- Bernard (10/5): Exceptional - I had an incredible stay at K’s House Hakuba. The place is super clean and thoughtfully organized—clearly run by people who care about detail. As a digital nomad, I especially appreciated the cozy and peaceful common area, which made working remotely feel like home.
What stood out most was the outstanding hospitality. The staff were kind, informative, and spoke excellent English. I arrived around midnight, and check-in was a breeze thanks to their 24-hour access system and thoughtful instructions with my key ready.
While the hotel is around 15 minutes on foot from Kamishiro Station, the staff kindly gave me a ride in their shuttle. A special shoutout to Toshi, who generously lent me his crampons for my mountain hike — a total lifesaver!
This is a superb and affordable base in rural Japan — perfect for backpackers, solo travelers, and anyone looking for a welcoming mountain stay. Highly recommended!
- Sergent (10/5): Exceptional - Great place definitly would recommend to family or solo traveller.
Place is confy and great to rest after a good day in the snow.
The owner was just great, he helped me with an issue with my card
- AMRITHA (10/5): - The place is really nice. We would love to come back some time again for trekking. And thank you Tosh for dropping us in the railway station.
- Ray (9/5): Goryu lift near by - Near Goryo ski lift and shops No
- Bryan (10/5): - Lovely space and easy access to Goryu. The family who runs the hostel is incredibly sweet, friendly, and helpful with so many questions and recommendations for Japan. The hostel is open and airy while still being cozy and feels like you're staying in a large house which was kept immaculately clean. Loved this place!

- Tanner (10/5): Exceptional - Very kind hosts
- Matthew (8/5): Very good -
- Melinda (10/5): Exceptional - Toshi and Megumi were super friendly and helpful in providing recommendations for restaurants, discounts for ski passes and rentals and helped organise snowboarding lessons. Great location 10 minutes walk from Goryu Escal Plaza with a range of restaurants nearby. n/a
- Olesya (9/5): Perfect base for exploring Hakuba - The place is 10 minute walk from the Goryu ski lift and 10 minutes away from the bus station taking you to Tokyo and other resorts in the valley. Owners are really amazing. They are so patient with foreign guests and explain Japanese ways of living. They also offered me a lift to the bus station which was really sweet. The living room is really warm and inviting to hang out. The view from it is really picturesque. The surrounding area is quaint
- Kaden (10/5): Best hostel I’ve ever stayed at. - It was a very cool house off the main road so it was quiet which was nice after coming back from a long day out. There wasn’t anything I didn’t like.
- Dionne (10/5): Great place, very affordable and well run - Lovely people, great kitchen facilities, very organised, helpful owners and close to bus stop. Hard pillows but everything else was amazing
- Khoi (10/5): - Wonderful place to spend a few days in Hakuba Valley. A short 10 minute walk to Escal Plaza and Goryu ski resort. Toshi and his wife are so kind and accommodating. The property is clean and quiet, the perfect resting place for several days on the slopes.
- Kristin (10/5): Fantastic. We’ll be back! - Amazing location. Walking distance to Hakuba Goryu ski fields and restaurants.
The hosts are really friendly and helpful.
Very comfortable beds and very clean. We loved the hostel style environment being able to engage with fellow travellers and having cooking facilities Nothing
- Jayc (9/5): A fantastic stay that made you feel welcomed into another's home 🥰 - Ks House was far better than we had anticipated given its description as a hostel. We stayed in a twin room with ensuite attached for 4 nights, which was a pretty good size, there was a small TV and a little table with 2 chairs which made the room more cramped. Linen and towels were provided. Bedrooms located upstairs and the common area is downstairs - this area really is cozy, with some couches, tables and chairs (western or Japanese option), and floor to ceiling windows that wrap around giving you a stunning view of the outside.
The shared kitchen was never too crowded and was always in a clean state.
The staff are what make this stay great. Toshi (hope I spelled this right) seemed like he was always around to answer questions or give advice. It really had a homely feeling. The drying room was small but they solved this issue by having gear (skis, boards, boots) downstairs and clothing (helmets, gloves, jackets, pants) on drying on racks on the 2nd floor.
