Tannhaeuser18 (9/5): - An impressive historic house located on the outskirts of Asheville. Although we had booked one of their smaller rooms, they upgraded us to a larger room at no extra charge, simply because it was available. People with mobility issues may have problems accessing the rooms here, since there are no elevators. The breakfast was quite basic and more-or-less do-it-yourself. At this price, one expects something freshly made, whether eggs, omelettes, pancakes, etc.

Evans (9/5): Would stay again! - It was super clean and comfortable! Great location near Grove Park Inn. Easy drive to downtown. Friendly staff. Breakfast was a bit of a bummer. Coffee was fresh, but continental breakfast selections were all but depleted half way through the breakfast hour.
Suzann (9/5): We had a nice stay, it was a beautiful place, the staff was helpful. - The staff was very nice and super helpful. The inn was beautiful. We loved the room just not where it was located in the inn. The room was nice but the room location was close to the stairs and the front door and we could hear everyone that went up and down and came in the door. The floor were very creaky so it woke us at night in early in the morning. The breakfast was more of a cold breakfast, granola, yogurt, fruit, boiled eggs, etc. Which was disclosed so that is fine. If you like that sort of thing and are more of a light breakfast person you will enjoy it. We enjoyed our stay but honestly probably won't stay there again.

RHONDA (10/5): Charming! A true retreat! - Location was ideal for visiting Asheville. Grounds of Inn were private, peaceful. In a nice residential neighborhood and within walking distance of restaurants. It was particularly nice to have access to the home’s kitchen at all hours for use of refrigerator, ice, coffee and teas. Staff were very pleasant and helpful! It would have been nice to have had more fresh fruit for breakfasts, particularly during this season of fresh berries.

Lori was great in making us feel welcome and walking us through the Inn and explaining how we could enjoy all the amenities they had to offer. The age of this incredible Inn shows in some creaking stairs, but didn’t impact our favorable impression.

A7228PDjessicar (10/5): Great experience! - Staying at the Albemarle Inn was a delightful experience. I had never stayed in a bed-and-breakfast before and now I am spoiled. It was so quiet and inviting with the couch and fireplace just outside of my room (Old Oak room). I did not know if anyone else was even staying there based on how quiet it was, however, there were other cars there and I did see other people occasionally. I had a conference at the Omni Grove and was able to walk there each day. It was a safe 10-15 minute walk with sidewalks, although it was uphill on the way there. If I ever need a weekend away, I will stay here again!

Victoria (5/5): It was uncomfortable feeling like we could not speak in our room. No one came to take the trash or offer fresh towels. H - The property was stunning, exactly as pictured! For a few reasons this beautiful property was extremely uncomfortable for us, to start we arrived to an insanely HOT room. We were informed that there was no way to cool the room other than open windows and “a fan in the closet” because the entire home is set to heat so that it isn’t too cool in the evenings. Okay no problem, within 90 minutes of checking in, opening the windows & beginning to unpack we have a knock on our door, it’s the inn keeper telling us we are laughing too loud. It was 5:30 pm for perspective, this was very unwelcoming, we did explain that she could probably hear us because we had all of the windows open as she had instructed us. We started to notice we were the only young people in this bed and breakfast, maybe for a reason. After this we did not expect to be kept up all night by a whining & barking dog across the hall, but we were. I had no idea the property allowed pets but that’s my error, however to make us so uncomfortable over laughing but say nothing all night? It felt very selective. If you are a couple coming perhaps with a dog, this would be a nice place for you, assuming you want to be very quiet for a few days. If you are coming to have fun, this is not the place. No one came to take the trash or offer fresh towels either morning, but there was a small envelope in the room awaiting a tip for the innkeeper, when we checked out a small child was stripping the beds. The property is beautiful, if you are a boisterous laugher book at your own risk.

