- Verified traveler (10/5): - Donna is just a lovely person. We came for the Luray Triathlon and she had us sorted out! She had a triathlete friendly breakfast to go prepared for us allowed late checkout so we could clean up afterwards. The property is lovely. We will definitely be back for a weekend getaway and take more time to enjoy the town and Woodruff House.
- Bobby (10/5): Annual Hike - Fabulous accommodations - Donna is an awesome host!
- Robert (10/5): Warm and gracious hosts (who are terrific cooks)! - Donna and Anne were the most gracious and warm hosts. Donna escorted us inside when we arrived, gave us the tour, and explained everything. We immediately felt at home. Donna and Anne are excellent cooks, and their breakfasts started each day off perfectly. I hope I can stay with them again!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Everything like on this place. The two ladys is very nice and all on the house high recommended
- Cassie (10/5): - Donna and John were lovely hosts. Our room was quaint and charming and even had a jacuzzi tub in addition to a private bath. Very nice experience. We will book a room at the Woodruff House again if we ever return to Luray!
- EdM (10/5): - Rustic, homely, like a warm blanket in the dead of winter
- Kevin (10/5): - Did a spur of the moment trip to Luray Caverns and picked the Woodruff House by chance. Lucky choice! Place could not have been nicer. Met Donna who gave us a tour of the property and suggestions for our evening. Weren’t there long enough to take advantage of all the amenities but we’re going back when the leaves change. Highly recommend!
- Jim (8/5): - Our only suggestion would be to empty ashtrays daily so nonsmokers are not deterred from using the gazebo or deck. Otherwise, comfortable, clean, relaxing atmosphere close to attractions.
- WoodruffHouse (10/5): - Everything you need in walking distance! Donna is a great host! Clean and neat place. Breakfast she cooks for guests is perfect! Only need a small cooler in the rooms for cold drinks.
- Claudia (10/5): Wonderful. - We had a wonderful stay. Donna was a fabulous host and her breakfast was amazing. We would definitely stay again and highly recommend to others.

It was our anniversary and the chocolate cake they made was incredible! Back yard area beautiful. Deck with lots of seating, hot tub, fire pit which they lit for us. Great location. So happy we got to spend our anniversary eve there.

- Verified traveler (10/5): - We loved the house as well as our room. Located very close to Luray Caverns that we toured. Breakfast was good as well as conversations with .the owner and other quests.Would recommend this B&B to others and hope to come back to visit again soon!
- Pamela (10/5): Enjoying the comforts of home - We stayed at the Woodruff for one not, passing through from NC. We arrived after ‘check in’ to find a personal letter for us telling us we were welcomed and how to enter the property and directions to the room. The Woodruff certainly is not a Hotel or Motel. It is a quaint historical building with many original features still intact and an ambiance of charm . Our room was equipped with a Spa tub and a much needed window size air conditioner. The bed was comfortable. The shower was adequate, serving our purpose with soft fresh smelling towels provided. The kitchen/ dining room is fully accessible to the residents. Tea/ coffee, home made cookies , fruit are available when needed. On our morning visit for breakfast the food was freshly prepared, not sitting under heat lamps. The guests at the B& B sat together around one table, which was very personal with conversations taking place throughout the meal. Our host was available to meet our needs. There are two very pretty and comfortable sitting rooms to enjoy the feeling of being welcomed in a home. The outside area, has a hot tub, a fire pit, decking area etc . I would really recommend giving this place a visit when you are planning a visit to Luray, VA.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This home was very clean and all amenities were updated. But it was like taking a step back in history with the unique design and antique furniture. Home owner, Donna was amazing. She was a wealth of information for restaurants and places to see. And her breakfast was fabulous!!!!
- Christian (10/5): - First time staying in a bed and breakfast like this. We were kinda unsure about it, but it turned out to be a great experience! The owners were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great. They even had a fire pit and provided marshmallows! All in all a great place. We'd definitely stay here again.

