Guest Reviews
- James Marc (10/5): - The location is great white sand beach and nearby kota beach.great for swimming. The property is extremely well maintained and staff are great
- David (10/5): - The staff was amazing, they were attentive. Peaceful, beautiful view.
- Jason (10/5): - Wonderful staff… the location is awesome… food is just okay, could do better on the drinks… but over all great
- john (6/5): - Good beach and close to Kota Beach sandbar. However, facility needs renovation with no hot water and toilet was leaking in the bathroom. Breakfast is just ok.
- christopher (10/5): - The staff is so incredibly friendly and helpful. Location is amazing and the beaches are the best around the corner! Security is amazing too. Love it here
- DEXTER (10/5): - Clean and bk was great
- Burkhard (8/5): Sehr zu empfehlen - Insgesamt schönes Hotel, gut gelegen, sehr freundliche Mitarbeiter. Qualität der Speisen im Restaurant sehr gut, Preise mehr als angemessen. Liegen in teils schlechtem Zustand. Habe den Aufenthalt genossen.
- Michelle (8/5): - We had a beachfront room with balcony. Room is clean although the bathroom has sewer smell once in a while and some fixtures needs replacement as getting old and rusty. Staff is very friendly. Buffet breakfast is just ok. The location is close to many restaurants but still the area feels private and quiet. The beach is very nice and feels private.
- Aletheia (10/5): - I honestly wasn't expecting much from the property since it was still available while the other lodging places in the area were sold out. All I can say is that I am very impressed with everything, from service, to how everything looked, food was also great. They also offer pick up and drop off service which was a huge plus. I will come back and I highly recommend this place! 5/5!
- Karin (8/5): Underbar personal på ett mysigt hotell - Otroligt vänlig och hjälpsam personal.
Gör det lilla extra som man uppskattar mycket.
- Alexandra (10/5): Simply Wonderful - My husband and I came here for our honeymoon, and it was all around wonderful. The workers were attentive, helpful, and nice. It is right on Kota Beach and MJ square. The cocktails were amazing. I would absolutely stay here again. Thank you Marlins Resort!!
- Alan (8/5): - Breakfast choices are very good.
- sheryl (8/5): - The staff are very friendly & accommodating. The beach is awesome!
- Neil (8/5): - Didn’t exactly stay but viewed my room & property & it was lovely
- Madel (8/5): It’s an ok place to stay for 1 night - It was ok. It’s closed to small restaurants. It’s a little bit pricey .
- Jennifer (8/5): - The menu is limited- I stayed for 7nts, the breakfast menu did not change. I recommend variety on the menu.
The ramp railing to go down the beach gets very hot, I slipped and fell because the railing was extremely hot.
I recommend wrapping the railing with something to prevent it from getting very hot.,
- Paul (8/5): - Nice place
- john (8/5): - Beachfront location
- Tyler (10/5): - It's a wonderful resort! The only complaint we have is that the AC wasn't working on the last night of our stay.
- Veronica (6/5): - My room was on the street side. The construction and vehicle noise started at 6:30 am.
- Kayla (10/5): - Right on the beach! The staff was great and the location is perfect, within easy walking distance of Santa Fe's restaurants and tourism scene.
- may (10/5): - Fast to the port, perfect water. Both beach and walk in to the medium part. Water is very warm in this area which is perfect. Things i didn't like are the plastics in the water. But that is for the whole island. I think they need to get together and get all the plastics off the beach and out of the water throughout the island.
- Daniel (6/5): Meh. - The rooms are okay. The restaurant is slow and below average. The beach has good views.
