Guest Reviews
- Judith (6/5): - Breakfast was good. Basement smell. Would have been ok we we didn’t get a room in basement.
- Elmer (10/5): Very good stay - We stayed at the Hvitsekur Hotel just overnight. Stuff was so nice, helpful and friendly. I will recomend this hotel for Round Trip in Iceland.
- Aaron J (8/5): - Super friendly staff and helpful. Simple rooms, but very comfortable bed!
- Reta (8/5): - In the middle of no where…. Our first night in Iceland so that was a surprise.
- David (6/5): - A fine spot to stay for a night while passing through.
- Colleen (8/5): - It was good for one night
- Deb (2/5): - We would not stay here again! You should find another place to stay. We booked a queen bed with a private bathroom and an ocean view. We got there and the check-in is very slow, the building is very dated, there is a very musty smell and we were given two twin beds with a private bathroom in a basement with a 15 inch window that looked at the grass. They switched us to twin beds with a shared bathroom. This was much nicer, but not what we had booked. The breakfast was very sparse. The drive out to this hotel was really inconvenient. We would find a different place to stay. This place reminded us of a building from a horror movie.
- Daniel (6/5): - With 13 rooms. Only 2 Wc/Shower. One was very small, old, didn't even have proper hooks to hang clothes. Shower didn't drain properly. You were always in 3 " of water from start to finish.
- Margaret (6/5): - The hotel and rooms are very basic but it was still quite pricey although there were hardly any other guests. It seems as though the owners are still only part way through renovating it.
The location is beautiful & very peaceful.
Breakfast was minimal but we had a good dinner the night before about 30 minutes away in Hvammstangi at Sjavarborg restaurant.
- Gavin (10/5): - Very nice stay here, staff were super nice. We didnt have the evening meal, but they did offer several options. Breakfast was basic, however staff had other options to add upon request, (scramble some eggs etc)without extra cost as well which was nice!
- Beveridge (10/5): - Lovely place. Incredibly quiet and isolated (in a good way). Great building - interesting history with original features. Very comfortable and friendly stay. Many thanks.
- Pushkar (10/5): - Enjoyed the stay.. Will plan to come back next time
- Caitlin (10/5): - We had a wonderful stay. It was very quiet and close to the sites we wanted to see. Good dinner menu with a nice range of options - the lasagne was delicious!
- Erika (10/5): - Great stop if you’re driving the ring road and don’t want to do Reykjavik to Akureyri in 1 day! We were the first to arrive for the night so we were a little worried because it didn’t look open from the road but once inside, it’s clean, cozy and the views are great—Open/dark skies for northern lights viewing close to a beautiful black sand beach! Would definitely stay again!
A recommander.
- Candace (10/5): Perfect Place - The check in was a breeze. Happy Hour was great. The dinner selection was good and tasty food!! The morning breakfast buffet was a delight as well!! Very friendly staff!
- Kayla (6/5): - The property was fine to stay for one night but the shower and room were very basic, even for Icelandic standards. It felt and looked like staying in a dormitory.
My biggest complaint was the lack of, essentially no communication when I had sent several messages to the websites and tried calling prior to our arrival and there was no response for days. However the problem did get resolved when arriving a day earlier but it would’ve been nice to have better communication.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Hotel is in suburb area, nothing around or near by . stayed one night because of no other choices. Room is clean but tiny, share bathroom clean but not convenient. Be careful with this hotel , I reserved the room 1 night (May 24) with a credit card choosing pay at the hotel. When I checked in, I used a different credit card to pay for the room. When I returned home, they double charged me on 2 different credit cards. The double charge even on the day I already left Iceland
(May 28) . This hotel scams people by double charges and if you don’t pay atttetion you will end up paying them twice.
- Nicholas (10/5): - struttura immersa nella natura. Edificio vecchio ma ben tenuto e funzionale. Colazione ottima. Check-in e Check-out molto semplici. personale delizioso.
- YOUNGKYU (10/5): - Clean, warm, and quiet with very friendly and helpful staff. Great breakfast selection with fresh made waffle batter and freshly baked bread. Also is located right next to a horse farm! Would definitely recommend to anyone traveling in the area
- margreta de (10/5): - Simple, comfortable, clean and quiet rooms in a beautiful and remote location (unpaved road). The breakfast was superb and the host was unusually helpful.
- VANAUDENAERDE (10/5): - Very nice staff and food.
Facilities may be up for some upgrading, but this is compensated largely by the quietness and the hospitality.
The waffles at breakfast are very nice.
On top of this comes a ride with a fantastic horse in avnice scenary. Waaw!
- Mark A (8/5): Challenging drive - great place to stay - It was a solid place to stay. The reason minus one star - the drive to get there is not for all drivers, as it is an unpaved road. We did it in the rain, and our car was nearly covered in road dirt from head to toe from all the potholes we drove - around 16km from Hwy 1, if you take the shorter route, on 717 - if you take 711, it is a much longer route.
The hosts and the guesthouse were great. We would love for all to be as they were. A testament to why people love to visit Iceland - the people here are very gracious and do all they can to be helpful.
- Aaron (6/5): - It’s a relatively long drive on gravel roads to get here. For positives, they have the friendliest staff ever who provided great recommendations for things to do in the area and their breakfast was great. The room was also quite big! On the downside, the shower water was freezing, and the curtains didn’t fully cover windows, and the beds were quite uncomfortable.
- STEVE (10/5): Peaceful - Stunningly beautiful. Loved walking nearby. Service excellent, friendly and loved breakfast. Very peaceful
- AnitaMarie (8/5): - Very quite area, horses nearby, dinner option was good. Simple and clean accomodations.
- Joelle (10/5): - Just a few minutes away from the hvitserkur, perfect to see it first thing in the morning.
The breakfast was really good, try the waffles!
The staff was sweet and accomodating (we arrive in the middle of the night due to a snow storm, they left the key for us at the reception)
Bonus point for the cute islandic blanket over the bed, keeping us really warm, even with the snow storm outside ^-^
- YU SANG DICKSON (10/5): - Quiet
- Joelle (10/5): - Really close to the Hvitserkur, you can wake up, take a coffee and a waffle and go visit.
The staff was super nice and welcoming!
Genial
- Hans Kristen (6/5): - Overnattingsstedet ligger litt utenfor de vanlige transportaksene. Minner litt om et internat/leirskole. Veldig hyggelig betjening. Spennende omgivelser.
- Laura (6/5): - Some of the descriptions were a little misleading. There is NO restaurant on site except for breakfast. And when they say there are other restaurants in town they mean 20 to 30 kilometers away. If we'd known that we could have planned better and would have given a higher rating.
- Leonardo (8/5): - It's a good place to be isolated. Maybe in winter will be ideal to see the northern lights.
The road to get there is not paved, so it takes longer than the calculated route. Showers and toilets are shared. Includes complimentary breakfast
- Stefania (10/5): - Colazione buona personale gentile, molto spartano ma pulito.
- Shelley (10/5): - Check in was effortless and staff was very friendly.
- Elizabeth Ross (8/5): - The property was clean and very reasonable. The proprietors provided a lovely breakfast and clean sheets and towels.
Spartanisch eingerichtet. Kein Service. Es gab keine Getränke oder Snacks,
- Oliver (8/5): - Beautiful property just no options for dining
- Michael (8/5): - Great hosts!! Early check in.
- Peter (8/5): - Quiet.
