Guest Reviews
- Sharon (8/5): Really lovely break. Landlady and family made us feel really welcome. - Breakfast was really good. Lovely view of the sea. Really comfy bed. Would stay again. Didn't dislike anything.
- Stephen (7/5): Overall we enjoyed the stay, couldn’t fault location or food but accommodation could be improved - Location and food The bathroom required attention and/or refurbishment. Also towel rail wasn’t working and shelf under mirror missing. Windows in bedroom were using folded paper to keep keep sealed when closed
- carol (6/5): Perfect location, bathroom needs attention!! - Perfect location, car parking is £11-45 for 24hrs Unfortunately the weather was windy and the windows did not seal properly, making it draughty, possibly that’s would be good in the summer 🤩
- Rod (1/5): - The location fantastic
The staff excellent Despite being advised this hotel is only dog friendly in the bar area. They do not allow Assistance/Guide Dogs in the hotel.
Rude uninterested manager very very unhelpful
- John (8/5): -
- David (9/5): Very enjoyable stay and would love to return. - Very comfortable room in a character property in an excellent location. Would love to return, need I say more? Nothing of note.
- Garry (9/5): - The rooms were clean and well maintained. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Nothing was ever too much trouble.
- Lucy (9/5): Lovely comfy stay - We loved the room it was so spacious and it was appreciated to have a really good shower and space in the bathroom. Rare these days but so glad for this here. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Very little, only small gripe the bed was broken/ sloped down and as we were leaving very early and had paid for our breakfast that we could take with us (a muffin or crossaint) we were offered a sandwich but no fridge to store it anywhere so politely declined.
- Michelle (10/5): -
- Graham (8/5): Overall a very hospitable hotel, excellent bar staff who work hard to accommodate you, breakfast would be much better if - Well positioned for exploring. A must visit is the local museum, just amazing. The noise at the front of the hotel at night, drinkers mainly groups of raucous woman strangely, had to have the window closed. The breakfast was a little sparse, had poached egg on toast, the menu was on sourdough, came on cheap white bread, second morning I found a local place to eat much nicer and the food was much better than the hotel.
- David (7/5): Good location and very good breakfast - Nice quiet location and very good freshly cooked breakfast Small rooms
- Nathan (7/5): - Great Breakfast and helpful staff. The bathroom could use renovation but still clean
- Philip (9/5): We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Two Life Boats and in Sheringham in general. - Room was very comfortable with a sea view. The breakfast menu had lots of choice and the large English certainly set me up for the day. Perhaps remember to put glasses out for the breakfast fruit juice
- Anja (6/5): Friendly staff, tasty breakfast, but cleanliness needs improvement - Delicious breakfast with a great range of options, including cooked items, sandwiches, and cereals. The cooked breakfast was especially good. The room had cute décor and a lovely welcome package with local sweets. I had expected a single bed but was pleasantly surprised to get a double.
When I reported an issue with my room, it was taken seriously and quickly addressed. Excellent location, right by the beach, very central, and within walking distance of buses and the train station. I also appreciated being able to store my luggage after check-out as my train was later in the day.
The owners and all staff (including those working in the pub and at breakfast) were friendly and helpful throughout my stay. My room wasn’t properly cleaned on arrival, although this was addressed when I reported it. The building overall could benefit from a deep clean and some renovation. The corridors were narrow, stuffy, and dusty, with a musty smell.
Access to the rooms involves very steep stairs, and the doors leading to them are quite heavy on both ends. This felt unsafe, especially when going down, as the stairs were directly behind the door.
Soundproofing was poor. I could hear noise from other rooms (snoring, bathrooms, phones ringing), as well as outside. The windows could do with better glazing. I wasn't aware the ''sea view'' room was above the pub garden, which meant there was noticeable noise from outside, and the street lighting came through the curtains at night. The fire exit sign inside the room was also quite bright.
Storage in the room was limited, a chest of drawers or additional shelving would have been helpful.
Wi-Fi was available but quite slow, even with two networks.
- Hardy (8/5): - Breakfast and food generally was great, the bed was extremely comfortable.
It was wonderful to watch the sun setting on the sea from the bedroom window. The shower room could have been cleaner and the shower wasn't great.
The parking was quite an added cost to the stay
- Philip (6/5): . - Being right on the sea front the views are fantastic. Although it does state there is no lift we were very surprised to be be told that the way to our room was up a metal fire escape and through a door that was about 5 foot in height. I said because of mobility issues I wouldn’t be able to use the fire escape to be told the indoor steps were very narrow and steep. It would of been nice to know it doesn’t have good access at the time of booking as I would never have booked this venue.