- Arnold (10/5): Solo cation in Paradise - Beachfront resort in Beautiful Bantayan stone throws away from the nearby restaurants. Although room is a little outdated it's still clean and cozy. Big enough for 3 people. Will comeback soon with Friends.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location
Great people
No TV
No internet
No room service
No spa
Restaurant and food so-so
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We are an older couple and had stayed at a more rustic resort a little nearer the port before moving to Marlins. Had a beach front room 32 ground floor , the nearest the sea.. almost new inside! Had things the 1st resort didn't. Quiet spot AC, hot water in sink, shower a lot more powerful, better lights, mirrors, tea/coffee making . Good buffet breakfast, better beach. Beach gets better further from the port and for swimming is best nearer the sandbar 4 mins away. Has ferry shuttle and only couple minutes walk to restaurants. Staff helpful and can arrange Island hopping from beach in front. Would definitely recommend!
Only downside was the transport arranged to get back to airport. Driver was in his old maroon van and did not look for us after we got of ferry. Found him by accident! Within a few minutes driving he was texting on phone and answering calls ...no hands free. Wife asked him to stop whilst he was talking on phone. He did not like that and continued to drive in a very jerky manner for the rest of the 3 hour trip. He pulled into a petrol station and demanded his 3500 fare. We thought for buying petrol but he just pulled out and continued. When at the airport he just stopped and sat in his seat with engine running, whilst we struggled with our bags. So rude and not a good end to a great holiday. Fellow traveler at marlins only paid 2500 after haggling with taxi driver at airport. Beware! But Marlins was a great experience!
Stayed 4 night. This hotel is totally quite fine. They have beautiful long beach and downtown access are also helpful.
Though facility and condition depend on the room, seaside room is great which makes you so comfortable and you have great relaxed time.
I will visit again, if i can keep the seaside room.
- James (8/5): - The new and remodeled rooms are much nicer than the economy rooms. New dining area is very nice. Great location in town.
- Paul (8/5): Great location helpful and friendly staff - Friendly helpful staff. Wonderful location right on the beach.Only issue was on checking in the room did not have a fridge so they moved us to a room with a fridge however Air Con not good in that room so they moved us to a third room also with Broken Air Con. However after this they moved us to a beach front room which was more expensive for the same price so in the end we were extremely happy.
- Chad (8/5): Great resort on remote island - Right in the beautiful beach with very friendly staff (especially at the restaurant)! Fantastic price for room and at the restaurant for dinner/drinks! Breakfast was very nice too! Jerry was able to coordinate our transportation too which was A+++. Couple of areas for improvement...AC couldn’t keep room cool enough and would only work when you were in the room (electric key card inserted)...personally I would rather be charged more $ and always have a cool room! Like many other reviews, we were accused of taking a $1 plastic coffee cup from the room at checkout. That is just absurd...stop accusing guests of theft as it leaves a bad taste after an otherwise wonderful experience and price in occasionally missing items to your nightly costs.
- John (10/5): - This is a great family/couple friendly resort, the surroundings are beautiful, location is the best on the island and the staff are wonderful. Highly recommend this resort, I will return for sure.
- tanaka (8/5): - The hotel staff can only speak English, so I was a little troubled.
- Jeffrey (6/5): - Pls provide basic room amenities such as instant coffee / tea and kettle.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Our 2nd visit - This was our 2nd visit to Bantayan and decided to go back to Marlin, it was different from the first visit last March as it was on their high season. Didn't know that we were in low season and thing were different....NO Breakfast Buffet, the Hotel was being renovated, Not as much employees around abit quiter. They do have a free pick up and dropped off shuttle from Santa Fe pier.
- Jamie (6/5): Great Service and Friendly Staff - The hotel offered free transfers to and from the port. When we got to the port there was a nice van waiting for us to take us to the resort.
The resort is conveniently located 1 min away from the street where the restaurants are.
They have beach chairs that are guests are free to use anytime. You can order food and drinks while you lounge.
The only thing I didn't like is that it's quite a walk from the nice shore. The beachfront near the resort is quite dirty so you'd have to walk towards Kota beach which is around 5 mins away.
- r (6/5): No tv or wifi - The motel is nice ,clean and located near small market and restaurants. You can get scoot for 350. Island tour thry asked 1500 for boat ride but you can walk 2 blocks down on right and get ride for 800 from jay diamante. The room we booked was being renovated so they gave a bigger room which was nice. The breakfast at motel was good. Only bad things was no tv in room but was told they plan to put in later. Wifi is very bad, cant connect inside room have to go out to balcony.
