However, advertising as a riverfront hotel is somewhat deceptive as you can barely see the river and most of it is dried up :( This is a city hotel, but a lovely one.

The staff in both the hotel and the restaurant were fantastic! The rooftop terrace was our favorite place to hang out. The location was perfect as well. Walkable to many stores and restaurants and a 15 minute drive to a beautiful beach and park. We will return in the future.

- Sonia (10/5): - The property is beautiful, and the staff were very pleasant. The cocktails and food at the restaurant, Siena, were great. We were disappointed that there was no rooftop bar. This amenity listed on the website was misleading; however, it is a beautiful space.
- Francine (2/5): - Ladies beware!! A few hours after my departure from this hotel, I received an email notification of permanently damaged linens which would equate to $100+ fee. After promptly requesting the evidence, I was sent images of UNWASHED towels, pillowcases and a robe— they reflected moderate makeup residue. After seeking the proof that the makeup could not be removed with machine wash, I was told by management that such images were not available. I travel extensively and have never experienced this type of hotel feedback or outrageous charges. Also, I have white linens at my home and the very same makeup residue is seamlessly removed with a single machine wash. This seems to be a tactic to overcharge patrons. By the way, they also attempted to charge me for the hotel receptionist transferred phone call to the onsite restaurant. I would think that if the hotel has unreasonable concerns about makeup on linens, etc., they would simply add brown face towels for makeup wearing patrons!

- Nick (8/5): Almost perfect - Hotel was great. Restaurant on premises is especially good. Hotel includes breakfast with your stay, which was a real disappointment. They should either not offer it, or elevate it because right now it’s not befitting a hotel of this stature.

The hotel has an 11pm quite policy, at midnight to 1.30am... rowdy guests up and down the hallway, maybe from the engagement party on the rooftop. Granted i did not call down to reception, but truly i should've have to, its such a small hotel, theres no way anyone on duty wouldn't and should automatically ask the guest to quietly go to their rooms! My daughter lives in Fairfield CT, i brought my son and his fiancé to town to visit. I have to be honest. Ill choose a different location next visit.

It is more than apparent that the staff and the designer listens to their guests needs and wants. It is a beautiful environment. The rooms are calming and meticulously clean. The amenities are luxurious. I cannot wait to find a reason to return.

Only gripe was that I requested our room to be away from the elevator, only to get a room close to the ice machine, which is a bit loud if your a light sleeper. Lesson learned. Would definitely book again!

- denise (8/5): - I had an event in Westport where there don’t seem to be any options and this was a 15 minute ($18 dollar) car service ride away. I was very pleasantly surprised. Recently renovated so the rooms are big and bedding very comfy. Good size modern bathroom and a lot of towels. Nice big TV. The decor is rustic chic. The lobby also has a very nice large seating area with natural light and comfy couch/chairs. So you can gather if you are a large group. It’s a low rise and j the back is a wooded area with a creek (don’t think there was access to this) and the front is busy main road. But f need be, you can cross over and there is a liquor store and Stop & Shop maybe a 4 minute walk. Refrigerator in room and the restaurant lent us a couple of spoons. The restaurant on premises opens at 5 pm and the food was very good. They also had a happy hour. Staff very helpful and friendly in both lobby and restaurant. free continental breakfast was fine. A few coffee options. Overall a very safe bet and I’d stay again when I need to go to area.

- Jessica (8/5): - The design of this hotel is beautiful, and despite being on the main road it was quiet inside the property. The windows in the breakfast room on the river side are in need of cleaning (lots of algae growing) and there were no dairy-free options at breakfast. The trash bin at breakfast was overflowing and right in the middle of the room which was strange. I didn’t mind hearing the train from our room and slept really well. I did notice the bathroom counter was dusty (maybe from the vents? I’m sure the cleaners wouldn’t leave it like that) but it felt clean otherwise. There was only one person at the desk when we checked in, she was on the phone talking about room pricing to a potential customer, and we had to wait in a line for a while until we were able to check in. I think paying customers should take precedence.

- Thomas (8/5): - We really enjoyed our stay at The Watershed. It is a beautiful hotel with big, clean rooms and a unique layout and original classy finishes. The staff is exceptional, friendly, and helpful in every way. They actually greet you when entering the hotel and everyone was so nice. Unfortunately, the only reason I'm not giving a perfect score is because we were there when a wedding party was staying at the hotel and they were incredibly rude and out of control. We were up until 3am dealing with their loud drunk behavior. There is no reason for people to get so drunk and act so out of control. This could happen anywhere so not the fault of the hotel but I wish they had signs reminding the wedding party to act appropriately while people are sleeping. Also be careful of the main road in front of the hotel. It is a major highway and people drive much faster than they should. We were walking our dog on the sidewalk and a car skidded against the the curb right next to us. Very scary.

- Robin (10/5): - My sister and I met half way between our residences for my sisters 75 birthday. It was the perfect stay. Our only disappointment was the expense at the nearby beach. Norwalk is not non resident friendly. 70 dollars to use the beach is crazy. It has nothing to do with our great stay but it discourages us from revisiting.

- Jennifer (10/5): Best hotel option in the Norwalk area - We stayed here about 18 months ago prior to renovation. We were back and really enjoyed the new look and accommodations. The rooms were well appointed, very clean and comfortable. The quality of the bedding and shower were characteristic of a premium hotel. Would recommend for those who visit the Norwalk area. We ate dinner in the restaurant which also was very good. The only negative is the train but the room is well insulated so you can only hear a rumble in the distance.

- Carrie (8/5): - The last time I stayed here, it was known as a different name. The renovations have really made a difference. It’s a beautiful place to stay that’s very convenient to the Merritt Parkway. The mattress was firm, the water pressure was perfect in the shower, and staff were friendly during our stay. The only disappointment was that the coffee machine was broken the next morning and there were no alternatives offered that were gratis like the coffee would have been. I would have made tea in my room, but the bottled water was $3/bottle, which seemed excessive under the circumstances. Regardless, I will return. And hopefully the weather will be better next time so I can hang out on the rooftop.

- janice (10/5): - I spent 5 cozy nights at this property. The local owners thought of so many little touches that made my stay comfortable and uplifting (there for my mother's life celebration). From the natural, modern decor and design touches (stunning lobby artwork that brought the CT woods indoors) to the toiletries, the owners provided a luxury experience at a reasonable price. There were lavish bathrobes, multiple choices of fresh coffees from around the world as well as exquisite teas in silk tea bags (yum!), and fresh fruit in a big bowl -- all available 24/7. Special room touches included dried flowers in vases, excellent, architecturally fitting tea kettle, (I'm going to try to find one like it for my home), and even polished river stones set out in a zen design on the desk adding to my unique hotel stay by the river. The staff was friendly and helpful and the rooms spotless. In contrast I spent a night at a marriott hotel in Newark where not a special touch could be found at $100 more per night than the Watershed. Highly recommended.
