Guest Reviews
- Ana (10/5): - Accueil top et endroit extraordinaire
On recommande vivement
- William (10/5): - It seemed to me that the rooms are very small and that they lack some amenities such as an armchair to read or something like that.
Esperamos volver.
- Ronald (10/5): - I recomendable this place to my friends
- dennis (10/5): - Without question what may this stay exceptional was the assistance and support of Andes the property manager. He could not of been more kind friendly and helpful. Also, as billed the food coming from the kitchen is excellent. The heart of palm ravioli and fresh Ahi salad were our favorites. Also a fruit Batido a day is a great thing to do.
- johanna (10/5): - The service is outstanding!!! Andres goes above and beyond to make sure you stay is perfect 😍
- LeeAnna (10/5): Clean, bright and a great find!!! - This was an absolutely lovely motel style property that reminded me of retro California! It was clean, bright, and comfortable. The pool in the center gets some great sunshine and we just loved the whole ambiance of this place. The staff was also really nice and I would definitely stay again!
- Brooke (10/5): Photos from the sunset at Coco Locos & San Miguel - This hotel was awesome. Needs to be updated a bit but you can’t beat the location! Only 1km away from Playa San Miguel which is a locals beach but don’t go until later in the day. We went early morning and had he entire beach to ourselves! At night we went to loco cocos which is also right on the beach (to ourselves as well) and ate handmade tacos and freshly caught ceviche, washed back with local craft beer while chatting with the owner and watching the sun set!! The hotel staff is as nice and as accommodating as it gets! Had a freshly squeezed margarita before bed and talked with some locals before bed. The peaceful views up in he hills while still able to hear waves crash was magical to sleep to. Also make sure to grab breakfast there! The cooks are phenomenal and some of the best coffee we had the entire trip. Super convenient place to stop over for privacy if heading to montezuma/Santa Teresa area, only about an hour away.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Little oasis at a great price. - Pablo the chef is a real treat. He is well known in the area. Some tourists had caught fish on a charter and he made them a feast with it. We had a prob with hot water and our breakfast was comped. That is great service! Loved the room. Only needs a fresh coat of paint around the pool.
- Kenzie (8/5): The unspoiled Costa Rica - Beautiful nine bedroom boutique hotel located close to one of the most beautiful beaches playa San Miguel. The pool is definitely refreshing after a day at the beach or an early morning swim. Dinner was incredible. The hotel is showing signs of wear but overall a great experience would definitely return.
- Tim (8/5): A hidden gem - The hotel is located in a very quiet area and is a perfect place to use as a base to explore the busier parts of the coast. The nearest beach is about five minutes away. The staff are extremely friendly, without being overbearing. The chef prepares excellent food - be sure to book a table as the restaurant can get a little busy. While it is a little pricey, it is well worth it. The cocktails are great too. The rooms are comfortable and clean. If you need ice for a cooler for a day at the beach, no problem.
- John (10/5): Great Hotel near the beach - It is about 3 hours from the airport, but it a great place to stay! The staff was very nice and helpful, Andres was always suggesting fun stuff for us to do. The pool is awesome and very relaxing. The room was very nice and spacious and very clean. We ate at the restaurant almost everyday and the food was great! Just awesome. Make sure you do the Butterfly Jungle Hike! It was awesome! Looking forward to our next trip to beautiful Cost Rica!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Schönes Hotel - Sehr bemühtes Team, sehr schöner sauberer einsamer Strand 5min mit dem Auto entfernt.
- Greta (10/5): Perfect getaway spot! - The room was very clean and well maintained, the food was AMAZING, the staff is so friendly and helpful. This place is a gem.
- architect (10/5): Wonderful and personalize service - We stayed at the Laguna Mar for 3 days. The staff, especially the manager Andreas and chef Paolo treated us with the utmost kindness, respect and generosity.
The hotel had a wonderful atmosphere that was warm, cozy and inviting. The rooms were modern, clean and well-equipped.
The restaurant was superb and the service personalized. Every meal was delicious. Great value for the amazing food quality .
The swimming pool was well-located and all the services within easy access.
Would very highly recommend Laguna Mar. We stayed at 5 hotels during our stay in Costa Rica and this clearly stood out as the best.
- Graham (10/5): Incredible hotel - Great hotel. Andres (manager) and Paolo (chef) were a huge help giving us ideas for activities; kayak surf and snorkeling. Good beach nearby and exceptional food at the hotel. Highly recommend this place. It was my favorite hotel in CR.
Placas no caminho indicam a direção do hotel.
