• lauracV3619ZT (6/5): Think twice unless you get your upgraded rooms and if you like crowded beaches… - First of all our room was not the one that was upgraded that’s for sure , the bathroom was full of mold in the shower and outdated ! You can hear all the noise through the door that you can see the light coming in around the door and window. They charged us 5 euro for a beach towel and for the lounge chairs and umbrella was 50 euro for the day and the lady from the hotel never reserved our chairs on the beach . The beach was full of people not like it shows on their site .the restaurants not good at all at least what I chose , the rice with scampi, the scampi was literally raw so I didn’t eat it and the past was raw with the monk fish that was not cleaned properly! The only good thing I had was the rice balls . I would really not go there ever again …
• Martin (2/5): - To be honest, I am one to not complain about hotels. I usually ride out the stay and move on; however, in this case I just had to write this review as awareness to travelers. To be fair, the property was clean...they are always cleaning, and their air conditioning works very well. Those are the only two good comments I have. The food is very bad and overpriced. The menu is very limited and you have to make a reservation for dinner if you wish to dine on-site. They make you go through the hassle of reserving even though 2 to 5 of the 20 tables are occupied during the evening. The staff is very rude, specially if you are a tourist. They will get upset at you and start yelling for any question you ask, almost as if you are supposed to know the answer. Getting beach towels, for example, became a monumental task of 30 minutes because the reception would tell us to go to the bar to get them, and the bar would say go to the reception. They had us going back and forth trying to get towels. All while yelling at us for asking. In the end the hotel manager and staff ended up arguing over who was supposed to handle the issuance of towels. In summary, they do not know what they are doing...do not stay here. Do not give them your money. I will flat out say that this is the worst property where I have stayed.

• bakuns (10/5): Best part of our trip to Italy!!! - I had stayed at Oldwell hotel a few years back with my daughter. My daughter was so impressed she is planning on spending her Honeymoon there next year. She loved it so much that I brought my sister back. She said was best part of the trip. We plan to go back. We will request Suite Mare. Rooms, views, staff were amazing! Thank You for giving my Sister a memorable experience.

• rudilulu (10/5): Very friendly people who couldn't do enough for us in order to ensure that our visit was a memorable one. Simon is a great guy - This place is Paradise personified. It's known locally as the hidden gem, having experienced it first hand, I must whole heartedly agree. The beach, the views, the colour of the sea and the soft texture of the sand are what you would only expect to find in the Caribbean. Simone, couldn't have done any more to ensure that our visit was extremely memorable. Although our visit was only short, it is one that will remain in the forefront of our minds and we look forward to our return.

The Restaurant, placed on the terrace just above the beautiful beach gives you a sense of being on the water...and the sunset is just spectacular. Excellet Dining experience !! Jenny, owner and host, is just sensational in making sure your ever comfort is met !!
• MarcoGalperin (4/5): Problem with integrity - First, the hotel. It is in a beautiful position on the beach. The place is very attractive. Rooms are simple but in the main comfortable, apart from the bed in one of the rooms which was not. The beach is nice- although personally I think the public end is better in terms of the sand and angle into the sea. The food is adequate but nothing special, and much more expensive than the exquisite and much cheaper fayre in Tropea. Breakfast was mediocre and limited. The staff were charming and helpful. I would, on the basis of the above, have given four stars. My decision to give two is based on the customer service I received, I needed to leave early due to my mother’s mobility issues. This was not the hotel’s fault. I wad told, on the basis of alleged contact with management, that I would be refunded 30 % of the total bill. If left after one night of the total five nights paid for. The booking was non- refundable, so I was very appreciative of this. On the basis of this commitment, I booked another hotel. When I went to pay the bill on early check out, I noticed that it was 100 % of the total, not the 70% promised. I was told that the earlier commitment had been due to a “mistake”. I would have respected a decision from the start to keep all of the money, as this was within the proprietor’s rights in line with the nin/ refundable booking policy. It also would have allowed me to make an informed decision of whether to leave early and lose all of the money. My irritation is with the practice of committing to take 70% and then talking 100 % with no notice. The extra revenue raised from me is in my view lost to the cost of the hotel’s integrity. It’s a shame- I would have recommended and / or gone back. .