I am madly in love with the giant bedroom door to our room and our room offered plenty of space for our clothes and seating . Our bed in the Old Oak was quite comfortable. The atmosphere of the inn was super cozy as the fire blazed in the fireplace. We would happily stay here again. One note is that as a light sleeper and having guests in rooms above ours, I am glad we brought our noise makers to cover some of the other guests’ noise that is unavoidable.

Our room was on the second floor and it was spacious with a king sized bed. Comfortable bed with clean sheets. The bathroom was clean. The Inn also has EV chargers onsite that was included in the stay at no extra charge. 2 Tesla (NACS) chargers and 1 non-Tesla (CCS1) charger. It was great to charge up at the Inn and not have to find a public charger in Asheville. We enjoyed our stay. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Suggestion for Staff: Alert guests upon arrival of possible bear making his 'rounds'. My wife was in the room on the second story looking out the window while I was getting the bags from the truck. She saw a bear approaching the property. She called me to alert me. I got inside the truck and waited for the bear to pass by me and check out the trash cans at the adjacent property. He continued on and after waiting a few minutes I got the bags and went inside.

427RitaS (6/5): Beautiful house and property, but disappointing visit. - A beautiful and spacious house built in the late 1800s. Located in an upscale neighborhood only minutes from town. Plenty of parking. Quiet neighborhood. Fascinating history. Friendly and helpful staff. Clean. The downside: our room was cold and the wall control pad didn’t work. The temperature had dropped down to the 40s during the night. The next day we reported this to staff and were told that it had been 80 degrees the previous weekend so the heating system had been turned off. It was remedied for the subsequent night. No drinking glasses, ice machine and no pitcher in the room. It was difficult to adjust the water in the shower to get it hot enough. The continental breakfast was below par. There were supermarket bagels, bread, cream cheese and butter, and packaged food like granola bars. Some fresh fruit was available, juice, coffee and tea. Our room was on the third floor, and there was no elevator. The last flight of steps going from the second to the third floor were narrow and steep.

The rooms are all unique with beautiful designs and give a taste of history in the area. Sitting out on the patio in the mornings and evenings in the quiet was our favorite part. The location is good, wouldn’t say it’s super walkable to any of the good restaurants or businesses but good if you plan on driving from place to place. The room was very clean. Bed was comfortable, we slept very well, which is usually a problem for me away from home. Amenities were all as expected. We had the room with the balcony-Juliet Suite. Very beautiful. The home is gorgeous and historic. Very cozy. Linens were nice. Area felt very safe. My only concern was the breakfast. For the price, I feel like a decent breakfast should be offered. All you will get is a basic continental breakfast in the common area. I was very disappointed in this regard. Should at least have scrambled eggs or something of that nature but no, just ready made items like boiled eggs, bagels, etc. The host kept saying that Hurricane Helene had somehow caused a change in the menu…..not really sure how that played a role considering most the restaurants in the area were up and running just as before. He apologized several times, so I am assuming it’s has been a common complaint. This was him already apologizing upon our checking in, not as if we had already checked in and experienced the breakfast for our selves. I just feel like if you already have to apologize before hand, do something about it if you want to continue to run a successful business. Offer something that will keep people coming back or make them feel like they got what they paid for. If they would improve upon the breakfast, this place would be an easy 5 stars. I would still recommend staying here for the comfort and cleanliness. Just don’t expect a breakfast that’s going to knock your socks off. There’s several great breakfast places in the area if that kind of breakfast isn’t your cup of tea.

We walked around the area and it was peaceful and got all the way up to the Antique Car museum. We were warned by the receptionist that some bears had been seen earlier in the day - we did not expect to meet them up close when returning from our walk. Mum and 3 cubs were playing in the parking area and it was a wonderful (yet a bit scary) encounter!. The house is well maintained, and even the small room we stayed at in the 3rd floor had great charm to it - I did not mind having to duck to shower, it was part of the experience! Breakfast was simple but really good and we were able to enjoy it out in the garden. Easy drive to the city and many restaurant options. A wonderful stay overall in a well-preserved property

We were assured it was great, and it was!! Kelly (GM) had even turned it down for us before we arrived. She let us know there is a slight slope in the floor by the bathroom (older home), which was not a problem for us. This is a beautiful place & Kelly was like a friend. We highly recommend!!

