A great cottage and extremely well maintained by Robert and his family, who have owned the property for decades. That shows!!! Amazing location for an escape from the city!! Nothing not to like!!

The staff went above and beyond to help make our engagement day extra special, and you could feel their genuine happiness for us. The cottage itself was absolutely stunning, a beautiful 90s wood cabin with a cozy interior and breathtaking views of rolling hills. Dawn and dusk felt magical. The owners have wonderful personalities, and we’re glad to have experienced their farm and property. A special mention goes to the chef — the food was top-notch, crafted with quality ingredients and plated beautifully. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect stay. 💛
• Rhiannon (10/5): Loved everything about this place!! - Our stay at Tuki Retreat was incredible! We were in the area for the Clunes book fair, and Tuki retreat was just a short drive away. The property was so peaceful and relaxing, with the most stunning views and sunsets. The cottage we stayed in was the perfect size for our family of 4, with enough space for us to spread out and relax. The beds were really comfy! The staff were so friendly and welcoming, it felt like we were staying at a friend’s place for the weekend. The food at the restaurant was honestly life changing! Everything was so fresh and delicious. This is an absolute must do if you stay at Tuki! Cannot recommend this place enough! We will definitely be back 💛

• Alistair (10/5): Great experience, would recommend for anyone staying in Smeaton - We stayed there for a wedding nearby at the Brolga Hills Estate. Perfect spot as it was 8 min drive to the wedding venue. The wedding venue is new and caters for a weekend stay as they have a pool for the next day. We didn’t stay with the wedding group and decided Tuki was ideal. As described, Tuki is a nice farm country style location with cottages, finished really well and amenities such as TV, Kitchenette, fridge and wifi all worked well. Nice views of the trout lakes from the property. Breakfast was a legitimate 10/10. Farm to table produce and really well cooked. If we had more time we’d have tried fishing for trout and eating it for dinner but we were quite busy with the wedding Would recommend staying here instead of Daylesford if you like a quieter more traditional farm experience that still caters to modern needs. Staff were lovely, spoke with the owner a few times briefly, made us feel very welcome and seemed very proud of his establishment. Well deserved.

• Marie (10/5): SPECTACULAR COTTAGES, VIEWS, FOOD, WINE AND HOSPITALITY! - Tuki is spectacular! We loved the forever views with the mist coming and going and even birds we've never seen before flirting with the rain that was spilling into the pond in front of our beautiful and spacious, private solid bluestone cottage which had an open stone fireplace that burnt hot the whole cold stormy wet weekend. It was gorgeous! We walked into the warm and cosy barn style restaurant on arrival and were welcomed with a mulled wine from a pot sitting next to the roaring warm round stone fireplace from the wonderful welcoming owners Robert and Jan and again when we arrived for dinner by the wonderful chef Julian who also prepared and brought out the most delicious meals as well! Seriously if you want a romantic weekend away or just to relax and have some quiet or rent a couple of these cottages with friends and eat some beautiful food with serene scenery then this is the place. I think all seasons here would be amazing so we must come back!

From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the stunning panoramic views and the peaceful, natural surroundings. The cosy cabin was a dream — complete with a spa bath and open fireplace, it created the perfect atmosphere to relax and unwind. The retreat features beautiful lakes where you can catch your own trout — a fun and rewarding experience. The onsite restaurant was a standout, showcasing premium trout and lamb sourced directly from the working farm, along with other high-quality, locally sourced ingredients. Every meal was fresh, flavourful, and beautifully presented. The service was outstanding — warm, personal, and truly first class. Whether you’re looking for a romantic getaway or simply a place to switch off and recharge, I couldn’t recommend Tuki Retreat more highly. A truly special place that leaves you feeling refreshed and inspired.

The location is quiet and beautiful, the staff a joy to deal with, and the cuisine offered in the restaurant absolutely amazing. We can't recommend Tuki highly enough, and intend to keep returning.

The accommodation is cozy and well-appointed, making it a great place to unwind. We also enjoyed the delicious food at the on-site restaurant, which perfectly complemented the serene setting.