- Francesca (10/5): - Close to beach
Very good staff
- Salley Ann (7/5): - Breakfast, room view sticky tables!!! tabless in dining area and bar so sticky its gross, such a shame
- Tony (10/5): Will definitely go there again! - Had a room overlooking the sea. Superb breakfast. Cannot fault the staff and manager who were all very friendly and helpful. It was my wife’s 75th birthday and they made our stay special. We will certainly visit again. WiFi was not great.
- Brian (9/5): -
- Susan (7/5): Enjoyable stay, comfortable room, excellent breakfast - Excellent breakfast. Room was clean and comfortable. Steep stairs
- tracy (7/5): - Great location, helpful staff, busy pub. Nice bedding, comfy bed and outstanding breakfast. Rooms are very dated, carpet was dirty, bathroom shower/tiles in need of a deep clean. Nowhere to hang clothes, not a hook or coat hanger.
- Julie (7/5): It was a very comfortable stay in a nice location. Will return in spite of the small issues. - Lovely sea view, very comfortable bed and bedding, nice towels. The double glazing on the windows had condensation inside the gap so the view was slightly obscured. Strong aroma of air fresheners everywhere.
- Claire (6/5): - Great staff and atmosphere fabulous location 😃 Unfortunately housekeeping wasnt the best .room was rather dirty around the windowsills , skirting boards.. and corners .Bed was clean and very comfy.
Coffee stains splashed up the wall in the breakfast room not very appealing ....
- lisa (10/5): Perfect place , perfect stay - Very clean and comfortable friendly staff great breakfast Nothing
- David (9/5): Enjoyable wonderful views and comfortable surroundings. - Room was clean and warm a little noisy but bearable. Little noisy glazing a bit dated perhaps.
- Bruce (9/5): Excellent - Very nice with excellent breakfast and location
- DRENA (6/5): Lovely pub hotel on the beach - The New management abd staff were lovely.
Beds were very comfy.
Nice choices for Breakfast.
Our Seaview room was lovely.
The location is superb, right on the beach located down steps. Food prices too expensive compared to other pubs in Sheringham in similar location.
The whole place needs redecorating looking a bit tired .
Macerater toilet / sink very noisy .
Green light over bedroom door kept us awake, too bright at night couldn't turn it off. No light meals are available on the evening menu ,only at lunchtime !!
Parking was expensive, you can't park at the premises the car park is close but you can only get up to 4 hours for £8.80 then it jumps to £11.50 for 24 hours which seems steep as the car park is free from 6pm to 8am overnight. So £34.50 for a 3 night stay
:( despite these issues our overall stay was lovely.
- James (9/5): Rooms with sea views and a great brakfast - Great location, lovely to lay in bed listening to the waves. Breakfast was good and pleased it is now offered a little earlier than before. Room could do with a deeper clean but it was fine. Wifi was OK but slow.
- Sue (5/5): Great location would not stay again - By the sea with sea views. Bay window with comfy chairs and binoculars.Staff very helpful. Exceedingly steep stairs. Bathroom not too clean, filthy skirting boards. Old unused metal lotion bottle holders above sink and in shower going rusty.Laundry room was next to our room and washing machine still going after 11 pm. Strong smell of detergents in our room. First day breakfast excellent, second day poached eggs hard boiled.
- Jenny (10/5): We would definitely stay there again and would recommend to others. - The hotel is recently under new management. We were greeted by the owner and shown to our room. She was open about the fact that the rooms still needed to be renovated but if we needed anything we only had to ask. We had dinner in the restaurant. Nicely set out and comfortable furniture. The meal was great, I don't know why but we were expecting pub grub but it was absolutely delicious as was the breakfast as we could ask for pretty much anything and was cooked to order. For me, one of the highlights was incredibly comfortable bed. Slept better than at home. We had to be off early the day we left and the owner offered to make us sandwiches. We felt they really cared and we wish them much luck for the future. We would definitely stay there again.
- Tom Andover (9/5): - Location and friendly staff Nothing
- Andy (10/5): - Breakfast, Real Ales and Evening meals No Bath
- Tim Humphries (8/5): Lovely stay and great location - Great location
Friendly staff
Great breakfast Very steep steps to first floor so care required
- pamela (8/5): Enjoyable, lovely staff - Breakfast very good
- Lesley (10/5): - Excellent breakfast and lovely staff
- Sally (1/5): £520 for 4 night not worth half of that - Location The wating for clean towels and bin in bedroom was not emptied the whole of our stay we left the sign daily on our door to ask for assistance but none came until the night before we left and I asked the manager for clean towels she said that they weren’t done because the cleaner was poorly the room was very dirty went to find someone when we got there to clean it but the barmaid said somebody would be up but no one came
- Jonathan (10/5): - Friendly staff. Amazing spot for a short break.
- Janet (8/5): A friendly place with plenty of character - The location was great though weather and time limited opportunities for exploration. The staff were lovely and food was very good, with an excellent breakfast. The building is pleasantly quirky, with a warm atmosphere and it was a delight to lie in bed and hear the sea breathing. The bedroom was a little cold to begin with, but that was probably due to a change in the weather.