- Ernest (8/5): Quite the view - Hot , no tv , but great Ac , and believe that's important , nice location really close the restaurants , bars , town goodies white beaches ,
- Deon (8/5): Staying in Paradise - Good Buffett breakfast , comfortable room , clean and fresh linen . beautiful view ,nice white swimmable sand beach , cold beer and close to the all the eating places in Santa Fe . Although the food served in town not up to good standards. Still a beautiful peace full town and hotel to rest and clean the head.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Restaurant staff was friendly & Marlin's have nice beach front. Although, shower in the rooms are my only complain but would definitely recommend this to friends.
- Elson (8/5): Hotel in bantayan - Overall, it was a pleasant hotel.
No TV in the room and wifi is slow a bit.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great resort - Overall it was great! I love the buffet breakfast and the kitchen/restaurant staff was amazing. The beach is pristine. This resort is a good choice when visiting sta fe.
- Don (6/5): Nothing special except LOCATION - The place wss decent and the staff was polite. Extremely dated, don't expect a tv, Wi-Fi to work in the room or even 50 percent. They did stand adv island hopping with snorkeling equipment, No fins. The resto was decent, The only and there was a big dog tied tho a post right in front of our beachfront room that barked all day. No-one seemed tho care and the dog got no attention.
The only reason tho stay here I'd the great location. On the beach, 2 minute walls tho bars, restaurants, shops.
- John (6/5): Just an overnighter in Bantayan - My stay was just for one night. It seems the island and hotel are still recovering from the devastating typhoon a couple years ago. The room was big enough however I had no hot water though I was assured at the front desk that there was. However I still did not have any the following AM. The food at dinner was very good but the breakfast buffet was minimal for the cost of the room.
- Roland (8/5): Good hotel at the beach - The rooms are very large - but with little atmosphere. Every room has a veranda or a balcony with see-view. The hotel is directly on the beach. The staff is very friendly and the cook knows how to cook.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A very good hote.,good accomodation, service is very good, staff memebers are very courteous. It's a good place to relax and unwind.
- Marlou (6/5): Courteous and friendly staff - The room (deluxe garden view) was spacious and still had a good view of the water from the balcony. However, the water pressure in the shower is very low and the water temperature cannot be regulated. The food in their restaurant is okay. Continental breakfast is included and there's a sign that it is served between 6:00-10:00am. But on our first morning, the cook was very late (came 8:30!), the kitchen was closed and we had to wait. We were given coffee while waiting but when the continental breakfast was served, we were told we have to pay for the coffee because we were given coffee already. Talk about customer service!
The beach area is nice, there are many lounging chairs and umbrellas, and the staff are courteous and friendly.
- Mike (10/5): very nice - its just picture perfect there hotel staff are great and friendly
- Verified traveler (6/5): Rooms need a facelift - Good location on the beach with new sunbeds and with walking distance to restaurants. Our beach front room didn't have fly screens fitted to the sliding window and so you get a lot of mosquitoes if you want sea breeze.
The air-con was TOO NOISY and the TV didn't work (apparently due to the last typhoon - but TV worked at a nearby Cafe). Poor internet connection in the room, shower door did not close properly, wardrobe had awful smell, fridge was too noisy and had to be switched off at night.
The food was below average in Marlins restaurant and they did not notify us about an extra charge for more coffee and bread for breakfast which should have been included in the "Room with breakfast" rate.
- ste (2/5): Disgraceful - It is nothing like the place advertised give it a wide birth...
- Shawn (8/5): Nice Hotel - Hotels.com advertises this hotel with breakfast included but when we got there, they said this is a mistake on the website, breakfast is not included but the WiFi is free. So, we were disappointed and did not expect hotels.com to make a mistake like this. Hotels.com should fix this so customers don't get frustrated over this.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Clean and the beach - Very pleasant and helpful hotel staff, affordable food prices.
