- Ousmahila (2/5): - The bed sheets were stained. The room have not light. There were no heat nor water heater while the temperature was 52 degré F. The front desk could not find our reservation. She wanted us to call Expedia a 2am while we were exhausted, our flight was delayed for 4 hours. They finally let us in but we could not stand the room. We try another but they were all the same.
- beteliehm (6/5): - i like everything, nothing unique but i was really disappointed because I ask to drop me at the airport early to check in because we had transit to another airport but the driver was late and i missed my flight and wait for another 2 hours in the airport with my 2 little kids, my kids were so hungry because we already in the waiting area there is no food around there and also we had a hard time finding the hotel shuttle after 20 hours of flight, it took us about 15 minutes, no sign that show us the property of the hotel is waiting for us, finally, I ask his ID and got our hotel to get rest

- Verified traveler (10/5): - The property is in a safe quiet location. It has an excellent fitness facility and nice areas to sit inside or outside when guests visit. There is a gorgeous view of the city from the top floor. The staff is very friendly and the manager is exceptional. He went way out of his way to take care of any issue immediately and to accommodate every request. The owner is also very friendly and made a special effort to make me feel welcome. The massage service is also very nice. This hotel is across the street from a private international hospital which is nice (just in case of emergency) and within walking distance to a COVID testing center. It’s also a very short drive to the airport and only took minutes to get there. I very much enjoyed my stay here and will definitely come again.
- LaShawnda (10/5): - Tizeze Hotel is conveniently close to the Addis Ababa Airport. The hotel is modest and well-priced and the staff are extremely helpful and accommodating. Honestly, I received the best consideration and service from Bobby (guide/translator/host/new friend) and Kefyalew (driver/escort) than from any other location I traveled to. They saved my trip. During most of my time in Ethiopia (7 days), I was sick. I spent my first and last days in Addis Ababba. On the first day, I asked the front desk for a taxi to take me to a market in the late afternoon. They responded by sending for Bobby and arranging for him to take me around town and help me communicate in the shops. Upon my return to Addis Ababa, Bobby again joined me on a customized tour of the city. Kefyalew drove both days. He was very invested in sharing Ethiopian culture and experiences with me. He contributed to the itinerary and the timing. I highly recommend this dynamic duo to any travelers who want to guarantee they enjoy their time in Addis Ababa.

However, I spent a great deal of time explaining that I had actually paid already via Hotels.com (and that this was not Expedia!). Eventually, we had that sorted. There was a plug in heater in the room that was appreciated. A hairdryer was available from reception. I really appreciated the shuttle to/from the airport (but make sure that you advise that your times of arrival/departure are "international time", as Ethiopia has their own localised view on time reference (international time + 6). Great selection of local beers in hotel bar and the barman was very helpful in guiding choice!

Even the manager participated in welcoming guests and ensuring our comfort.The room was great and the bed very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent with several meal and fresh fruit choices. - Hector (8/5): Great Place to Stay for the Price - For the most part, this hotel was great, staff was polite, room and toilet was clean, bed was comfortable, spacious bedroom room with living room separate. The free wifi did work. There was only a small smell of humidity in the room, like the room needed to be aired out (ventilated). Small things were not available, like hotel custom flip flops (but we received flip flops) and toiletries, like complimentary tea or coffee. When we left the hotel, we got stuck in the elevated for like 5 to 10 minutes, which was a scary feeling, but afterwards it started to descend to the ground floor. However, overall experience I rate the Tizeze Hotel as a 4.5, because there is always room for improvement.

Bathroom window curtain, rod and all, fell right off the second it was touched to be closed for privacy. Shower had no water pressure, and took close to ten minutes to get to warm. Never hot. Internet went down early on the first morning and never worked again for the remaining two days.

The staff was incredible, the food was really good, it is a great price, and everything was really clean and comfortable. I was sad to leave. It is a bit of a walk to get downtown, which I didn't love at first, but quickly realized that it is a strong benefit of this hotel to be away fro, the noise, crowds and pollution. Fantastic stay.

