- Melvyn (8/5): Comfortable, quiet room. Nice pub & hearty food. - Ground floor spacious room.
- Ian (8/5): Perfect location for an overnight stay - Excellent choice, cooked fresh and perfect start for the day Nothing, everything was great
- jones (10/5): - Great food, great staff and the room are excellent Nothing
- Rosie (9/5): - Nice comfortable room, nice breakfast.
- Wilby (8/5): - Stopped for one night to break our journey. Room 3 (with bathroom) was compact but clean and sufficient for our needs.
Didn't eat at the Black-a-moor but had a couple of drinks which were very good and like the cost of the accommodation, very well priced. Would be happy to stop again.
- Hewitt (9/5): -
- Sonia (10/5): Home from home - All under one roof. Lovely accommodation. Nice food. Friendly staff. Kinda home from home. Nothing
- Annika (9/5): - Lovely pub, very friendly and welcoming, nice room, really nice and relaxed pub to hang out in, with good food. Definitely recommend!
- Victoria (7/5): Room for the night after the races - Lots of parking
Clean, comfortable room
Lovely bar staff Not a fault of the property - whilst it is only 1/2 mile from the racecourse, the road isn’t safe to walk.
Not told that breakfast would not be available.
- Guest (8/5): Very welcoming. Good value. Relaxing ambiance. - Welcoming, very friendly, bed exceptionally comfortable. Glitch with food service. Explained as due to staff turnover. Management fully sympathetic and apologetic. I would still return.
- Chey (7/5): Nice place, very clean room and friendly staff - Room was very clean Breakfast not an option as we were told chef wasnt in
- Tina (10/5): Callum went above and beyond to make our stay, lovely young man with a wicked sense of humour - Rooms comfy clean and a good size, we arrived before check in but we were allowed into our room as it was ready. We never booked for breakfast but we did have an evening meal, very good and decent choice of startes and mains. Lovely bar and great beer garden especially to watch Red Kites flying over. Stayed for the racing at Ripon great location and easy walking distance.
- Kathleen (9/5): Would certainly return - Staff
Lovely well furnished bedroom
Very good value & tasty food
- Martin (9/5): Pleasant night stay in a comfortable bed and good staff and food - Location Nothing
- Bernard (9/5): perfect stop over to break up a long journey - nice clean room. Good reasonably priced food. plenty of games. good brekkie. n/a
- Julie (8/5): Super stay and Callum couldn’t do enough for us! Made us feel very welcome and was full of fun! - Lovely breakfast fresh cooked Full English Breakfast Rooms looking in need of refurbishment but think this was the owners plan going forward.
- Janet (7/5): - Comfy beds ...clean rooms Paid for breakfast however nobody around at time agreed...waste of 20 pounds as we had to leave..

- Wayne (10/5): - The manager Callum couldn’t do enough for us , all his staff were friendly and helpful ,we had a great stay
- Elizabeth (9/5): Comfortable stay with nice food and helpful staff. - We had to leave the hotel by 8 am so could not be offered breakfast in the restaurant. The barman gave us some cereal and milk (and even brought a fridge up for us) so that we could have breakfast before we left - which was very kind. A lovely room but quite expensive. £130 seems a lot for one night.
- Wheeler (10/5): - Made to feel welcome Everything
- PJ Fisher (9/5): - Location is excellent for the races. The bedrooms are very clean and comfortable. The staff friendly and helpful, cannot fault the experience in anyway. Only a short stay
- Neil (7/5): -
- Esther (8/5): - Excellent location. Good food. Very friendly staff. Will definitely stay again.
- Chris (9/5): Would definitely stay again-would highly recommend - Location for the races is good, staff were very helpful, friendly and very welcoming, nothing was too much trouble.
We had two meals - one dinner and one lighter dish, both were delicious and reasonably priced N/A
- Guest (10/5): Lovely place to stay - Great location for races and value for money. Lovely food in restaurant too. Callum great manager N/a
- Alison (4/5): Disappointing - Unfortunately the chef didn’t turn up Get the industrial cleaners in…!!!
- Lesley (10/5): Great value for money and accommodating staff. - Lovely clean and comfortable bedroom and great shower over bath.
Enjoyed tasty evening meals and good breakfasts all reasonably priced.
New host and team of staff all super friendly and helpful.