• 560joannaa (10/5): Amazing place! - This small hotel is just amazing. We had room nr 10 with sea view and tarace. the Pictures do not show how beautiful this place is. The beach is beautiful. You can reach Tropea by car in 5 minutes. Kate in reception was very helpful and very friendly. Beds could be more comfortable. But I give you 10/10 anyway:) Thanks
• perfectbeach1 (10/5): Wonderful stay - This hotel is not modern but it is comfortable and I loved it that it was one of those resorts without personality. We had the best room in the hotel, we had a deck looking over the sea. The staff was fantastic. I loved it.

• Verified traveler (2/5): ***STAY AWAY*** - We arrived at the OldWell hotel, checked in and after 30 minutes checked out. The grounds and beach are very nice. But the condition of the rooms are atrocious. The hotel rooms seem to be original, no upgrades have been done since the hotel was built. We got in the room and there were flies buzzing around everywhere. Probably because under the doors and windows were gapping wholes. There was no safe in the room, which worried me since the thin wooden doors and windows could easily be broken with minimal effort and I didn't know what to do with our passports. The bed felt like it was 20 years old and super worn. Needless to say, after 30 minutes and an emotional breakdown due to the condition of the room, we found another place and checked out.

• Verified traveler (8/5): Magnificent location on a beautiful beach - We stayed a week very noticeably off season (end September, beginning of October) . The restaurant closed and was turned into a children’s play-area. It was obvious the staff was readying for winter, putting up sunbeds and parasols (with good reason, as there were days when the waves would have carried them off), washing kitchen equipment with a high-pressure washer etc. The staff were at all times pleasant and efficient, especially the cleaning-staff, but we couldn’t avoid the feeling that we had overstayed, and were outnumbered by staff and the family of the owners. A selfish notion perhaps, but then one should be allowed selfish notions when on vacation.

• Verified traveler (8/5): Familiäres Hotel direkt am Strand. - Der Abflug von Salzburg wurde leider von 16:30 auf 18:40 verschoben, so das wir erst in der Dunkelheit in Lamezia Terme ankamen. Der Mietwagen war schnell ausgefolgt doch in der Nacht in einem fremden Land ein Hotel suchen ist trotz Navi nicht ganz einfach. Beim Hotel( durch die Mithilfe vom Hotelmanager) angekommen wurden wir herzlich und freundlich begrüßt. Am nächsten Tag besichtigten wir gleich das wunderbare Städtchen Tropea und buchten uns einen Ausflug mit dem Schiff zur Insel Panarea und zum Vulkan Stromboli. Dies war sicher einer der Höhepunkte in dieser Woche. Es gibt viel zu besichtigen wie das Städtchen Pizzo oder Capo Vaticano. Ein Mietwagen ist natürlich fast ein Muss, damit man die Umgebung und vor allem die Bergdörfer erkunden kann. Wir waren das erste und wahrscheinlich nicht das letzte mal in dieser traumhaften Gegend. Es war für uns ein wunderschöner Urlaub.

• Merrilee (10/5): Old Well! Don''t miss it! - We loved Old Well. It was just my 12 year old son and I and we loved the convenience of having our room right on the shore. We could enjoy a lovely breakfast buffet every morning watching the waves crashing in. Wifi worked great, even when we sat down by the water. The rooms were decorated uniquely, but were comfortable and clean. The owner was the best, easy to talk to and very accomodating when we decided we wanted to come back a few days later and just stay at one place the reminder of our time. We spent a total 4 nights there will definately return there.
• john (8/5): Unbelievable location... Challenging to find :-) - We drove around for an hour after leaving Tropea. Hard to find but oh so worth it! You must stay here if you love the beach and amazing locations. Breathtaking views... Wonderful staff!!!
• Rob (4/5): Excellent location for a beach holiday - Room was small with adequate facilities. However, lack of insect screens was an issue with mosquitoes a threat. Room was a bit like a cave and situated well back from the beach. We didn't like the look of it and found another hotel in the middle of Tropea that proved to be satisfactory and very well located. Unfortunately we had to pay a night's accommodation but we knew that beforehand.
