Guest Reviews
- Kaitlyn (10/5): Great hotel close to fun - Breakfast. The hot tub. The location to the town we were visiting! Hot tub to be open all night for adults
- Krista (9/5): -
- Krista (9/5): -
- Anika (7/5): - Clean Nothing
- Sara (9/5): nice and quiet. - desk clerk gave political view.
- Kennon (10/5): -
- Tate (5/5): - The room size and breakfast The beds suck and u could hear other people 2 doors down
- Vonnette (4/5): - Lots to offer for the breakfast The shower I do not think was cleaned as there was hair in it. The pool was very cloudy so not sure if that was set correctly. Also there was dirt all over the pool floor around the pool and the tables were dirty in the pool area.
- Amber (8/5): -
- Beth (8/5): Clean facility worth trying again. - Clean and affordable. Pool area cold, hot tub not in use and it was cold and rain was looking forward to that.wish they would have informed us that was a big part of our evening plans. Also although weather is not anyone's fault the windows leaked and made it hard to sleep.
- Ivy (8/5): - The hottub was cold
- Daniels (7/5): -
- Hirsh (7/5): -
- Don and Marcie (8/5): - Ran low on eggs
- Tim (8/5): - It was ok.
- Melanie A (8/5): - Good breakfast. The room was a little small, but having a refrigerator and microwave in the room was a plus.
- Kaitlyn (6/5): - The rooms smelled mildewy, the AC didn’t work the best and the rooms were humid. The hot tub was colder than the pool. Also, check your cards after your stay- we paid for our rooms on the app and we got charged again after check out.
- Shawn (8/5): - Everything was fine, but was really looking forward to the hot tub which wasnt working.
- Ryan (4/5): -
- Coley (6/5): - It was an okay hotel/ the hot tub was freezing
- Jake (8/5): - I have no complaints. The staff was nice and always had a smile, the breakfast had a good selection and nice area to eat, and the room was clean and up to date. I would stay there again!
- Chris (2/5): - The hot tub wasn’t heated
Eggs and sausage were cold at 7A.M. almost like they just put the cold stuff In the pan and just let it heat up only apples for fruit
Squealing exhaust fan in room
All bedding had stains also the shower curtain
Rust on the outside of fridge door and frozen towel in the freezer
No staff at desk appears to be run by a family who spend all there time In The apartment and
you have to call whenever you need something including checking in our out
Rolled up rugs In The dinning area along with extra furniture
No coffee on sight no in room coffee either can only get coffee during breakfast hours
No clock
I could go on but in short worst place I have ever stayed
- Brent (10/5): - Nice place to stay. Pool was a little cooler than I'm comfortable. Nice Hot tub. I wish the pool opening was earlier 10:00 am to 10:30 pm. Would like to do a morning swim but if I have to checkout at 11:00 am that makes it impossible...
- Shawna (2/5): Will never stay here again. Couldn't even stay the second night because of my allergies. - There was mold on the curtains when we walked in our room and 2 bugs crawling in the bathtub which badly needed to be remodeled. The toilet paper was damp and smelled like urine.
- Gary (10/5): - One of the nicest motel 8's ive ever been to.. i give 5 stars out of laziness.. the staff fully deserves this ratings and owns up to it.. Great Job to all crew members
- Paula (1/5): -
- Duff (7/5): Worked OK for my one-night stay at a reasonable price. - N/A Chair in room 120 is very broken diwn
- Chrissy (2/5): - Our room that we booked was severely small. The whole hotel smelled like mildew, and the carpet was wet in our room. The sheets and chair were very dirty. Do not stay here!!
- Primus (5/5): - Glenwood is a beautiful area The hot tub wasn't working.
The room was missing light bulbs, the tub was missing a plug ....
- Sandra (10/5): - Room was big enough. Seemed very clean. Blackout cutain really kept the room dark so that was great!
