Guest Reviews

- Moira (1/5): Do not stay here. Terrifying experience - Nothing The property is not staffed. We arrived to check in and the hotel was u occupied and locked. We could not get in. There is a number to call but there is no phone signal.
- Olivier (7/5): -
- Viviane (6/5): pleasant despite very strong storm during our stay - Breakfast but would be nice to see staff A bit too isolated and desolate
- David (10/5): - Everything was good at this hotel easy self check in
- Antonio (8/5): -
- Martin (7/5): Familienurlaub - Nette Holzbauweise, gute Lage.

- Heather (7/5): Accommodations were decent. The website says they have extra beds to add to rooms but that is a lie. The breakfast was g - Convenient when dealing with road closures from a weather event. No staff made it an interesting rental experience. Felt very isolated.
- Ceuppens (7/5): -
- Heather (7/5): - We were able to book last minute when weather interrupted our travel plans. The description says they have extra beds. We booked a family room and asked for the extra bed. We were told after the fact that they didn’t have extra beds. That was false advertising and made us purchase another room for night.
- Bonicel (6/5): -
- Sarah (6/5): Overpriced - The location was good for what we needed and the outside looks very cool. Staff were helpful. It is extremely overpriced for the room and breakfast you get vs. other places in the area. We booked this as a "treat" but it was very much just a standard hotel.
The breakfast was limited and stale, there was no kettle or anything in the room and the rooms were tiny.
- Karen (1/5): Atrocious Outrageous. Such a disappointment - The picture above of the log cabin is a scam. This building is locked up. We were given a chalet 500m away. Never got into this beautiful looking building. As for The included breakfast was nowhere to be found. No staff. The jacuzzi full of algae and as for the swimming pool. Again nowhere to
Be seen. Phone number lead nowhere.

- Rachel (10/5): - The view was incredible! Parking out front was easy and there was plenty of space. Breakfast had many options which I appreciated because I’m vegetarian. The hot tub out back was relaxing and is open 24/7, so although it’s small, you can easily find a time to relax privately. The smell of the water is noticeable, though it’s just because of the minerals in that area. It’s not bothersome as long as you expect it to be different!
- Lindsay (10/5): Beautiful location and cute accommodations! The hot tub was a great bonus. Highly recommend. -
- Simona (5/5): Non ci tornerei . Rapporto qualità prezzo assurda - Posizione. Colazione abbondante Pulizia e staff

- farnaz (5/5): - It was a clean hotel and cozy. The breakfast was good enough. It was far from everything and everywhere. No reception at the property and it was difficult to go for dinner. We could not have hot water.
- Nicole (3/5): I would not choose this stay again. Other places nearby are the same price and better service. - The building was great None of the support numbers or emails worked to contact the property even within their designated check in time.
- Carol (10/5): -
- Paul (10/5): - The property is beautiful and extremely clean. The room we were in had a double bed and a king size bed. They were very comfortable. The bathroom and shower were great. We enjoyed the hot tub. The breakfast was much better than we expected! They had eggs and bacon and many types of pastries and cereal! Excellent stay in a quiet and convenient place. Close to Vik but far enough away to get quiet. A great place to see Northern Lights - but it was too cloudy for us to see any.
- Sebastian (9/5): -
- Swami Nalinanand (2/5): - There is literally no one there and is very scary to be there alone feels like a haunted house

- Stylianou (8/5): - Very clean, with food personnel.
Richful breakfast with a hottab and very good location
- Victoria (10/5): - Rooms were very spacious and well equipped/decorated. A continental breakfast was served 8-10am which was lovely and the staff were very helpful too. The hot tub was a cherry on top.
Dzien przed przyjazdem dostalismy kod do drzwi, bez recepcji
- Jose Alberto (5/5): Aceptable - Baño limpio y amplio.