- Neil (10/5): - Very friendly staff, great location right in the seafront, and fantastic food!
- Mariusz (8/5): Great location. - Friendly and accommodating staff. Great location. Poor bathroom cleanliness and soundproofing.
- Mark (10/5): - Place was clean and tidy breakfast was amazing with fantastic staff / all staff was perfect helpful and friendly definitely be back
- Deborah (9/5): Perfect setting for a visit to Sheringham and lovely breakfast - Great location and view of sea from room
- Lindsey (7/5): - Location was excellent. The shower cubicle was very small and doors didn't close, resulting in water not being contained.
Had booked a "sea view" however it was a "side view "
- John (10/5): - Sea view great breakfast
- Bogle (10/5): Sheringham: The Two Lifeboats - Location for sure. Claire and Eli are a credit. In fact all staff I came across were. Good selection for breakfast with a very convenient 8.30-10.30 window. Room had everything I needed and its literally 10 yards to the sea wall. Nothing to fault at all
- Lou (6/5): We love sheringham . - The room wasn’t clean skirting and shower tray disgusting lots of dust and the walls had what looked like fat marks all over them . In desperate need of a deep clean and decorating . Toilet said sanitized but was not as it had not even been flushed . Shower was really slow and awful needs new showers last time we stayed in a different room we told the manager he said they were all being updated but clearly nothing has been done . Water in sink took 10 mins before we got hot water another downside . These points need addressing !! Staff and breakfast very good 😊
- Zazie (10/5): -
- Val (10/5): Perfect for our short stay. Would stay again. - Very good breakfast - Claire was great.
- Suzanne (7/5): - Our meal was ok, but four choices we would have liked was no longer available being our wedding anniversary was a bit disappointing. Staff were great as was the breakfast Was hoping for larger room and was quite cold. Shower was poor. Ok for couple nights as no where to hang clothes photo was quite deceiving we would stay again but just couple of nights
- Stone (9/5): - Very helpful and friendly staff, breakfast great and perfect location. Bit of refurbishment needed on room.
- Craig (10/5): -
- CATARINA (9/5): - The location is perfect, and the staff are really super friendly and helpful
- Mike (10/5): Great stay - Lovely stay. The chap on the bar who checked us in and showed us to our room was lovely. Nothing
- Yeo (8/5): A great stay in a lovely old pub. - Our room was large, quiet and comfortable and the only let down was the shower, which was pretty rubbish.
Breakfast wat excellent and all the staff we spoke to were polite and helpful. The shower.
- Rita (8/5): Had love stay room with view over sea . - Location really good .staff really friendly and helpful. Breakfast was amazing filled you up for the whole day. Nothing
- Philip (10/5): -
- Karen (7/5): Good relaxing break - Good location, staff very friendly Food was average for the price
- Johanne (6/5): Acceptable but disappointing. Will not be back. - Position, staff were friendly. Land lady lovely. Comfortable bed, good sleep.
Great breakfast. Smelt on the stairwell inside.
Not enough staff or supplies. No coffee pods. Told too expensive to buy locally and a problem with supplies. Tired, needs some maintenance in the bedroom. Stains on walk. Cleaning below standard.
- Ashmore (10/5): Thank you - Great team and comfy bed. Woke up to the sea view every day
- Hazel (9/5): Brilliant stay and quality time celebrating my dad's 90th birthday. - Breakfast was lovely, just as we asked
Sausage was from local butcher. The stairs were a little steep for me.but its a 300 year old building so what else could I expect. Lol
I would definitely stay again. There was outside stairs that we used and were much better for me.
- Janet (9/5): We had a lovely stay in February - Great location, friendly, helpful staff, great breakfast
- Debbie (8/5): Really lovely - would return - Amazing views and location Walls are thin
- jo (6/5): - Restaurant surroundings atmosphere and staff 👌 Our room
- Gareth (8/5): Perfect for a solo stay overlooking the sea - Great location
- Ian (8/5): -

- Nigel (8/5): - Great place for our 1 night stay.
Food good, although a little compact, room had great sea views.
- Joanne (10/5): Perfect stay, couldn't have asked for anything more - The location, right on the sea front. The staff were so friendly and helpful. My room was very clean and comfortable, the sea view was amazing
- John (4/5): Hard work for access - Location was good staff were pleasant The access to our room was not suitable for our age dangerous doors hard to open stairs very steep room was ok bathroom not very clean half used products left did not use shower got back from a function we attended it was not late 10 30 had to climb wet slippery fire escape to get back in no body on site about if you wanted them not good experience overpriced for what we got
- Joanne (10/5): truly wonderful - everything about our stay was fantastic, polite and friendly staff , room warm and comfortable , great variation of tea and coffee facilities , table booked for evening meal which was amazing and breakfast the following morning was exceptional, would definitely go back.
