- Penny (8/5): Perfect quick stop over - Rooms a little basic but that is reflected in the price. The location is excellent and staff very helpful and pleasant. A USB charger would be useful. It wasn’t a problem for me but I do think that hotels need to consider that this is something used as much as normal plug sockets now and consider upgrading outlets.

- Roberta (7/5): - Lovely, spacious room. Great location. Particularly want to commend Devon and Kevin who truly went above and beyond and kept smiling. Breakfast was not great. But major problem was that nights were in mid to low forties and manager refused to provide heat, according to him it was too warm to turn on heat. Thankfully Devon provided me with 2 space heaters which took the chill off. There were no outlets near the bed. My impression was that it was once a nice hotel but is now on a steep downward trajectory. I wouldn't not recommend it but I would suggest adjusting expectations if you book it.

- shane (5/5): Needs improving - Location great. Although people with mobility issue be warned hotel up steep hills Mattress severely damaged needed replacing hotel needs updating. Had a meal 15ph excluding starter drinks pud, was revolting . Chicken curry more like soup. Complained no refund offered.

Then bar music, customers smoking weed and arriving with half blown up balloons in thier mouths filled with whatever-Rowdy bar, had to walk though the crowd and bar to put suitcases in room. 80s decor, basic but clean bathroom.Bed like a rock etc

Very noisy, no parking and poor breakfast - The location is good for the theatre Booked as has free parking but on arrival discovered a drug fuelled rave was in full swing with extremely loud music and the had to pay over £11 for parking as the car park was full, also waited nearly an hour for breakfast which consisted of 2 sausages, an egg and some cold beans!!

- Josie (3/5): I would not stay again - We found the bed comfortable We could not find the property It would have been really helpful to tell us it was at Applebys bar We drove past it several times and had to call the hotel The room was dated and the mirror was behind the tv The breakfast was really awful The service was appalling No plates No cups Table dirty and not ready No bowls for cereal No coffee Cooked breakfast cold , scrambled egg did not look like scrambled egg and contained eggshell They ran out of bacon Everybody was moaning They said one member of staff did not turn up but even when he did he did not help One poor woman was trying to do everything
- Ian (7/5): Apart from the little things mentioned, it is a lovely old hotel and the stay was enjoyable. I would recommend it to any - Location, outside space and views and friendly staff. Very spacious rooms. The rooms were a bit cold at the time of my visit (April/May 2026). The heating wasn’t working and was told this is because it was summer time and the heating was turned off. The rooms we had were a bit tired and in need of some maintenance. The shower head was full of black limescale.

- Zena (10/5): - All staff was very polite and friendly couldn't do enough for you .I got a very large clean bedroom room i had was room 22 very quiet room could not ear pub noise when in my room bathroom very clean .cleaners always topped my tea,coffee and sugar up got plenty of free biscuits loved my stay would definitely book hear again. Only thing I didn't like was very loud life music on Saturday and Sunday night s out on patio full of younger youths but that's just my age that can't stand loud music but at least they was no trouble

There was a reggae/dub event going on when we arrived which was very noisy and made me a bit concerned about my choice as I’d had a long day of driving but that finished at a reasonable time in the early evening and everything was peaceful for the rest of our stay.

- Christopher (9/5): Outstanding value for money - The room was outstanding ,effectively a suite ,very well furnished with comfortable beds. Bathroom was spotless. Lovely view over the bay. Breakfast was not outstanding but it was included in price. Breakfast room was bright and sunny with lovely view. Bar did not have ice

- Peter (7/5): Inexpensive, more a pub with rooms rather than an all out hotel. Overnight bolt hole for workers. - Literally 2 minutes walk down to the seafront, not too steep. Close to some bistros and restaurants but you would do better to venture towards the marina for better restaurants. Both our rooms had views of the waves coming into the bay. Good sized rooms. All a bit tired, disappointing considering this was April and early in the season! Perfectly clean and functional.

- Mellett (10/5): Definitely not Fawlty Towers - We had a very pleasant stay at the heritage hotel . All staff were very welcoming , the food was very nice and the drinks were reasonably priced . The room was clean & tidy the bed was very comfortable and facilities were very acceptable. Good location for the princess theatre and a stroll into town . Only slight criticism is our room was at the front of the hotel meaning you could hear a lot of the "outside noise's"

Breakfast was lovely and the staff member was very helpful in the morning. Bar was loud in the evening but as we were going out until very late, it didnt bother us, but may not be suitable for young families. Room was spacious and comfortable. Would 100% stay again. Lights in car park and on outside steps could be helpful, when coming back to hotel late.

People who lived locally could use the pool anytime of day.

- Linda (8/5): Wow! What a view! - The location is fantastic and I had a view of the sea from my room. It's basic, which is ideal, and excellent value for money. The staff were very friendly. Full English breakfast was included in the price and they adapted it to be gluten free for me. It's served in the conservatory area of the bar with fantastic views of the sea. I searched for the hotel on Google maps and it looked like a little back street B&B. In fact it's a small hotel with a bar and a large terrace for eating and drinking overlooking the Bay. Breakfast took ages to come on the first morning.

- Sharney (9/5): Amazing value, huge room, incredible views from large bay windows, great swimming pool - I absolutely love this hotel, lovely staff, beautiful, massive room and multiple huge bay windows to a beautiful sea view. Lovely warm indoor swimming pool and large terrace overlooking the sea. Great parking, good atmosphere and reviews and I also heard many great reviews about the hotel and events they put on from local residents. Can't wait to stay here again with my husband. There wasn't much I didn't like, but to be super picky the cleaning of the room and communal doors could have been to a higher standard and there was a little wear on the carpets, yet the carpets were surprisingly clean much more than many other hotels I've stayed at. Would of been nice to of been able to use the sauna.

The rooms weren't very clean ,needs updating with furniture & carpets had stains , pool was limited time slots so didnt use it . Bar downstairs was used frequneted by locals during my stay where too much drink/ drugs being consumed, no security was present to oversea . Not recommended for families .