- April (5/5): Cute place, great location, but nonexistent staff/service - The location is excellent, the bed and room were comfortable, breakfast was decent, and the log cabin is cute. When we arrived we realized that our TV was missing the remote. We searched the room high and low for it to no avail. Within an hour of check in we contacted the hotel by both Whatsapp and text message, as well as through booking.com. We stayed two nights and checked out of the room 13 hours ago but have still yet to receive a response. The shower door was not properly functioning and it's apparent that the owners have not been keeping up with maintaining the building as there was cracking and separation visible where the log walls were adhered to the sheet rock walls, the flooring has also visibly separated so that you can see large gaps between the boards. There was also no way to indicate to the cleaning staff if you did not wish to be disturbed. When the staff came in to service the room all they did was replace the towels and check the toilet paper. The floors also were not swept or vacuumed so shoes or slippers had to be worn in the room at all times unless you enjoy having dirty feet and the feeling of walking on tiny bits of gravel or sand. Additionally the hotel WiFi was not very good.
- Sandrine (9/5): -
- Diego (8/5): Ottima posizione. Buona struttura - Posizione struttura
- Douglas (9/5): -
- Angie (8/5): - Very clean and warm There was confusion as to how to enter the property as it is not manned 24 hours a day , they send you a key code and your room no , so when you arrive you see a key box on the outside of the property, but this is redundant and the door is open the,cde is for your room key which is situated outside your room door , they need to remove the key box on the outside door . The hotel is beautiful with an outside hotel tub , we had a lovely stay and highly recommend
- Taylor (4/5): - Practically impossible check in. If it wasn’t for the wonderful house keeper we would have never gotten checked in and would have had to sleep on the lobbies couch. Called countless times to no avail for someone to give a code to check in. No phone anywhere in the facilities. The hot tub actually had algae in it. The room was VERY small. (Watch your head) Only saving grace was a comfy bed and a nice breakfast spread. Would not recommend.
- Dustin (8/5): - Very cozy place and the staff was friendly. I do believe they have something wrong with the drains. They didn’t drain well and they emitted a noxious smell. The room was quite nice but there was a lot of sand on the floor so it was pretty gritty.
- Ashley (2/5): - Never got in touch with staff… couldn’t access room, no response from the staff even a week after our trip.
- Nicholas (2/5): - It took a very long time for me to receive the code to get yourself into the room. The staff began banging on the door at 10:45 AM which was 15 minutes before check out.
The man was very rude.
I can’t believe you allow this place on hotels.com. I’ve been using it for decades. I’m considering changing options because of this location.
The experience is terrible overall.
- Robert (6/5): Cpuld have been worse I guess - The rooms were tidy, which was appreciated. However, the check-in process was extremely frustrauted as we were unable to reach anyone during this time. Hopefully, the issues with the check-in service can be addressed for future guests as we were the lukcy ones with the ability to even check in like guests. Overall, there's room for improvement to provide a more seamless experience. The rooms while clean required maintenance like the door to the balcony not functioning and in response, staff members claimed it is what it is without any attempt to repair.
- Andreja (8/5): - Nice small hotel under the mountain with a hot tub. Small room, narrow hall for the breakfast, no staff.
- Norman (10/5): - Stayed in room 102. The hotel is a beautiful log cabin design with a lot of neat touches such as the carved bears in the staircases. The room is a nice size with a mini fridge that is only big enough for a couple drinks. Bed was comfortable. The breakfast was great. A large variety of sweets, cereal, fresh bread and even eggs and bacon. Had no issues getting the code or opening the lockbox that held the key. Recommended. Close to Skogafoss and the amazing hike to Kvernufoss.
- Todd (8/5): - The facility is in a beautiful location and the staff was very friendly. Parking was also not a problem, although the website states that no on-site parking is available. Breakfast was also excellent.
One area for improvement - the beds are very close to the wall where the windows are. As a result, the drapes hang over the bed and contact the person in the bed, which can be starling during sleep.
- Mandy (7/5): Good spot to visit local attractions - lovely setting - poor quality of one room and other wrong type - no one available - Stunning location / reasonable breakfast - enjoyed hot tub No one available throughout the 2 nights to advise wrong room (we requested a twin got a double) called Managers number randomly 15 times over 2 days - no reply. We had 2 rooms booked - one exceptionally ‘basic’
- ETHEL JOY (10/5): - This property DO NOT HAVE ANY STAFF. The staff only comes in the morning to prepare breakfast for guests. They will emaill you a few hours before check in for the code to your room. Don't worry, if they don't there is a phone yiu can use to call the owners. This is a beautiful property! Surrounded by mountains and waterfalls it is an amazing accomodation! breakfast is amazing! However, there's flies!!! So just beware. The rooms are huge! The kitchen has unlimited supply of coffee,, tea and biscuits! We will definitely stay again!