- Fatima (8/5): good place - Coyote Beach is about a 5 min drive and beautiful. not touristy at all, clean beautiful, private beach.
hotel is very good for the money and food was very tasty and of good quality. Service was very attentive and friendly, would definitely go back. not much else around aside from the quiet beach, but they can arrange surfing, yoga, excursions, etc. roosters do wake you up around 6am so bring ear plugs
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excelentes Vacaciones - Muy bonito hotel
- Ric (10/5): Perfect hotel and nice view - The ride is beautiful and the acommodations are excelent
- Ado (8/5): Best hotel in Coyote Beach - The hotel is located in a very isolated beach, but the hotel gives you excellent facilities for you to spend a good vacation. The hotel staff is very friendly and makes you feel like home. FOOD IS EXCELLENT!!!
- Oscar Plascencia (10/5): Excellent place and service - wish I had more days to stay in this excellent hotel.
people who looked after us they are the best and very friendly, cleanliness, room, food, facilities and incredible calm in this place are perfect; definitely return! . The only thing improved is the way to reach the hotel by car, advisable to put more big announcements.
To reach the hotel must have patience on that dirt road, but worth every minute invested, when arriving at the hotel will know.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excelente serviço! - Serviço ao nivel de um 5*! Refeições com muita qualidade!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Gorgeous but way out of the way - The drive in...26 miles of rough dirt road!! Arrival at the hotel...a beautiful property in the middle of no where. Customer service was fantastic, unbeatable!! The pool was wonderful and relaxing. The restaurant and bar was very nice. Playa San Miguel was absolutely gorgeous. Never ate anywhere else but at the hotel. Tried to eat at the Pizza Tree but they were not open. The only issue we had was the suite on the top floor (room 9) does not stay cool. It's surrounded with windows and they have shades but it remained warm even though we ran the air continuously. Xiomara, Andres, John-Luc and Cici were all such wonderful people and their hospitality did not go unrecognized!!
- Nadia (10/5): A real gem! - We arrived at Hotel Laguna Mar intending to stay only one night but quickly decided to extend our stay to four nights. We loved everything about this place; staff was kind and attentive (always smiling and cheerful), the accommodations were modern, clean and comfortable, the restaurant was terrific and the owners genuinely interested in making your stay memorable. Truly, the warmth extended to us by the staff made for an unforgettable experience. The Hotel also assisted in organizing a day trip for us to go snorkelling and spend some time on Tortuga Island which was well worth the (very reasonable) price. Nearby Playa San Miguel is absolutely perfect - clean, private and long. We enjoyed our time at the beach and the proximity to the hotel. Everything about our last four days in Costa Rica and staying at Hotel Laguna Mar was perfect - thank you!
- Bill (10/5): Great beach great food - Great food for dinners and the beach is wonderful. The area is very remote. A 4x4 is essential! We crossed 1 river about 2 feet deep and 2 about 1 foot deep. Getting from San Jose to the hotel and back we traveled 100kilometers or more on dirt roads. The staff (CiCi) were above par for anyplace we have stayed.
- Cristofer (10/5): Best accommodations near deserted beaches - We ventured out to this hotel to completely disconnect and relax as a couple. The hotel is small, affordable, and strikes a balance between cozy and modern.
- Caroline (10/5): This is a great hotel - Laguna Mar´s main assets are its owners, Jean Luc and Cecile. I felt like it was staying as guests at their house. They do everything possible to make their guests comfortable and welcome. They will even drive you places, if necessary. That happened to one of the guests who did not rent a car. I don´t think that many hotel owners are willing to do that.
The hotel is located in a very remote area so a car is necessary. In fact, a 4x4 is necessary since you have to travel on a dirt road to get there. I like the fact that it is so remote and not crowded. The beach is located about 15 minutes walking or a 5-minute car ride. The ocean is warm, the sand smooth and the view simply breathtaking. There are also many other beaches that you can visit that are driving distance from the hotel.
The hotel rooms are a bit small, but comfortable. They do, however, require more storage space for unpacking. The bathroom is very large and could definitely be reduced in order to enlarge the room. That is one suggestion. But, overall, the rooms are very modern and have a European flair.
The food is great. Pablo, the chef, trained in Denmark and Italy. His food is amazing. The only drawback is that the menu never changes. I suggest adding a daily special to add more variety. There is also a nearby restaurant called Restaurante Loma Clara which has great food. I loved that the hotel is very open to families and children. This is something that I found was not the case in nearby hotels.
- Robert (10/5): Get away from it all... - Great place to hide away for a time. Friendly, helpful staff, great food. Recc the penthouse, third floor, no neighbors, private patio overlooking the pool and Jacuzzi. Yes! Chef Pablo was trained in Denmark, the staff speaks English, you can't go wrong. The new owner, Jean-Luc, is quite friendly and helpful, as is the entire staff, who make you feel totally at home. The nearby beaches are pretty much empty for kilometers, and this is Christmas time, high season. There are activities, such as kayaking, tropical forest walks, horseback riding, etc. but we elected just to chill and hang out on the solitary beaches and run with our dog. Beats hanging out in the big city, stressed to the max. We'll be back!
- ken (10/5): enjoyment - I enjoyed my trip here. had the hole hotel to myself. and had all my needs met.