- Verified traveler (8/5): - Donna, the host, is fantastically helpful and dedicated to great service. The home is wonderful.
- Amy (10/5): Great amenities and wonderful hospitality - My boyfriend and I stayed at several BnBs recently and this was by far our favorite. The bed was super-spacious and SO COMFORTABLE. The place was clean and homey and the gracious and friendly host went out of her way to prepare food that accommodated my meatless, gluten-free diet. This place has all the amenities I would hope for, plus there is a wonderful outdoor Jacuzzi that was perfect for my aching muscles after a day of hiking. Highly recommended!
- Chris (10/5): Welcoming and very relaxing - We have just left the Woodruff B&B with full very tummies and agreed if we are ever travelling this way again we would definitely stay.
There was great communication between Donna and ourselves even before we arrived in the States.
As we arrived in the afternoon, Donna was there to greet us with a welcoming smile and showed us around the B&B. Donna was very informative about places to eat, visit and things to do and throughout was very friendly. Over the few days we stayed, we were greeted every morning with a very cheerful welcome and an amazing breakfast. Donna was fab catering for my veggie needs. We had a yummy fruit bowl every morning, a cooked breaky and then another tasty treat. The apple muffins and pancakes were amazing. Donna was extremely easy to talk to and made us both feel very welcome and relaxed.
During the day and evening there was always tea and coffee available and some yummy cookies as well.
The hot tub on the patio was a fab way to chill out in the evening.
Our room was in the attic, clean, loads of space, two air conditioning systems as well as a fan and a great jacuzzi. There was plenty of parking right outside as well, which made unloading the car easy.
We would definitely recommend a stay here, Donna is a fantastic host and extremely welcoming.
- Carol (8/5): Nice stay! - Lovely B&B. Our hostess, Donna, was very gracious. Breakfast was wonderful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Will go back! - Great room, delicious breakfast, Donna is so sweet. Definitely will return for another weekend.
- Caroline (10/5): Woodruff House B&B - VA - Excellent small B&B, centrally located to attractions and restaurants, great breakfast made to order and enjoyed our stay, would stay again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Amazing B&B! The staff was very helpful and kind.
- Connie (10/5): Beautiful, well equipped B&B in Luray, VA - Classic, well-appointed Victorian house with many "extras" (in-room jacuzzi, spacious back porch with hot tub, furniture, grill, etc.) and a friendly, attentive owner who is an excellent chef. I recommend the Woodruff House most highly.
- Halls (10/5): Ideal location for Shanandoah Park.Very homely. - Donna is a geat hostess and gave us so much info of places to visit and trails to do.Had the full use of lounge and kitchen with tea coffee and home made cake any time..Really quiet location, comfortable room and delicious breakfast.
Luray is a pretty town with some good eating places. So handy for the National Park which is beautiful with fantastic variety of trails to suit all abilities.
- Ed (10/5): Even after 20 years, it still impresses - Stayed here 20 years ago and was thrilled to see it was still open. New owners have made the place more homey and modern (the 14,000 doilies are gone, thank god!) and it felt like I was staying with family. Absolutely would recommend.
- Courtney (10/5): AMAZING STAY - It was an AMAZING experience! The food was yummy, the room was beautiful. Donna was extremely helpful with recomendations and our overall stay. She knew what time to go to places for them to not be busy. We will have to come back! She was such a great help!
- Judy (8/5): Helpful local knowledge. - Donna was a breath of fresh air. She was enthusiastic and very helpful with every aspect of our stay. Her knowledge of local produce, restaurants, activities, directions and tours was exemplary, making our visit memorable. Thank you Donna.
- Karen (8/5): Very cool home with loads of character. - The hosts were lovely and provided some very special touches.
- Beverly (10/5): Pleasant B&B convient to Luray Caverns - Great location off Hwy 81 and near Luray Caverns, Va. We enjoy staying at B&B's when we travel, Woodruff House did not disappoint. Great location, staff friendly, accommodations good, breakfast very good.