- Sandy (8/5): Cozy in the Woods! - Breakfast was delicious! Parking was good. Beautiful facility
- Erika (9/5): -
- Marc (7/5): -
- McCartan (10/5): This was a great place, lots to do around - Location, very clean and comfortable. Excellent breakfast. The building was great Liked everything
- Mary (10/5): - Really enjoyed the breakfast that was included. Very quiet location. As with many places in Iceland, there was no staff on site so you had to use an access code for entry. No restaurants are close by so we had to go to Vik.
- Xin (6/5): - Check in is terrible
- Simon (7/5): pleasant although check in was a challenge. Better communication is needed - location
ambience
breakfast although coffee not so good we are older and had to carry luggage upstairs
The room was too small
i had to duck to get in and out of bed.
Too small for 2 people to get dressed together
- MARCEL JR (8/5): - Good place but a little bit isolated
- Francesco Grinciari (10/5): - Bellissima struttura, isolata e perfetta per vedere l'aurora boreale. Ambiente pulito e accogliente, colazione abbondante e varia. Ottimo
- Roger (10/5): - Quiet location on the south coast. Breakfast buffet was exceptional for a small hotel. We liked the coffee machine was available at all times with several options. Did not like the absence of a receptionist and phone assistance does not work after 9pm. One guest arrived without his room code and had to find alternative accommodation.
- Gail (2/5): - I did not stay. No service staff on premises. Arrived. Building unlocked no cars and no one there. In the middle of country. Advertised hotel. Empty with locked bedrooms. Very unsettling. Seems the staff fled the property or they don’t provide any service. Went to a hotel for the night. Want reimbursement.
- OLIVIER (5/5): - Un lieu et un emplacement superbes. Un personnel non chaleureux.
- xueying (4/5): - The check in process should be better if owner can give precise response. I called and they said we would get codes to check in within 24 hours, but got code in the last minute. This made us very uncomfortable since it is our first time to come in this new place and worried no room.
Also, I booked 3 double twin rooms and only got one twin room. I sent request and no any response.
The property is pretty and provides free breakfast. The surrounding views are very beautiful.
- Rich (9/5): - Hot tub & view. Easy to get to
- Melissa (8/5): - The cabin was so cozy with the mountain back drop right down the road from Skogafoss, a BEAUTIFUL waterfall with a trail system behind it. There is also a great restaurant next to this waterfall. 5 minutes away from the cabin there is also a great cafe called Taxi Cafe.
The hot tub on this property is awesome. No chlorine, just heated freshwater, and it’s kept clean. Our room and bathroom was cozy as well. Breakfast items were served from 8am-10am. The eggs were powdered, and the quality of the food was sub par, but it was something to eat. There is a coffee machine available most hours.
Some of the downsides, you are only given one towel for bathing, and one tiny refrigerator enough to hold two sodas. The service was terrible. I asked the staff a question on two occasions and they rolled their eyes and ignored me both times. The bathroom window was cracked then glued back together with a window sticker to cover it. Instead of a view of the mountain, we had that.
Overall, would go back again. We had a lovely stay, check in was easy, and the facilities were good.
- Debra (8/5): Very picturesque - Very roomy and quiet. Good breakfast Better communication for check in .. No one was on location and had bad cell reception to call for help
- Jidong (10/5): - The staffs were very friendly and the breakfast offers so many choices!
- Prashant (7/5): - The location was beautiful. Big tasty breakfast and hot drinks available all day. Zero communication. We needed a cot for our baby and despite multiple attempts to confirm via booking.com and their direct email we never heard anything back. We ended up arriving early to check and were told to come back later. There was in fact a cot provided and high chairs available at breakfast.
As stated check in was a problem for most people. We were sent the door code in advance so no issues for us, but we met lots of people struggling to call or find a phone.
On our second day we were locked out of the hotel and informed it would not be accessible until 4pm, but we weren't told this in advance so we hadn't taken the things we needed from our room.
The bathrooms did have a weird smell (thermal water?)
