Guest Reviews
- Paola (10/5): Good value for money - Good value for money
- Mary (10/5): - My husband and I agree that, MARCO, the man taking care of the reception desk and meeting all of our needs made our stay the most amazing part of our month-long travels.
- Laura (10/5): - I would highly recommend Hotel Casa Linger for stays in Venice.
The staff were warm, welcoming & polite.
The room was clean and comfortable.
I will definitely be booking a stay with them again.
- Summer (6/5): - Great location for the Venice Biennale and 4m to a vaporetto. Biggest downside is it was not clear it is a shared bathroom, it is a busted three bedroom apartment that is not dirty but cluttered like a frat house. There was no mirror and one hanger in the closet. But the staff were friendly, reachable and again, the location is perfect. The bedrooms were also very different, some tiny some large for the same cost.
- Marcus (8/5): - It was what i expected for last-minute booking for Venice. Old building, steep stairs, good character, nice staff. Good breakfast at small cafe across the street. Very convenient little store next door for groceries. Stay away from the ATM next door that fraudulently tried to take money from my accounts.
- Lyndsey (4/5): Spend a little more if you can afford it! - We booked this hotel as we were on a budget, however it was not a hotel, more a hostel. If you want a budget room to lay your head this is it. If you are not wanting a clean, comfortable and welcoming space to spend time in please avoid this accommodation. Likewise, if you have any mobility issues this is not for you. No lift and very step stairs. The rooms are very, very small as are the bathrooms. The shower was so small you could not bend and pick shampoo from the floor without knocking yourself out. Water was hot and plentiful but took around 5 minutes to come through. The hotel was very old so I understand it would be impossible to keep it pristine however the carpets were sticky and the table top oscillating fan thick with dust. There was a smell of foist in the air. We literally spent 8 hours or so there sleeping so it suited it’s purpose. Very close to st marks square and the water to and from train station. We did laugh about the worst accommodation we had ever stayed on and loved to tell the tell but if you have anything other than low standards stay elsewhere. For reference we paid over £100 per night.
- Nairys Lagos (6/5): - Where do i start?
Left bit up i know there were mosquitoes and my feet that were covered were up as well but still bit up. i left at dawn. Bathroom was clean and i was given a bottle of water i guess he saw me having an asthma attack to get upstairs.
There was a smell of rust i could not sleep because of it. The carpet needs cleaned.
The hike to get upstairs with bags omg i though i would die. This is the worse hotel italy. What is that smell? I covered the drains and still such stench. I have videos i will upload
- Anna (10/5): - Great location, very cute! Incredibly helpful staff texted us to reconfirm our arrival time after we had a delayed flight and gave us great directions about how to get to the hotel from the airport. The stairs up to the room provided an excellent workout that balanced out all the deep fried food we ate. Only downside: mosquitoes. We got absolutely eaten alive during our stay, but honestly Venice was totally worth it!
- Donna (8/5): Love U Casa Linger - Yes, you've got to climb many stairs to get to the room, but that just helps to work off all the pasta, pastries and pizza! Great location! Nice staff. Sadly no kitchen, but they did provide a hot water kettle AND a hair dryer! Hope to stay here again. Maybe the name is because once you're upstairs you get too lazy to leave, not wanting to walk up & down all those stairs, so you tend to 'Linger' hehe!
- Thomas (8/5): Decent for a couple of nights - If you're looking for an inexpensive and centrally located place to stay, this place will suite just fine.
The room I was in was clean as was the shared bathroom. The hotel is older and not modern, but was totally ok for what I paid.
I was asked to pay for a towel as I didn't have one and was in a shared room. Since this wasn't listed anywhere on the hotel.com website, the kind lady at the reception waived the €2 fee.
The only negative was that the heat wasn't on in the room and it got quite cold at night. Also, entering the property there are a LOT of stairs. If you have a lot of luggage or mobility issues, this could be a problem.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Near San Marco Square. No aircon - Really near to San Marco Square. It’s in a main big street in Castello, a neighbourhood that’s near San Marco Square, with many good restaurants around+ locals living there, which makes you meet locals if you try to approach and talk to them
The room is spacious, mine with two other guests sharing with me. BUT the problem I had is -
The room is not air-conditioned, so we had to turn on the fan. Unfortunately, the fan also blew in the direction that didn’t reach me, so I finally changed to another bed to feel the wind. Nonetheless, it’s still hot and stuffy. Mind you, Italy is really hot in summer.
Another problem is that there’s no lift, so you’ll have to carry your luggage up the stairs. Be careful if you have huge luggage.
Overall, it’s quite worth the price, considering how near it is to the very centre of Venice.