I wish the tub/shower had a grab bar for safety but otherwise no complaints
- Curtis (8/5): - A/C unit hard to control. Very humid in the room at times. Enjoyed the breakfast very much. Staff very friendly.
- Doreen (8/5): -
- Austin (8/5): - - Room had a strange smell, but opened the window and that cleared it up.
- Pool and hot tub were nice to enjoy.
- Has a large breakfast area. But we did not use.
- Clean, bright, and safe.
- Smoke detector low-battery beeps came on at 8am-ish. Was able to silence it. Luck of the draw with stuff like that. Staff were not too helpful over the phone because of thick accent and mumbling.
- Not a lot going on in town. We were looking for a quick bite around 8pm. Dairy Queen down by the water is only a half kitchen. A&W across the street is closed. Pizza place was closed. Restaurant across the lot was super busy. Would not recommend planning to eat here. Grab something in Alexandria or elsewhere before coming to Glenwood for the night. Would recommend if travelling with kids: safe, clean, pool, and breakfast room.
- Karin (8/5): - Weekend breakfast could be extended until 10am for more convenience to the customers.
- Janice (9/5): Superb - Staff was kind, courteous and helpful. The stay was very good. We enjoyed the breakfast.
- Tracy (6/5): Pleasant -
- Megan (6/5): - I received an email/text to enter in all of my information to make a quick check in. It did not matter to do any of this as I had to submit all of the information upon arrival. I was told the info submitted does not go to their system. The staff was friendly. The hotel is run down overall. Our room had a terrible odor and was humid. I believe a lot of the smell was coming from the air conditioning. It was nice to have a pool, however the hot tub was not very hot and there was large amount of gravel all settled down on the bottom, it needs some serious help. The breakfast was ok, they did have some hot food options. Ther rooms lack light with a few lamps. We were given an ADA room and there was limited light in the shower. The water pressure was also terrible. I would have expected more for the price I paid for a room, but when you need to stay in a town that has very limited options, you need to book. On a positive note, the staff was friendly and it was a good location for us to attend a wedding.
- Tammie (10/5): - All staff - great customer svc; great bkfst daily; clean rooms daily; nice pool with restroom/shower too. Good price.
- Verified traveler (6/5): It's Okay for the Price - We choose the 2nd floor since it's usually drier. The bed was comfortable. The shower head was clean and stong enough for long hair. The area was quiet. The carpet looked good. The A/C kept it cool. 68 - 70 F. The tub drain worked well. The walls and curtain of the tub were clean.
If you like it humid in your room, you'll like it here. For us, we would have liked the air to be drier. I looked for a feature on the A/C to recirculate the inside air, but no luck. I turned the A/C down, and that helped the air, but not the floor. Also, I'm doubting the exhaust fan in the bathroom was working much as it was quite dirty, and again, the air and floor stayed humid. The bathroom sink drain was slow, but it did drain. The tub itself needs a strong cleaning or to be replaced. I stood on a towel to keep from slipping as well as comfort for the oldness/cleanliness of the tub.
It looks like improvements are being made. I hope they keep going!
- Daniel (4/5): A real bummer - I pre-register. Came to motel and no one at front desk. Stood there waiting over 10 min. When staff came, it took forever to get my key. Problem with the computer
- 149geel (10/5): Good - Always a great stop over and good food.
Rooms are always clean
Thank you again .
Restaurant within walking distance and gas station.
- Norman (10/5): - Nice motel!
- Larissa (7/5): Pleasant stay - Location was great for what we needed. Rooms are outdated and small for a family travelling.
- Erin (10/5): Quiet, comfortable room, good breakfast in the morning - Clean and close to destination
- Ashley (10/5): - .
- Rachel (4/5): Budget friendly if you can see past a few things - The Super 8 has a convenient location. Easy to find. Budget friendly. To start the pool area is in desperate need of repair. (Brick work)Our swimsuits had a foul odor after swimming in the pool and I’m using the hot tub.
The whole hotel needs some TLC lots of scuff marks and random paint chips missing. In the breakfast area there were two countertops just resting on the wall.
