Guest Reviews
- Louis (5/5): Just fair - Breakfast was excellent, location was very good The room was rather claustrophobic, what was advertised was one king sized bed and a smaller one but it wasn’t so on the ground
- Jite (7/5): -
- Osarumen (3/5): Bad - The cook was good The bathroom was very dirty from mould to dirty grout in the bathroom.
- Mofe (7/5): -
- Paul (8/5): Awesome - Breakfast was good and the location of the hotel is at the crnter of the town. None
- dyer (5/5): - The location and the friendly staff The property needs updating the bathroom needs an intensive cleaning and maintenance. Bathroom was full of algae and mound. The flooring in the bedroom was unstable and slaps on floor was coming off making the flooring very uneven

- Ebegue (10/5): Fantastic - Location is good.
Breakfast is awesome
Staff very cordial Internet is very frustrating.
I don’t mind paying extra to get internet 24/7.
- Oluseun (7/5): The food was excellent, the staffs were very hospitable and professional! - I had beans with plantain and garden eggs sause with some tomatoes gravy with fish. It tasted heavenly!! My only negative experience was the rug on the corridor on the second floor where my room was. It triggered my dustmite allergy.
- Udoh (9/5): -
- Egba (10/5): - I like there bed
- Hadiza (8/5): -
- Oluwaseyi (7/5): - Being asked to pay before check-in. While this is not an issue itself. However, it would be helpful if guests were informed by email before arrival so they can prepare for this payment during check in.
I made a reservation for myself and a guest, who arrived at the hotel before me while I was about to fly from Abuja. He was unfortunately delayed at the reception because he was asked to pay before checking in. I was forced to transfer the payment while at the airport. I wondered what would have happened if I was unreachable. I originally made the booking from the UK through booking.com and I had expected to pay during check out. I am happy to pay at check-in but I would have been very helpful if I had been informed by the hotel of this policy.
- Ramsey (5/5): -
- Samuel (9/5): - Staff were very helpful

Overall it was fine. Everyone was friendly of course and helpful.
This was my third vacation in Benin and it was the best hotel out of the others I had tried.

- Uwagboe (10/5): Exceptional - Protea Hotel Benin City is in a very nice and safe location. The staff are extremely professional, and they go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable. The breakfast is very good with lots and lots of varieties. I really enjoyed my stay and felt very safe. The carpets in the hallways need changing or a thorough deep cleaning needed ASAP.

- Paul (8/5): - The Espresso machine was down, and that was something I was looking forward to. The star were great and very attentive
- Margaret (8/5): Good. Will revisit - The breakfast had varied local and international options. But the best part was, any meal could be made to order upon request It would have been great if drinking bottled water was readily available without being charged. For me who had dietary issues, I would have like to see calorie controlled options.
The pool was good but hardly used because of its location. It is not a good feeling to be oogled by non guests
- Josephine (10/5): - Good

- A.j. (9/5): This is the best hotel in Benin City! - It’s very western and the beds are not hard as a rock like most of the hotels in Benin City. The staff is also very welcoming and attentive. There are some road constructions happening in front of the hotel so you have to use the back access to get to the hotel.
- obofoni (10/5): - I had a great experience staying at Protea Benin City. The staff were professional. Checking in and out was smooth.
- Aimiuwu (7/5): Good -
- Victor (8/5): - Property has been managed well over the years. However the use of rugs on the corridors leading to the rooms should be reconsidered so the public spaces can smell fresher

- Ehinon (10/5): - The Protea Hotel will be my choice for stay in Benin moving forward. The showers were always hot & air conditioner, always cold. The staff was extremely accommodating and prepared to help or offer guidance. The beds could be softer but that’s the standard in the area. I always felt secure about my belongings during my stay. The cleaner was an absolute pleasure every morning, offering new sheets & towels at request. Overall a great stay. Be sure to try the grilled catfish & the ice cold Heineken on draft.
- Iguwe (10/5): Exceptional -