In terms of location, in winter, there was a free shuttle that picked you up just on the corner of the street and took you to Goryu Mountain- from there the other main busses can take you to the other mountains. We walked once, and although mostly an uphill climb with gear, it only took 15 minutes. There are a few restaurant options within walking distance as well and did not feel the need to get a taxi anywhere. The longest walk is to the 7/11 (15mins). Very convenient location. You could feel the springs in the beds but otherwise after a big day of snowboarding, you don't tend to notice that for too long.
A small set of drawers for clothes or some shelving to put empty bags on to help clear the floor would be ideal as we had a suitcase and a snowboard bag. We didn't use the chairs as we sat on the beds and we never used the TV as we had phones or tablets/laptops.
- Hickson (10/5): A home away from home - This was only a 10 minute walk to the ski field and the hosts were so helpful with giving us information on buses or taxis or restaurants to dine at. Could find no fault with this accommodation.
- Longji (10/5): Stay was incredibly awesome - Hospitality was top notch. No dislike for this property
- Bastien (10/5): Exceptional - The managers are very nice
- Arlo (9/5): Amazing, would definitely come back and recommend to all. - The staff are amazing and so welcoming!
- Marcus (10/5): Exceptional - One of the best hostels run by some of the nicest people Migumi and Toshi
- Albert (10/5): Exceptional - Great owners. They were so kind, hospitable, and can answer any questions you have.
- Maddie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Miroslaw (9/5): Nice host, great location - Nice hosts, kitchen good equipped, great location near the ski bus stop. none
- Christina (10/5): Exceptional - The owners of this guesthouse are very friendly, welcoming and helpful. It was a great atmosphere in the house with lots of friendly people and we felt welcome chilling in the shared lounge in the evenings. Our room size was big enough for a long weekend snowboarding and we appreciated the parking space, too. The coffee each morning was a big bonus, as it kept being refilled and tasted very good. It's great that there are also some snacks and drinks available for purchase in the guesthouse and there are quite a few great restaurants and bar closeby. The location is great, you're close to Goryu / Hakuba 47, but still in the part that feels less touristy. Also, the heater in the room made it comfortably warm (which is not always the case in Japanese houses). We would like to come back and stay again at K's House! Even though we had a wonderful experience overall, it would be great to have more shelves and storage options in the room.
- Ashley (10/5): Exceptional -
- Daniel (8/5): Very good -
- Jacob (10/5): Lovely homestay with great hosts - An amazing and beautiful little property. The common area downstairs is so beautiful. Megumi and Tashi are lovely, welcoming and gracious hosts. Complementary train/bus station pick up and drop off, as well as a complementary laundry load were unexpected added bonuses.
10/10 recommend n/a
- Madeleine (10/5): Exceptional - This was my first hostel and solo overseas travel experience. I was initially a bit nervous about this but as soon as I arrived at K’s House, I felt at ease. Toshi and Migumi were so accomodating and helpful, e.g. whether it was knowing every guest’s name and wishing them good morning, picking me up and dropping me off to the bus station or providing advice about lift tickets. The place was spotless and had such a nice homely ski lodge sort of feel.
I can’t recommend this place more!! It won’t disappoint.
- James (10/5): Exceptional -
- Katharina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elizabeth (9/5): Will stay again if available. - Hosts, location, clear expectations A little strict

I took the bus from Nagano station to Hakuba Goryu bus stop and made a phone call to the hostel, then Toshisan drove a car and picked me at the bus stop. The hostel is so clean. No supermarket or Kombini nearby (7-11, Lawsons)
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -

- Nicholas (10/5): Exceptional - Staying at K’s House felt homely and was an extremely comfortable stay. The staff and guests were super friendly and welcoming. The location is close to the Goryu Slopes and the price was exceptionally cheap. I would highly recommend this accommodation.
- Mordehay (10/5): Exceptional - Great place to stay, 10 minutes walk to goryu ski resort, they have discounts for lift chairs and equipment rentals. They picked us up from the train station for free and dropped us to Hukaba bus station for a small fee. Toshi and his family are very welcoming and will help you wherever they can.
We had the best time snowboarding.
Thank you, Toshi and Minomi.
