They also arranged taxi to pick us from the airport and taking us back at fixed costs. We even stopped off at the Equator line park for an hour and the taxi waited for us then took us on to Quito, he was great. That we had to leave!
- Sven (10/5): Exceptional -

- Collins (9/5): A beautiful place to spend time right in the heart of the forest, with comfort and great service - The property is set in beautiful grounds and you really feel like you’re in the forest itself! I loved it. Camilla and Freddy were both extremely helpful too : ) and the food was also really good. I would definitely come again!
- Dawn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dionne (8/5): Very good - The location was great. The staff was helpful and informative. The breakfast was not good at all. We were served pan de yuca, fruits, juice and eggs. My family doesn't like yuca and asked for 4 slices of bread. We were charged $2.94 for the slices of bread. We didn't even eat the bread as it tasted old. The breakfast needs more variety.
- Lambe (8/5): Very good -
- Viktoria (10/5): A paradise for bird & nature lovers - This place has everything you could be asking for. Lovely stuff, great quality, yummy food, comfortable, spacious rooms, it feels like everything has been thought though until the very last detail.
If you like nature, this is your place. They even have their own walking trails.
But the true highlight is the viewing platform in their main house. We spent so many hours there and saw all kinds of amazing birds (toucans, toucanets, parrots, humming birds, and more).
Highly recommended staying here Seriously, even if I try really hard, I couldn't come up with a thing that I didn't like
- Kathy (10/5): A little piece of paradise. - Large comfortable room with cosy bed and excellent bathroom and shower. The housekeeping was excellent and all the staff warm and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. A wonderful observation area looking into the treetops and spotting colourful birds. The gardens are extensive and full of beautiful plants and flowers. We stayed for five nights and could have easily stayed longer. I would love to make a return visit. There wasn’t anything I didn’t like.
- Marlena (10/5): Exceptional - All of the food was absolutely amazing! Staff were all extremely helpful and it was such a beautiful location.
- Dominic (8/5): Very good -
- Carolyn (10/5): Birding was amazing. - Beautiful and quaint with a super friendly staff. Excellent birding as well.
- Susan (9/5): Superb - Beautiful wood rooms. Full bathtubs. Lovely porches with hammocks. Beautiful gardens
- Alyssa (10/5): comfortable & quiet. - it was in a beautiful area
- A (9/5): Superb -
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional - restful
- Anonymous (8/5): very beautiful location in the middle of your own privat jungle! - It was a super great location, in the middle of your own jungle! Nice spot for watching birds. Nice staff! It is a 25 minutes walk to the Nice town Mindo, so you really choose for a break far away
- Maureen (9/5): It is truly a paradise in the cloud forest. - The breakfast was excellent. One morning we had yogurt, nuts and fruit, as well as pancakes. Our 2nd morning we had fruit and eggs. The smoothies they made for us both mornings were delicious. The property is absolutely gorgeous and the rooms are beautifully appointed — rustic but elegant with everything you’d find in a 5 star hotel — amazing attention to detail! We really enjoyed chatting with Camille, a staff member, who was very helpful and just lovely. We loved meeting Divina and finding out that she was the daughter of the owners and that Casa Divina was named after her. David the fellow who works with Casa Divina and Sabrina Tours and who Camille organized to drive us to Cotopaxi was wonderful. He drove carefully particularly the last part of the drive which was quite challenging. He was so enthusiastic and often offered to stop for us to take photos along the way — he couldn’t do enough for us. The wine we wanted on our 2nd night was not available so their wine selection was very low when we were there. Camille and Divina spoke English very well and were very helpful. It was very difficult to communicate with any of the other staff particularly in the morning early when we were wanting some coffee — problems explaining that we wanted milk and cream with the coffee. They did try hard to understand. When I read about the property I thought the owner or another guide might offer a short bird watching session free of charge but found out we’d have to pay $80 each for a three hour session. We’re not really bird watchers so we didn’t want to pay that much. It would have been nice to have had an introductory session perhaps on the observation deck early one morning for an hour.
- Alison (8/5): Great location and accommodation but eat elsewhere - Location, cabin, views from the balcony, plenty of towels and spacious bath. Food was very disappointing.
- Dani (10/5): Exceptional -
- Susan (9/5): Superb - We spent our last two nights in Ecuador here. The location in the middle of cloud forest, just outside Mindo, was beautiful and stress-free. The lodges were well appointed and the beds long and comfortable. Although, there are lots of food options in Mindo itself, we ate at the lodge both evenings; the food was high quality and Ecuadorian, yum! All this would not be possible without the wonderful staff, especially Divina and Camilla.
- William (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nancy (10/5): would come here every year if it weren’t so far from Vancouver Island - staff were great
cabin was spacious with hammock on balcony absolutely nothing!

- Sally (9/5): Lovely Lodge in peaceful location outside of Mindo with welcoming staff and excellent food. - Lovely quiet location in beautiful gardens 20 minutes walk from Mindo.Staff very welcoming and helpful. We had breakfast and evening meals the food
was exceptional using fresh local ingredients. Our room was very clean comfortable and spacious. There was nothing that we didn’t like ,it could have been improved by a kettle in the room and small fridge. The tours offered by the hotel were
very expensive we took a cheaper excellent tour from an operator in Mindo.
- Madeleine (8/5): Very good - Nice room and in the nature Wifi connection is poor
- Stephanie (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (10/5): Casa Divina is a beautiful, welcoming oasis that is a wonderful launch pad to experience Mindo - Food was tasty, nutritious and well prepared