- James (10/5): -
- Joanne (7/5): Friendly staff but road noise was a downside. - The staff were friendly and the bed was comfortable. Very clean. We arrived late and they were very accommodating The room was next to a noisy road and it was very warm so we had to have the window open. The road noise meant very little sleep unfortunately
- David (9/5): - Very good

- Joanne (8/5): Great night sleep convenient for racers - Excellent location, very clean , quiet. Comfortable bed excellent linen . No blind in the bathroom
- John (10/5): - Staff where very friendly and nothing was a problem for them, room was clean and well maintained,
Badkamer : was zeer rudimentair. Geen aparte douche, maar douchekop boven het bad. Het duurde lang alvorens er warm water was, en het was vlug op. Heb me moeten afspoelen met koud water!
Ligging : is niet denderend, is gelegen langs een weg tussen de motorway en Ripon stad.
Voor deze prijs heb ik al in veel betere inn's overnacht.
- Michelle (9/5): - Very comfortable bed. Attentive friendly staff
- Guest (10/5): Lovely - Great location, close enough to the racecourse and Ripon centre, but far away enough for some peace and quiet. Rooms was nice and modern with clean bathrooms and lovely friendly staff. Didnt get the chance to eat as we had been to a wedding, but the menu and pizzas looked sounded amazing! Beautiful character building, with a stunning restaurant. Very lovely comfy quilt, although, somewhat warm for summer.
- Swafters (10/5): - Excellent location for Ripon Races!
- Yuko (7/5): - Easy access, comfortable and easy to have food & drinks By the road which is busy during the day
- Jane (7/5): -
- Robert (8/5): - We were cycling the Way of the Roses and it was just off route so convenient. Very good hosts, food ok but unfortunately for us chef had left the week previous and not yet replaced so fairly limited. Secure cycle storage which was important to us. Our room was ok if a bit tired, would nevertheless stay again.
- Guest (2/5): Disappointing and not somewhere we will stay again or recommend. - Poor food availability - Lack of basics such as Chips and Veg. Turning peoeple away on Sunday. The room was not servcied and no new towels provided. See above
- Christine (5/5): Enjoyable and a shout out to Callum who was having a nightmare with staffing, food and utilities but remained smiling - Location, comfortable feel and friendliness Paint peeling in bathroom.
- Guest (8/5): Enjoyed our stay there. Friendly staff - Room was nice. Good social areas with games.
Able to store our cycles in a locked shed Dining room chairs were a bit soft and low
- Graham (1/5): -
- Timothy (5/5): -
- Bryn (6/5): Okay place. Neither good nor bad - Okay place but in comparison to other places we stayed at on the Way of the Roses cycle route it was a bit pricey.
On a busy road, so not ideal for cyclists, but there are not many twin room options available in this area
- Alison (10/5): Couldn’t fault it - Staff all really friendly and helpful, room was very clean and tidy, we had a super king bed which was really comfortable. The shower was amazing. Food and breakfast spot on.
- Paul (7/5): -
- Andrew (8/5): Comfortable beds - Lovely, comfortable bed. Powerful shower. Nice landlord. Very busy and noisy from other residents locking doors in the morning. Poor selection of cask ale and quality of beer not good. Central loation difficult to get to on foot due to busy, fast road and hard to get a taxi.
- Scott (10/5): Very welcoming , cosy & traditional establishment - Great location, comfortable rooms, great atmosphere in the bar, great food . Cant fault the place.
- Lynn (10/5): Lovely stay. - The room was large, really comfy bed. Plenty of parking spaces. Within walking distance to the race course.
- Lorraine (8/5): -
- Jane (10/5): - Early closing off bar 10 pm
- Jane (8/5): Definitely recommend this accommodation. Perfect as a base to explore Ripon and surroundings. - Lovely food. We had two breakfasts and one evening meal. Service was good. There were always staff around. Amazing views over the countryside. I wish we’d known that our room looked out onto a very busy road. We would have asked for one at the back of the pub.
- nuttall (10/5): Totally enjoyable relaxing stay couldn't fault it - The breakfast was superb and the location was just right great bar staff lovely ale extremely helpful people Nothing
- Russ (10/5): Had a fantastic stay for 2 weeks at the Blackamoor Inn. Highly recommended - Easy location to Ripon. Excellent friendly atmosphere, Seamus and Callum are both great hosts and cannot do enough for you to ensure you have a comfortable stay. Pizza night on a Wednesday was great (best pizzas ever) and ready in 5 mins. Check out Callum’s Pizza sign outside. Great home cooked food and good parking. Rooms are a good size and house keeper comes in daily. Well done to all at the Blackmoor Inn. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely Nothing!
