- Lisa (6/5): - I stayed for two nights and never saw any staff. My key was left at the front desk but did not get a basic overview of the building. Safety was questionable as all the doors were open late for anyone to enter guest room area. The room was great and very comfy but the road noise was very loud. You will need to use white noise to sleep. Bathrooms are very nice as well.

- Dianne M (10/5): - This is our second visit to the Cornerstone Inn and we’ll come back again if we’re in the area. It’s a quaint, clean, well appointed hometown hotel. There are only 7 rooms, we’ve stayed in #3 both times. They offer a basic continental breakfast, nothing special. There is a coffee shop next door at street level. There is also an underground bar that’s cool in the basement (the W Down Under) with limited food offferings. There are a few restaurants within walking distance. Lots of unique shops in the area. The hotel is old but VERY clean, high ceilings, big windows, ann old brick building. Cool.

All 3 times that we have stayed there the bathroom is freezing in the summertime and there is no way to control it. I know it is hot and humid, but save yourself some money and set it warmer than 67. It has a lot of stairs. There is a small, old elevator, but you still need to climb 6 steps. The street noise and trains can be loud at times.

Cute coffee shop below and under that is a great pub. Amazing restaurant, Tangled Roots, just across the square. Spacious rooms and quiet. Very safe! The bed was too firm but if you like that you are set.

The room was spacious and thoughtfully designed. The only minor issue was that we could hear some noise from the bar three floors down. It wasn’t overly loud, but light sleepers might want to bring earplugs. Other than that, everything was perfect, and we would stay here again!

- ken (4/5): - Our room had huge windows that were paper thin. We could hear every car truck and motor vehicle go by all evening long. We also could hear a lot of loud music from a bar in the basement of the building and people laughing and talking outside our window until approximately 2 AM. Our room also had large windows that faced to the inside of the building toward the hallway, which was extremely well lit. Unfortunately, it also lit up our room all night long. The stairs in the Inn, are very steep and quite narrow. If you are anyone with any type of mobility issue, this is not a place for you. Additionally, we never saw a single staff member during our one week day. Anything we needed, we had to text a phone number to get. We found that pretty inconvenient at times. All in all, I would not stay there again because I did not find it the least bit restful.

Very tall windows which were unable to be covered completely so room was not dark at night. Bed was too hard for my liking. Nobody was at front desk at all during our stay. Keys were left on front counter in an envelope. A bit of a safety issue in my opinion. No deadbolt on door of room, just a small flip lock.

Nice traffic circle and park view from our room window. We didn’t try the continental breakfast, but tried to get a bottle of water from that area and all there was in the fridge was a filtered pitcher of water.

Washington is a quaint little town, and we liked how this older building was renovated with a modern and clean look. It was very quiet during our staff and a continental breakfast was easily accessible when we left early in the morning. We would return if we visit the area again, and we'd love to take more time to explore the area.

If quiet is what you seek then this may not be the place for you. You can hear kids running the halls and cars pass outside. Rooms are excellent and big. Bed is nice, bring your own pillows. AC in the room kept up with our polar bear needs. I’d say again for another 1 night trip.

- RYAN (10/5): - This is a beautiful property - it is unique in the sense that the property is composed of only 7 rooms in total. But this uniqueness makes it very special. The owner/manager is accomodating and has an open, beautiful personality. The rooms are beautiful and super clean. I have never stayed in a hotel like this and was quite leary when I pulled up to the door, but I found the property to be exactly what I like. My stay was different, unique, but absolutely pleasant and beautiful. I spoke with Josie several times, before and during my stay. She is a super manager and her accomodating attitude made a big difference in my satisfaction level. I don't know who designed the rooms at this property, but it was definitely top-notch!

Helpful informative book in the unit answered any questions we had. Nice to have the breakfast items out and ready. Loved the variety of K Cup pods and mix of quick pastry bites. I wish yogurt could have offered options for ones with less sugar and protein options like hard boiled eggs would have been available. Fresh fruit was really nice. The room was wonderful! Clean, spacious, comfortable bed, extra blankets, just right soap - enough without being wasteful. Only "cherry on top" would have been if they offered a cozy robe! There was nothing I did not like!