The beds were not comfortable.
- Kari (6/5): - The staff was 'inconvienced' by us - we asked to have extra pillows & towels, we never received them; when asked for a replacement of something & towels, they brought the replacement to our door but no towels. they then proceeded to say 'desk is unattended, maybe you come down and get towels.' Why did they only bring 1 of 2 items when we asked for 2 and they confirmed 2?
Check in was extremely a long process - I did the online check in, and it stated we only needed to grab keys - but then to get keys i had to provide the SAME information I did ONLINE for the online check in and it took another 20 minutes. The front desk lady was not friendly.
The room had 2 holes punched in the wall, the shower tub looked like they paint over it and the pain was coming off, the water line for the shower head was fully exposed with a gapping hole in the wall.
The beds were comfortable - but for $200+ per night, I expected friendlier staff and no holes in my walls.
- Sightsee780187 (2/5): Poor customer service - They billed a credit card for someone who wasn't even checking in. The person who checked in gave them their card and they ran it, but never charged it. When asked for this to be changed they said they couldn't and then refused to give a receipt.
- Domingo (6/5): - There was a hole in my bathroom door. I didnt remeber to take photos but inwas in room 125
- Jennifer (2/5): - Online it specifically said that there was a private hot tub with the room we selected and when we checked in there wasn’t one in our room so we asked to be moved. They charged us $50 cash and refused to give us a receipt for it so we could be reimbursed the $50 from our travel company.
- scott (10/5): - Quick check-in. No tea for beverage,
- Josh (6/5): It was fine…… could have been better - Had to fix the TV, wasn’t hooked up properly, the continental breakfast was gross. I didn’t eat it.
- Louis (5/5): Won't be making a reservation at the glenwood super8. - Breakfast nice but cold an sausages not cooked. We came for breakfast an they didn't refill it. We made reservations on line asking for adjoining rooms couldn't get as they were on 2nd floor I am handicapped. So we asked for rooms next each other. Got there gave us 2 rooms one on the far side an one on the other side so I asked for what I asked for was informed hotel was full noway it was a tues an wed so that manager said he had a handicapped but couldn't get the other room closer however telling him was going to contact corporate he all a sudden had a room across from us. The rooms were small except the room with king beds were really larger. I am sorry to say we would never stay there. I am also a Windham client.
- Lisa (8/5): - Hotel was clean. Beds were somewhat comfortable and pillows were just right. Could use better lighting in the bathroom for a woman who is applying makeup and there was a lack of usable electrical outlets in the room. The ones in the room were blocked by furniture that could not be moved
- Rose (8/5): - Nice stay.
- MinnCouple (10/5): Enjoyable Experience - Clean room and supplied everything we needed. The bed was comfortable. Good shower and linens. The breakfast bar was very good. The staff was good.Didn’t use the pool, but it was a nice feature. The very large picture above the bed was very beautiful. The water temperature was good. It was nice to have a reclining chair and we liked the refrigerator and microwave. The room temperature was good.
- Carol (10/5): - They have made several updates that were needed. New carpeting, tub surrounds and new bed linens.
- kirk (10/5): - great view of Lake Minnewaska
- Jeffrey (10/5): Great stay - Clean, comfortable and easy stay. Recent renovations to the property are nice!
- Jenni (4/5): Eh - The room had an odor in it, which affected my asthma. The furniture was torn, wingback chair was dirty. Bed covers faded/dated. The bed was uncomfortable and squeaked. It was what it was. Not frills. No one at the front desk for questions, check in or check out. Had to call. Not the friendliest.
I will say that the bathroom fixtures were clean, though could use a makeover.
- Paula (4/5): - The bathroom was very outdated and the toilet was extremely short. Exhaust fan was noisy!
