Guest Reviews

- Maria Cristina (10/5): Had a great time. Monday night was super peaceful! Thanks! - Location It’s great!

- Kelli (9/5): Amazing hotel in the heart of SJDS! - The property was clean and well maintained, offered delicious traditional Nica breakfast, and serviced the room daily. Alfredo at the front desk was attentive and offered fantastic suggestions for restaurants and everything really, and the girls who served breakfast and cleaned the room were extremely pleasant and attentive as well. The only thing I would mention is the location is central and right in the middle of the action, which is great, until it’s late night and the music is still bumping :) The property is aware of this and was in the process of installing noise proof doors, and I am not sure what else they can do, but it’s something to be aware of.
- Rafael Alonso (9/5): -
- Bros (10/5): -
- nathan (10/5): -
- Tania (8/5): - The location was close to shops and restaurants. Lots of noise on the main street at night due to loud music being played nightly.
- Danielle (9/5): We enjoyed celebrating our Anniversary at hotel Alcazar! The staff was so friendly and welcoming - We loved the rooftop view, watching the sunset
The staff was amazing! They went above and beyond!
- Ivan (6/5): -
- Paul (9/5): - Just off the beach, close to everything

- Ryan M. (8/5): A very nice property - Great location, good breakfast and coffee every morning. First two nights were without a blanket. One person I dealt with there could have been a little more friendly and welcoming.
- Stacy (8/5): - The room was large and spacious. Loved the view and sitting area. The employees were super friendly and helpful. The noise from the hostel next door. Loud music 2 out of 4 nights until 3am & and the bed was very uncomfortable (could feel springs).
- Fern (1/5): - The check-in process at this property was extremely unprofessional and concerning.
When I arrived, I spent a significant amount of time checking in and providing all of my personal details (including identification and payment-related information) to someone I was later informed was not reception staff, but the housekeeper. I was not told this at the time.
Just before I had to leave to catch a bus, I was suddenly told that the entire check-in process needed to be done again, and that payment was being requested once more. No clear explanation was given as to where my personal details had gone or why they needed to be re-submitted. The property has no security cameras, so there is no way to verify who has access to my information or what was done with it.
I would not recommend this property to anyone who values their personal information or wants a smooth, reliable check-in process.

- Kimberly (8/5): Overall, great experience with the people, location and staff and would definitely stay again! - The staff was friendly and very helpful, the breakfast was great and the location was very convenient. All the restaurant recommendations were exactly what we were looking for and we had a relaxing and fun trip all around. The noise. It was hard to sleep however we knew that it would be in an active location so we didn't expect it to be quiet nor did it ruin the experience. However I could see that it could for those not prepared for the music levels.
Nettes Personal.
- Kaity (8/5): - The hotel location was perfect and we had a beautiful view of the main beach from the balcony. Alfredo was extremely kind, helpful and patient. He gave us some great local suggestions for food which was amazing! Be careful when staying here on a Sunday. Neighbouring hostels were hosting a party which went until 4am. The earplugs that were provided didn’t cut it…
- JAIME ENRIQUE (10/5): - Detalles excepcionales!
- Ricky (9/5): -
- Olivia (9/5): Lovely, clean hotel - a gem in San Juan del Sur - Lovely, professional staff, we felt very warmly welcomed and safe
Very clean, great room
Excellent air-conditioning and lovely pool
Good location in SJDS, very close to the beach 'Sunday Funday' so loud we could hear through the earplugs until 4AM
Suggest bigger curtain to block out the light/sound
No 'hotel facilities' open- like bar at reception (doesnt matter as lots around)
Probably choose somewhere else if looking for peace and quiet- otherwise we loved it!
- Damaris (9/5): Superb - Everything, location room and, friendly staff The nightclub across the street played music too loud ..
I was aware, but I didn't expect to be that bad
- Juan (2/5): - Extremly Noisy all day and until 4am....
It has a cross street 2 bars that are open all night.
- Jan (9/5): Superb - Beautiful hotel and room. Very spacious room, nice furniture, huge balcony. Right across from the beach and super close to bars and restaurants.
We saw the warning about noise at night but got lucky. During our stay the bars right by the hotel were closed so it was fairly quiet at night. I imagine it really loud though when those bars are open and blasting music.
- William (6/5): It was a lil noisey but with my tv going through night it was actually ok. - Close to beach
- Cynthia (8/5): A fine hotel, just a little pricey for the value but it was a nice stay. - The staff are very friendly, the location is great, the room is large and the beds comfy. The pictures online were quite misleading in terms of the pool (just a small dip pool enclosed in the courtyard), and the balcony for the room I thought I had booked was misleading - obstructed view when the only photos online were unobstructed. And the furniture was quite aged and less "cute" than hoped. These weren't deal breakers, but I did specifically book that room for the vibes and was disappointed not to receive them.
- Dwight (10/5): - Great location, rooms are super nice, the staff goes above and beyond especially Nelly, I definitely recommend it
- Gloria (10/5): - The propert has breakfast that comes with it. Its very good cooked fresh. Bed are comfortable ac is cold. Bathroom is fine. I did smell like a moldy smell if they want to get rid of that smell they need to repaint, but other than that everything was great. I would stay there again.
