Guest Reviews
- Diane (10/5): Superb - The position , ex staff.
V helpful . Beautiful hotel Nothing
- Douglas (8/5): Expensive but great seafront location. - Food quality good. Staff friendly and helpful. Room clean and comfortable. Handy for bus connections to Swanage, Poole and Bournemouth. Nice indoor pool. Rooms and food are expensive. Great sea-front location but no shops or restaurants nearby. A half-hour walk to buy a newspaper.
- Maria (10/5): A magical experience , fabulous - Superb location , wonderful friendly staff and fabulous breakfast 😃 Nothing !
- Richard (8/5): - A somewhat dated beachfront Hotel adjacent to some of the most expensive real estate in the UK

- Darren (7/5): - Things we enjoyed:
Staff were lovely, front desk couldn't be more helpful and the cleaning team were thorough and did a great job.
Room was great obviously the view was awesome
Food was good quality, breakfast in particularly, great variety
EV car charging was easy, all three chargers were working and available during Bank Holiday weekend Things we liked less:
Service at dinner took ages, the staff we're literally running around but there were just too few of them.
Cost of drinks in the hotel was incredibly high, large gin and tonic cost us £15
Outside of these things we had a great stay.
- Lisa (1/5): Will never return - Location Old, worn, unacceptable bathroom.
Cold
Extremely poor service in restaurant, didn’t even get my food & told to late to for them to offer my meal.
Do not get a harbour view room, looked out onto side of flats and to the left a chain link ferry to was extremely noisy.

- sandra (7/5): Staff helpful, had a lovely break. - The location and views were amazing Hotel in need of updating.
- Rokas (10/5): -
- Julie (5/5): Not good if you have walking difficulties as staff are totally vacant in seeing a problem or disability - The location was good. No lift going to the floor I was in. I was put in room 337 and no walk in shower. I had a walking stick and staff clearly see and told me there was only a few steps. The first night when I got up the second floor to walk that long distance I collapsed on the floor unable to get up. I had to get to the fire exit stairs which you have to go up to get to room 337. That is where I managed to pull myself up on to my feet. I just managed to get to the room. The receptionists told me there was only a couple of stairs even when I said I will have problems. She was obviously to my circumstance. Would not recommend to others.
- Beverley (4/5): Location absolutely lovely. Very overpriced to stay in a very tired hotel. - Location excellent.
Hotel staff thin on the ground and not very enthusiastic.
Room bin not emptied taps in bathroom not very clean.
Breakfast fair. Tables not cleared when visitors left. I felt sorry for the staff. Not many of them. Did not look happy (only the security guard in the evening of our stay. Seemed happy in his role)
- Ray (10/5): Lovely old Hotel with all modern amenities - Excellent location bus routes right by the very scenic Sandbanks ferry to travel further leaving the car parked in Hotels very spacious managed car parking system. And all the staff most friendly and professional and quick to sort any problems that arose, lovely old building with excellent accommodation and panoramic views from all sides of Hotel. Nothing all excellent
- Paul (8/5): Lovely stay and again, amazing location - Location was the attraction. Also the spa facilites. Very expensive
- Scott (10/5): -
- Iman (10/5): I will stay there forever - The view was amazing I will stay there forever the name is heaven it’s tru heaven on earth
- sabrina (4/5): disappointing - Staff were friendly.
Breakfast was nice and had a good variety of food and drinks.
The location was beautiful, with fantastic views.
Heated outdoor pool was good. The room was very small, old and tired. The carpet was old and stained, the cold tap in the bathroom didn't work, had to brush our teeth in hot water.
Massively overpriced for one nights stay.

- Kailen (7/5): The location is the luxury not the hotel - The location is defiantly what you pay for. It’s was lovely and quiet and out of the way of the centre which is what I wanted. I loved watching the ferry service next to the hotel. The staff at reception was super helpful. The breakfast on Sunday morning wasn’t its finest. We arrived before it got busy and most of the food plates was empty and needed top up. I waited 20 minutes for beans to come out by then I ate my food and didn’t bother. The scrambled eggs were like soup and needed to be cooked for longer. Luckily the manager came out of nowhere and saved the breakfast and whipped his staff into shape.
The bedrooms are severely outdated with only 4 plugs in the whole entire room and non next to the bed. One was half way up the wall next to nothing. We also had a lamp that wasn’t plugged in due to no plugs next to it and just for decoration. The toilet had stains in and the shower had pour water pressure and was feeling like it was dribbling out of the head.
- Heather (5/5): Fabulous location but overpriced for what it actually offers as a hotel. - The property is in a stunning location and we loved the view from our balcony. The food at the restaurant was excellent. The outdoor pool and jacuzzi were also fab thanks to the view. Felt like the location did all the heavy lifting. For a four star hotel, you except room service or excellent amenities. The bathroom was very outdated and was a bit surprised to have cheap mini shampoo/conditioner etc. if it were not for the location and views, I would say the hotel was very overpriced for what you get.
- Nicholas (8/5): -
- Khadija Jamal (10/5): -
- Laura (7/5): Perfect location in perfect weather - Grand hotel needs an update.
Spa area is closer to leisure center than a proper spa
- Matt (7/5): -
- Emily (8/5): -
- Lynda (9/5): A lovely place that just needs perking up. - The location is superb and the staff are lovely. The restaurant offers a good range of food. It’s looking a bit tired. The door to one of our cupboards was half hanging off. We booked the top of the range room, it would be nice to have a few extras that we get at other places, like dressing gowns and generous toiletries, they were quite tiny.
- Joyce (9/5): Overall stay fantastic - Fantastic room, view, facilities & location
Reception staff could not do enough for us, really welcoming, we also had a lovely meal with staff who gave a lovely welcome too. We went into the bar before dinner, bar person not very welcoming, we got the impression he did not enjoy being their.
it does not cost anything to use basic manners.
- Monowara (8/5): It was a great experience - Staff behavior,service,food None