- Chet (8/5): Luray Caverns - Located near all attractions and restaurants. Staff was very welcoming and congenial, made us feel at home like an old lost friend. House was made availed to us as if we owned it. House was very comfortable and clean.
- Orna (10/5): A welcoming inn - We were very happy with our stay at the Woodruff House. We happened to arrive very early and called to ask to leave our suitcase. We were told that our room was ready and we were welcome to stay. The room was nice, the owner was gracious and gave us great recommendations about lunch and dinner. The breakfast was very tasty.
- Teresa (10/5): - It's a great bed and breakfast . It's very homey and the owners are very accommodating with everything even food choices/ allergies, etc.
- Jimbo (8/5): A very affordable B&B in town. - Woodruff house is a nice quaint B&B and a great value in the Luray area.
Close to downtown and the Caverns, just off the main route to get to skyline drive.
The breakfast was excellent. The rooms are clean, the house condition could use some freshening up, but for the prices charged it is an excellent value.
- Denise (10/5): loved Woodruff House and Donna! - The owner was so very sweet and attentive to all the guests. we had the attic room with was so quaint, beautifully furnished and decorated. we enjoyed the downstairs rooms for reading and the deck for spending outside time. it was private and very comfortable. the house is within walking distance of Luray and we went for many walks. the owner was very helpful with tips about the area, things to do, what to avoid. She made terrific breakfasts.
- lynn (10/5): Warm and charming - We were just here one night and we wish we could've stayed longer to take advantage of the outdoor spa and deck. Donna was a wonderful host and made us feel so at home. Breakfast was fabulous! Also she let us check in early so we could get to my reunion on time. And there was homemade cake in the dining room!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Stayed 2 nights to see the local area and enjoy the scenery.
- Twila (10/5): Cooter's Last Stand 2017 - Amazing breakfast every morning. They made us feel like it was home. Excellent hospitality.
- Steven (10/5): Great breakfast. Friendly hostess - Great stay. Outstanding breakfast
- Sandy (10/5): Victorian Beauty - LOVED this big Victorian! A great stopping spot if you're traveling from North to South or vice versa. Wonderful restaurants at the huge (and expensive) hotel up the street; elegant or casual dining just a short walk. Donna couldn't have been nicer. They'd just had a wedding party stay there for several days with total run of the house--what a great idea! I love an Inn or B&B that let's you feel like the house is "yours." Wish we could have stayed longer, that's for sure!!
- Kathryn (10/5): Cozy, home-like B&B - We loved our stay here. We stayed two nights, using this as our base of operations to explore some local attractions. Cozy is the best word for the house - it's not elegant and perfect - it's an older home, and has been maintained, rather than being gutted and completely refinished. Unlike many B&Bs, this one included full access to the kitchen at lunch and dinner, if we wanted to use it. The owner welcomed us warmly, and by the time we left we were chatting with her over breakfast like old friends. One warning - there is an active railroad track a couple of blocks away, and trains blow a warning whistle when coming through. It reminded me pleasantly of my home town, but might be annoying if you're a light sleeper. The breakfast was good and plentiful. We very much enjoyed our stay, and will probably try to plan our route on our next trip south to go through Luray so we can return. Highly recommended if you want a relaxed and home-like place to stay.
- cathy (6/5): B&B near the Luray Caverns - Warned of a loose chipmunk in the house, hot water ran out when half the jacuzzi was filled at 6pm, warm water for 4am shower, helicopter circling overhead at 3am woke us up too early. House smelled musty with black cherry candle scent trying to hide the odor.
- Kathleen (10/5): Great B&B! - This is a beautiful older B&B with probably the best breakfast we've ever had at a B&B. Also, a historic restaurant just up the street and a fun old Theater for movies within a few blocks.
- Rhonda (10/5): Centrally located B &B - The owner, Donna is a fantastic hostess. She couldn't have done any more to make us comfortable. I have gluten and dairy issues, and she gladly accommodated both! She fixed us a delicious and generous breakfast. She was able to recommend a great restaurant for dinner. It happened to have a great band there that night and we stayed and sang along! It was just a wonderful time away. Highly recommended!
