DizzyBlonde23 (10/5): Great stay - Stayed at the hotel with a friend for 3 nights before a tour of Nepal and had a lovely stay. The Location/General Hotel Layout The location of the hotel was ideal and on a side street just off the main road in Thamel. Whilst the decoration of the hotel is not to everyone’s taste (and quite chintzy) we found it to be cosy, comfortable and clean and found the quirkiness endearing. Room The room was bright, clean and comfortable with little quirks such as a stuffed toy tiger on the bed (cute touch!) and funny signs that could be put on the door. The mini-bar (whilst more expensive than shops outside) was extremely cheap by U.K. standards and so we also utilised this. I’m a deep sleeper so did not hear any outside night although my friend (a light sleeper) did say there was some traffic noise but not too much. Staff All staff we came across were extremely helpful with reception especially being extremely pleasant and helpful (every time we passed they waved and said hello regardless of what time day or night!) Breakfast We were able to have breakfast very early if we wished which was ideal if we had to set off early that date. We just advised the receptionist the night before. Breakfast was also a good selection with a variety of options. Generally For the price we paid we found the hotel to be great in terms of location, value and comfort and would recommend this hotel to any visitor to Kathmandu looking for a well located, clean and reasonably priced stay. Whilst not somewhere to spend all day, we only used it as a base to sleep, wash etc and found it great.
murti123 (10/5): excellent birthday celebration of my little son by Upendra Nepali - Mr.Upendra Nepali,he made our stay so comfortable ,that we didn't lack anything during our stay.he is really a service person for us.i am sure he does same thing to every guest that Aria Boutique Hotel & Spa. after arrival,we mate Him,Mr.Upendra Nepali,he did our entire service to us.he even took good care of our son who is 6 years old. on the last date of our stay,our son had a birthday,so we had informed him to arranged the cake. his service style is very comfortable and convening.he bought a small cake ,and said "it's from my side for the little boy".i have been in Europeans countries,america,perhaps never received such a service . he spend his own money to buy a cakes for my son.really impressed,brilliant service. really gifted service man.he even spoke about the Four Season,s up coming properties just near Aria Boutique Hotel,royal penguin Boutique Hotel,Jurassic park villas in pokhara, kailash money exchange and the tours and travels. i would like to thank Mr.Upendra Nepali for the grate service during our stay.we were totally happy and satisfied with his service team,without any hesitation he fulfilled all our requirements during our stay. all those whoever stays at this hotel,must meet Upendra Nepal. once again thank you for the birthday celebration of my son.we will be back on 2021,

Verified traveler (4/5): - We chose the penthouse, because I felt like a penthouse would be good. It wasn’t. We flew late at night from the US only to learn that the penthouse was on the 5th floor and they didn’t have an elevator. This made it impossible to stop by quickly at the hotel to get a hat or quickly change a shirt. We didn’t stay. We left the same night and went and stayed at their sister property with an elevator. From what I could see, the penthouse terrace was nice but I wasn’t about to do stairs the whole time.
ConnyH484 (8/5): Clean room and good location - The room is clean, spacious and nicely decorated. They provide warm blanket and soft pillow. Hot water wasn't always available. Was able to take a bath with warm water at night but had to wait until the morning to get the hot water again. Rooftop terrace was small but cozy and quiet.

Thelonelyplaner (10/5): Nice Surprise - A cozy and neat hotel. Clean and tidy, and a lot quieter than the hotels I stayed before in Kathmandu. Friendly staff, with a warm atmosphere, a very nice boutique hotel. It's not exactly on the main streets in the city centre, but just a couple of minutes more of a walk, definitely worth the extra steps.
Javed (8/5): - Every thing was fine except the non availability of lift. I am a 70 years old senior citizen and given a room on 4th floor. I had to jump 64 stairs to reach in room. It was difficult to go second time in room in day
CareyRichard (4/5): Chintzy - I can’t figure out the target clientele for this place. Nouveau riche Chinese? Over the hill Russian oligarchs maybe? It’s weird and tawdry. Good luck waiting on that hot water. Service is attentive and pleasant but that’s about all this place has to offer. They have two locations and you can’t tell which one your booked in till you show up at the hotel. Be prepared to walk “only one minute” to the other location . . . place called The Royal Penguin🙄. There are better choices in Thamel at this price point.

