- Hinerake (8/5): - The owner was very friendly, showed us grapevines they had grown outside the room and invited us to take some grapes with us when we left (very tasty). There was a lot of road noise until after dark as we were just off a main road, but the property was nice and well appointed. I booked online and apparently the room with 2 beds did not translate well but they immediately made up an extra bed for me, no trouble. Did not try the pool but it was open
- Kees (4/5): - The place was not clean; the carpets had stains, tge eindows finger marks, the tea toweol has stains and hair, the cabinets dusty. The curtains had spots allowing the light to come through. We understand that a place can be dated, but no excuse for it not being clean

Toilet very small due to the slidingdoor, that can't be propperly closed, slotting in between the toilet and the wall. Old building anything plastic is dried out and completely turned yellow and moldy.

- Verified traveler (4/5): - I was uncomfortable staying there due to the dirty and unclean conditions, dust everywhere which wasn't good for my hubby with his asthma, marks everywhere in the rooms, carpet felt filthy so kept shoes on all the time. Property could use a good clean and updated in areas too. Plus bedding had hairs all over it, the only good thing was the beds were comfortable to sleep on, however i slept on top of the sheets and had my own pillow and blanket to use.

The property appears to be due for a refurbishment, marks on the wall, chip in the glass door, hard to shut doors and decor show the properties age. Overall for the price I was very happy, we were comfortable, the room was cosy, the bed comfy and warm and the shower hot with good pressure. Good services of the room. Would stay again for the price.

- Kay (2/5): Disappointed in motel but location great. - Booked unit 10 studio $130 a night and ended up in Unit 11 paying same price for dirty dusty room no bigger than a basic hotel room with no comfortable place to sit. Bedcover full of dust and too big for bed, the toilet seat wobbled when you sat on it in the bathroom you could not move in and the room smelt of cooking, a coffee cup in drawer not washed properly and the noise of traffic. Having been in hospitality ourselves was absolutely disappointed and wouldn't think to put guests in a room like this for two nights and to guests who come here every year. Budget room no more than $80 a night once cleaned and tidied is what the cost should be. Payment requested before I got to see room and when I went to office to say something twice it was locked. I have emailed my concern but no response. We could not go elsewhere as everything booked out. Our friends who got moved from this motel got the better deal

There were hairs on dining table and in vanity drawer. There were no drapes on the 'back door' and as we were at the end by the road (which we didn't realise), it was very noisy all night. Had there been a drape on the door, things would have been slightly quieter. The double sofa was very uncomfortable. It was clean apart from the hairs and the smell of curry.

- Lynette (4/5): When your booking isn't a booking. - So booked several weeks in advance for a family gathering to celebrate an 80th. There were 3 separate bookings from my family for this motel. Yes we all wanted to be together at the same place for ease of communication activities socializing and transportation. Arriving off a flight from Auckland on Friday evening and just getting into rental car when I return the missed call on my phone. Ahhhhhh the people in your room want to extend and we have no where else for you so we have booked you into another motel down the road. Address ?? Oh its through the lights and just on your left ?? Address would have been useful. Well we were really disappointed. Had no one else from the family been there it would not have mattered. But it did matter...but these things happen...so just suck it up ..but a question ...seriously....how come the first attempt to get hold of me to tell me this was 5pm on Friday night. Did you not know before then ? It just leaves me thinking actually it didn't matter to you....but it did matter to us.

- Sylvia (2/5): Nasty evil manager and staff. - We arrived at our motel only to be told our booking had been sold on. Unbeknown to us we were a day late in our 6 day stay at this motel. We received no phone call or email asking what or why we were running late. They stated they had phoned us. But that was untrue. When asked about our other 5 days we were told “ no show... no refund” We were astounded to be treated this way. This manager and his staff became abusive and threatening. We asked him to back off or we will call the police, which made him worse. It was extremely frightening. We left..... called Wotif who sorted out our refund for the remaining 5days. We went down the street and stayed in a lovely motel for the 5 days we stayed in Nelson. It’s sad to think some people could’ve walk away with no refund after this bullying behaviour. Double dipping on motel units is not fair. Thanks for your support Wotif.
- Essi (6/5): 'Does the job' for a few nights - We were staying in Richmond for a few days, and needed a place to stay. There were not many options available, so chose this motel, which did the job. However, the room was dated and smelled like cigarette smoke, even though it was supposedly a non-smoking room. The motel is very close to the main highway through Richmond, so there it a lot of traffic noise (we knew this was the case before arriving, so brought ear plugs). The rooms seemed reasonably sound proof, as we couldn't hear anything from neighboring rooms. And the internet was excellent, which unfortunately seems to be an exception in New Zealand.

We stayed in very hot conditions so air conditioning would have been wonderful but they gave us a fan to help with our comfort. Nothing was too hard for them and gave us some good tips on where to go and what to do. We used the pick up service from the airport and they were there and waiting. Easier to stay in Richmond than Nelson. Would stay again.