My bad for not seeing the change on their website. Everything else was perfect although if you are tall, avoid the third floor due to slanted ceilings. My boyfriend clocked himself a few times. LOL. Still a lovely stay and walking distance to the Grovepark Inn if you’d like to splurge on dinner!

The Inn itself is historic so if you’re looking for the modern feel of a hotel, this isn’t it. The wood floors creak from age and the bathroom comes with a huge clawfoot tub. It’s quaint and beautiful. They are dog-friendly. The breakfast is delicious. Parking is plentiful. Location was perfect. This will be our number one choice when returning to Asheville.

Y9684KFstephanies (4/5): Disappointing - Just returned from 3 nights at the Albermarle. While it is charming and clean, the service is lackluster, very nice but not attentive at all. There was no attention to the breakfast buffet once it was put out, and guests had to ask for items to be replenished. The choices of food diminished as days went by. Despite a large sign on the frig promising lemonade and iced tea these drinks never appeared. The water jugs were not replaced despite being empty for several days. A full plate of cookies on our first day was depleted to three by our last day. The room service was non-existent even when specifically requested: no clean towels, no emptied trashcans, no made-up beds. Very disappointing.
janetf221 (6/5): Ignore Old Reviews - It's Not What It Used to Be - The Albemarle Inn has apparently changed since it was a family-owned inn, so the older reviews are not accurate. It is now owned by a financial corporation in Cincinnati which also owns Beaufort House and Cedar Crest. The house and property are beautiful, clean and well-maintained. However, the level of service is not what the older reviews describe. It is no longer a warm and welcoming small inn. The Saturday we checked in, things seemed fine and the staff person was friendly and helpful. She helped with luggage and had even baked cookies. But after that, things declined as other, less engaged, staff appeared. Staff sat at the desk either reading or working on the computer and seemed uninterested in the guests. The afternoon lemonade and iced tea that was supposed to be available in the refrigerator never materialized, and the water dispenser was empty for 2 out of the 3 days. Afternoon cookies were set out on the first day and never replenished over the next three days. Breakfast was available for just one hour and the general food quality was mediocre. For example, the cut fruit was several days old and when I asked about whether there might be a fresher option, the worker said they add fresh fruit to the old fruit every day and mix it in. Room cleaning is only done every three days, and they did not collect wet towels or trash. There is no desk staff there at night, and one evening we came back and found that the front door had not fully closed and it just pushed right open (we added a note to the door to remind guests to be sure the door is closed and locked). All in all, the Albemarle Inn has wonderful potential but needs more attentive workers and owners.

cshga (10/5): Perfect to rest your mind and relax! - Hands down one of THE best places to stay in Asheville. Staff was exceptional, breakfast was perfect, beds were fabulous. The place was pristine clean. So perfectly serene and peaceful! Went with my daughter to Asheville so she could take her NCLEX exam. This was the most stress free place for her to settle her mind and rest. This will definitely be a place to stay whenever we come back to Asheville.

LindaS558 (8/5): Cozy Anniversary Home - We stayed in Royal Hideaway and despite being winded from hoofing up 3 flights of stairs 😆 it was nice to be away from the traffic. The room was nice...good linens on the king bed and bathroom suitable. There is a little sitting room w fireplace and a jacuzzi tub in the bathroom. However, we were told our room would be completely serviced on the 3rd day of our stay and that didn't happen. We leave tomorrow after 5 days and were a little disappointed that our room was never refreshed. The continental breakfast is expansive but the same offerings every day. The inn staff was kind and solicitous but nobody is on the premises after 5 in case this is an issue for you...wasn't really for us. Overall we have enjoyed our stay. Location is great...5 min from Sunset Terrace restaurant and 8 min from downtown. Neighborhood is historical with beautiful old homes.