- Agneesh (10/5): Exceptional - Had an amazing experience staying at K's House Hakuba for a couple of nights. - Kristianto (9/5): Will come back! - The staffs are very helpful and polite, they speak English too! I stay at upper bed, the bed frame making noises if you move, making it uncomfortable for others.

- Hulbert (10/5): Wonderful stay - Incredibly helpful staff with great local insights, relaxing shared space, very clean and great location for access to goryu and local bars and restaurants! Liked everything - but will say don't book anything before getting some wonderful advice and deals from the hosts!
- Jensen (10/5): An excellent time! - Comfortable, clean, quiet, lovely staff. I had a great time
- Pippita (10/5): Great place, would stay again - I had the most wonderful stay at Ks house. The hosts Meg and Toshi were wonderful, they made my stay feel as if I were visiting friends. The facilities were great, with a communal kitchen and lovely big living and dining area. The hostel has a very communal atmosphere with lots of guest socialisation. The location is great, within walking distance of the ski lifts but also very close to the shuttle stop if you're feeling lazy.
- Beck (10/5): Exceptional - We absolutely loved our stay here! Toshi and Megumi were so welcoming and hospitable. They did absolutely everything they could do make sure we were set up for our first ski trip as well as organising how to get to our next destination and dropping us off at the station. Their place is extremely clean, organised and has everything you would need for your stay. Great views from the windows too. We will definitely stay here again if we visit Hakuba next time. Thanks for everything guys :)
- Travis (10/5): Lovely - Really clean, hosts were extremely friendly and helpful, living condition feels homely
- Maurice (10/5): Exceptional - Very great place to stay!
Megumi and Toshi were outstanding hosts! We'd come back anytime and can recommend them unconditionally - from insights on how to get around to eating recommendations or discounts with local partners, they made this a 10/10 experience.
Thank you so much!
Maurice & Hendrik
- Xian (10/5): Picturesque and filled with a warm atmosphere in the winter. - The lounge was extremely beautiful and filled with a warm atmosphere.
- Wei (10/5): Awesome - I stayed 9 nights at K’s House and would definitely recommend it to anyone who would like to have a local taste of Hakuba Valley’s country life. Toshi and Megumi run the hostel in a manner that you don’t feel like traveling but living there.
1. Everything is clean and organized, I like the shared kitchen and living room especially. The level of tidiness would remind people to keep it clean for the next customers.
2. The toilets and shower room always have plenty amount of toilet paper. The litter bin is almost emptied every time I use it. It must be cleaned very frequently.
3. Ski/snowboard gears are at their most suitable places, which ensure there is enough space in the room.
4. Toshi took customers for grocery shopping every 3-4 days though it means he’ll be very busy driving in and out. And he nicely showed me the exact shelf where the things I need. He also considerately send me to the transfer location on my leaving day.
Overall I spend some very peaceful days there and really enjoy the chemistry of this lovely hostel. I’ve already book the next travel back here and look forward to seeing them soon. None
- Binal (10/5): Great location and staff. Loved it. - Loved the property, it’s social and the couple that manage it are just lovely. They really help you out with anything and feels like a little family stay. Definitely will be staying there again if I am back in Hakuba.
- LEE (10/5): - The owners are nice and their house is clean.
- Remo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Arttu (10/5): Exceptional -
- Laddawan (9/5): I think this accommodation is suitable for people with cars. - What I liked the most was that the Japanese owners, the husband and wife, were very good at English. I really appreciated the organization of the garbage sorting system here. It was very organized.
I had free access to the kitchen equipment and the common area had a great atmosphere, everyone was sitting together eating, some were checking emails, some were reading books, some were chatting, it was a very intimate atmosphere, and the owner of the hotel also used this area to eat with his own family, I felt like I was at home.
I drove to a parking lot that was quite adequate and free. Since this is a 2-storey house, there is no elevator, so if you have heavy luggage, you may need to use a lot of strength to lift it up.
Other than that, there's nothing I don't like, everything is great.
There are no restaurants or convenience stores in the area around the accommodation. You have to bring food from outside and cook or prepare it at the accommodation. However, if you have a car, you can drive out to buy things not far away.
