- Jessyka (8/5): Nice short stay - Very safely located, they have laundry services and were able to store my luggague. Big rooms with balcony which was nice. The staff was very nice and helpful! I stayed here prior and during a Gadventures tour, was nice for a short stay. Laundry service is too expensive, breakfast was basic and rooms somewhat old.
- Brenda (10/5): We basically went there because it was close to the coliseo. The environment was very nice the three of us had our own k - It was clean and the staff was so friendly
- Guadalupe (10/5): Bonita experiencia - Excelente servicio, y muy amable atención por parte trabajadores, bonitas instalaciones muy limpio y muy bien ubicado, recomendadisimo
- Peter & Rosemary (9/5): Happy with stay - Friendly stafflppp Steep stairs
- Allen (9/5): Excellent value for money. - Excellent front desk staff so helpful No lift
- Selina (8/5): -
- Elitsa (8/5): - Quiet rooms, comfy bed. In close proximity to plaza Foch. Breakfast was very basic- eggs, bread and fruit. Paying per hour to stowaway your luggage is too expensive while most hotels provide this for free.
- Georgia (10/5): -
- Lisa (7/5): Good location for a few nights in Quito. - Location is good. There is a supermarket close by and some nice restaurants in the area too.
Rooms were comfortable although abit cold. They charge for you to store your luggage after check out.
Rooms were abit cold.
- Hannah (9/5): Superb -
- Hannah (9/5): Superb -
- Frances (10/5): Exceptional - I ended up staying for 3 nights at this hotel ( one night booked myself on booking.com and 2 nights with an organised group tour I was on).
The staff were very welcoming and friendly. My rooms were clean and comfortable and I slept very well there. One of the rooms I had on the top floor had a lovely balcony and outdoor seating area with great views towards the mountains.
They have a rooftop area with tables and chairs which although basic was a nice space to sit and socialise with a cold beer which they sell for a reasonable price.
There are a couple of small shops early to pick up supplies and a few decent restaurants in easy walking distance I was very happy with my stay here
- Adam (9/5): Good value for money - Very friendly and helpful staff, comfortable clean bed and good breakfast. Would be good to have a kettle in the room and tea/coffee making facilities.
- Ruth (10/5): Great hotel in Quito. I look forward to returning! - Very interesting unique design.
Good breakfast.
Safe. No chain lock on room door.
- Emily (8/5): Very good -
- Rosy (8/5): Staff is very helpful. - Breakfast is OK. Location is fine. Staying in the hotel as a member of a tour group, one gets a buffet breakfast. Otherwise it’s a continental breakfast.
- Ajay (5/5): Could be much bettee with some tlc - Room was small. Outdated furniture and paintwork. Room size. Useful stirage space
- Donna (7/5): It was good value - Quaint hotel. Lots of character. Area was somewhat noisy and hallway noise carried into rooms.
Breakfast venue could be nicer in decor and menu although fruit cup was delicious.
- Myla (10/5): It was an excellent experience, and I'd stay there again if I'm ever in Quito. -
- David (8/5): Great value and wonderful staff! - Very nice accommodation’s and the staff were great. There are several floors and only stairs. Some in our group struggled but were admittedly out of shape.
- Valerie (9/5): Superb - Kitu is a hotel in a traditional style in a safe area of Quito within reasonable distance (by taxi or metro) to the old town. Staff were outstanding: friendly and helpful. The rooms vary in size but were comfortable. Be prepared for teeny bathrooms and older fittings in the room. The breakfasts were filling but not too exciting.
- Kathytravel (10/5): I will keep.coming back! - It's my second time in this hotel and the place is consistently good and comfortable! The staff is kind and welcoming. I will keep coming back. I liked everything!
- Ellen (7/5): Good -
- Collette (10/5): Exceptional -
- Darren (9/5): I would definitely stay there again. - I liked everything about the hotel.
- Paul (8/5): Good value, friendly hotel in safe area of Quito. - Good, safe location in Mariscal, outside the historic Old Town. Comfy room, all facilities function well, helpful reception staff, adequate breakfast. Very good overall. The breakfast was uninspiring. What ingredients could they have used to create the horrid breakfast rolls?
- Esra (10/5): Very good - Breakfast, rooms, service Far away from the city centre and old town.
- Santos (8/5): Very good -
- Salman (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bolton (10/5): Exceptional -
- Doug (10/5): Beautifully maintained historic hotel. - We were in the room pictured above and it was old world beautiful. Breakfast. It was ok but would have preferred ham slices that are thicker as well as the cheese.
