Guest Reviews
- esopus35 (8/5): Location is outstanding! - 13 of a Gadventure group stayed in this small boutique hotel inside the city walls. The location close to everything. like restaurants, fort hike, shopping. The hotel is small, clean, quiet at night and well managed. Rooms are large, we had three beds, windows are beautiful and shower drains. Breakfast is very basic. No tea pot in room but luxurious bathrobes are.
- Tugce (6/5): Ortalama vasat - Old City içerisinde bir otel. Ama gürültüden uyuyamadik. Kahvaltı tatmin edici değil. Restoran alanı da gurultuluydu. Büyük ihtimalle tercih etmem. Resepsiyonda ki bayan ilgiliydi.
- Maja (6/5): - The hotel looked very dated with everything covered in w
- Lyndsay (4/5): Good location but room is basic and noisy - Great location right in the middle of the old town. But the room is basic and very noisy. I was woken up multiple times every night with noise from the street and from inside the hotel. Rooms are not sound proof and the windows are flimsy letting in every sound
- Murray (10/5): - Absolute gem. Very helpful and low key.
- Stephan (6/5): - The location and breakfast were great, but the rooms could be better. There is no elevator, so be prepared to carry your luggage up the stairs. The rooms are dated, which isn’t necessarily bad since it matches the character of the area. However, there was mold in the bathroom shower, the shower drains were clogged, and the Wi-Fi signal was so weak it was unusable.
- gfrompisa (2/5): Stay away from this place - I booked, and paied well ahead of my trip, a room in this hotel. When we arrived at 2 PM I was told that there was no room. When asked why, no answer. When asked why they had not told me in advance the answer was "well, we are telling you know". The person at reception told me that she had reserved at a different hotel, if we were not satisfied we could just cancel the reservation! My wife and I were brought to a different hotel. Infact it was more of a restaurant with a few rooms. Lower standard than the one we had booked and paied, but we had few choices in a Kotor as full as possible.
- Paradise482635 (10/5): Perfect Stay in the Heart of Kotor - Hotel Marija is a true gem inside Kotor’s Old Town. The location is unbeatable—just steps away from the main sights, charming squares, and the waterfront. The historic building has so much character, yet the rooms are comfortable, clean, and well-equipped. Breakfast was fresh and enjoyable each morning, and the staff were kind, welcoming, and always ready to help. Despite being in the center of the old town, the hotel feels peaceful and cozy. A wonderful choice for anyone wanting an authentic Kotor experience. Highly recommended!
- Verified traveler (4/5): overpriced - Location inside the old city; surprisingly quiet though in the middle of busy streets;
Staff impolite; very overpriced as to the quality
Remote control for air condition not working; a man came to look and promised to return; never did;
were sleeping in hot with open window
bathroom small; dry place for stuff (levels, hooks) needed
breakfast cold - even "hot" water cold
- C (8/5): - Rooms are ok but we found our’s to be a bit dirty. A nice enough place but definitely not a four star hotel. The place is a definite tourist magnet and was extremely loud through all hours of the night. Breakfast is fine but not exceptional - a perfect way to summarize this entire establishment.
- Rachel (6/5): - The location was perfect right in the centre of Kotor old town.
The hotel was exceptionally clean.
The hotel staff were the unfriendliest staff I’ve ever experienced in any hotel before.
There was no smiles or acknowledgement of you when you passed through the hotel.
We were given a key and told breakfast started at 7am. No other information was provided eg where our room was and where breakfast was served.
The only time we were acknowledged was when my husband went to the reception toilet and was shouted at ‘why are you not asking to use the toilet’ He explained he was a guest and the staff member just shrugged her shoulders and marched off. If they lifted their head and made eye contact maybe they would know who their guests were.
Staff please smile and be more friendly with guests and this hotel would be so much better.
- Maimunah (10/5): - The room was spacious and clean. Breakfast selection was good but lack hot options. Suitable for a short stay.
- Flavio (8/5): - Do oquei no 3 andar ! Teto sempre baixo ! Boa localização e café da manhã
- Ken (10/5): - Old city classic. Good breakfazt
- SHUICHI (10/5): - It is located in the center of the old town. It was noisy outside in the daytime, but it was quite in the night.
