Guest Reviews
- Sang Woo (7/5): -

- Nadine Benedikter (9/5): - I had a nice stay at Hotel Brajas. The room was clean, comfortable, and had all the essentials for a short stay. The bed was cozy, and the Wi-Fi worked well throughout my visit.
The staff were friendly and helpful, and the check-in process was quick and easy. The hotel is well located, close to restaurants, shops, and central Antananarivo.
- Patrice (6/5): - L’hotel Brajas
- Jugernauth (8/5): Very good - Very helpful staff , the boss is a humble guy , comfortable bed , 5 minutes walk to city centre, I feel myself at home
- Ravi (4/5): Disappointing - Only the smile of the staff. Water shortage which is a very important aspect.
- Alain (8/5): Very good -
- Karolina (5/5): Dirty:(( - Good location, nice breakfast. They also allowed us to the room early in the morning which was really nice! The most important- it was dirty: bedsheets, towels - quite disgusting to be honest. Stuff didnt speak english. Also when we asked about taxi price for Lemur Park they said 60 000. After one hour when we were ready to go they said 100 000. Same with taxi to the airport price- first 80 000, the next day- 100 000.
- Ashish (6/5): Pleasant - Breakfast was good and staff were very nice and welcoming. No parking,Power cuts were frequent.
- Robson (8/5): Very good - Everything Nothing
- Umar (3/5): Poor -
- Umar (1/5): Bad - It's vey bad experience. They charge me 79 euro additional. Not understand English as well
- Dowlut (8/5): Honestly a very good value for money hotel. I was only in transit for 2 nights … can’t complain. - Tried it for a change … very good value for money . No lift. Hard work 😂😂
- David (8/5): - I likes the hotel & staff for the most part and the food & drink were very good. But the Customer service was lacking, I asked for help with suggested transportation tours but got No response. The AIr Conditioning wasn’t working in my room and the TV had just one French channel & nothing in English. As I understood it was not safe to walk around ar night, There was nothing to do but look at my phone or read a book… No TV News No TV entertainment in my room… rather boring…
- David (6/5): - TV channels didn’t exist, AC did not work, Door access was very intermittent, request for service was under-par…Other than that I liked staff & the premises & location
- Ben (7/5): Good - The view Noice
- The (9/5): Superb -
- Imambaccus (7/5): Good -
- Charlotte (9/5): Friendly staff in a hotel that feels like home. Great location, breakfast & decor. Will stay again! - I've stayed at Brajas a few times when visiting Madagascar, I particularly like the decor & location. To add to that, this time the staff were exceptionally helpful - I needed to leave some luggage which I did and picked up on return to Tana, and they helped me to secure taxis and were attentive to other requests. There are kettles, fridges and utensils in the room & great lighting. Would stay again! The wifi is hard to connect to, I knew this before staying so would recommend you using local restaurants/cafes if you need to connect and get information quickly. I stayed in two different rooms, a larger more expensive room which has a fantastic view of the city and a large bath - however - the one issue was that there was not a curtain/door so you need to take care when putting on the tape so it doesn't splash over the large bath. A very minor issue though, as all in all - was great. The floorboards in rooms above can also be a little squeky.
- Stijn (7/5): Good - Nice and very helpful staff Nothing, room was as seen on pictures
- Joshua (8/5): Very good -
- Bárbara (8/5): Very good -
- Traveller-ch (9/5): nice hotel, can recommend it, would book it again - - Location (it's up the hill, you either take a taxi or taking the stairs to the Av. de L'Independance. At night you better take a taxi, around MGA 10'000)
- friendly english speaking receptionist
- breakfast included (coffee or tea, white bread, butter, jam, eggs, yoghurt and banana on request)
- my room was at the backside of the buidling was very quiet. Front side you have a nice view from the 3rd floor but also the noise from the street
- bahtroom with a showerdoor
- seems to be no problem to bring a guest over night - common water problem, they don't have enough watertanks behind the building
- the wooden bed in my room on the 1st floor was broken
- mold in the shower
- no bahtroom door, might be not convenience if you have a guest
- Traveller-ch (9/5): nice hotel, recommended, would stay there again - - Location (it's up the hill, you either take a taxi or taking the stairs to the Av. de L'Independance. At night you better take a taxi, around MGA 10'000)

- stephanie (6/5): - We came to the JIOI and it was accesible to all the facilities. The staff was extremely helpful and very friendly
- Tandeo (8/5): Overall had a good and comfortable stay - The proximity to other places in town. Also, the staff as well as the owner were very welcoming. The wi-fi could be better.