Unfortunately they didn't supply extra pillows or blankets and it was a cold night. Second time we have stayed and good for a quick stop with breakfast included if you are on a budget. Noisy in the morning because on the corner of two busy roads.

- Mrs Smith (4/5): Bathroom in desperate need of refurbishing - While it was fine, it looks a little grotty and in need of refurbishment. Hangers where covered in dust that I had to clean before hanging up my clothes. Bin in kitchen emptied everyday but not the bathroom bin which had much more rubbish in it. Continntal breakfast delivered the afternoon before, so not appealing.

- Verified traveler (2/5): Don't let photos fool you - Don't let the photos fool you, this place is so tired and old. It is in desperate need of a cheap tidy up. Even the cutlery was mismatched. It was however very close to shops. The swimming pool was oddly green too.

- Helen (4/5): Last minute - We needed a hotel last minute as made a late decision to visit Upper Moutere for family reasons. The Oxford offered a good price in conjunction with flights. It was in a location that was easy to get to and on the way to our family function. We couldn't complain for the price. It was clean and roomy. Very basic with no extras such as toiletries or tissues or pleasantries. The room was very tired and dated. Only two lumpy pillows, no extras, no iron or hair dryer in the room. It did have general cooking and coffee/tea making facilities. Generally in need of a good upgrade, but it was clean and the staff very pleasant. We weren't spending a lot of time there and so it met our needs.
- Alan (4/5): Alan - our unit for 3 days was right on a busy highway going very noisy. Our robe had no hanging rod or coat hangers, no bedside tables . No cleaning in the 3 days.

- Maxine (10/5): Convenient to airport and shops - Lovely after long journey to be met by courtesy car and driven directly to own unit. Breakfast was great and staff were lovely.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Noisy & outdated - Unit was about 12m from main road, was very noisy during the evening and trucks started driving past at 4am. Unit was tidy enough and had everything you would expect, but was very dated and well used.
- Verified traveler (6/5): cheap accommodation - Unfortunately, very dated, and cramped. toilet seat lid wouldn't stay up and toilet squashed right under cistern. had recently stayed at much cheaper lodge accommodation which was FAR more spacious, bigger bed, and bathroom facillities and updated at a lot less cost, so this might have coloured our view. Unfortunate also that a service station had been built on the corner opposite the motel, which is a 24 hr station and lights on all night, plus traffic lights right outside as well.

- Verified traveler (4/5): Handy to Richmond Mall and Sporting Facilities - Room was not clean, skirting boards had not been cleaned for sometime. Kitchen cupboards had remnants of previous occupants food. The dust pan used to previous sweep up, still had these remnants in it in the bottom kitchen drawer. Tea towels provided were stained and threadbare. Fridge froze food overnight and when dial was altered it defrosted. Motel only has 1 washing machine for 12 units, not nearly enough when sporting teams are also staying there.

- Usha (6/5): Nice motel, 3 stars - A great hotel, would stay there again. Very close to amenities, very helpful and friendly staff, and I also brought pets so very nice of them to accomodate me. Cosy little rooms with sky tv and wifi. Very comfy bed and pillows. Only thing that let them down was a few cleanliness details, was a beer bottle cap left on the nightstand, the walls were a little dirty and few cobwebs on the ceiling.. And I found it very odd that there was no hand towel and rack in the bathroom. Other than that, a great place to stay!

- Allison (10/5): Easy to Find - Very easy to find on the main road and within walking distance to the shops. Very clean and spacious unit.

- Greg (4/5): Handy location with a few issues - No complaints with the staff, but the unit we were given was tiny, and appeared to have been a bigger unit chopped in two. This exacerbated the car parking problem, which necessitated backing in or out quite some distance in a narrow channel. Was tricky in the dark, especially if you were the last car in and belonged to one of the last two units. It was shabby inside the unit, badly in need of some paint (things had been ripped off the walls leaving unpainted areas), and some updating. There was a minute basin in the bathroom with a wiggly tap and one tiny mirror. There was nowhere to hang any towels or put toilet gear. Some areas on the walls needed to be cleaned better, also. Because this unit was close to the main road it was quite noisy, but hard to do much about that, as windows had to be open due to warm weather.

- Tom (10/5): Great location for surrounding activities. - This motel was fantastic in terms of location for surrounding activities like going to the beach or dropping into Nelson every now and then. Close to Richmond mall and many fast food restaurants and shops. It is close to a main road and somewhat busy intersection, but the only thing I would complain about is someone doing skids at 6 in the morning on the road, but the motel cannot help that!

- Amy (10/5): Clean and comfortable - We just booked one night stay as we were flying in and out of Nelson within 24 hours. I'm really impressed with how clean the room was, This is my second time booking at this motel (when I fly down from Auckland) and both times the rooms have been really clean and comfortable. The staff are friendly and helpful. The Decor is a little dated but i don't book motels for the room decor. And it's a really great price too.