- Andrew (10/5): - Really nice place to stay.
Staff were friendly and check-in was super quick.
Great location in the old town and would happily stay here again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Great location, thin walls - The walls are pretty thin. I could hear the other rooms on the floor easily. The tv did not work and the shower was tiny and I am not a big guy.
- Scott (8/5): Lovely. Ideal location - Fantastic staff, day and night! Breakfast was better than the 4* that we stayed in Podgorica - breakfast chef was also lovely. Room was good. Had a lovely balcony. Spotlessly clean. Minor feedback… bed base squeaked on every move. It made it hard to have a good nights sleep. Shower head had no holder so you had to hold it while washing yourself. Aside from that, fantastic location, cozy and lovely!!
- Hazal (10/5): Kaliteli hizmet ve temiz otel - Çok memnun kaldık. Güler yüzlü, yardımcı ve ilgili personlerler vardı. Odamız çok temizdi. Manzaramız çok güzeldi. Kahvaltı yeterliydi.
- Anne (10/5): Perfect location - Perfect location at the heart of Old Town. Easy to find . Yet it is quiet at night. Not too deep from the main entrance to the Old Town. Very helpful staff . Didn’t catch her name though( Tall, lady in glasses , usually working in the morning and breakfast time) .
Breakfast was basic but sufficient, mainly ham, eggs, fruits, cereals and local pastries.
Price was also reasonable.
- DAVID KA WAI (8/5): - All is good except noisy from the other rooms and street.
- DAVID KA WAI (8/5): -
- Nenne (10/5): Kotor stad - Mycket trevligt hotell mitt i Kotor stad.
Vänlig personal och snabb incheckning
- Inbal (6/5): - It's in the midst of the old city.
- Alexander (10/5): - So good
- Sophie (6/5): - My stay was fine. The staff were not overly friendly/ welcoming but they did their job. Room was slightly older but fine, there was old damp on the wall that could do with being cleaned up otherwise everything was fine. Would recommend for it's convenience for old town however be warned of noise inside the room (ac and fridge) and outside noise (church bell, footfall etc)
- Sirawon (8/5): - Very convenient to cruise ship pier
- ToniT1079 (10/5): Calm Place Close to City Center Action - Great location to city center, very calm place amidst the hustle-bustle of city center. Clean, roomy bedrooms, free wifi, ample breakfast buffet with indoor and outdoor covered seating. Attentive staff. Be prepared to carry your bags to this cozy place in the tiny streets.
- Mary (10/5): - Lovely gem of a small hotel !!
Free Bkfst. 0utstanding location & so darn quaint!!
- Anuradha (10/5): - Parking is at a different place as this is in heart or city
- Gurmehar (6/5): - I will start with the positive remarks: The location of property is amazing. It’s in the old town of Kotor, with excellent cafes/ restaurants, shopping options around.
I enjoyed the complimentary breakfast, although, the choice is limited but I can’t complain given very reasonable price of the room.
The cleaners are doing great job. I could see they work really hard and are attentive. As soon they realised I have left the room, they cleaned up the room and replaced the towels.
Unfortunately, the room itself was average. It had a nice big window but it opens very next to the neighbouring house’s window, which is not very convenient and means I had to keep it closed most of the times, hence, poor natural lighting in the room. The bed wasn’t comfortable and I wouldn’t suggest it for couples as it creeked even whilst me turning sides in the bed.
- Bruce (10/5): - loved the staff
- grahunts2016 (8/5): Fabulous location - Stayed here for 2 nights. Unfortunately l got the 3rd floor (no lift), but my view was amazing. Room was fine, bed a little firm. Bathroom was newly renovated and nice big shower. You have to hold the shower, no hook on the wall.
Breakfast was terrific, lots of choices. Bar was cheaper than outside in the street. Location was fabulous. Close to everything
- TheCount69 (6/5): Nice stay and well Located - A nice stay of 3 nights in room 15, it wasn't ready on my early arrival but no problems as I was able to store my bag in the hotel. It is easy to find when you know how, go through the main entrance to the old town, turn left and take first right, walk to the end and it is on the corner.