- Nino (10/5): Best hospitality imaginable - Had a fantastic stay at this hotel. It was my very first time in Madagascar and did not know what to expect. The second me and my friends arrived Michael (hotel manager) was standing at the lobby with a warm welcome. From that point on he took care of everything, took us to the nicest restaurants in the city nicest bars, etc. He even set us up with an amazing driver to explore the rest of the country for 2 weeks. Additionally, his team was also great, any request for any item and his staff would literally run to the shop if the hotel did not have it themselves.
If you are not familiar with the country this is the hotel that you absolutely need!
- Thanh (3/5): Terrible - staffs are nice mould everywhere, the shower is dirty, the sinks and the toilets don’t work. the floor is noisy. i couldnt have a good night sleep. was a nightmare
- Lukilola (8/5): Very good - The ambience and the design of the hotel was very appealing.
- Blom (5/5): first impression, what is advertised is completely different to what you get. they should update the pictures. - friendly staff
comfortable bed I booked for 2 people but the room was not even properly prepared for one.
mini bar was empty
hairdryer not working
the food was very disappointing and more than 25 000ar
the (free toiletries) was only for one person
the bathrobes were old and over washed
breakfast was OK but all good was cold
- Nitish (2/5): Very poor -
- Nitish (2/5): Not value for money - The location is fine. Close to Analakely. Super poor wifi connection. Only one router is to be shared with the whole hotel.
The staff working at the restaurant was not professional. As if I bothered her to perform her job.
Clear discrimination was noted while we were paying the same fees there. Although the breakfast was free, it was not worth it.
Really need improvements.
- Dominique (7/5): Affordable stay in tana but not the best experience - Affordable stay in tana.
Cosy room The staff was smoking in the reception.
Not very flexible, i had to leave early morning to take a bus, the breakfast could not be arranged.
- Jean-pierre (1/5): do not stay at this hotel - the staff are so rude! the breakfast is very bad. very bad presentation! the dishes are dirty
- Manav (5/5): Passable -
- Tanveer (9/5): it was pleasant stay in this hotel - it’s good , staff is friendly , cooperative at night on upper floor , if some one walks in the corridor , it is very noisy and it disturbs the sleep
- Oliver (7/5): Ok place. nice enough staff. wifi does not work. great shower -
- Nicolas (6/5): Pleasant -
- Cosmin (8/5): Very good - I appreciate that I had a 3rd floor room with nice view and I enjoyed the breakfast The key card doesn't work, was tried 3 times. No payment by card, no signal. Difficult english level and support to change money at the best rate or to explain coming with arguments. Slow movement in reaction or confusion about answers
- Hannah (8/5): Very good -
- Hannah (10/5): Our favourite hotel in Mada - Quirky bohemian decor, exceptionally friendly and helpful owner and staff, fab location, great value for money. We booked it randomly first but will come back on our way out. Nothing
- Ajay (5/5): Passable -
- Hashim (7/5): Good -
- Sabeeha (9/5): Superb -
- Brett (6/5): Pleasant -
- Marko (5/5): Passable - Restoran was ok but slow service Furnirure is old, wifi slow,í can't lock my room
- Abdulnasser (1/5): Bad hotel - No breakfast the restaurant was closed Everything is bad and Old furniture and very bad bedsheets and non clean at all,, highly non recommend it
- Verified traveler (4/5): - I liked the breakfast and bar but the toilet in my room is not working. The air con was leaking.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I like most things about my stay at this hotel. The staff are friendly and polite, extras are reasonably priced and I will stay there again in the future.
I think staff should inform customers when they book in that larger deluxe rooms are available at extra cost. My room was small so I would have paid for an upgrade had I known.