- Verified traveler (6/5): Good - We arrived at 6:00 PM and found no one at the desk, but an envelope with our name on it contained the keys and info. we needed. The inn is beautifully updated. If you are into character and charm, you will enjoy it. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. We didn't have any hot water (barely luke warm) and the tv was smaller than a computer monitor. Also, the noise from the street was terrible. The walls are thin. There were drunk people talking loudly in the street below in the middle of the night (I'm assuming patrons of the bar downstairs waiting for a ride). The lack of hot water and the noise were deal breakers for us. We were just passing through on a road trip, so just wanted hot showers, quiet and tv to wind down. The town itself looks charming, but since we were just passing through, we were gone before any of the of the stores opened in the morning. We were thankful that there was coffee, donuts, yogurt, cereal and fruit available early.

- cynthiarQ6VD (4/5): The noise, noise, noise, noise! - My husband and I booked two rooms at the Cornerstone Inn as we were traveling with my elderly mother to spend Thanksgiving with friends in a nearby town. We chose this property because of its uniqueness, closeness to shops and reviews that said it was quiet. However, during our 4-day, 3-night stay I kept thinking of a quote from The Grinch, "The noise, noise, noise, noise!" There was more noise in the inn from other guests than what we anticipated; including people coming in to the property and talking and laughing loudly in the halls late in the evening. But the bigger problem came from outside. Late at night there were people coming in and out of the bar located in the basement of the property. They would stand outside by their cars arguing and shouting. Also, the night before Thanksgiving it sounded like there was live music in the bar and the music went on late into the night. Then there are the trucks. We thought that it would be quiet in this small town. However, there must be a FedEx hub nearby because trucks were going through the roundabout at all hours of the day and night, sometimes several trucks in a row. Other traffic was loud as well. It seems as though the town square on which the property is located is a main thoroughfare for the area. We all got very little sleep for the three nights we were there. While the rooms are clean and spacious, the property itself is a bit inconvenient. First, the entrance is not in an obvious place. We had to get help from an employee at the coffee shop located on the main floor to even find it in the dark. Also, the inn does not have its own parking lot. You have to park in a public parking lot nearby. There is a spot where you can park to load and unload for 15 minutes that is right by the door. Then, there are no luggage carts to haul your bags up to the third floor. There is an elevator, but when you get to the third floor you still have to go up an additional six steps to get to the rooms so the property definitely isn't accessible. There is usually no one at the front desk however, two names and phone numbers are provided of people you can call if you need something. When you arrive you find an envelope with your name on it lying on the front counter and it has your room keys in it. The heating/cooling system seems to have a mind of its own and we could not successfully keep the temperature in our rooms regulated as we wanted them. Sometimes the system would run even though we had it turned off! The "breakfast" is a selection of cereals, fruit and prepackaged rolls. Not great but better than nothing. We wish we had stayed at our usual suites hotel. My advice, stay somewhere else.

- ian (10/5): Great family location - Great place to stay with the family. The appartment room was large and modern. A great place to stay. Never saw any staff the entire stay. Didn’t really matter , we picked up our keys at reception and dropped them off when we were done.

- Elizabeth (10/5): Lovely Inn in Washington, IL - Lovely accommodations! We were in Room 4 which overlooks Main St but was mostly quiet. Very clean, nicely appointed, comfy bed. Looks like the building was recently renovated from a bank to a 7 room Inn. Simple, basic continental breakfast. Very nice!

- Andrew (10/5): Quiet & comfortable - There's only 6 rooms at this location, it used to be a bank. Coffee shop is on the first floor(which has good coffee), and restaurant in the basement we didn't make it to. Rooms are big with 12-14ft high ceilings.
- Patricia (8/5): - Love the uniqueness. My second stay. Had room 4 the first time. This time room 7. Want room 4 again next time. Room 7 could use a small table and 2 chairs in space across from closet by window. Also, need artificial sweeteners available in rooms and in breakfast room. Had to keep opening the prepackaged condiments just to get a couple of sweeteners. Need coffee cup sleeves available to keep from burning your hand on filled cup. The music from the downstairs bar kept us awake until they closed.