Very comfy big bed, TV has 6 channels. none are English (observation for others, I don't really care about TV.#
), no fridge and no safe, plenty wardrobe space, fabulous bathroom and toiletries included.
My room was near the Church so you are woken by the bells at 8am and being in the old town people are going about their business very early.
Breakfast was average, the hot stuff never stayed hot long enough.
Staff pleasant and hotel very clean throughout
Free wifi.
If there was a fridge and safe I would probably scored a 4.
Eating in the old town is more expensive so I took a short stroll outside the walls each evening
Would I stay again, most definitely, it was a very nice stay, all I ever ask for is a clean bathroom and bed, and it excelled in these two areas
- Francisca (8/5): Personal ruidoso - Buenas ubicación.
El personal del hotel hablaba a gritos ya a las 6.30 de la mañana, todos los días, estuve 4
- Fredrik (10/5): - Top locatie in een prachtige stad
- Michael (6/5): Nice Hotel inside city walls. - Nice big rokm with a comfy double bed. Brilliant shower with gel and soap provided.
No fridge or safe.
Breakfsst was ok.
Church bells are loud but only heard them at 8am and you are clise to the church, its an old town within the cuty walls with no traffic.
Quaint and nice small hotel, certainly recommended you stay here
- SUSAN (8/5): - Hotel Marija is ideally situated in the centre of the beautiful old town of Kotor. Its wooden interior added to its charm. Breakfast was included and was ok. We were very happy with our stay and would use this hotel again if we return to Kotor!
- Fidan (8/5): - Otelin konumu gerçekten muhteşemdi. Kahvaltı çok iyiydi (açık büfe). Banyo temizdi.
- Lasse (10/5): - The best
- bornthatway_traveler (8/5): Inexpensive Breakfast in a Charming Hotel - Hotel Marija’s breakfast buffet, at just 7€, is a bargain for Kotor. The selection when I arrived was not substantial, but it had high-quality food. The woman working the hotel delivered excellent customer service. The hotel building itself appeared humble and lovely…a great fit for Old Town.
- eileenmK3384QV (8/5): Old Town comfort - What a wonderful hotel in the middle of Old Town. You won't find the most recently renovated decor, but you will find a warm, inviting place to call home while in Kotor. The staff is reserved, but very attentive - the breakfast is a full spread of cakes & breads, cereals, cheeses & meats, made to order omelets & eggs, but sadly minimal fruit and vegetables. Lunch/Dinner have the the same menu - nothing fancy (a fish dish, pastas, and chicken) , but inexpensive and satisfying (especially during the pouring rain storms we endured and during which we did not want to search for a restaurant!) The accommodations are not ornate but the rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable, and the ambience is so appropriate for "Old Town"
- Yoshimichi (8/5): お勧めのホテル - old town gateから直ぐの所にあり、迷うこなく見つけられます。
音は我慢できる範囲です。
シャワーは温度も湯量も十分でした。
朝食のオムレツは美味しかったです。
- Ashley (8/5): Great location. - The service was incredible, and the included breakfast was a lovely touch. The views from our room were beautiful. The beds were very uncomfortable and very squeaky. If it weren’t for the beds I would rate it 5 stars.
- Namik (6/5): A hotel with a nice location but poorly maintained - The biggest factor in choosing this hotel was that it said free parking. But the hotel did not have a parking lot. The air conditioner of the room was broken. Since we checked in late, there was no one who could solve the problem. The bathrooms have been renovated but the room is very old. It is attractive as it is located in the old town, but it is definitely not comfortable. Breakfast options were sufficient. Even though they offered to help with air conditioning and parking the next day, we wanted to check out of the hotel. They had no problems with the refund and were very courteous.
- Andrew (8/5): - Lovely hotel in the middle of the old town in Kotor. I had a balcony room overlooking the town square. Awesome. Substantial breakfast.
- Joachim (8/5): - Located in the Old City with a nice and friendly atmosphere.
Good breakfast and friendly staff.