- Jamie (10/5): - Toshi and Meg are delightful hosts. Toshi even picked me up at the train station, intuitively knowing that I'd be there. I did not request this service, it was something he did on his own to make me feel welcome.
- Jungkyu (10/5): Exceptional - Toshi and Megu were the nicest ppl I've ever met. I stayed 2 nights and wished I could stay longer. I will definitely come back!
- Mark (10/5): Beautiful hostel in the alps - Amazing place with excellent hosts! Would love to come in winter
- Robert (10/5): Epic - Amazing staff and facilities, super friendly and really helped the guests out. So grateful to Toshi and Meg!!
- Krishna (9/5): Superb - A bidet in the toilet of private room is very much required.
- Duncan (10/5): Best place to stay in Hakuba! - I had the most amazing stay here. I was planning to hike Mt. Shirouma and the hosts gave me a map and even a ride to the trailhead. I also stayed here the following day after coming down from the mountain.
Huge bonus: you can leave your bag, so you don’t have to take everything with you on the hike.
I can’t say enough good things about this place. How welcoming, kind, and helpful Toshi and Megumi were to me. I really hope I can return here.

Clean spacious rooms, a kitchen with everything you could want and more, comfy beds, peace and tranquility but most of all the hosts Toshi and Meg are absolutely amazing! It was always so nice to chat with them and learn about Japan. They make you feel so at home. I can't recommend this place enough if you're in Hakuba. 😊😊😊

- Oren (10/5): Great accomodation near the slopes with a warm welcoming vibe - The common area was very nice with great views of the snow out the big glass windows. Toshi was very helpful .
The location was close to the closest resort and there are shuttles running from nearby if you’re feeling lazy
- Bonnie (9/5): Comforable stay - Comfy bed, clean house, close to Goryu and Iimori ski resort. Nice hosts. A bit far away for walking to Happo and echoland.
- Angus (10/5): Exceptional - Toshi was super helpful and welcoming. A short walk to the slopes easy with a snowboard. Its in a bit of a more quiet area. Could be a good thing if thats what you want.
- Charlotte (10/5): The best place to stay for a ski trip in hakuba - The best place to stay for a ski trip in Hakuba.
- Convenient location to Goryu slopes, we were able to walk to the slopes.
- Cleanest common areas you will find in a hostel, lovely lounge and great organised kitchen
- Snacks and drinks at a great price
- Perfectly set up for skiers and snowboarders with storage areas, lift passes and rental shop nearby with discount.
- Most of all, Toshi, Megumi and their girls are the most wonderful people. They remembered our names from the first day, took us to our ski lessons - and made sure we knew where we were going, gave restaurant recommendations, sorted us with ski gear and passes, supermarket trips and more! They were so accommodating and made our trip unforgettable.
- Johnson (10/5): Fantastic location and fantastic hosts - Fantastic location and fantastic hosts. A sociable set-up great for solo traveler’s and couples alike.
- Man (10/5): A great place to meet travellers from all over the world. - This is my 3rd time staying at K's house Hakuba. Thank you Toshi san hosing and so happy to be here again. This time is the most memorable one ever.
The first thing I must commend is the host; they are friendly and helpful, contributing significantly to making your stay more relaxing and comfortable.
K's house is 5-10mins from Kamishiro Station, and 10mins walk to the Goryu snow resort. Daily shuttle bus available run by Goryu snow resort. It has got a well-Equipped Kitchen, with a fridge, toaster, microwave. The common area offers coffee and tea bags, as well as a snack area where guests can purchase quick and easy snacks. These amenities add to the convenience and comfort of the stay. There is a 7-11 with a 15min walk away, which may be inconvenient. 2 restaurants right beside the hostel, and 2 more with-in 10min walk. But they are usually quite full.
If you are staying in a shared room, you will never know who you are meeting. Luckily my roommates all are unexceptionally good. But you may also meeting some guests who sleep late or some other situations. It's all by luck.
Finally, this one has nth do with the hostel, just a piece of information to help you better plan you trip. I planned to take the first bus at kamishino bus stop to nagano at 8:30(Sat). It ended up 2 bus come late and full. I waited for an hour for the 9:30 bus.