- Richard (Dick) (10/5): Outstanding staff - From the time I was picked up at the airport, through meal service, business center assistance, and personal attention I found the entire staff to be professional and sincerely willing to help -- with a smile! One of my traveling companions became ill and the staff personally brought a nurse and assistant directly to the hotel and then accompanied us down the block to the medical clinic where we received excellent medical care. This was my third stay at the Tizeze and I have found the food to be excellent in every way -- the breakfast buffet is particularly pleasing. The service and accomodations match up well with any other hotels I have stayed in. I found the close proximity to the Bole airport to be a convenience as well.

What makes this hotel pleasant is the willingness of hotel staff to serve you the way you want. The ride and neighborhood threw us for a loop, but once inside of the gates to the hotel we were happy to get to our rooms. Tizeze's restaurant was very good and the staff is fantastic. Shacks beneath our room and dogs and cockerels kept us awake 2 room was very shabby with a pair of what looked like grandads old slippers laid out for us, as well as a broken bedside lamp 3 despite us telling reception that we needed to leave at 6.30am which was when breakfast was supposed to start, there was nothing. No coffee and even no driver. He had to be found. 4 poor dollar rate given when we changed money

That's what I like about smaller hotels, you are a person, not just a "number. The on premises SPA offers great massages at a modest cost, a sauna, steam room are an added plus.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Convenient hotel for transit in Addis - Had an overnight stay in Addis and wanted something nice but close to the hotel. The hotel is ~5-10 minutes from the airport. The staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel and rooms are spartan but clean, with functioning internet, TV, bathroom, etc. The restaurant is able to make a nice plate with njera, shiro, etc. One suggestion for travelers is to note that Ethiopian will give a voucher for overnight stays and meals. After reserving (and paying!) through Expedia that voucher is of no use. Please consider booking directly with the hotel if on an overnight transfer with Ethiopian.
- Conrad (8/5): Happy Addis Ababa - Had a busy time with conference activities but my accommodation and service were great. Care and attention of staff was much appreciated especially as I had early starts to each day. I was given tour of facilities, including gym and sauna facilities which were of excellent standard. Location is quiet area but need to arrange transport into town if you wish to go shopping or meet others in more central hotels. Close to airport than other hotels. Met hotel owner and managers who were very courteous and professional. Great place to stay if you wish to stay away from noisy areas but have great accommodation and service.

- AYOTUNDE (4/5): AN UNPLEASANT STAY AT TIZEZE - I paid for 3 nights, I spent ONE night, because I could not stay there any longer. Service was poor. Rooms were not properly made. Rug on floor was disgusting. Holes in the bed linen everywhere. It was not a nice experience. No transport or easy accessibility to anywhere. Neighbourhood is very bad, with poor sanitary conditions.

- Verified traveler (6/5): Great service but definitely not a 4 star property - The service was great and people were very kind, but the hotel is a 3 star hotel at best. The lobby is small but welcoming and the airport pickup is free and easy to arrange through email. The hotel is a 5 minute ride to the airport, so it is very convenient for a layover. On the negative, I would give the hotel 2 stars, so was surprised at its high rating. The first thing I saw in the room was a cockroach, followed by a fly, which buzzed around the room for 30 minutes. Then the room was quite noisy: you can hear everything on the floor (doors slamming, conversations, etc.) and there were dogs barking for hours next door. Needless to say, I did not get much sleep. And, in the morning, the hotel staff forgot to give me a wake up call. Next time I think I will spend the money and stay at the Sheraton or Radisson.

The service was outstanding - the manager and front desk staff were always very helpful and friendly, even when I had strange requests. The manager even sent tea up when she heard I was sick. The concierge also arranged a few trips for me to other parts of Ethiopia. My room was clean and comfortable and the internet worked well. Breakfast was also amazing.

I wish the gym had been up and running, but everything else was great. While it's close to the airport, I also wish the hotel were located a bit closer to major roads/city center. Friendly, clean and wonderfully managed by a woman who lived in California for 26 years. The area is safe and close to the airport as well as a few minutes from the Bole Road. For what you pay for I doubt you'll do better
- Marcia (10/5): Great Sauna and Steam Room. Friendly helpful Staff - I lost my luggage on arrival the hotel staff done everything they could to accommodate and make me feel safe and welcome. They even emailed my son for me and allowed him a reply when i locked myself out of my email account! I was given the good grace of a late check-out without charge as i had told them i may be back late from a visit to the provinces. I visited three hotels while in Addis Ababa and two in the provinces. The TEZEZE WAS BY FAR THE BEST!!! Good location to airport. Hoping to go Ethiopia again and hope to stay there again. Thanks for a wonderful time

- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel, great service - The staff was great. They always had a smile and never said, no. Rooms were average. A nicer chair in the rooms would be a nice addition.
- s (8/5): overall - Do not expect much as this is Ethiopia. At least the toilet flushed. Staff is nice. Hot water is a question. Internet is decent (better than most of the country) Neighborhood has nothing. You will need a taxi to get lunch. Ask for Johnny the taxi driver. He is less expensive than the hotel and is reliable, and speaks English. It is only 10 minutes from the airport. Do not let airport taxi drivers rip you off. Hotel has free return shuttle to airport.

- LewDiamond (10/5): Great stay - I had an overnight layover and was pleasantly surprised when I arrived. I've stayed in Addis before and wasn't sure what to expect but the receptionist was attentive, the restaurant was sufficient, and the room was a bit crowded but still pretty decent. Would I come back for a another visit? Heck yes!
- Terry (8/5): Nice hotel with fabulous staff - Nice hotel with really friendly and helpful staff. Staff really go out of their way to help you and the hotel is fairly new and very tidy. Rooms are pleasant too - but bathroom/amenity in rooms is probably 3+ star, rather than 4 star. Spa was fabulous too - great quality massages and very clean. Only problem was internet which was out of order for most of our stay - the hotel said this was an provider issue. Also the hotel is in a poor location - in back streets with no amenities nearby. About a 20 minute walk to the city.

- James (8/5): A nice place, not super convenient - I thought the hotel was nice, and the staff, the manager especially, bent over backwards to help us. We got put into what I'm starting to call a "hotels.com" type room, which seems to be the least they can offer, small window, right by the stairs. During breakfast the next morning, the manager asked if everything was okay, and when I hesitated, she went to great lengths to change us to a more comfortable room. (She also drove the shuttle to the airport--a Jill of all trades.) One issue I had was that it wasn't very convenient to the sights of the city, so we had to rely on drivers they found for us...I'd be happier walking next time.

- PT (8/5): Business Trip to Addis Ababa - The Tizeze is a small hotel in a residential area five minutes away from the Airport. The PROS: Very good customer service (in fact it was the best I have experienced in 25+ years of business traveling). The rooms, sheets, towels etc... were clean. The gym was small but decent while the spa was good and very affordable. The overall value was outstanding. The CONS: There is nothing (other Hotels, Restaurants etc...) nearby. The only place to eat was their restaurant, which was was average. They don't supply soap (they may if you asked). Like another reviewer wrote, the shampoo and conditioner were had used. Not a big issue because most travellers carry their own. I will repeat for sure because of the exception value, customer service and much of the industrial areas are nearby.
- Ploutis (6/5): Very expensive for its standards. - It was supposed to be a 4 star hotel but for European Standards it was not even 1 star! A room for 2 people costed USD90 and when I asked to use the sauna and steam bath they told me that I had to pay extra!! After a lot of complaints to the manager he finally accepted to allow me to use the sauna without extra charge. The sauna was the only reason I booked this hotel which I was suspected that it would not be a 4 star hotel anyway. It is also far away from the city center. Room was average in size, without a refrigerator and with one bedside lamp.