- Kathrin (10/5): Beautiful historic building, great location - Hotel Marija is in an excellent location in the old town of Kotor. However, that also means that the pedestrian traffic of the narrow alleys is quite loud at night. Other than that and a squeaky bed, all was wonderful. The entire hotel and the room had these charming old features like a gorgeous wooden floor while the bathroom was spacious and modern. Breakfast can be enjoyed in the little square in front where the pedestrian traffic flows past and sometime street musicians will entertain. A great place to stay.
- Manfred (6/5): no parking space available-big damage at my car! - hotel itslef was super, but i booked with a aprking space and they didnt have a space at hotel marija. they told me to go to use the parking space of hotel marija 2, 2 km outside. hotel marija 2 told me they also have no parking space and ordered me to park next to the hotel in front of the neighbours house. reception confirmed taht the parking there is ok and observed. after returning to my car after the stay, my car was totally scratched. somebody did this on purpose. the neighbour? hotel marija didnt react on my complaint. the damage is around 2000€. the hotel complete service is bulshit and the parking space is a big lie. dont book this hotel if you rely on a parking space!
- Paul (6/5): - Location was great in the old town. Very basic room with old furniture. Clean and tidy. Breakfast very simple, which need improving especially something basic like coffee.
- Eclair1951 (10/5): Lovely charming old hotel. - I stayed there as part of an Intrepid Travel tour group. This lovely retro old hotel is located right within the old town so very handy for seeing the sights. The olde worlde wood panelling and some old furnishings are gorgeous. My room was right at the top in an attic and was simply lovely, with comfortable double bed, good storage and aircon, and an attic window with a view of the street below. It was very clean and the staff were friendly and helpful.
- Holly (6/5): - The hotel was in a good location in the old town and staff were very friendly and helpful. However it was very noisy in our room due to the location and it was impossible to sleep at night.
- Henrik (10/5): Super hyggeligt hotel - Super hyggeligt hotel med fantastisk morgenbuffet.
- SurreyGirl27 (8/5): Boutique hotel in the heart of Kotor old town - A great boutique hotel in the heart of Kotor old town. The staff were amazing. My room (24) was probablythe best inthe hotel, sweet juliette balcony overlooking the narrow street, great comfortable double bed and good a/c and wifi.
A little dated in decor and furnishings could do with upgrading
The bathrom was rather small but plenty of hot water with good shower pressure, towels were small, but bathrobes provided. Essential as venturing onto the baconuy means your in everyones holiday photo
The room is noisy, expected for the location, church bells all night and partuygoers until about 4am. But close the shutters, and the doors and wear earplugs.
Breakfast was very basic, standard selection of couple of sliced meats, cheeses and pastries. The bread was very good (try the seeded one), coffee was average, tea selection was mainly herbal varieties and juuice wss not fresh
- Ailyn (10/5): - Old classic hotel feels inside the historic old town. Loved the church view from my window.
- Kattia (10/5): - La propiedad NOOOOO tiene parqueo, y en Expedia dice que cuenta con parqueo.
- Alan (10/5): - Location was amazing - enjoyed hearing the bells from the nearby church. Front rooms have an outstanding view onto the square in front of the hotel. Good breakfast. The lunch choices were great and hotel guests receive a discount. Lunch was a great value. Hotel staff was super helpful and very kind. Laundered locths at the hotel for 5 Euros for everything I had, assisted with cab to Budva, location of post office, restaurants etc. Great city - Charming historical hotel.
- sasho (8/5): - Uncofortable bads and matrases
- Snaptravel-767 (4/5): Terrible evening meal - We went here for our evening meal as we were staying at their sister hotel out of town and it was included in the price.
The waiter was really helpful but the meal was shocking. We had been given a choice in advance of pork, chicken, pasta or fish. The meat and fish just came with plain boiled rice, and a bowl of raw shredded cabbage. It was like prison food!
If you end up staying there, do yourself a favour and eat out.
- Michelle (10/5): - Good hotel. Location in centre of town means it can be noisy until 1am. Room larger than expected. Shower annoying as it didn’t have a stand for shower head. Not the cleanest of rooms, lots of heavy built up dust and small bits of rubbish around bed areas. Overall satisfying for a short stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Perfekt! - Zuckersüßes Hotel mitten in der Altstadt, inklusive gutem Frühstück.