- Lucia (7/5): Good -
- Angela (9/5): Great staff, beautiful house and great location - We chose Kitu Hotel to finish our honeymoon in Ecuador and the hotel staff were incredibly kind and helpful. They helped us book a taxi to go from and to the airport as well as upgraded us to a better room when they heard we were on our honeymoon. The location is great surrounded by nice restaurants and shops. The breakfast could be improved. The hotel doesn't "own" the bar, they just collaborate with the restaurant next door. The offer and quality of the food could be improved.
- Perry (10/5): Exceptional - We had the most friendly welcome from the owner / manager. Couldn’t help enough. Good breakfast options and a lovely room.
- Denis (10/5): - Great check in process, very friendly and helpful staff, even for a late arrival.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Cold water showers & attitude from staff - Run down place with lots of creepy religious art. No hot water multiple mornings. Lousy breakfast included. Condescending front desk staff.
- Kevin (10/5): Fantastic People - Everything was great, really enjoyed my stay.
- Nelson (9/5): Superb -
- Laura (10/5): Fantastic little place which felt like home - A lovely little hotel which felt like home between our tours. The rooms were decent sized and clean. Hot showers! The staff were fantastic. The man named Augusto on reception desk looked after us so well! Helping us sort out day trips and gave good restaurant recommendations. Richard was really helpful too! Slight sewage smell from the drains in the bathroom
- Ian (8/5): Extremely friendly and helpful staff. - Nice design and extremely helpful and friendly staff. For the price, I would have expected cable tv (it was fuzzy antenna channels and a glitchy Roku type box that hardly worked) and purified water.
- Lynda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Whitney (7/5): Good -
- Karen (8/5): Very good -
- Suzanne (10/5): Lovely place with nice rooms and exceptional staff. - Staff was exceptional in helping plan outings and taking care of details - very friendly.
- Morales (8/5): Very good - They made arrangements for a taxi to pick me up/drop me off at/from airport and did not overcharge. Breakfast was extremely salty
TV only showed one channel
Receptionist tried to swipe my card again because something on their system was not working when I had already received confirmation from my bank that the payment had gone through
- John (7/5): Robbery Central — Be Careful!! - Lovely hotel BUT….see below…. Robbery Central! Be careful, this hotel is targeted by organized criminals. Three different individuals all physically assaulted and robbed within hours of arrival a couple of blocks from the hotel. One had a gun put into her face. She actually just dropped her bags at the hotel and the staff sent her to an area for lunch that just so happened to have a gunman wait8 g for her! This is the truth. Yes, lovely hotel but super dangerous.
- Gillian (7/5): Good -
- Halyna (10/5): Exceptional - Stuff went up and beyond to help us in all questions
- Nigel (7/5): Tired facilities - Good location
Pleasant staff
Comfortable beds, good linen
Good lighting in bedroom
Good water pressure @ temperature Needs updating, tired facilities
Parking space very narrow, filled with building materials. Dol 8 daily rate unacceptable.
Shower bath tub unsafe-narrow,slippery, no grab raíl.
Breakfast area in poor condition, table tops unhygenic.
- Tom (10/5): - The rooms are spacious and well decorated. We’ve stayed here 3 times and especially like the rooms on the top floor that have patios facing the mountains. There’s no elevator so it’s a hike to the fourth floor. The staff always helps us with our luggage.
- Tom (10/5): - Great room and staff. This is our second stay and we’re looking forward to returning.
- Jon (8/5): Very good - Stay in Room 11 w King bed and rooftop terrace No elevator
- Manuel (5/5): Passable -
- Lora (9/5): Superb -
- Elanor (5/5): Passable -
- Damyan (8/5): comfortable stay in a great location - very friendly and attentive personnel, great location, comfortable room
- Caroline (9/5): Superb - The room was pretty. The staff was nice. The entrance was very secure. Great hot water, great bathroom with soap dispenser, etc. The room was a bit small and the windows gave directly on the shared terrace so we had to keep the curtains closed. I am not sure if it was the water next to the reception (I learned later that it was filtered, not bottled), but I was unfortunatly sick the whole time I stayed there. There could be more than 2 chairs on the terrace.
- M. (10/5): Good hotel with amazing staff - The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They assisted us with a lot of things, such as safety precautions in Quito, transport options, ecuadorian telephone number/mobile internet and so on.
- susan (10/5): - We had several options to choose from and we are so glad we picked this place. We had the room with the balcony that had a great view of the city and surrounding hills. There were a couple of great restaurants just a block or two away for dinner. But best of all was the Nadia at the front desk. She was so friendly and helpful. She never tired of our never ending questions and requests. We would come back again and again!!!