- nicola (7/5): -
- H (3/5): We hooped for a treat , but what a Disappointment , - Staff are very helpful to accommodating, and helped us to move to sister hotel ,as We couldn’t continue our stay in this hotel duo to way too many issues with the room , near the hotel seasonal shut down. We booked this stay as a special treat for our anniversary , seems the hotel still the same But in mush worse condition , much needed in TLC .
My wife and I were shocked &very saddened to see the state this hotel is turned too.
Room , bathroom vanity , carpets ,lift , all in a serious need of repair and maintenance ,
( it was like meeting an old friend on its last leg).
Hope it will be saved and get it back to what it use to be a great place indeed .
- Nikhil (6/5): -
- Kirsty (10/5): -
- Richard (10/5): -
- Akin (8/5): Good. - No air-conditioning/climate control in the rooms. Nights were uncomfortable.
- Ted (10/5): -
- Debra (10/5): Fantastic location for a classic hotel. Good quality and a relaxing break. - Great breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff.
Fantastic sea views. Lovely clean beaches.
- Billy (9/5): -
- Ingrid (10/5): A relaxing stay in a characterful old hotel with helpful staff and stunning views of the sea - Fantastic location overlooking the ferry and views of Studland Needed a little bit of repainting on the exterior
- Knibbs (10/5): Very nice hotel staff very helpful and friendly - Food very good Nothing
- Roger (10/5): We had a lovely break, weather was good to us and we enjoyed our stay in the Haven Hotel - The overall booking was what we had hoped for, excellent room with sea view. good room service, evening dinner was a little restrictive for our choice but still pretty good, breakfast excellent. Bar facilities very comfortable. nothing