Mr.Nepali who made our stay such a good ,that we won,t forget ,his service styles is so convincing ,that he seems to have a good experience to deal with the guest. his ability shows that the own must be happy to have such a personality in f & b department. we had lunch,dinner,and beverage too.it's really good and best one with the pricing,and everything they provided us.
Cheungog (6/5): Located in tourist belt. Poorly maintained room - Aria Boutique Hotel is suited for those who enjoy the buzz of touristy activities. Lots of shopping around. The staff are very friendly, everyone. Good spread of breakfast choices. However, the room facilities were poorly maintained. Broken wardrobe and drawer. Cracked shower head. Shower pressure is good but it took a long time to heat up the water, hence, inadvertently waste water.
M384KNandyc (8/5): Central Location in Thamel and Clean - I liked the location. I stayed nine days. The hotel was walking distance to Durban Square and other local temples. The room rate was very good and the breakfast and overall service were excellent. The room and bath were clean and adequate. Both needed a lot of minor repairs...broken dresser drawer handles and quite a bit of caulking in the bathroom. There wasn’t an elevator and my room was on the 4th floor. But if you’re in Nepal you should be able to handle a few extra flights of stairs a couple of times a day.

207peeps (6/5): Decent, but overrated, budget hotel - The rooms are comfortable, and everyone who works here is extremely kind. The location is very convenient as well with plenty of shopping and dining options located on the same street. Room service and dining at the hotel restaurant are decent. However, the property is no where as modern as the pictures might indicate. The interior desperately needs to be remodeled, and the plumbing needs to be upgraded. Also, there is no elevator, so beware if you get upgraded to the pent house. We almost moved to a chain hotel after checking in here, but decided to stay on. Overall, this is an average budget hotel option though.
alray1978 (2/5): Disappointed - The hotel is well located in Thamel, but we're not happy with our stay, due the room. First day we have room service, we order 3 dish, and one came wrong, steak sandwich without steak!!!!!! Let's talk about room, for 4 nights is unable to switch off the day light, so impossible sleep with off light!!!!! Pressure of water is almost nothing and hot water in the first three days was very short, lucky if u can have a decent shower. We pass one day without ac , we think was about the electric problem during the rain. But when back still the same, so they suggest to transfer in another room at least for one night, and the room I think was the smallest one of the hotel, when we book for a suite. After in the night time fix the problem were allowed to back in our room!!!! The day after key not working , just image climb until 5th floor and your key is not working!!!! We asking for three days to talk with a manager, but apparently no manager because nobody come, and this point is really the worst one!!!! We will never choose from this brand!!!

romanc753 (10/5): Very enjoyable stay, excellent service, best Thamel location in quiet side street - Aria Boutique and Spa hotel is ideally located in midst of Kathmandu's tourist havenThamel, yet in a small and quiet side street just a tiny bit away from the usual noise of a bustling environment. The hotel staff is exceptional, super friendly and goes beyond anything we've ever experienced before, like allowing to enjoy breakfast all around the clock, excellent cappuccino included and served in the room, the sauna can also be used at any time, the rooms have great views and are equipped with all necessary amenities including hair dryer and bathtub. The multi-colors adaptable room lighting on top, below bed and from all sides is also fun to use, and having large stuffed flurry toys to greet us on entering the room was giving the place an additional warm touch. Our fluffy toy was a deer, that was always nice to look at.. Great ideas to make a stay feel homely and pleasant. Thanks to everyone at Aria Boutique and Spa Hotel, you gave us a pleasant surprise. We'd recommend this place, this is a great way to stay at Thamel, which felt like the best place to stay in Kathmandu surrounded by friendly people and all the beautiful, colorful shops and delicious foods, everything just in short walking distance.