- Susan (9/5): Very friendly relaxing stay, room equipped well and was really comfortable had a fabulous time - Staff were all very friendly
View was lovely Choice on menu could have had some healthy choices
- David (8/5): Made to feel very welcome - Excellent location
- Colin (6/5): Ok - Very friendly staff. Good choice of food Plug in bathroom basin was missing when we arrived.l spoke to a member of staff who provided a solution that was not great but said it would be fixed next day.
Nothing had been done when we left. Other people paying up to £1000.00 a week might not accept the situation.
- Jarunate (9/5): Good - My son and my brother said the bed so good. They need to take the bed back home.😄😁 The rooms haven't keep the sound much.
- Elizabeth (7/5): A lovely place to stay overall. My daughter and myself had a lovely weekend together - It was close to the theatre The bathroom
- Hannam (7/5): -
- Peter (6/5): Average - Clean, comfortable bed Cold shower, slow service at breakfast
- Spaceman007 (1/5): The Two Lifeboats Sheringham - One to avoid.... - On arrival staff were friendly & pub was pleasantly decorated. Food was to a good standard. Having stayed at The Lobster Pub in Sheringham recently (part of the same pub chain) & thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of our stay, I thought I'd be writing an outstanding review today. Unfortunately it's the complete opposite. Having mentioned to the staff member on arrival that one of our party was 6 mths pregnant, on being shown to our rooms (JC Madge & William Bennett) it was noted that neither of them were particularly warm. Staff member advised that heating was warming up and that the latter room (where our expectant mum was staying) had just had it's radiator repaired & he even commented it was his favourite room. A further conversation with the same staff member later in the afternoon included a request for a portable heater, which he said wasn't available and insisted the heating would be sufficient overnight. On returning to the closed pub, later in the evening, which we understand happens during winter months, our friends entered their room to find it icy cold, with the radiator inlet pipe hot to the touch, but the full wall radiator almost cold. They also found the wind was literally howling through gaps in the window. Whilst I appreciate it's a 300 year old building, (raised as a defence by the landlady the following morning) there had clearly been previous attempts to put some draft excluders in the windows unsuccessfully. There was also no out of hours number to raise attention of staff, so we had to give our friends the throw off our bed to help them stay warm, as there wasn't one in their room. Needless to say not a lot of sleep was had....
On raising the issues the following morning with the landlady she seemed dismissive stating we could have had a portable heater & couldn't explain why we had been denied one the previous day. She initially offered us a £20 refund, but only once she had been paid next month by Booking.com on each room.
- Paul (9/5): Very enjoyable, we would go back. - The meals both Breakfast and Dinner were excellent.
Our view from our bedroom was overlooking the sea which was fantastic.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The tea and coffee supplied in the room was very good, including biscuits and bottled water. Our radiator in the shower room didn't work so the room was very very cold, this was mentioned a couple of times.
The menu showed Fresh fish, which we would have like as it was a coastal hotel, but they never had any.
- Linda (8/5): We had a very pleasant stay apart from the coldness of our room it did spoil our stay somewhat - The Two Lifeboats is in a prime position on the sea front and our room had a good sea view. The bed was very comfortable and the room was nicely furnished. Our room was very cold all the time we were there, even though the radiators were on they were not very hot. It was January and the weather was cold so we were looking forward to being cosy in our accommodation and although the rest of the building was warm our room was not.
- Peter (10/5): Will be back - Excellent views of the sea, can't get much closer.
The breakfasts are out of this world, good quality ingredients all cooked to order.
Staff go over the top to help
- Philip E (10/5): -
- Sandra (10/5): Brilliant stay - Excellent stay, staff were great, always ready to help and nothing too much trouble. Had trouble with heating not working in one room but because it was New Year’s Eve we totally understood that it couldn’t be mended but was compensated for this issue
- Suzanne (7/5): - Breakfast very good friendly staff
Comfortable bed but room and bathroom getting very tired Room and bathroom in desperate need of decorating/refurbishment
- Donald (8/5): - You can't beat the location, loved laying in bed listening to the sea. Sea view when it was light.
The staff were excellent shown to room, shown all facilities. Service at breakfast and dinner was top notch. The room was nice comfortable warm and cosy but there were signs the cleaning and maintenance little more attention. Splash marks on paintwork near the bed, black mould in the shower, toothpaste runs on tiles in bathroom. £190.00 a night might not sound a lot to some but to me it was .
- Reg (10/5): -
- Ian (9/5): Relaxing long weekend in a great location with good food and a lovely town to visit. - Great location.Staff great.Food superb. Cleanliness of room was OK apart from mould on the grout in the shower and around the bottom tray.