- Wing Hei (8/5): Nice and helpful hotel owner - Arrived late and still I was able to check in. The room is great however it seems like they don’t wash the blankets. The hotel owner was nice though.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This property is a family-run business on par with a small-town motel in the States. So, the carpet is worn thin, there's a lot of rambling corridors and quirks, but the staff is extremely nice and if you need anything all you have to do is ask them. Paolo and his wife Jacqueline are super sweet people that even gave the guests traditional cake for New Year's. I really had a delightful and memorable time here.
I stayed in the winter, in the five-bedroom room. You can book it as single-gender but the owner moves people around to keep the place full, so it became co-ed. Bit of a bummer, but he did at least try to keep reputable people in there together. (He mentioned that if anyone ever seemed disruptive or drunkenly, that he put them by themselves, which I appreciated.)
Each room is unique, with big wooden ceiling beams. The upstairs space was clean and there's a full kitchen, small eating space, and shared bathroom. It's a true taste of Venice, and the location is really good too--it's a neighborhood where real people live, close to the water bus and various museums. The waterfront has all the tourist shops you could need, without the crowd. There's groceries within five or ten minutes walking.
There isn't a desk in the five-person room, so just be aware of that. While the A/C was running, the air was fine, but if it got too warm, it smelled a bit moldy/musty. Probably inescapable in Venice, but I ended up okay even with my allergies, which are pretty sensitive. Hurray.
- Brendon (6/5): Just - Lights in the meal area went off every 15 seconds(on a sensor). Very steep stairs. Needed a clean.
- Inna (8/5): Centre - Nice rooms in very old (ancient ) building in the centre. Very hard to get up with steps, narrow small stairs. Not suit for big suitcases. Good value of money. Few minutes from Zaccaria. Rooms spaced ( shared, mixed). Beds you can choose, bunked or not. Two big windows in room and shower/ bathroom is inside the room. Clean. Staff is good, helpful. Surely, for short stay is reasonable place. Thank you (for hostel).
- James (6/5): - Location was great, just enough away from the chaos of St Marks Square but close enough to the huddle and bussle when you wanted it.
The nearby cafe and piazza are lovely.
The hotel is dated though and reception being on the second floor means a lot of steep stairs; fortunately there were handrails or my mother would have struggled. Carrying bags up them certainly wasn’t easy.
Staff were friendly, but no room clean between the two nights we stayed there.
- Ignacio Javier (8/5): Lindo lugar!
- Luc (8/5): Casa Linger offers you a great historic area ! - Casa Linger offers a great historic area (with wifi in house and across the street's great coffee shops!). The one single room with double bed has high ceiling and one big window and is quiet. If you are lucky get that room!
Volveria a alojarme
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good location. Basic accomodation - Very good location. You get what you pay basically so overall I can't complain. Staff could be nicer though. Recommended for a night or two.
- Patricia (8/5): - it was a little hard to find...but the location is good for that price.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Shared bathroom and shared shower. It's a hostel, not a hotel. Very misleading name.
- visitor (4/5): Nice staff - 48+ steps to go up, no elevator. Old bed spread and curtains. Very old carpet. You’ve got to share bathroom with other rooms. Shower was too small to move around. no napkin. The bed sheet were clean though.
Paul was very nice. He was very friendly and helpful.
- Elisabeth (8/5): Hotel in a convenient central part of Venice - Stayed six nights in the five-bedroom hostel type of room. Right outside the room there is a new, very clean kitchen with sitting area, very convenient for eventual breakfast etc. Personnel very friendly.
Only minor point is the climb up the many stairs with a suitcase, but personnel was helpful (and in older buildings in Venice, climbing stairs is part of daily living !).
Very well situated not far from Riva degli Schiavoni (vaporetto stop Arsenale) and next to Campo Bandiera e Moro, a lovely place to see real Venetians sit at night and watch their kids playing football etc.
Many small shops, restaurants and bars/coffeeshops in the neighborhood.
Will definitely return there when visiting Venice
- Verified traveler (8/5): good location - Nice location close to square.
But there were so many mosquitoes in a room. For late check-in after 10pm, I needed to pay 10 euro more for each hour.
- Fulvio (2/5): - It's kind of dormitory, since I thought it was in center and cheap,I chose but I didn't find well.Lots of rooms are connected to just one bathroom and toilet,so you should wait long.I paid city tax more than it was written on the website.Pay attention if you have heavy luggage or leg problems because there are very difficult stairs and the responsible person was very rude
- Daniel (2/5): The worst experience in my life - The owner did not open the door because I was late due to a delay in my flight. He told me I had to pay extra but he didn't finally open the door just because it was late. He let me alone at 1 am with no reason, as it was just a matter of opening the door and letting me in. It is not my fault that the flight is delayed. And I had already paid 50 euro for sleeping that night in a shared dorm. I had to sleep in the street as everything was fully booked. It was so cold.