- Nathan (7/5): -
- Wiaczek (9/5): Lovely hotel, ideal location. - Beautiful location, friendly staff, ideal for our wedding visit at the nearby Newby Hall. Would've preferred a moveable shower head or if a shower cap was provided. But didn't detract from our experience.
- Pauline (10/5): Excellent family stay . Most welcoming attentive owner - Location and cleanliness , car parking
- Guest (6/5): Nice hotel let down by the food. - Nice room. Responsive staff. Well kept beer. Dinner was terrible. The ribs served up were totally inedible.
- Guest (9/5): -
- Terence (9/5): -
- Stephen (4/5): Definitely not recommended - Not a lot Breakfast cost £8 extra. Breakfast table not prepared. Full English was produced almost instantly on ordering and obviously been precooked. The egg was flat and dry, the bacon was hard and the beans were cold. I had to ask for sugar for my tea. I had to ask for toast. I had to ask for butter. There was no side plate. All very embarrassing.
- Dean (10/5): -
- Neil (10/5): - Great service friendly and clean Not applicable
- Dominic (10/5): Great staff, Great Service ,Great location. Thanks Seamus and the team -
- John (6/5): A comfortable old inn with delicious food - Our breakfast was tasty. The location is handy for Ripon and our room had a lovely open countryside view taking in the cathedral. Although our room was comfy, it could have done with a bit of a spring clean. The headboard had a layer of dust, the carpet needed vacuuming and there were cobwebs on at least one wall. The bathroom door was difficult and noisy to open, needing sanding/planing along the top. The shower completely stopped for a few moments while I was using it.
- Heather (9/5): -
- Jayne (8/5): Great place to stay. Friendly, nice food and comfortable. - Comfortable country pub
- Lisa (9/5): - Evening meal was excellent/ room and view excellent Breakfast was poor -definitely not worth the rice -poor quality ingredients and cold
- Ann (8/5): -
- Anne (10/5): Definitely recommend - Friendly welcome and comfortable, clean room. No milk for morning tea.
- David (10/5): Lovely - Lovely place, really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend.
- Ingrid (8/5): - Friendly staff. Evening meal was lovely
- PARRY (7/5): Overall good stay - Clean comfortable accommodation but not very good at communication. We were asked if we wanted breakfast in the morning so we booked a full English. When we went down the next morning there was nobody around apart from a very bemused woman who knew nothing about the breakfast but said it started at 9am which we were not told about. We were down for 8am. We weren’t the only couple as another couple came after us and had the same experience.
- ann (8/5): -
- Mark (8/5): -
- Amanda (10/5): -
- Michelle (10/5): -
- David Bottomley (9/5): - Food superb as are all the staff
- Jane (5/5): Food was excellent- not great customer service, overpriced - Location Poor customer service, room needs updating and a good clean- mould around the bath and a dirty shower
- Walker (9/5): - Pleasant in a position which gave an easy access to places in the surrounding area No lounge area
- Richard (10/5): -
- Sarah (10/5): - The whole experience was lovely from the moment we got there until the moment we left. All the staff were very nice. The room was lovely and clean. Seamus the owner was very welcoming. The food was absolutely amazing. Couldn't have asked for anything more. Many thanks to all at the Black a moor inn.
- Patrick (10/5): -
- Claire (10/5): Very good stay, would highly recommend - Very friendly staff, very accommodating and reasonable prices The room, the hospitality and the interaction x
- michelle (10/5): - There was lovely cosy atmosphere, there was games to pay by the fire and on a table after food. There was a quiet area for families. I wish I had booked another night.
- Joanne (9/5): Was just what we needed. A fantastic nights sleep . - Room was lovely , very clean and we had a great nights sleep, comfortable beds . Staff were great , friendly and attentive.
Shame we didn’t have time to try the menu but will definitely next time .!! Great place .

- paul (10/5): A very pleasant stay will be back again - Very friendly staff food excellent
- Adam Garbutt (7/5): - Room was nice and the staff were very friendly. bathroom in our room the ceiling looks like it would come down at any minute, few mould spots round bath.
- Gerard (8/5): Great location for an overnighter. - Its location within very easy driving distance of Ripon and the very friendly welcome by Seamus. Everything was very good but maybe the bathroom was a little dated. No complaints from us, though, we had a great stay. No evening meals on Mondays and Tuesdays but we went to the Water Rat in Ripon - excellent!