- Floris (8/5): Fine hotel at beachfront nightlife area. - Very friendly staff and delicious breakfast! The are multiple late night bars across the street so don’t expect an early silent night.
- Wendy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joeel (10/5): Just great. - Comfortable and clean. Breakfast same everyday.
- Giselle (9/5): Superb -
- Emma (7/5): Good - Friendly staff and comfortable, clean, spacious rooms. Extremely loud music until 4am both nights which meant we couldn’t sleep at all.
- Saeid (4/5): Disappointing - The room is specious with a nice balcony. The noise from the bars around was unbearable. The breakfast was so basic and cold. Only one option.
- Ryan (6/5): - Great place, friendly staff, and very clean. Only problem is if you want to get a good night sleep FORGET about it. Club is across the street and they party till 5 am.
- Luca (9/5): Superb -
- Alexander (10/5): Beautiful, comfortable, helpful - Alfredo and Nelly were super helpful. They arranged rides to and from the airport and to all the activities we wanted. They helped find out cost, reserve trips with guides, coordinate timetables and figure out what we wanted.
The rooms were clean and super comfortable and we watched a beautiful beach sunset from our patio daily.
The included breakfast was Nicaraguan standard fair: fresh, simple, and delicious.
It was lout throughout the weekend with its proximity to nightclubs, but it wasn’t too bad. We slept great while we were there.
- John (10/5): - We really enjoyed our stay at hotel Alcazar! The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. The hotel has a great view and is close to anything you need! Sad to leave
- Joshua (8/5): - Great restaurants nearby, staff was very kind.
- Ruth (7/5): Good - The room was very nice clean with balcony with Water view . Great location There is across the street a night club with very loud music till very late on weekends
- Blair (8/5): - Travelers be warned there is a disco across the street that is open till 6 am ,, very loud .
Other than that wonderful room and top floor had great view of the beach
- Roger (10/5): Exceptional - Was near the beach just had to cross the street, the supermarket was 1 1/2 block away Alfredo the manager was super nice and very knowledgeable person
- RJ (2/5): Lost a diamond ring set. - perdí un par d Anillos - I lost a diamond ring set. I was going to proposed to my girlfriend and when I look for the rings they’re were missing. I called management to file a complaint and they told the housekeeper that cleaned the room has gone to vacation. They said they were going to ask her whenever she gets back.
No bueno.
- Bailbonds (7/5): Good -
- John (8/5): Lovely San Juan Del Sur - Staff were very kind, great size room and good A/C with nice breakfast. During Fri to Sun the area by ocean is very loud. During week it was perfect.
Even with noise on Sunday it was not horrible. I put on YouTube rain fall
- Christopher (5/5): Good for one night, but nothing special - The location was nice, right in front of the beach, the beach there is not the best for swimming. The price was fair enough for what you get. Not sure if I would stay here again. They should have had a dehumidifier in the room.
- Tiffany (4/5): Music was OK but constant issues with no power, no water, no AC, no WiFI made the stay unpleasant. - The location was great, and breakfast was tasty! I'm not very hungry in the mornings so instead of the traditional breakfast I just asked for toast and joice, which they provided. The location was walking distance to anything in town but the closest beach walking distance wasn't good for swimming. My boyfriend and I did not have a good experience here and would not recommend Hotel Alcazar. Here are the reasons:
1 - The power cut out constantly, which cut out the WiFi. We were trying to work and could not do our jobs. This also cut out the AC, so the room was unbearably hot.
2- The water kept turning off. We tried several times to shower and had either cold water or no water. Once we went down to see why we had no water, and the guy was filling up the pool. It was 6 PM. He had to stop doing that to turn our water back on. It was back off a little while later. This also meant we couldn't wash off after being at the beach and couldn't flush the toilet.
3- There was a giant cockroach in our bathroom.
4- There was no communication from front desk. We had to continually keep going downstairs to ask why we had no water, no wifi, no power, etc. We felt really stuck sitting in a hot room with no power and no water.
There were a lot of negative reviews about the music nearby. We brought a sound machine and thought the noise was not an issue at all. Ironically, we barely heard it but had this long list of other struggles no one else had mentioned. If you're trying to work like we were, don't book here as the WiFi was far from reliable.
- Jane (1/5): Booking.com stop selling rooms in this hotel - Such a shame as the view from the room was amazing but it had nothing else going for it The noise was unbearable, the vibration from the club through the next room (a night club) was unreal. It is not noise from across the street as we were lead to believe. It’s through the wall.
Breakfast is just scrabbled egg and when we asked for another cup of coffee we got had one cup to share between 2.
Mouldy sink
- Helen (10/5): - Lovely hotel, quite grand. Nice pool and big room with view out to the beach. Great location, close to everything but very noisy at night due to nightclubs nearby.