- Verified traveler (10/5): Fabulous Hotel, near airport and everything else - This is a very special experience. Staff is world class. All are trained at the national hotel school, all with great personalities. Each memorable. It became more of a home than a hotel; and I am a business traveller. Despite the eccentric neighborhood, the hotel had great rooms, perfect lighting, great appointments. Eden is the Duty Manager and amazing. Teff is the owner and always on hand to make sure things run soothingly. Makias will assure your transport is well coordinated. Love this place. Moses Thompson
- John (6/5): Just a nights sleep for an 11 hour layover - For my purposes it was fine for the price. Checked in and out quickly so I could get some sleep between flights. Dogs barking outside did not help though.
- Clinton Wright (8/5): A Great Value Stay! - A great stay at the Hotel Tezize. Found on the internet, as was my 1st time in Ethiopia, for a quick business trip. Free Hotel Shuttle pick up service was there at 3.30 am as promised, professional and efficient to and from the airport. Perfect location as only 10 mins away. Staff was welcoming, friendly and eager to please - well trained by the manager who visibly works hard for customer satisfaction and maintaining standards. Hotel lobby/bar my favourite experience of the hotel.Excellent value for rate; will certainly stay again - & certainly recommend to any business or leisure travellers. Sincerely, Clinton Wright
- Thomas Fortunato (10/5): Clean and convenient - was picked up immediately at the airport for a 5 minute drive. Place is very clean, staff are helpful and go out of their way to help. the restaurant has excellent service and selection and the staff do whatever they can to serve you well.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Relaxing, friendly, and very clean - The staff at Tizeze are very sweet and attentive. The rooms are spotless and the bed extremely comfortable. The restaurant was tasty with good ethiopian fare and delicious vegetarian pizza and juices. Breakfast is super as well. I enjoyed the view of the neighborhood and setting sun from my 4th floor room. It took 12 minutes for me to get to conference at Hilton, even in peak rush hour so there is no reason to pay more than double to stay at Hilton hotel unless you really want to feel you are not in Ethiopia. It is no more than 5 minutes from airport which is great when you are tired, or when you want to be in hotel comfort as long as possible before departure. They also do day rates that are very reasonable - I had a night flight to catch and was able to come to a good agreement for day use of the room which was well worthwhile.
- Deborah Jacobs (10/5): good bet for quick overnight btwn flights - I was very happy with my stay at the Tizeze. My flight arrived at 1 am and I had emailed my details ahead of time asking for a shuttle pick up, but didn't receive a response. But lo and behold, when I arrived a gentleman was waiting for me. So, the one small improvement that the hotel could have made for me was to respond/confirm about the pickup via email. Otherwise it was clean, close, kind, had a breakfast included and easy shuttle. I was pleased. One word of caution for others doing a quick overnight in Ethiopia is that you do need a visa. It ended up being confusing and expensive ($50) for me, no fun at 1 am. All the more I could appreciate the Tizeze taking care of me.
- Ken (6/5): Acceptable, reasonably priced, hotel close airport - I had a week at the Tizeze and found it adequate to my needs. No air-conditioning, maybe not needed at 2400 metres. I like Ethiopian food and would recommend theirs mildly. I made a lot of use of their free airport shuttle, with side trips to Djibouti and Lalibela. Warning - domestic flights and those to Djibouti, Juba and Somalia leave from terminal 1, all others from terminal 2. I reaped a lot of confusion at the airport partly from airport staff not knowing which flights left from where. This is a fairly good third world hotel, but it is third world.
- JC (8/5): Good hotel near the airport - I needed a hotel near the airport for a short stay. I booked online, and the staff were ready for my late arrival, very accommodating. I asked for a room with a balcony, and I received a top floor room, with a large balcony and a beautiful view of the city at night. The bed was amazing! Very soft, and comfortable, one of the best I've experienced in Addis.
- Carolan (10/5): Wonderful service - I stayed here for one night prior to returning home to the UK, after 3 weeks working in the Afar region. Arriving after a 10 hour road journey I was really impressed by the welcome I received and the lovely room.The staff couldn't have been more helpful I had dinner there and when I asked for a cup of tea, it was brought up to my room.Nothing was too much trouble, the next morning I was served breakfast and the shuttle to the airport was very prompt.Thankyou, I shall certainly recommend this hotel.

- Verified traveler (4/5): $450-NO SHOW - I found out the hard way that in order to cancel a reservation at this hotel it must be done through Expedia. Even though, after going to the Hotel in Person, I was told that I would get a refund from the attendant; they still charged me and stated that I was a No Show. The Attendant did not state that I have to cancel through Expedia. Though in the city, The Hotel is still "Out-Of-The Way." You will have to take a cab or car to get anywhere worth going. Its tucked away on a side street near the Cuban Embassy.
- Aaron (6/5): Decent Place - Good Food - I was a little shocked to find re-used shampoo, conditioner, and body wash bottles in all of our rooms. I guess it's green... but I'd prefer my own personal items. The lobby area of the hotel is very nice, the food in the restaurant was great. The beds were comfortable, but the rooms could use some freshening up (plaster and paint on the walls, etc). The hotel is off the beaten path in a quiet neighborhood. Safe, but not much to do without a taxi or hotel car. Overall, a great experience - but it's a 2 1/2 - 3 star hotel, not 4+.