- Lynda (9/5): -
- JEP (8/5): -
- Martin Isles (7/5): -
- diana (5/5): The staff were very polite except the manager who came to sort our room key , as it wouldn’t work when we first tried it - Lovely location , except for the view of the crane - would have been good to know this was there . I think it was expensive for what you get , and there is a small window for breakfast .
- Geoffrey James (10/5): - Excellent Location, Scenery.
- Matthew (7/5): -
- Barry (10/5): - Great location, great breakfast, comfortable bed
- Paul (8/5): Excellent location and spa facilities - restaurant menu, a little narrow.. - It was good, but not much variety, eg smoked salmon, eggs benedict. Curley for toast had to be asked for every day…. Bar charged £14 for an Irish coffee, which was subsequently refunded.
- Steve (10/5): -
- Michael (9/5): - Everything
- Thomas (9/5): Nice break - Room good value for money, coffee machine superb, good location shame about all the building work but seasons end Limited dinner menu
- karen (9/5): Perfect weekend get away - Location and food But dated
- Stephen (9/5): -
- Peter (2/5): - The room was terrible .we were told we would have courtyard view .we have stayed at Haven Hotel several times before over a few years always been really happy with our rooms.we were put in room 205 fully frosted window that was locked shut it was very windy outside we had to push tissue in it to stop it rattling .overnight there was a.continous load noise from a generator or something outside window we couldn't see out to see what it was. Also a dog was barking on corridor opposite for some time in evening .then a noisy group came in at 2-30 am didn't get any sleep at all.it was our wedding anniversary and my 80th birthday ,it was only for 1 night and I should have complained at time put up with it .I felt ill all next day because of the stress .we went on to stay at.Durley Dene hotel in Bournemouth for next two nights and it was lovely.not one problem .I just hope Haven look into this as it ruined our weekend we won't be staying there again
- ian (10/5): - Quaint hotel fantastic Location highly recommended We had to go home
- Anna (7/5): -
- NEIL (8/5): -
- Elias (10/5): -
- rockybear (10/5): - Incredible facilities available and ace breakfast and lovely touches throughout and mind-blowing location.
The staff are some of the loveliest young humans I have ever encountered happily engaging in exceptional service roles. One of the highlights was for lovely the other guests were also
- Susan (9/5): Never fails to be wonderful - Stunning views, wonderful staff, classic yet warm and welcoming hotel. An old family favourite. Thank you - a wonderful time! I wish you stayed open all year around.
- nigel (9/5): - Amazing location with easy access to beach
- Maureen (10/5): Excellent - We enjoyed the whole experience, superb setting, fabulous sea view from our balcony, comfy bed and an excellent breakfast. The staff were very pleasant, and also very good parking. We will be returning. There was nothing to dislike.
- Patrick (7/5): - Lovely views. Restaurant ok for breakfast. Water pressure poor Bits of plastic in my beer.
- Cleisser (5/5): we were disappointed and let down by the hotel. - The location is good, facing the sea and next to the ferry. What I didn't like about the hotel were the rooms they made available to us. I had texted them well before our stay, letting them know it was a special occasion. I thought they would reserve an oceanfront view, and I thought they would welcome us better. All the suggestions I gave them in the messages I sent them well before we went, they couldn't fulfill unless I paid. The only thing they left for us in the room was a Happy Birthday card with chocolates (they didn't even put the birthday boy's name on the card to make it more personalized; I don't think that would have been any trouble). They made two rooms available to us, one with a heater that didn't work and the other with a broken open window. We asked for a change; the woman took a long time to find one, and I ended up sleeping on the cramped sofa, waking up sore. We found the restaurant prices very expensive. The pool staff were very attentive and helpful. The bar and reception staff attended to us, but there were delays in fulfilling our requests.
- Paul (10/5): -
- Rob (9/5): awesome, great location, old style but great and clean - Awesome location, clean. Nothing
- Jennifer (9/5): It’s like being on a liner looking out to the sea and the pool is a joy. - We love the spa, outdoor pool and access to the beach. Lunch and evening meals offer a limited choice. The food we ordered was expensive and uninteresting. All the effort seems to have gone into the verbal description and appearance, rather than the flavour.
- Judith (8/5): - Sea view wonderful! Staff slow to respond and sometimes forgot about us in the restaurant or not in reception when required which was disappointing. Lady in reception on the phone for ages this morning when we wanted to check out so we gave up and left our key cards on the desk. Not good!!
- Henrietta (8/5): I would recommend this hotel, great staff and good position & with parking - I didn’t have breakfast but my son did and thought very good and used the spa & liked it a lot. N/A
- Barry (10/5): The stay made our 50th Wedding Anniversary that more special - Was plentiful and wholesome
- Andrew (8/5): -
- Karen (8/5): Stayed for the view which did not disappoint. The room was pleasant with everything you required. - The location was good But like old peoples home
- Colin (8/5): - Always great because of the location
- ANNE (8/5): top notch - room dreat
breakfast very good
location superb It's a very old hotel with some aspects rather worn, but that's part of the charm
- Natalie (7/5): Great and will return - Location is brilliant Whilst our stay was enjoyable and comfortable - there is a need to invest in the pool area
- Nick (8/5): - Superb location
- Paul (10/5): - Fantastic hotel, close to the chain ferry and bus services, beauitful sea veiws, on the beach amazing spa and out door heated pool, fantastic service, cant fault it, what a gem, also dog friendly
- Thi ngoc diep (8/5): -
- Andy (9/5): Very nice but some things could be better. - Location Lack of choice on menu
Dirty toilet in reception area.
Lack of Fridge in room
- Tim (8/5): -
- Caroline (8/5): - Location, views, swimming pool Restaurant menu fairly limited, particularly for vegetarians. Bar only had Chardonnay and Vinho Verdi white wines in stock. Apparently they were awaiting a delivery.
- steven (8/5): - Overpriced, food and drink, inconsiderate people above our room woke us uo 4am, talking laughing and dog barking.
- Jayne (10/5): Beautiful stay - Absolutely beautiful area. Good place to stay to explore the area. Restaurant excellent, all staff friendly. Would stay again. Really comfy bed.
- Karin (3/5): Werde nicht mehr kommen, das einzig gute an dem Hotel ist die Lage - Die Lage ist sehr toll Das Haus ist heruntergekommen. Das Frühstück mäßig. Der Service war freundlich aber inkompetent.
- Nicholas (10/5): - Partners 60th birthday
- Nick (8/5): A good place for a relaxing sleep and good breakfast - Location, great breakfast
- William (8/5): - Nice veiws in lounge and restaurants. Dissapointed with no veiw from room.and problems a few times with lift not working
- Karen (6/5): Our stay was pleasant, good food and location, would visit sandbanks again but a different hotel . - The location was very good .
Parking at the property was good . The property was a bit dated and needed some repairs the lift kept getting stuck between floors .
The breakfast could have been hotter .
Didn’t see any form of management present at the hotel .
- Sam (5/5): -
- Anita (7/5): - Good location, hotel looks a bit tired lacking in talc
- Christopher (7/5): comfortable and lovely short break - room was good - breakfast excellent - hotel location fantastic
- Chris (8/5): - We liked where the hotel was situated on the beach at sandbanks
- James (10/5): Overall, more good than bad. - Nice hotel with great facilities. Outdoor pool is warm and sauna / steam rooms were decent. However, I expected more of a view from a 'premium room' (picture attached). Annoyingly, the leisure centre (roof in picture) made an annoying humming throughout the night.
Check-in was probably the fastest I've ever encountered and all staff with the exception of one miserable bar worker were absolutely excellent. Leisure staff were partcularly excellent.
Breakfast was very nice and dining has great views out to sea.