- David (10/5): Kitu like home in Quito - Like a home away from home! Sound cliché, but that is exactly what we felt at Kitu Hotel. Very friendly and extremely helpful staff, ecofriendly environment, great view of the city, clean and comfortable.
- estelle (10/5): Idea for a single traveler if your considering.. - Very conscience staff. Once i booked the accommodation I continued to contact the hotel for advise. Nadia organized taxi, with the mans car details, name and where i should be at the airport.
Exceptional service for a person who has never been to Ecuador. The hotel has many repeat visitors from all over the world, i was rather impressed.
- Sue (10/5): - Really pretty hotel and helpful staff in a good place
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A quaint hotel in Quito. Friendly staff , excellent area within walking distance to restaurants , brewery, Mercado & a SuperMaxi . The staff was knowledgeable . As my first trip to Ecuador this will give me a great memory. A big shout out to everyone at Cruz Lima!
Thank you!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I arrived early in the morning on an international flight and was still allowed into my room right away. The desk staff was very friendly, helpful and spoke excellent English. Breakfast in the attached restaurant was tasty and cost only $3. The rooms were spotlessly clean and very reasonably priced. The building is older and has no elevator, and at night there was some noise from hall/staircase and the street, but that just comes with the territory. The neighborhood is safe and walkable, with restaurants, a grocery store, and small markets for water/snacks very nearby.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great breakfast! Very helpful and friendly staff. Rooms are spacious and well appointed. Lots of hot water.
- Shannon (10/5): Good location, clean, great price! - The professor and department chair of our department stays here every other summer before he heads out to the Andes for field research. I book it for him every time -- he loves it here!
- Jemma (8/5): One night only - We stayed at Sierra Madre for one night. The room was a good size and had a large balcony. However when speaking to friends it was overpriced compared to other rooms in the city. That said, the staff were friendly and the breakfast good.
- julie (10/5): Charming little hotel - Really cute hotel. Located near the nightlife area but far enough away so not loud or crazy. The beds are very comfy and the room was clean and the staff was welcoming. We paid about $60 a night (including taxes).
- Jaqueisse (8/5): Simple Place, Good value for money - Offers a hotel shuttle which consists of hiring a registered taxi for you from airport. Cost ~30 USD, airport about 40 minutes away. Rooms are very simple but clean. No fridge/AC/heat. Situated right in Mariscal Sucre area which is hotspot for restaurants, shops, etc, so easy to find food to eat. Since its in middle of the city, can be loud at night with music, car noises, etc.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Lovely - We had a lovely stay before heading out to the Amazon basin. The hotel is really nice, old world charming, with WiFi and good breakfast included.
- Leslie (8/5): Kind, considerate staff, and comfortable hotel - I was in Quito for a layover. This hotel's staff was exceptionally friendly, helpful, and kind. I (a solo female traveller), arrived in the hotel later at night. As it was too late for me to comfortably venture out for dinner, the man at the front desk ordered a pizza for me. I had a single day in Quito before my flight late the following night. So, in the morning, the woman at the front desk sat down with me and went over a map of places to go and things to see. I particularly appreciated the woman's candour in noting areas that would not be safe for me to go alone, even in the daytime. While I ventured out for the day, the hotel stored my belongings (I had checked out that morning). What was exceptionally considerate was when I returned to the hotel and still had a few hours to kill before heading to the airport for a midnight flight, the same man at the front desk from the night before gave me a room free of charge to rest in before my flight. I greatly appreciated the staff at this hotel (and the woman running the breakfast was also very cheerful and friendly).
- Verified traveler (2/5): NO! GO Elsewhere. - Hotel was overbooked. Reserved a room with a balcony for 2 nights of vacation. But, when we arrived to check in, we were given a broom closet. The shower did not work, no hot water and no water pressure. Maintenace kept us waiting after midnight, the maintenance man could not fix the shower and said the hotel was aware of the problem before we checked in. Hotel staff working the late shift said nothing they could do since all the other rooms were taken. So our first day was disasterous, after a long flight and not able to shower. On the second day, a huge group checked out, the manager finally agreed to give us another room, however, we were so exhausted from the previous night our short stay was not enjoyable. Older hotel that shows and smells like it.
- Steve (8/5): Charming Hotel with Outstanding service - The Sierra Madre is a charming old boutique hotel. They have an excellent staff who were outstanding in their desire to help. They serve an excellent full breakfast with cheerful service. Walking distance to Plaza Foch and parks and short taxi rides to Colonial Quito. Great views from the upstairs terrace.