- donald (10/5): - Recommended a great fish restaurant
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great hotel with friendly staff and good breakfast - Great hotel in Old Town. The windows are great and shut out most of the noise from the alleys below. They also had really good breakfast in the morning. The staff during both day and night were extremely friendly and accommodating.
- Matthew (8/5): Good Option - Good option for old town. Older building but comfortable.
- Matthew (8/5): Good value for location - Great location in the old town and fantastic value for the location, but the hotel is older and definitely worn. The room was comfortable but could have been cleaner, especially around the edges. The noise from the hallway was very loud. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Wifi and aircon worked well.
- 753otraveller (8/5): Pros and Cons - I spent and couple of nights here and have to say i had no problems at all. The hotel is right in the old town of Kotor so easy access to all the sights, bars and restaurants (and their is plenty to choose from). Also easy walking distance to bus station to Perast, Budvar and beyond. Room was comfortable, but as this is in the old town you need to aware that the rooms are small and somewhat outdated, similar to budget hotels in larger european cities. The breakfast was not to my taste so I passed on it and got something from the supermarket which was close by. There was no bottled water in room either which is my pet hate. Overall my stay my was good, friendly staff and loved being in the centre of things.
- Michelle (10/5): - Amazing location in old Town.
If you are driving, prepare to pay to park even though they advertise free parking. They advised me to park on the side of the road - a 10 minute walk from the hotel. Otherwise, the paid public lot across the street was the other option.
- santpedor (8/5): Ideal location - We stayed there for 4 nights during our tour of Montenegro. The situation of the hotel is ideal for visiting the old town .
There is a very good and reasonably priced restaurant which has a terrace in front of the hotel. We ate there several times. The food, wine and beer are very satisfactory.
Our only complaint was that our room was on the third floor and there is no lift. The room was fine but we had difficulty getting our suitcases up all those stairs .
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The location was perfect. Breakfast was good.
- doctorbobster (8/5): Comfortable, Clean, Convenient and Quiet - Booked into Hotel Marija by our travel company, we spent two nights at the hotel Marija and left satisfied. Read on for details.
Located a short walk from the west entrance as well as the entrance leading to the main square, the Hotel Marija features comfortably furnished rooms, a flat screen television and a usable desk area. The bed was comfortable for them while the pillow was too mushy for me. The French shutters closed from the outside and effectively dark into the room at night, the night that was very quiet. The bathroom has been updated but is small. There is a shower spray but no way to secure the spray high up to use as a shower.
The Wi-Fi was a little slow, but effective.
The manager, who is there from early until late, was friendly and very helpful.
If I return to Kotor, I would look forward to returning to Hotel Marija.
- Richard (8/5): - This hotel is situated in the historic walled city (which involves a short walk as no cars allowed), Having said that the city is truly beautiful. The hotel is a bit dated. The bed was incredibly old for instance and the shutters broken but the staff were really helpful.
- JuanT777 (8/5): Inside the walled city - Hotel Marija is a beautiful hotel in Kotor the old town surrounded us and it was magical at night.
The hotel offers complimentary breakfast and a great dinner for €10.
There are many family owned establishments outside the walls where you can get food and drinks even cheaper.
The staff was fantastic.
- Abdullah (6/5): So so hotel - It wasn’t so bad but it wasn’t so good hotel either. It was kinda old and the locking was pretty challenging for me also the breakfast was so so
- Robert (10/5): - This is a great place to stay in the old town of Kotor. Not only is the hotel really nice, but the staff are some of the most helpful I've encountered on my travels. I would definitely stay here again.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - No TV . It was clearly on their list of amenities.
Unsatisfactory check-in.
Was moved to 3 different rooms trying to find one with a TV that worked.
However......unsuccessful. I waste of a whole hour upon arriving.
Truthfully......Not that best experience .
They just didn’t want to deal with it. Nothing was offered for any inconvenience.
- SanyaMilo (10/5): Kotor new film destination! - Our film crew stayed here at Hotel Marija for a 10 days in the heart of Kotor! The actors from region and one Hollywood star were enjoying the November in Montenegro.
hospitality and a service of the hotel team really created great memories. The film name is “The Key”. We had excellent experience with Tourism organization of Kotor and Municipality!