- Ellen (10/5): - Best breakfasts. Best jacuzzi tubs. Very conveniently located near downtown Luray and Skyline Drive.
- Philip (10/5): A great bed and breakfast - Lovely bnb with a really nice room. Bed was extremely comfortable. Finished off with a great breakfast in the morning.
- Verified traveler (10/5): A fantastic stay! - The Woodruff House is an amazing place for a great relaxing evening or getaway. The breakfast is unbelievably great, Donna is a fantastic host and the rooms themselves have a fun decor (and hot tubs!)
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent welcome from a friendly host
- Charles (8/5): Good food warm host - I very much enjoyed my even though it was just one night
- HS (10/5): Wonderful host, quaint B&B - This was not the cheapest, fanciest or most comfortable hotel we stayed in during our 2-week trip to the US. It was, however, the most memorable because of Donna, the owner and host. She was so friendly, helpful and enthusiastic, and the breakfast she provided each day was so good. The location was very convenient for driving to the Shenandoah National Park, Luray Caverns and the Shenandoah River. There was also a convenient Italian restaurant down the street (recommended by Donna) that served excellent pizza at a very reasonable price. Note that each room is furnished differently, so do choose your room according to your taste and needs.
- Sue (10/5): Perfect anniversary stay! - Donna, owner and hostess, was very personable, gracious, and helpful. She made a delicious and extensive breakfast, with items made to order. The inn was very attractively decorated and comfortable. Many extras such as glassware available for personal use, access to kitchen, 24 hour coffee/tea, baked goods and fruit on the sideboard, made it above and beyond the ordinary. Delightful beginning to our vacation. We would definitely return there again when in the area.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Already booked our next stay! - We really enjoyed the Woodruff. We spent the day hiking in Shenandoah National park along a section of the AT. We were weary and Donna was so friendly and welcoming. She showed us straight to our rooms and gave us wonderful suggestion for dinner and evening activities,
- Jennifer (10/5): One night stay, family of 3 - Donna was wonderful - she even left out a small gift for our 6-year old upon arrival. We stayed in the Rooftop room, which is a converted attic. This is the only room in the inn which has an additional day bed, which was great for our son. There is a lovely hot tub, which I'm sure would make it a nice room for couples, as well. The breakfast was awesome - hot homemade items with lots of variety. We were a short drive from Luray Caverns, which was the reason we chose this location. I recommend the Woodruff House and the Caverns.
- Elizabeth (10/5): A GREAT place to stay! - We had a very pleasant stay. Would definitely return on our next trip back. The owner was extremely pleasant and very attentive to our needs and prepared a delicious breakfast for us. The house is quite old and packed with charm and we felt very at home.
- Joseph (10/5): - Donna was very helpful for planning a future event. She is just a very nice person and makes a fabulous and fantastic breakfast!
- Joel (8/5): Luray's getaway - Donna did a great job at making us feel welcome! She was very attentive and friendly. She made our stay very pleasant.
- Cory (6/5): - Loved the house and the owner. She went above and beyond to make the stay as welcoming and comfortable as possible. My only critique is that the house (not my room) has this weirdly sweet, sickening smell... like too many candles or syrup or something. It nauseated me.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Very Nice B&B - We had a lovely stay and just loved Donna, the owner. She provides a killer breakfast and great company.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very quaint bed and breakfast by Luray caverns - This was such a wonderful experience! This was my boyfriend and I first experience with a B and B and we were so impressed! The host Donna was amazing! Her breakfast is fantastic! We both with we had bigger stomachs to finish all of the great food! The hot tub was so romantic outside on the porch which you have access to at anytime of day! The rooms were cozy with a nice big two person jacuzzi tub in the rooms! The only negative was the lack of water pressure in the shower. But that's to be expected im sure in an older Victorian home. The house was very beautiful and quaint! This was a really great little getaway! I highly recommend it!!