- Petter (8/5): Kind staff, safe vibe - Kind and helpful staff. Clean rooms and fresh in-house restaurant. The hotel is located uphill which gives its guests an overview of the road beneath.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was very convenient, the property is in the heart of the city . The stuff were professional and very pleasant, i will recommend this property
- Patrice (8/5): Je conseille - Très bon rapport qualité prix
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- anne marie (10/5): Hôtel Charmant - Séjour agréable accueil chaleureux personnel disponible et serviable bonne ambiance au calme
Porteur de bagages efficace .Chambre bien équipée réellement à recommander .
Anne marie Mathieu
- andrew (4/5): Rip off hotel - I payed all fees and tax's then was made to pay them again as I checked out. I had no internet so could not check. The internet was very poor and only worked in the lobby. As you sit there the staff are asking you if you need anything every 10 seconds. The drinks and food are expensive compared to other hotels. Its half way up a mountain. If your a goat its great. The sound proofing is poor. I was on the 2nd floor and the wooden floor above was very very loud. The walls are very thin and I could here everything the couple next door was doing. The music from the bar downstairs went on until very late. The room was clean and beds were great. However the room was very small for the money. Best hotel in this range is central far far better.
- Mika (6/5): - The owner and his friends are having too loud parties at the bar normally on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
- Mika (6/5): - Far too often bar / restaurant staff ( women) were unpolite. Their "main" purpose seemed to be to use their own mobile phones instead of serving customers
Madame COLOMBE
et madame HENINTSOA
- linda (8/5): Clean and comfortable, friendly and helpful staff. - Nice place to hang out for a few days waiting for my flight back to the US
- said (10/5): Very good return on money. Happy :) - Lovely rooms, takes you back in time. Clean and everything in it.
- said (10/5): Very good quality for price. Very happy :) - Price is fantastic $29 and the room is clean and fantastic
- Marshall (10/5): Clean room, good wifi & resto. Toilet not private. - Our stay was very good.
We contacted them via the email requested from Hotels.com and arranged a car to pick us up from the airport. It was there for us as requested and saved us from the many taxi drivers hassling for fares. We are intrepid travelers in our 30's and found it the easiest way to find transport at the same amount had we taken a cab.
The area is what it is and if you have business in Anatanarivo then you know where you need to be. If you are there only for an overnight as we were, then you won't be venturing out except to be driven somewhere. Anatanarivo is a hilly city with winding confusing streets that, if you're local would be simple to navigate but don't think about driving or walking, take a cheap taxi that the front desk can call for you.
The room was very clean and comfortable with a little (stand and look) balcony. The only thing, and as mentioned in other reviews, is that there is nothing but bamboo roll-down blinds separating the bathroom/toilet from the room and bed only a couple of feet away, so ALL noises are heard. In order to provide some privacy one wore headphones and listened to loud music while the other went about their bathroom rituals.
If you are infirm/have a lot of baggage, the stairs will be tiring for you. There are a lot from the street and then more to the rooms - we were on the third floor - without an elevator.
We ate dinner on the resto patio. The service, pizzas and breakfast were great. WiFi was very fast!
- Rickie and Wanda (8/5): - You should be aware that most people in Madagascar speak little to no English.
- Ellen (8/5): - Safe location, attentive staff.
- tze him (6/5): good food - the staffs are not very helpful, if you ask them for some informations, they will say they ask for you but never get back to me. there are some small cockroaches in room. but overall is okay.
- chan (8/5): hotel is good - food is perfect
- ? (8/5): One of the best in madagascar - I've been to many hotels in madagascar (not in Antananarivo) and it's the cleanest and most comfortable hotel I've been in madagascar. And as a little extra i have to say that the WIFI is, compared to the others, very fast.
- Beinta (6/5): Hollydays - The hotel was ok. The food was not good and breakfast was bad. No filling up.
- YONG (6/5): Fair price for stay in Tana - top floor has good view of the city but wooden floor is making loud noises when you walk inside your room. Shower water pressure is low.
- YONG (6/5): good price to arrange airport shuttle - breakfast included, good price to arrange airport shuttle.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great staff - The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms are great and clean except that the bathrooms do not have wall separating them from the room. The location is close to the city center and other attraction.