Highlights on photos:
1. The cook was super food we adored
2. Cozy interior and friendly staff
3. Our filming mood in #Kotor
- richoh1 (10/5): Quick Lunch Only. - First time I have been back to Kotor and the Hotel Marija, where we stayed for a week in 2006, thankfully more than one member of staff now has a command of English, the town has changed quite a bit. Now lots of touristy boutique type shops, and has lost the lovely little old fashioned 'hole in the wall' shops that were there before, which sold virtually everything.
Has been put on the radar by the cruise ship fraternity, and the town was packed with visitors from a ship in the harbour.
Decided to sit outside and although offered the exceptionally good value 10Eu, 4 course lunch, went for a pasta dish, it was freshly cooked while we waited and extremely tasty with a lovely sauce. We had local dark (crno pivo) beers, again very flavourful.
- 574RichardD (6/5): Location has limitations - The major issue to consider when booking a room in Old Town is access. We drove right up close to the Sea Gate to unload our luggage but a policeman initially prohibited us from doing so and then relented allowing is to unload. Still that required my wife to haul four large suitcases (including two packed bicycles) for a few hundred meters, while I had to depart. Then once at the hotel she had to haul the suitcases up mercifully only one flight (no elevators). The room itself was reasonably large, with one double bed and a single bed that resembled somewhat a large crib and was a convenient place upon which to lay the luggage. Bathroom had a shower and a ventilation fan stuffed with tissue paper, perhaps to decrease the sound from its vibration.
We were quite familiar with Old Town having stayed in the area, so actually staying there was not so important to us. However, it would be a reasonable place to stay for a lightly travelling first time visitor. Be aware though that during the day it is very crowded with pax off the cruise ships. It was much more pleasant at night and there are good restaurants to enjoy.
Finally sound insulation isn't great, be it inside the hotel or the church bells or street noise outside.
- Bob (4/5): - The property has an amazing central location and for the money the room itself was fine. But it was the only hotel on my 9 day visit that had no mini bar nor toiletries just soap in the bathroom.
The main issue was the noise from the adjecent rooms: you can hear every conversation and even snoring and one morning from 4AM there was loud conversation for two hours!! And the most disappointing was that when I made the booking it said there was free parking. When I saw this was not mentioned on my booking receipt from Expedia I emailed the hotel to confirm as this was a refundable booking. I got back an email assuring me parking was free and not to worry. When I got Kotor I had to park in the public lot as cars are not allowed in the city. At the hotel they said there was no parking unless I wanted to go to another hotel they own a mile out of town and take taxis back and forth!! I showed the email but they said there was nothing they could do, there was no parking at the hotel! They called the owner who sent me the email and she said that the parking was at the other hotel!! To me this was ridicules so in the end I had to pay €20 a day (about $23) for the city parking. In the end they have me a discount which covered half the parking. So if you don't need parking and don't mind noise the location is great!!
- willoDorset (8/5): Set Lunch - Had read about the fixed price 10 euro lunch so gave it a go and wasnt disappointed although we much preferred the 7 euro Cattaro lunch given the option.
Is essentially a hotel in the middle of the Old Town on a busy thoroughfare so tables outside a bit busy but nice for people watching. We ate inside as no tables free outside. Good service with an excellent choice of dishes for a 3 course set menu for 10 euro.
This review only applies to the set lunch.
We had soup with bread, veal escalop with rice, grilled fish with rice, a tomato and cucumber salad, two deserts all for 20 Euro.
The hotel also has an ice cream stall outside and it was fascinating to watch the construction of ice cream rolls, so much so that we shared an after lunch ice cream roll.
- canuck456 (8/5): Hotel marija kotor - Great service & staff. Location is inside city gates with lots of atmosphere. Expect some noise from foot traffic, cats & church bells. Room bathrooms are modern & clean, beds are 2 star quality. Would stay here again
- Hsiang Lin (8/5): Great choice if staying in Kotor Old Town - Overall great choice to stay in the old town. A little bit old and lacking a few things but for the price it is absolutely worth it. My room window was towards the street and i had free music serenades throughout the day from the street performers. I will highly recommend this hotel. 9/10
- robert g mcbrain (10/5): Perfect little hotel in the old town. - Perfect little hotel in the old town!