- Oscar (6/5): - Very nice staff in an excellent location. Has a hostel feel rather than hotel. Beautiful view from the windows in our triple room with san marco tower in the distance. Not for anyone with impaired mobility due to steep small staira and no lift. Very clean with large towels provided and above average bathroom size for italy. Unfortunately the shower has very little pressure and fluctuated between hot and cold.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Bad experience - It wasn't a pleasant or memorable stay.
Our first night we spent in a damp and dirty room, then I complained and threatened to leave then we we're given a new room which was marginally better. THE BATHROOM was mouldy wet and damm right dirty.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Tutto perfetto , staff molto disponibile stanze pulite ed accoglienti , ci ritornerò sicuramente
- Adelina (10/5): it was like a private apartment with a shared bdrm - It was a nice , easy accessible apartment, is a beautiful and calm neighborhood. It was a shared bedroom of 5 (women only).
- linda (6/5): Stairs, stairs, noise but clean - If you want more stairs, this is the place to stay. If you want the sound of glass bottles in trash emptied at midnight through your open balcony (only means of air), this is definitely your place!
Rooms are clean - stayed in the "apartment" across the street from hotel because I simply couldn't bear the thought of carrying my bags of 4 flights of stairs. The apartment is a 5 bed dorm and that's what I paid for, so that was fine.
- Katy (4/5): just good location...
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The 5 bedroom shared dormitory is very small and you are literally sleeping right next to the person beside you. And it gets very stuffy because 5 is way too many people for a room that size.
- Marcelo (6/5): Nice hotel close to everything - Very nice staff, ready to help with your needs. Hotel is centrally located in Venice, close to main things to do and transportation to other locations. Room size was great.
- steve (4/5): - Good location, nice staff, but moldy and no screens on Windows so lots of misquotes.
- Carol and Leo (6/5): Nice location. Pretty basic accommodations - Up three flights of stairs, not the greatest first impression on entering building. Walking distance to everything but off the main tourist roads. Very, very basic but room was clean and quiet. No air conditioner but good fan.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - We didn't enjoy our stay here for a few reasons. The shared bathroom is tiny (only one toilet and shower for the whole floor) and not very clean at all. Furthermore, you have to walk through the hotel lobby to get there. The room was fairly small as well, but the size wasn't too much of an issue. The towels were extra money to use. Overall, the shared bathroom was really inconvenient and made the stay rather unpleasant. Pay a little more and stay somewhere else.
- amorelle (6/5): Easy to find and close to main ferry terminal. - The stairs are steep and many to the level of the rooms. So if you bag is heavy, take you time as the hotel "family" staff will not assist you and show no interest in your distress. The room was comfortable but remember to shut the windows as the mosquitoes in summer are vicious!! We had our own private bathroom and it was great.
- katie (8/5): Central base - everything we needed! - We wanted somewhere central, clean and friendly and Casa Linger ticked the boxes .
It is very basic and small rooms BUT the convenience and friendliness makes up for that. It's very real and authentic which made our stay really memorable - thank you!
- Jayprakash (6/5): overall it's ok - Hi,this hotel is very close to world famous St.Marco.room was big n silent environment.
- Sheena (8/5): Great budget hotel! - While the accommodations weren't ammmmazing, they were good for the price we paid (in comparison to overpriced Venice hotels). We had a double room but a shared bathroom. The shared bathroom was very clean. We were on the second floor so didn't have a view, but the location was great. We were easily able to get to the water taxi and walk to Piazza San Marco. The restaurants around the hotel were delicious (the ones on the small streets, not along the water). I would definitely stay here again when traveling on a budget.
- Clara (8/5): creaky ceiling - Really nice neighbourhood. We had breakfast downstairs at a cafe every morning. Bed was not the most comfortable. Nice and airy rooms. The ceiling above us creaked alot, but i guess it is only for our room. Staff were very nice and speaks English.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Not quite a good place to stay - We thought we got a good deal but when we got there we didn't realize we have to share a bathroom with others. They only clean the room every 3 days. The bed was really uncomfortable that cause my sleepless nights. I heard neighbors talking loud, no TV sets or other complimentary soap/shampoo. If you have a heavy luggage, goodluck carrying those in a very steep staircase. However, this place have a nice location which we don't mind so much. I just wish we could have pick a better place to stay.