- Pablo (1/5): Tourist trap. Avoid this propierty at all cost - Website photos are distorted and do not correspond with reality Really rude and condescending staff
- Monidipa (10/5): - Great property, beautiful room and view, excellent staff and breakfast. We were nervous about noise levels as it is across bars and a hostel is right behind, but had no issues at all. Just make sure the balcony doors are closed and AC is on :)
- Margaret (7/5): Good - Yummy breakfast. Nice view. Big balcony. Earplugs provided for noise from the street. Pool was small.
- Carlos (8/5): Very good - Was ok o normal for the rate. Delicious and traditional. No many options. Noise of the bars nearby.
- Nicola (9/5): Great hotel on the beach front. - Very nice hotel on the beach front with a cute little pool. The pool gets the sun in the morning which is great to laze around and then head to the beach.
Clean and comfortable rooms. We had a room around the pool so had no issue with noise from the street or nearby bars.
Nice daily breakfast. The guy on reception was rude when we arrived and asked if we are sure we had a reservation and was not in the hostel next door due to having backpacks over a suitcase. Please don’t judge people and check your reservations before making such comments.
- Wang (9/5): Superb - Good location (dt), beautiful view. the hotel is very honest about the noisy bars. I am personally okay with the noise (I sleep well) but my friend had a hard time. If you have a good sleep, then it is a very good choice for you.
- Marta (8/5): - We loved the balcony view of the ocean, the streets, and the restaurants. Hotel Alcazar was Clean and the staff were friendly and helpful.
We did not like the pool temperature. We found it very cold.
- Louis (8/5): Very good - Super location
Very relaxed
Good air co We stayed on Sunday and this was a very bad idea.
There is a weekly party on Sunday (Sunday Funday) and the music is loud and goes till 3.
Had no sleep at all. They should mention it.
- Ivan (9/5): Amazing ocean view. - Proximity to the beach and restaurants plus the ocean view. I didn’t like that I could hear everything from the corridor.
- Gregory (9/5): Lovely stay, excellent location. - Staff were very nice, pool was lush, large room with sunset views. Sink in number 7 needs a deep clean as mould in sink
- Wendy (8/5): Very convenient for town. - Location was central. Balcony was large and the sea view was spectacular bed was very comfortable and the room was large It was very noisy at the weekend, so noisy that the windows rattled until 4am. Bit the hotel did provide earplugs.
There were no toiletries, soap, shampoo etc.
- Chris (8/5): - I recently stayed at this hotel and had a mixed experience. The noise from Club Arribas between 11 PM and 3 AM was brutal; the earplugs provided at check-in hinted at the issue. Additionally, I noticed some stained linen sheets and curtains, but despite these drawbacks, Room 7 was a beautiful choice, especially with its spacious terrace.
- Graham (10/5): Fantastic people and fantastic comfort ! - The rooms be the balcony. The staff. Everything
- Leslie (8/5): Very good - Confortable and spacious room
- Kristin (10/5): - Beautiful spot. Great views right on the beach
- Jack (10/5): - Best service ever!
- Indira (10/5): - The staff were great and very helpful! The view of the beach was beautiful!
- Eskew (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful view, great location
- Cerri (8/5): Very good -
- Karl (2/5): Find another hotel ‼️ - Location The room was not what we expected. Initially no WiFi only in common area. Noisy as hell and the breakfast was the worst ever
- Ilse (7/5): Good - Most of the staff were friendly and helpful. The exception was the hotel clerk, he was rude.
- Lilliam (2/5): Very poor - room was amazing They wanted me to pay in cash only, and I feel that they were doing it because the staff were stealing money from the owner
- Lorna (7/5): Excellent rooms, great staff, just be prepared for the noise. - The staff was friendly and the rooms were very clean and incredibly big. If you want to be close to the beach then this is an excellent location. The bed was very comfortable and the air conditioning was nice and cold. Although it did warn of noise at night we did not expect the noise to be so loud (it is literally right next to a hostal and a club that blast their music at full volume all night) or to go on so late (3:00-4:00 am). While we did not take off points for this in the overall star ratings, we did take off points in the “location” rating as this makes it a terrible location if you have kids or if you simply want a good nights sleep. They do provide ear plugs (it is that bad) but they only dampen the noise, not eliminate it).
Otherwise the only complain was that whenever we came down for breakfast in the morning, there was no one there to serve up or take our order. we waited 10 minutes each day we were there and then chose to leave and get breakfast elsewhere.
- Steve (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (6/5): Pleasant -
- Marlee (8/5): - Great location. Attentive staff. Amazing breakfast! However, reading the reviews prior regard noise was definitely helpful. It’s noisy! Earplugs are a must. But the location was very central so perfect for walking/adventuring around town.
- John (7/5): Good - very relaxing environment during the day a little less relaxing at night due to the party noises around it. but that’s San Juan!!
- Jason (10/5): - Good service
- Thomas (5/5): I thought I was getting something different than I actually got into find out that there was loud music till 4 o’clock i - The rooms were nice and clean and staff was good The room was not as advertised. The advertisement said there was a hot tub in the room that was not. It also said there was a fridge raider in the room and there was not. It also said that there was a restaurant and bar and there was not. It is right across the street from a club that plays loud music till 4 o’clock in the morning so if you were going to party all night it’s a great place if you want to sleep at night not so much