- Louie (6/5): - Yea
- Leo (6/5): Slimey hot tub - Bed comforter had yellow stains, and the hot tub smelled dirty and the walls in the hot tub were slimey
- Jesse (6/5): - Staff was friendly and welcoming. Room was clean, comfortable, a little outdated in the bathroom but didn’t really affect our stay. Breakfast was good. Pool had multiple bandaids floating around and hot tub had a lot of peeling paint, but we still used it so can’t complain too much about that. Overall I’d stay again
- Jack (10/5): - The breakfast in the morning 😄😄😄
- MikeM999777 (10/5): Wonderful Stay - The rooms are updated and clean. They are pet friendly. The staff was wonderful. I will stay again when I'm in the area. There is a gas station walking distance and also a great restaurant that is also walking distance. My trip was business related and in the winter but it looks like a great place to visit in the summer with a lake nearby and also a walkable downtown. You can park and walk.
- Mark (6/5): - Old mattress, shower had hair in it
- Jordan (6/5): - Can't expect much from a budget hotel, but it was good minus the beds being too hard. I barely slept because of it and messed up my lower back too
- Beth (8/5): Very good -
- MARY (8/5): - Very nice accommodations with a great price!. Very clean, nice pool area, and a nice breakfast.
- Charity (6/5): - Room was very small, but not a big deal. There were candy wrappers on the floor in the corner and crumbs in the bedside table drawer. The window sill was extremely dusty/dirty. Other than that, the breakfast was decent. Hotel seems a little outdated, but service was friendly.
- david (10/5): - Good hotel for the price. I world stay again
- Travis (4/5): Dirty - My tv didnt work when i got their and they told me they would have someone come look at it and never did the hallways seemed dirty and my bathroom was also dirty
- Janelle (8/5): February stay - First impression had me worried but we were pleasantly surprised by our room. Nice size, clean. There were a few maintenance needs: bathroom door missing the top pin so.door.ddint close correctly, bathroom door patched hole not completed and a few light bulbs were out. Looks like they are in the process of carpet. Stairwell carpet old and grungy. The front lobby felt cheap and dirty. The lobby couch very dirty. Was not warm and inviting which is why we were very worried to see the room. But when we opened the room door we were pleased. The breakfast area was clean the food was fair. We didnt go into the pool area at all.
- Shannon (7/5): Good -
- Melody (7/5): Not good - Are rooms were at the end of the hall when I asked for a room close to the lobby my sister just had a hip replacement surgery a month ago and that was a long walk they said they put us by a door that was a fire door
- Margaret (8/5): Great staff made the stay comfortable - I made a mistake in my reservation and the manager was very gracious helping sort it out and getting things to work for me. The building is a little old and showing it’s age
- Kristel (10/5): Exceptional - Staff was friendly, the room was clean The door didn't lock well
- Theresa (10/5): - Very helpful staff
- dave (8/5): - Nice place and people running the Super 8 were FANTASTIC. Had a little computer trouble at check in but other than that a great stay. Bed was terrific , tv and fridge were easy to use.
- Karen (7/5): Good -
- 341tinao (4/5): I won't stay here again - We were visiting some friends in Glenwood and chose to stay at Super 8 as our preferred hotel was booked up. The lobby and hallways were dirty with large holes in the carpet. Our room was okay, but the tub was either dirty or really worn. The security lock for our door was just a chain lock and this was broken. It didn't feel very safe. We did not try the breakfast and left right away in the morning. We had limited communication with the staff, but they seemed friendly enough.
- Kathleen (6/5): Overpriced small room - The best part of staying here was the comfortable bed and quietness. Otherwise it was overpriced for what we got--a very small room with barely enough walking space between the bed and furniture/small refrigerator. Breakfast was minimal with only 5 sausages left by 8:30 am, scrambled eggs and the usual cold items, cereals and waffle maker.
The pool hours are not user friendly as it doesn't even open until 10 am with checkout by 11 am so no time to get an early morning swim and/or soak in.
There was obviously an issue with the credit card machine as a credit card of mine was declined that shouldn't have been, and it happened with another customer.