• Brandon (7/5): Overall nice place to stay if you want be be in a quiet area - The surrounding views were nice and saw animals roaming around. Waa good to get away from the busy city life. The location was a bit far from the restaurants, which were a minimum 25-minute drive. The menu is a bit misleading as it says open from 6 till late, but when we wanted to dine in at 7 p.m., the kitchen was just about to close. There was no wifi as suggested on the booking confirmation. It's not a huge issue, but it would've been nice.
• Claire (9/5): A warm scenic country escape with a delicious restaurant! - The most incredible location full of endless scenery, a nice comfy big bed with the best morning view, an open fire place in lounge room and heating for extra warmth in cottage. The food in the restaurant was AMAZING! A must do when staying! The best country escape for a getaway. We loved the free roaming sheep and lambs on the entrance to the farm and seeing beautiful horses in nearby paddocks grazing. Robert and Jan were so accommodating, easy going and lovely people to talk to. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! To note for future guests: there was no oven or stovetops in cottage but there is a microwave, kettle and little fridge. Perfect kitchen space for storing snacks, making cheese platters or simple non cooking meals. The lovely restaurant is a MUST for meals!! We loved not having or being able to properly cook in the cottage as the food at the restaurant was no word of a lie, absolutely delicious, locally sourced and incredible food… perfection.

Stayed at the stone cottages and admired the craftsmanship, the warmth of the fireplace on cold winter nights and the mesmerising views. Jan and Robert the owners are beautiful people, that have created a piece of Australian paradise on their land. With vision and creative work. At Tuki "Every day is a good day" as Robert says. It's also a treat! The food available on site was fantastic and made mainly from farm produce, eggs, lamb and trouts. We had a very positive and unforgettable experience and would love to visit Tuki again.

Don’t expect 5 star hotel, expect breathtaking views from your cabin where sunrise & sunset blow you away. Expect a comfortable cottage with character. The restaurant views are no different. The food is quality living off the land type home cooking that fills the belly nicely. Put your phone away and relax as you walk around the farm taking in the magic of rural beauty. It is located an easy drive away from an array of quality dining in the region. The owners Robert and Jan are very friendly and welcoming. Bring snacks and whatever you need to get properly immersed in the surroundings. The perfect place to base yourself to reset.

The ambience of birds chirping and water flowing can be heard from your cottage. The quality utensils, spa bath and friendly farm animals were a lovely touch. Both nights we used the little patio to watch the sunset which was so beautiful. I spoke with the owners before I left and it is evident that the property and animals are well cared for. I feel rejuvenated after my visit. Thank you Tuki! No major issues however it may have been nice to have some DVDs to use in the DVD player.

• Greg (10/5): - We have just returned from an amazing three nights at Tuki. It was hands down the most relaxing weekend away we've ever had, even though we did a lot around the area. The spa bath was very welcome after we returned from a 50km bike ride on the Ballarat Rail Trail, the spring water at Tuki does wonders for overworked muscles. Robert and Jan were so helpful and friendly, it was an absolute pleasure to be so welcome on their farm. Spending time amongst the animals on a working farm was great, so good to look out the window and see horses and sheep just over the other side of the dam. Breakfast in the restaurant was delicious, and the coffees that went with it were fantastic. Next time we visit Tuki we will definitely spend more time on the property and really unwind. Plus get the chance to throw in a line and catch a trout for dinner.

There were lots of farm animals to see and experience farm life. We loved Mary, the Lamb, she was such a sweetheart. The restaurant was very cosy and beautiful and the food was delicious. We loved the fact that they cleaned the fish for you after catching them. The beds are extremely comfortable. We loved our stay. Some of the facilities in the Miners Cottage need a little maintenance but nothing that was not sorted out quickly, when we pointed it out. it is a beautiful place to visit.

Perfectly functional kitchenette, great bathroom with lots of hot water and good shower pressure. Bed was incredibly comfortable. High quality linens, electric blankets, great mattress... honestly one of the best nights sleep I have ever had. The view and overall ambiance was unbelieveable. Just so peaceful. The owners went above and beyond to make my stay even more wonderful than expected - even building me a fire in the fireplace and lending me their own personal DVD player. Super pet friendly - my dog was obsessed with the sheep and all the new and interesting sights and smells. It a great little break away. I feel reset. Will definately be coming back. Literally nitpicking here - the knife provided in the kitchenette wasn't great but it did the job. If you're particular about your cooking utensils, bring your own.

The restaurant was closed as it was mid week but Jan was more than happy to cook us a meal from the restaurant menu and deliver it to our cottage. It was absolutely beautiful. The cottage we had was equipped with all practical needs for a long weekend stay in terms of crockery, cutlery, glassware, cooking utensils, toaster, mini oven and stove as well as toiletries and towels. Lovely bedding and comfortable lounge furniture. Great view over the lake. A quiet and peaceful place. Jan and Robert are welcoming hosts. I would return to this property again. The stone cottage was a little too dark in places. It needed more lights in the dining/kitchen area. It also needed a coffee table in the sitting room and a small outdoor table between the outdoor chairs. We had to use the dining chairs to rest our drinks on. A coffee table would be useful for to read the papers on. There was a lingering open fire smoke smell but this was not overwhelming.