Drvaibhavchowdhary (8/5): Good hotel - Ours was a 3 night stay and Hotel staff left no stone unturned to make our stay comfortable. Location is bang in the the heart of Thamel. No second thoughts about location. The only thing I felt lacking was an elevator. And the only suggestion for Hotel service is that they can keep buffet spread in breakfast as the service was too slow for breakfast. Breakfast was Ala carte and it took way too Long for them to deliver it to each guest. They should improve this and justify their 4 star service
InaG288 (8/5): Nice hotel very close to Durbar square - We stayed at this hotel for a few nights before and after a hike. The second time around we got the suite on 5th floor, which was looking great. The rooms are a bit dated,some small issues here and there, but overall a very pleasant stay. Personnel extremely nice and helpful. Breakfast good, even though the service was a little slow. They have a great rooftop, if you have time check it out. Within walking distance from Durbar square, surrounded by shops and restaurants.
CrimsonKookaburra (8/5): comfortable place tucked in away Thamel - Stayed here for a few nights after a trek and it's a good Western style hotel tucked away in Thamel. It's still a bit noisy, but a step up from cheaper accomodations. Minus one star since it's a bit in disrepair and the staff was a bit disorganized (e.g. they initially wanted to charge for items taken from the mini bar by the previous guest, got inconsistent info on the complimentary breakfast)

The staff were very quick in replying to my messages when I requested airport transfer to the hotel, which was especially important after my long flight didn't arrive until after 11pm. The taxi they arranged got my trip off to a good start. Check-in was very easy and I loved the room. There were so many little things that combined to provide a great experience. I still smile about the various door hangers that I could choose from. Having breakfast (great Nepali omelette) at any time was great when I was recovering from early or late travelling. The hotel is in a great location, just a short walk to Durbar Square and the Garden of Dreams, while also next to all the restaurants, shops and bars in Thamel, and the hotel spa gave an excellent massage to relax my legs from all the walking and exploring. The hotel reception were so helpful in booking and giving suggestions about tours, which gave me 3 incredible days of memories. All in all - excellent and I'd definately stay there again!

Laxmi (4/5): - They first put me in a room that had mildew. When I complained, they moved me to another room with less mildew. On my last night, I saw two cockaroaches in this room. Also, the water is discolored. This hotel is NOT a 4 star hotel. Not worth the price at all. Highly recommend you stay elsewhere.

It can be a little noisy, but that is Thamel in Kathmandu. So try to get a higher room or one facing the quieter street. Location is great for Thamel and walking to Durbar Square.

Daniele (2/5): Tourist trap;hard beds/pillow;bad customer service - I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. The beds are rock hard, as were the pillows and comforter. There are no stuffed animals on the beds as depicted in the photos, as a big reason I chose this was I thought it was unique. I thought I was upgrading the room by choosing the deluxe twin room for my friend and I. The website description states “two bedrooms” which to me, means two separate bedrooms, apparently not at Aria; there is only 1 room; If I knew I was paying 5x the amount of other hotels in the area for the same type of room, I would have never stayed here. I then asked for the price that was listed on Expedia ($50 cheaper); the receptionist argued with me for an hour about the price. All I wanted was a little money back and he simply argued with me.i guess Aria doesn’t follow the unspoken rule about “the customer is always right” For 5 times the price of any other hotel in the area, I would expect so much more, such as clean towels, wash clothes, and a company which doesn’t take advantage of tourists. I also was emailed about a transfer to the hotel from the airport and I confirmed. The hotel representative didn’t write me back to confirm the transfer. I emailed her when I arrived in Katmandu and she said there was a driver with a sign. We waited an additional 15 mins for them to find a vehicle. They didn’t have any prepared info on activities that the manager offered to me. It was all talk.

Verified traveler (6/5): - Strip started off by the taxi driver telling me he couldn't drive on the street to Aria so I had to walk 2-3 km and ask a bunch of people where to it was. Finally found the Aria hotel but when I tried to check in they said my reservation was at their other hotel the Royal Penguin about 2 blocks away. Check in at the Royal Penguin was good, but took like 15 minutes. Room was nice, but not like the pictures of the Aria. Was excited to take a bath and relax only to find out the water looked like pee from a severely dehydrated person. Decided to just take a shower and go to bed after the day I had. The shower/steam contraption was a little confusing, but I managed to figure the remote control out and got 4 of the 7 shower heads to trickle water out. Opted to just go with the hand held shower head and shut the others off. Even then the water pressure was barely enough to wash the soap off my body, forget about the time it took to get the shampoo out of my hair. No sense in the hotel owner to spend all the money to make the rooms appear nice. I mean if you don't add water filtration system to the incoming line and a pressure tank for distribution you people will not enjoy all the effort you made in the appearance.. Anyway. Staff was awesome, food was great, room was okay, just disappointed I couldn't enjoy a relaxing soak as I planned.