- Tim B. (7/5): Clean and well maintained a good value. - Breakfast was better than average the staff definitely cared about the guests. The walls are thin so you can hear conversations in the hallway or other rooms. That said the guests were not loud and it did not disturb our sleep.
- Simon (10/5): - One of the best nights sleep I've had
- Hugo (10/5): - Beautiful place to rest after a busy day in Iceland.
- Marco (9/5): -
- Ranga (10/5): - We like to stay there. The hot tub was perfect after a long day of sightseeing. Location was great and breakfast was the best we’ve had since we’ve been here. We would definitely stay there again.
- Gary (8/5): - Met all of the basic needs of a place to stay + breakfast included.
- Rupal (10/5): - Beautiful!!!
- Karyn (6/5): Beautiful setting. Great location. Wonderful breakfast. Nice guests. Awful on-site manager - The location was unbeatable as a departure point for exploring the southern coast. Quiet. Peaceful. And the lodge was lovely. The ladies preparing the breakfast were delightful and friendly and the buffet was robust with a wide selection of cooked food including eggs and sausages, smoked salmon, yogurts, cereals, breads, fruits, coffee, juices. Quite a spread. Despite prior reviews the breakfast was set out by 7 am and guests were eating. That said, some areas to improve: Lots of deferred repairs. The hot tub had moss growing....though the view was amazing. Regular maintaining of this would be easy. The floors creaked so we heard our upstairs neighbors often. The beds had awful, saggy mattresses and we were unable to communicate with staff as there were none on site. The windows did not open except for one as the cranks were missing and the room got quite hot at night due to the thick, down comforters. We requested a blanket but no reply. The big downer that unfortunately left us with a bad taste was the 'manager' who arrived on the second morning. He commanded the ladies to not allow anyone to eat before 8am (though the prior days the spread was open at 7am and everyone was eating). and he yelled at us in front of other guests because we were bringing two small croissants and a few slices of cheese back to our room. I am not a breakfast person but do get hungry around 10am so since we paid for the food I assumed this was ok and there were no signs requesting guests to not do this. That said, I do respect policies but to yell at us in front of other guests was awful. He could have been far more discreet. When we later asked him to fix the window the attitude was truly awful...he made us feel quite 'put out' and yet we were the paying guests! Get a new on-site manager who understands the business of making guests feel welcome and at home.
- Michael (10/5): - Beautiful place
- Rose (6/5): - Pro: Picturesque country setting. Great concept. Clean facilities. Beautiful building. Smelled welcoming like coffee and waffles. Snuggle soft beds. Delightful quiet. Snacks upon arrival. Breakfast was ample and that was a surprise given no on-site staff. Cons: no ice, no way to cool room or ventilate. Attic room had slanted ceilings and it was comical to move around room. If provided another room, or a fan, or available ice to cool down, I would recommend. I do not recommend the slanted ceiling attic room with the huge header log running through it. Other log houses generally use that pitched room for a closet or storage. Too exhausted to pursue recourse. Woke up twice to put wet wash clothes on body to cool down. Had to crawl over husband to get out of bed. Room was a real disappointment.
- Christine (8/5): - We liked the self check-in process. It was smooth and easy. Our room was under the eaves and we were not able stand up straight anywhere in the room, only the bathroom. But it was a beautiful property and we enjoyed the hot tub.
- Jenn (8/5): - A quiet, no frills place to stay on your way down the southern coast. Easy to find and to get into room. The hot tub was great, however no extra towels are available. Structure of the building was very pretty. We stayed in the family room with our two teenagers and had plenty of room. Breakfast was ok, would have liked a yogurt option.
- gabriel (4/5): - Pricy for the cleaniness and quality of the room.
- Theodore (4/5): - There is no check-in staff on duty and codes for room keys are sent via messages. We had two rooms. We were given the code for the key to only one room. Despite repeated Expedia messages, text messages and unanswered phone calls we were unable to get the 2nd key until we used WhatsApp to call late on our arrival date.
Once we had the rooms, one of them didn't have windows that openned and a shower with hardware that rattle and moved in the wall.
A beautiful place, a nice breakfast, but just terrible checkin and room quality experience.
- Gongchen (2/5): - Couldn’t check in
