Guest Reviews
- Graham (10/5): Beautiful quiet stay with the Kangaroos! - Lovely, quiet location. Scenery and wildlife was spectacular. Everything you could want in a stay. Thank you!
- Michelle (10/5): Different experience - You can try this homestead if you like wildlife, especially you can feed kangaroos. No wifi so you won't have connection in FB, whatsapp emails.....etc. If you want a quiet environment and try a real forest-feel cottage, it's worth to try. Also, no air-condition is available but it really does not need air-condition as it is quite cold at night and we even used additional blanket.
- Jonathan (10/5): Amazing homestead. Highly recommend it - Initially, I didn't realize that I had the whole place to myself. It's a great homestead, centrally located. About one hour drive from the ferry in Penneshaw.
Easy to find. Close to the wildlife preserve. No park or attraction was more than a one hour drive.
There are no convenient markets so bring your own food.
You're on an unpaved road for several kilometers to reach the homestead, so make sure your rental car allows for this.
It was chilly a couple of nights, but they have a nice little fireplace and provide wood. Graeme came over and showed me how to easily light the fire. Piece of cake.
I loved seeing the kangaroos hanging on on the grass in front of the place. One evening, four kangaroos came to the front looking for food. I wish i had more to give them because they mastered the "please feed me look".
I would definitely stay there again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Exciting and peaceful stay - We spend three nights during New Year holidays. A lot of cute kangaroos and wallabies visited us every morning and evening. There's no light pollution, so we saw amazingly beautiful stars at night. It's a perfect place to feel great nature in KI. The owners were very helpful. Thank you so much. We want to come back.
- Roger (10/5): Simply fantastic - The homestead is in a stunning location with fabulous views and wildlife on the doorstep. It is extremely clean and well supper and in a great central location for touring the island. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and would recommend it highly. As with much of the best parts of the island it's down a well formed dirt road.
- Branden (10/5): Secluded Kangaroo Island spot of paradise - Wonderful stay in a secluded, private B&B. We saw countless kangaroos (a few boxing!), some echidnas, and wallabies on the property. The full kitchen allowed us to cook a nice breakfast while enjoy the scenery before setting off to see Flinders Chase National Park. We much preferred this to the city accommodation options. The kids loved running on the wide open fields and practicing navigation skills in the wooded bushland. The owners Graeme and Kathy were quite helpful and accommodating despite the Expedia site mix-up. Though this is technically "off the grid", you'd never know it thanks to full power (battery and generator), gas, water, etc. The smell of the fireplace on the rainy nights, sipping a glass of wine after the kids turned in, and playing some mindless backgammon is what being in a spot like this is all about. Thanks!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great place to stay - Excellent central location, great hosts, lovely setting, native animals on property
- Meital (10/5): Absolute heaven - Staying in this cabin was an absolute dream. The beautifully maintained cabin is located in the middle of Kangaroo Island, in total seclusion. You need to drive down unpaved dirt roads to get there. Waking up with nothing outside your door but beautiful meadows, grass, and kangaroos. Words can't do this cabin justice. If you love nature and value seclusion, this place is perfect.
- Pernille (10/5): Nice eco cottage for max4 in beautiful wilderness - We experienced the real Kangaroo Island and our hosts were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the stylish and pleasant cottage that rooms 4 visitors.
- Andrea (10/5): Eleanor River Homestead - Eleanor River Homestead was a great place to stay on KI with lots of wildlife to be seen right on the property (kangaroos, echidnas, koalas...). It was very peaceful and we'd definitely stay there again.
- Chilun (10/5): lots fun - excelent