Internet was problematic but good when working. No elevator so be aware and request Low floor when booking if you have problems climbing stairs. Late check out fee of $10 per hour is also reasonable.

D (4/5): Hotel in centre of Kathmandu - A small and friendly hotel on busy main street of Thamel in Kathmandu. The hotel is advertised as 4 stars but is realistically closer to 2 or 3 stars. Hot water took 5 mins to come and the bathroom had mould. The gym and spa facilities were very basic. There was no elevator so it was especially inconvenient being on the 4th floor. The staff however were helpful and the food was good. With hindsight we would have preferred to stay somewhere quieter with a pool.
Verified traveler (6/5): - They try, but don't expect things to go right. The breakfast is great - it's tasty, filling, free, available any time starting at midnight, and by default is delivered to your room. The showers are awful - they take a few minutes to warm up, changes to the temperature are delayed by about 45sec, and the shower heads aren't securely mounted. We were told the plumbing was being upgraded but who knows. The decor is fun. No elevator, only bellhops. We saw a rat. We didn't get the rooms we reserved and only after complaining did we get some sort of comp. Location is good. Our taxi drivers recognized "JP Road" but they needed to call the hotel to understand the specific location.
David (10/5): Aria aka Royal Penguin - Location in Thamel neighborhood was perfect. Hotel food was excellent (Nepalese set plate was my favorite) and hotel was short walk from other top Katmandu coffee/bakery/eating places. But best of all were the helpfulness and friendliness of hotel staff. Every one the staff made me feel welcome and safe. When I left the hotel I felt like I was leaving friends.
catalex (8/5): Clean place in midst of a very dusty Kathmandu. - We found the staff very friendly, informative and helpful. Room was a little small & had a cluttered feeling with only room for one chair, when it had a King-sized bed. Room service was very good as we arrived very tired & had to leave early for a flight.
Chan (6/5): Expensive for the type of Hotel - Although Breakfast was included, we were charged extra for not ordering the set breakfast. Example if Omelet and toast are part of set breakfast, if you just order Omelet only you have to pay. Does not sound logical. Looks like order the set breakfast and just eat what u want and waste the rest of food.
Helen (8/5): Comfortable, pleasant but organize your own Taxi - The entrance to the hotel was very nice indeed, the reception staff were pleasant and helpful. The room was very nice however I was a little bit disappointed it was not as good or as big as the room I had Aunt the Royal penguin the year before. The food was good under the bed was comfortable. I ordered breakfast for 5:15 a.m. I had to leave at t6 a.m. unfortunately the breakfast did not arrive until 5.55 a.m. and I did not have time to eat. I took a taxi from the street as I felt that $15 was ridiculously expensive. The street Taxi cost me 600 rupees.

Maria (6/5): Bait and switch by both the hotel and hotels.com - I selected a room with a king size bed at the Aria Hotel in Kathmandu. The room was suppose to sleep 4 with a sleeper sofa. The email confirmation that I received did not show my selection - instead it showed a room with 2 twin size beds. When I arrived at the Aria Hotel, I was sent down the street to the Penguin Hotel and was give a standard room with a king size bed. So not only did hotels.com charge me for a room that I did not receive but the Aria Hotel did not provide me with a room. I don't appreciate paying for something and receiving something of inferior quality.

Jill (10/5): - A very enjoyable stay. -They staff are professional and super helpful, they even got us informations in regards to transit visa's for returning back to India. Hotel rooms were clean and comfortable bed, which can be hard to find in Nepal! -Breakfast was includes in our package which was a bonus. It was good and came out quickly ! Had breakfast not been included I don't think I would eat there as it was a bit overpriced. -Internet worked better in the main lobby than in your room. Overall I would recommend it to other travellers.
Craig (2/5): No hot water in room, so I was told to use spa. - I was in the penthouse and there was no hot water. The tubnis a ruse, as you will not be able to actually enjoy it in luke warm water. They sent a couple people up from the front desk, who did nothing but laugh. When I called again, they suggested Inuse the spa shower. $75 (after tax) is a lot to pay for a room in Kathmandu, eapecially a room with NO HOT WATER. Who doesn't use the shower in their hotel room?