- Douglas (8/5): Great location, in a great Old City - A hotel with a great location in Kotor. An older building which fits in well with the location. A standard breakfast buffet in the morning. Room was a bit old fashioned, but was clean and comfortable. I was surprised that there was not a kettle coffee/tea in the room, but not a deal breaker.
I think I might have had the best view in the hotel, room 24 which has the balcony at the front of the hotel, I was very happy with that. Some noise could be heard from old side due to the old style windows, but excellent service from the staff, mean I would happily stay here again.
- Christopher (10/5): 10/10 best place in Kotor! - Hotel Marija was absolutely fantastic! The staff were brilliant, the room we had was quite spacious. One of the best showers we had in Montenegro.
The location is perfect, close to everything in the old town and 10 minutes walk to the bus station, if that.
Breakfast is good.
If you had to really dig to find a fault you could say the hotel is slightly dated but again you're scrapping the barrel!
- Matt (8/5): Great location. - Great location. Hotel was good although the bed was not especially comfortable which made sleeping a bit difficult at times. Other than that we were happy with the hotel and staff were friendly. We couldn’t find any free self parking but there are lots of park places nearby and never had issues finding a place. Parking in the adjacent car park was 0.80 Euro per hour and you can park as along as you want.
- Colin (8/5): - Excellent location and everything was good at the hotel. They say that there is free parking which there is but it's about 2km away and you will need to take a taxi which will cost about 2 € if you have a car
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good value traditional motel. - Warm room but the TV was from the 80s and really fuzzy, esp trying to see the ball in tennis men's finals (US Open), breakfast filling and basic.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Hotel staff was very nice and helpful but the rooms/furniture were pretty old. Also a lot of families stay in this hotel so be prepared for kids running around. On a separate note, the hotel was very central.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff was very friendly. We have to leave early in the morning and they gave us breakfast to go. Only one disappointment in this hotel - no elevator.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Overbooked - We arrived after having a confirmation email to find they did not have a room for us. They said they had not record of our booking.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Great location at affordable price - Good value for money. Hotel is safe and staff of friendly. Interior is a bit old and decor is very simple but it's a good hotel in the area for low budget travelers. I would stay again. Kotor itself is wonderful and worth a visit.
- andrew (10/5): Wonderful to look out the window - Good location , great helpful staff, watch the street life and tours passing by. Noisy conversations drift up at night but the place is worth it
- alun (2/5): Failed to honour reservation. Avoid. - Turned up at 9pm with reservation. Told that they had no room. Appalling practice.
- Jon (8/5): right in old town, easy to find, a little noisy - Hotel Marija is located right in Old Town. It is an easy find through the main gate. The hotel itself has an older feel to it which I did like, the only negative side is the windows in the rooms. Considering this is right in the city it can be a bit noisy and closing the windows doesnt seem to help because of their age. I found the price to be reasonable and the included breakfast was your standard European cold breakfast.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Right in the old town - This was a nice little hotel right in the heart of the old town. The rooms were basic and the beds on the small side however was comfy. Breakfast was good with a selection from the kitchen and what was on the buffet. Staff were very helpful with booking a taxi to the airport and having the driver come into the old town to assist with carrying bags.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Decent place in prime location - The location is great, although location within Old Town is probably equal. The common areas, and the breakfast/restaurant area are extremely clean and updated, but the rooms were a little less so. The room was comfortable enough, but had the sort of feel that the linens, furniture and fixtures were just a little too old, so you get that feeling that it could probably be a little cleaner, despite the great efforts of the staff. The rooms have AC, which was a plus, but kicked up a bunch of dirt and dust. Small old TV (but nobody should go there to watch TV) and a minifridge in the room.
- maria (8/5): Beautiful hotel, but noisy! - The hotel was beautiful and in a great location in old town kotor. Overall pretty comfortable, except AC was broken and it was so noisy in the morning due to location
- psmeier (2/5): Really Really Bad - Besides its location, everything about this hotel is bad. Old dingy interiors, uncomfortable furnishings, inedible food, noisy surroundings. Just bad.