The hotel we stayed at the night before was $20 cheaper, the room was a lot bigger and breakfast better that included biscuits and gravy, plus a wide variety of fruits and two different waffle makers.
Long story short, this hotel should be cheaper for what you get and if I ever travel by Glenwood, Minnesota again, would find another hotel to stay at.
- Olivia (4/5): don’t use heater in room 115 - The room was a lot nicer than expected AT FIRST… and i wasn’t expecting much at all for $100 last minute. until 2am when it started to get cold so my boyfriend turned the heater on and it immediately starts smoking, and i mean so bad the smoke detector goes off and it reeks. went to the front desk (no one was there) had to call the guy and tell him to come to our room to see what’s wrong with it. then i see him standing down the hallway just staring at me, had to wave him down like i didn’t just get off the phone with him and tell him what room we were in. he obviously didn’t want to be there. then he starts searching around our room like we were smoking in there when the smoke is clearly coming out of the heater/ac. thankfully he gave us a different room because the smoke was awful, but it shouldn’t have happened in the first place.
- Zemke (7/5): Good -
- Anne (10/5): Will stay again - Great breakfast, clean, swimmingpool, nice staff.
- Patricia (6/5): - Comfortable bed could’ve been a lot cleaner check in was easy
- Rich (8/5): The hotel was clean and the breakfast was good so it was a good value for the price we paid. - The staff were nice and accommodating. It was close to our family whom we were visiting. Breakfast was good. The bath tub was a little worn and could use some updating. The lobby could use some new carpeting.
- Michelle (6/5): - When checking in I wasn’t asked if the card on reservation is the card I want to use for my stay, they just charged it right away without asking as I was handing them the card I did want charged. Was too big of hassle for them to change. When we got to our room the walls in bathroom and by room door were dirty with something that splattered on it. Bed sheets looked to have not been changed just bed remade with already slept in sheets. No sign posted saying hot tub was out of service. On the plus side the bed seemed to be newer and comfortable and breakfast was clean and they did let us use the area for my family to get together for pizza before leaving for my son’s wedding.
- Jill (9/5): Lovely time spent in Glenwood! - liked the location up on the hill and easy to get into the city, nice view from up there! nothing in particular. Room was a bit small.
- Lori (8/5): - Disappointed to find out the hot tub was not working.
- Autum (5/5): Passable - it was pet friendly someone tried breaking into my room at night
- Shirley (2/5): - Expedia sent us to glenwood mn not glenwood newfoundland. We didnt notice. Cost us $147 and had to find our own room in newfoundland. It shoukd have said no hotels availabke when we searched glenwood nl not sen us somewhere else.
- Ray (2/5): - Not happy with expedia booking. Was reaching bookings in glenwood NL and they bumped me to Glenwood MN without us noticing. We were not anywhere near MN. So we lost our money and didn't have a room .😡
- Elwood (10/5): I'll be back - Nicely updated older facility. Friendly helpful staff. Clean. Pleasant. I've stayed here in the past and will again in the future.
- Sarita (2/5): - I checked out early because the hot tube was broken and no sheets were on the bed used the blankets to sleep on. The bed was very hard and didn't sleep very well
- Trebesch (5/5): Short n sweet - Easy to find. Convenient Pool was closed and booked with intent to swim
- Brian (10/5): Great Getaway Stay in Glenwood, Minnesota - Great rates! Very courteous, friendly staff! Rooms were cleaned daily. Breakfast left a little to be desired. Found moldy muffins one morning.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Family getaway - The hotel was old and we noticed a smell when we got to our room. The room was very small, but it was clean. The breakfast was good.
- Josh (2/5): Not worth the price and wouldn’t recommend staying here to anyone. - Location. Dirty, bad breakfast little to no options. Unclean rooms. Out of date TV and other appliances. Dirty bathroom. Coffee and other mystery stains on future. Overpriced stay for what you get out of it. Pool was under construction. Beer cans and bottles in grass and all around outside of building.