Whitney (10/5): Kind staff, great food, convenient & fun location - Cannot speak more highly of the kind, attentive staff at the RPB hotel. Loved that you can receive breakfast 24/7 in your own room! This is likely due to there being no elevator, so the room service is quite convenient. I've also never seen such an extensive room service menu - so many options. The stuffed animals (soft toys) on the bed were a fun touch to each room and would definitely be enjoyed by small children. The location in Thamel is great for shopping and nearby restaurants, a must for those looking to explore this unique neighborhood. Can't wait to stay here on my next visit to Kathmandu!

Anne (8/5): Nice hotel in happening area of Tamel - The greatest aspect of this hotel was the friendliness of the staff. They were always ready to help. Room was clean, wifi was slow but they were trying a new provider, attempting to improve the connection. The area of this hotel was awesome!! It is walking distance to everything you need, including travel agents, banks, etc. - and great shopping!!!
toh ke (8/5): Great food, great service at a great price - Service was excellent and thoughtful. Staff were attentive and polite. Food was the 1 of the best I had. Spoilt for Choice with the menu, very tasty and generous share. Find it really sweet that the security greets me everytime he sees me even when its many times a day! Also had a nice surprise when I open the door to find my country's flag on the coffee table. Only shortcoming that I can think of is the lack of elevator (or maybe I'm just lazy) and a warmer in the room (it's freezing at night, I swear)

Brendan (10/5): Going the extra mile - We stayed at Royal Penguin 1. It has no elevator. The staff are all amazing. The room was great and a/c worked well. Huge bathtub in a nice bathroom. Food choices were great and reasonably priced for a hotel. They add many small touches to make this place 'boutique' and unique.

Room is big enough, Comfortable bed, Sofa, Very good wifi, Can make tea/ coffee in room. Working ac. 24/7 Electricity. Delicious breakfast and Can have anytime during day. I got free pick up as well. Main thing is staff- They are very courteous and eager to help anytime. They give free information on tour and I book mountain flight with them. Overall very nice experience.

Verified traveler (8/5): Nice, four-star property, centrally located. - I stayed here and at the other Royal Penguin location (which is just 50 meters or so away). This is the original location and has the gym. The staff is professional and outstanding. The rooms are clean and comfortable. No elevator here, like at many Kathmandu hotels, so if that's important to you, consider RP2. The location is central to the Thamel district, the main tourist hub for Kathmandu.

Luis (10/5): Triple A+ for Courtesy, Helpfulness, and Charm - Such a quirky little hotel in the heart of everything - first of all, Thamel was a great part of Kathmandu to be in. Everything (shopping, food, services, etc...) was within walking distance. The staff go out of their way to be friendly, helpful and courteous. The room itself was very comfortable, especially the bedding. The hotel restaurant was also reasonably priced and very well stocked. The hotel itself has some challenges, but no fault of their own - like periodic government black outs and a sometimes noisy street - but really it's nothing that cannot be overlooked by the A+ attitude of the staff. They really care about making your stay as pleasant as it can be.
Kamla (6/5): - First of all there is no elevator and the rooms are small. I feel that this hotel is overpriced. It was clean and comfortable but not for that price I paid. The noise on the street is also annoying when you try to sleep in. I must say it was a great experience.

Brigitte (8/5): Quirky but fun hotel - We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. It is a quirky but fun place to stay. The decor is really different but it put a smile on my face. The staff are super friendly and no request is a problem. We were upgraded for free so that was an even better bonus. Electricity is a problem, but that is the case everywhere. So time charging your phones and cameras according to the load schedule. Or in my case, washing my hair so I can use the dryer accordingly!! ;) We ordered room service regularly as the meals were freshly made and tasty. Surprisingly the cost was reasonable as well. Constant Wifi and close to everything in Thamel. I will definitely be returning next time I am in Kathmandu.

May (10/5): Hotel with a personality - It's much different from any other hotels i've seen, especially those in Kathmandu. Apart from level a high level of comforts, it has some unique features which make it special. Lots of small details that will amuse or make you laugh. Good wi-fi. Room service 24 hours.

And various bright lights inside. Huge bathtub. 24-hours restaurant. Breakfast - at any time of day and night!! Staff is amazing (special thanks for Kunchan) - and on ther reception, and in restaurant. Roof-top park is very cozy.
Olga (10/5): Cozy stay and the best service - The room was perfectly clean and looks new and nice decorated. I enjoyed a nice gym with a treadmill, exercise bicycle and after that I relaxed in sauna.
